Oga lexus, can you add some numbers to this so some of us about to start this journey understand and take advantage of this.

Which numbers are you referring to?

Driving test date: 25 August 2023.

Driving instructor is charging £30 per hour (using my car) or £40 per hour (using his car).

Are these rates not too high?

He's proposing a 10 hour lesson.

PS: My Naija licence don expire.

Go with the instructor's car

It is not additional job if your working with the same company that sponsored your COS. Remember pay as you earn (PAYE )

I just think of putting my little thoughts on this discussion.....

If you're good in the capital market, invest the funds in equity market in Nigeria via you are stockbroker.

You will achieve both capital appreciation and dividend payments until some selected listed companies.

Some of us invested in Access Bank shares when it was trading at N6 to N8 with dividend payments of 50kobo to 80kobo per share few years ago.

An investor with 1m units of Access bank at N8 and 800k dividend payment 2 years ago is now getting N1.5m dividend in 2022 dividend payment and capital appreciation to N14 per share currently.

If you're not interested in the capital market, make effort to invest the fund in the FGN bonds (not FGN savings bond) through your stockbroker or through your bank ( l use stanbic ibtc bank).

Some investors with 10m invested in FGN bonds 2050 at 18% yield in 2018 are getting 1.8m bonds coupon payments (900k every 6months) till maturity (2050) and get your 10m back.

There's possibility of increase dividend payments and price appreciations in good profitable companies in stock market ( remember to monitor the quarterly performance of the company) while your capital fund and coupon payments in FGN bonds are static till maturity ( remember inflation and naira devaluations..but this may not affect you much since your giving the funds as your naira charity obligations)

You can decide to be paying your naira obligations with either the dividend payments or coupon payments in the above two scenarios.

For me, l go for the stock market since l know how the stock market works (17+ years in the market).

If you feel like investing in NYSE, some good dividend paying stocks with upto 6-10% dividend yield in the NYSE market exit. You can be using the quarterly dividend payments in dollars, convert it to naira and settle the naira charity obligations.

Many ways to play the card....

As am alive is the grace of God and I will still achieve and impact into the life of my generation by God grace.

Apple will continue to appreciate in price and also in stocksplits.

I participated in the last Aaple shares stocksplit...both the number of units and price have increased so far. I am still buying more Apple shares currently as a longterm investor in both NSE and NYSE markets.

You should do yout due diligence on it and have long-term view.

I use Trading212, though.

Have you tried Trading212 recently? It could have re-started accepting Nigerian residents.

The run has been impressive since May 29. Sadly, I no longer hold any position in that market.

Meffy's exit abi na suspension propelled market ratings to a 15 year all-time high. It could get better if the speculation of a unified exchange rate (devaluation) holds true.

Hopefully, Tinubu can consolidate on these quick wins, improve security and economy as well.

I am a long-term investor in the market.

Haven't sold anything.

Good seeds sown over the years are yielding maximum profits and dividend payments

He should prepare for court case or pay fine + points on his future UK driving licence

Good evening everyone,

A colleague of mine who doesn't have a license and sadly drove above the speed was issued a notice of intended prosecution. Please how can he go about this as he doesn't have a driver's license

He's been here for about a year

Hmmm

Why not speed awareness course if this is his first offence?

Why drive without any DL, even a UK provisional license?

Any option of paying a fine alone?

Better he pays the fine

That family friend is a gambler and requires rehab......... Who does that....... 🤣😳

Funds you put on the stock market, must be with a long term view....... Even when stocks are under preforming, it's still a floating loss (until you sell a losing position or firm goes belly up).........

I held Transcorp Nigeria plc shares for 15 years from N7 and l averaged down to N1.4 until this year when Otedola came and helped me moved the share price to N3.12 to N3.15 where sold the shares currently. grin

Please after registrating for a provisional license, what's next?

I've read here about an App you pay for to start studying for the theory test but don't know what it's called again.

Advice needed please 🙏🏽

All I can say is this, from the good and the bad, learn from it, and share your experience with others in a way they can learn from it too and make a better decision.

Going to any country as a student might mean going down the food chain. You have to fight your way up. Sometimes even with your previous experiences, you may still face the “you don’t have this location experience” problems.

Someone shared a road map of immigrants/immigrating. Can’t remember who, but it was some weeks ago, how people see UK from different lenses based on number of years lived in the country. It’s funny but very true. Traveling abroad is not so easy, especially when you realize those easy/good stories are not all true.

At this minute, the only reason I can advise anyone to go abroad will be on work sponsored visas (not care because they offer free sponsorships), but sponsorship from a profession you are passionate about (professional or building a career in -which could be care).

If you are not coming sponsored, then be prepared for anything including rejections and starting from the bottom of the food chain. Learn from people’s experience and build a good mindset for yourself. Your mind need to be strong to withstand difficult circumstances/situations. But the mindset built on your own is not the same as the one you copy. It is stronger and has more faith.

In our Nigerian lingo: Everyone go de alright las las. Just believe and keep putting in the work. It will surely payoff.

Very apt.

I shared the different phases of Japaa experience here some weeks ago.

My wife and l came on work visa and both of us are doing the same work and same levels we were in Nigeria as both university lecturer and medical doctor respectively.

I understand the students route is not easy for the students and their dependents, but they should not give up.

Things always get better if we do not give up......we should all keep pushing to go up the food chain as TIME passes.

It's for us to keep working towards where we want to be.....nothing is impossible to whosoever that believes....

The job market is also similar.

I have an Indian friend who was a Banker back home, his wife who is also a Banker had the opportunity to be transferred to the UK on a Tier 2 visa. Same time, coincidentally, they got their Canada kini. Of course, they rushed to Canada. After staying for a month and meeting other Bankers who had moved before them and informed them that it was difficult to get a job at similar level in their home Country without the mighty "Canadian Experience" in industries outside Health and Techie Tech; plus the weather was so so bad, it was boring, etc etc, they quietly accepted the offer of the wife and moved to the UK. The Husband got a £50k+ job in a month, and in less than a year, got another of £60k+... He has his Canadian PR but never returned till date.

My wife's friend visited from Canada and couldn't believe how cheap things are in UK.

Canada... UK... Will always be pros and cons with both sides equalling out but Nigerians will always complain sha grin

The UK/Nigerian comparison is the funny one and typically done by folks who have not lived in both Countries in the past few years. Those who have lived in Naija, earning well and moved to this place know the CLEAR difference.

No need to talk too much my bro

UK has been so good for me and my family despite us well settled in Nigeria before moving to UK some few years ago....Ever grateful to the UK because of the opportunities my wife and l found here and children are happy too.
