I did and also called the bank directly. The underwriters did not add a reason. My mortgage advisors have emailed them and fingers crossed for their response. Valuation, source of income and affordability all checks out. So it was really weird.
The problem now is that there are no other lenders asides Barclays that accept 10% while you are on a visa 😢. Really disappointing.

If anyone knows any other lender, please let me know.

This would have been quite distressing to you.
I know Halifax gives with family income upto £100K.
Speak to your Mortgage advisor to shop around again for you. Definitely you will get soon .

Has anyone had a mortgage rejected before and the bank didn’t give a reason?

I think you should ask for the reason for the rejection from your mortgage advisor

Haa, Oga Santa,

I don’t like debt that involves additional expenses as a result of instalment,

Was seeing cars at 5-10k range and taking up finance with instalment will accrue additional thousands of pounds over the years, prefer one off, or insatllment without interest even if it’s for 3 months I don’t mind.

I paid my insurance one off because I noticed that additional 220£ will be added if paid in 12 instalment,

If you know you know grin grin

Appreciation post!!!

Special appreciation to all that have taken their time to freely share their experience with others on this platform, this has helped many myself inclusive in settling down and subsequently growing in the UK. A journey that would naturally have been a difficult one was greatly eased by your selflessness and desire in seeing others succeed in areas where you have in the time past struggled.

My modest growth in the few years I've lived here can be greatly traced to this platform. I maxed out my ISA allowance for the first time in the last tax year (hopefully 1st of many to come), became a homeowner early last year + a substantial career boost.

I'm echoing what others have said in the past that the wealth of resources available on this platform is unbelievable, underestimate it at your own peril. To those just coming in, it can only get better from here on, take advantage of every resource available here, in the midst of those banters are life changing gems. Wish us all success and growth in this land. May we all eat the good of the land.

I like this....we keep winning 🥇

Please, I need more information on building insurance.
Is it better to take one, or allow the lenders do so?
What insurance companies are the best?
What covers do the insurance provide?

Thank you in advance

l will prefer shopping my own insurance than allowing the lender to give me one.

l am going with my car insurance company (Admiral) for Building + Content insurance, their quote was cheaper than what l got in the compare the market quotes. This is because l already have a car insurance policy with them, so adding another policy is cheaper.

Is bua food bigger than the combination of Dangote 3 companies. The capitalization of bua food is being manipulated by rabiu as he controls very high percentage of the company shares What is bua production capacity and the percentage of market share in that sector. I know alhaji has highest capacity for sugar/market share in nigeria. I don't know about salt and rice

You won't go wrong with Dangote....no need to explain too much grin

As an ex-investment banker, I will tell you that it is just a catchy advert.

1. Earn up to 8.09% - no guarantee that it will be up to 8.09%. It is not a fixed rate and it is subject to prevailing market conditions (US interest rate is currently 5.5%)
2. Interest is gross - subtract tax, management & interest fees, net interest rate might be 4% -5% or lower

If you know you know... grin

Egbons in the house.

Please has anyone invested in Gtbank Dollar fund? According the advert they offers over 8% interest rate. That's far better than you can get in any UK bank, it can even out perform S&S ISA.

The fact that it is dollar dominated mean offers additional protection to the naira rollercoaster madness.

It said upto 8%...not 8%

You know there's annual maintenance fee of $10 for Domiciliary accounts in Nigeria?

What lf CBN seize all funds dollar accounts in Nigeria and force everyone to withdraw naira equivalents?

Always think of RISK MANAGEMENT in all investments

I totally agree with this statement. I called someone to come hang my 65" tv. The guy dey charge me £60.....60 kini, na so i enter Facebook market, find £10 correct cordless drill, enter wilko bought the kits and tv hanger. I tell madam to prepare pounded yam in the morning for strength. By afternoon we're already charged up. Na so i begin DIY work. Brethren, me and madam lift the tv up after i don connect all the hangers and all. I do my thing myself and i was very pleased and proud. Next stop wey i dey plan na to install wallpapers myself and do some paintings. This Uk will teach you skills.

Painting and wall papers are my next step soon grin

I learnt that It would be concluded before the end of third quarter.

But I will advise you set December as your holding period

Similarly, I also learnt that Dangotesugar would be the coy that would metarmopised to DangoteFood where holder of Nascon would swap 11 of their shares for 10 of Dangotesugar and also holder of Rice would also swap their holding with Dangotesugar

This is not 100% confirmed but may be near the truth.

Thank you for sharing this information

I wash my cars every week....... So cannot justify dashing money away........ Money does not grow on trees....... 🤣😜

If i put that £30*4 on $VOO, do you know how my portfolio would be now........ Or simply put that money into my SIPP...... Do you know how much HMRC would be topping up every month (let's even forget about the share value appreciation)....... 🤣

If you know you know....

My SHO did one DIY in our office one day, l was surprised how she did the thing very easily. That was the day l learned DIY is the best way to go...
