Education › Re: Toughest Universities To Enter In Nigeria by ukandi1(m): 7:15pm On Nov 02, 2014 |
omicron: The toughest universities are not necessarily the best.
Most of them are tough because most candidates apply to study there becos they pay far cheaper tuition fees, since they are mainly federal schools subsidised considerably by Fed Govt.
Many of them also come with prestige and glory that u may not get elsewhr in Nigeria. For eg, if i studied at University of Nigeria, dat alone would make me seem better than one who came from one State university of Science, or one Awolowo Ojukwu Balewa University.
So no need to fight over this, or take glory in these superflous comparisons.
It's simple logic, federal unis esp the 1st and 2nd genration schools are harder to get admission into. UNN, UNILAG, UNIBEN, ABU, ILORIN, OAU, UI etc hmmmnnnnn .. Very sound analogy .. |

bushdoc9919: @the bolded...when last was a graduate in Islamic studies or Christian religous knowledge our leader?
(And before you call Obasanjo...OBJ was an army engineer long before he enrolled to read CRK at NOUN.).
And the reason why you engineers have been sidelined in this country is because we are a country with a dutch diseased economy....a resource addict economy. Thus we use the revenue from the oil we sell to import...because the oil money is enough.
Meanwhile, local industries die because we are over-importing.
Oil is a curse. when i say a graduate of islamic or christian religion studies rule us, i expect us all to wear our thinking cap and look at d literary meaning. Is yar'adua not d first graduate to rule us? Prior to this time what calibre of people were ruling? Its not about d president now, how about d other cabinet members who have a say in d scheme of things? How many engineers have u found in d first 3 hierarchy of authority in dis nation? How do u expect those born with silver spoons to appreciate d plight of those born in a manger? Meanwhile, local industries are comatose cos there are no structures to encourage production at cheaper rates and therefore they don't break-even. Becos they dont breakeven, they die out. local demand is always more than supply hence d porous borders for high imports. Oil is a curse to us i agree with u. We engineers are not sidelined. We are only watching and laughing at those who think we are dispensable. Kolanut last longer only in d mouth of those who value it. Kindly excuse any word u may consider derogatory. My submission. |
Career › Re: The Nigerian Engineer And The Oil/Gas Career Mentality by ukandi1(m): 9:48am On Oct 24, 2014 |
When u allow holders of certificates in islamic studies or christian religious studies to rule u or military mechanics et al to rule u, how do u expect them to know d importance of engineering profession? With these very people practicing nepotism, tell me why a sound engineer shud not seek solace in oil and gas when d substance inside of him would not be allowed to manifest? Without structures and money in d hands of d right people, there is no starting point for such worthwhile researches and development . We may continue to be end users for many more yrs to come.

drlawizle: The reason PDP failed in osun was simply because its a yoruba affair hence making it an open ground for both xtians & muslim thus the best man won...ive said it that our main problem is ethnic bigotry...I personally won't mind voting fashola as president of this country even though he's muslim...cos he's a southerner who though will still likely lick a Northern arzz (cos of his religion) but will not likely enslave us to them...(may not vote him cos of his hatred for doctors though)where were the churches during hausa muslims tyranny? They were all turned to miracle houses cos of the state of economic hardship which they put us in...the reason most ppl serve God now is for miracles and it all started under the wicked govt of hausas which Nigeria is yet to recover from till date. supported |

If Buhari is genuine, then he should retire to the background just like other elderstatesmen; Gowon, Obasanjo, et al. APC should not impose Buhari on the people. Gud observation from a sound mind. |
