You should first ask of the source of crude before speaking of refining tech
Your argument still doesn't justify pollution as an option!

The products are of low quality, the army cant use it themselves, they are not properly refined
Then there should be a better way for disposal than pollution. It still gets to same point am making. The S&T unit has the capacity improve the quality. The did it those days so why can't it be done now better technology can be applied. Pollution of land and water ways is still not the best. The oil on the waters affect the Navy too both in mobility and damage to boats and ships. So it should never be an option

PRESS RELEASE
6 DIVISION NIGERIAN ARMY INTENSIFIES OPERATIONS AGAINST CRIMINAL ELEMENTS WITHIN ITS AREA OF OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

1. In line with its constitutional mandate, barely 2 months after its formal operationalization, the 6 Division Nigerian Army Port Harcourt has stepped up operations to deter various criminal acts being perpetrated within its Area of Responsibility (AOR). These operations include; Anti-Illegal Oil Bunkering, Anti-Kidnapping, Anti Robbery, Anti-Cultism, Anti- Piracy as well as Stop and Search Operations against other sundry crimes being committed against law-abiding and peace loving citizens of the Niger Delta with huge successes recorded so far.

2. Most recently on 4 September 2017, troops of 6 Division Garrison, Port Harcourt on routine Anti-Bunkering patrol to Elechi and Abonnema Wharf discovered and destroyed several quantities of suspected illegally refined Automated Gas Oil. In a similar operation conducted by troops of 29 Battalion Tactical Headquarters, Bille, Rivers State troops encountered armed illegal bunkerers short of Feropkakama a notorious bunkering site, who on sighting troops opened fire. However, the gallant troops repelled the attack and pursued the scampering criminals deep in to the creeks with many of them sustaining gun shot wounds. Unfortunately, 2 brave soldiers were wounded in action, one of them critically but both are responding positively to treatment at a military facility in Port Harcourt.

3. In another development, troops of 3 Battalion (Rear), Warri continue to dominate their AOR with the conduct of Stop and Search Operations with a view to maintaining the fragile peace that exists in the area and to identify, detect and intercept criminals, arms and ammunition within the area. This proactive measure has significantly reduced attacks on innocent communities particularly along Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja boundary, Isaba community, Mofor, Okwuokwuoko, Warri/Sapele and other notable hot spots around Warri metropolis.

4. In a follow-up operation conducted on 5 September 2017 by troops of 29 Battalion Tactical Headquarters, Bille, Rivers State to the notorious illegal bunkering site at Feropkakama Camp where the troops had an encounter the previous day, more success was recorded as troops discovered 14 Pump Action catridges, 4 empty AK 47 magazines, 8 pumping machines and several other illegal bunkering tools while a massive manhunt in conjunction with other sister security agencies is under way to track down and arrest the fleeing criminals in order to bring them to justice.

5. In a related development, troops of 130 Battalion in Harris Town, Rivers State arrested one of the notorious kidnap kingpins known as Mr David Owhor AKA Chile who along with his gang members (at large) have been terrorising innocent people along East-West Road between Port Harcourt and Choba general area. The suspect is currently in military custody making useful confessions and assisting security agencies in making tremendous progress in the investigation that will lead to the eventual arrest of other gang members.

6. The Division wishes to thank all peace loving citizens of the region particularly those that are voluntarily assisting the Command with vital and timely information that is aiding us to achieve positive results in our efforts to protect lives and properties of all citizens and create a conducive atmosphere for peaceful co-existence. The Command also wishes to restate it's commitment to crushing all forms of crime against the Niger Delta people by criminal elements within the region.

7. You are kindly requested to disseminate the above information to the general public for awareness. Thank you for your usual cooperation.

AMINU ILIYASU
Colonel
Deputy Director Army Public Relations.

@bidex111
This is still my major problem on way the army handle thir operations in the Niger Delta. They should stop further destruction of farmlands and environmental degradation in the name fighting militancy. Why burning method? Why pouring those petroleum products on land and the rivers? This is harmful to the environment and fishes and aquatic life dies in the process. They are aiding oil spillage and it also causes some hard time to the navy mobility too because oil in the rivers. The Army has transport unit (S&T), this petroleum products should be converted to their use as it will also save resources. No matter how hard it is for us to accept it, Nigeria needs modular refineries. What the Army is doing now is causing more harm than good and creating more reasons for youths to take up arms in the already restive Niger Delta region. Professionalism is lacking in their modus operandi in that region. Oil war can't be won by guns and bullets. They should have won that by now. Late President Yar Adua saw the view and was on the right track before the inevitable happened.

No he is not lying, he is right. Go in with employment visa and b4 u board your flight, make sure the company you intend to work with releases your 'ok to board' order. That way,it shows they are aware you are coming and you are their employee.. It the company that will work the visa for you.

Nigerian navy and army joint oops in the niger delta creeks
Pics 1 & 2 are the real reasons why the creek fight in niger delta won't end. We have to look for alternatives than this method of touching recovered products. those sites should be converted to modular refineries and placed under the supervision of the ministry of environment. But what u see now is the result of lack of trust within the govt and niger-deltans are suffering thereby increasing ttheir frustration and giving them more reason to return to the creek because their farm lands can't grow crops anymore. Their rivers are no exception. Do u know that BAYELSA STATE depends solely on near by states for durable and drinkable water?!!!!!

@henry240 @jakeporeshenko @odunayaw I saw this variant of AK with Soldiers serving under 'Operation Delta Save' at the creeks last week and yesterday night too at 146 battalion calabar. I thought its being uses by rangers alone?. Are we gradually seeing the faze out of the obj006 Ak47? What is the update on the total over haul of the primary rifle of the NA? Cos I learnt dicon will soon start production of the beryl rifle.

Boko Haram Attack in Edo State?

Interesting.

Hope this is not a political ploy, by the remaining of the PDP Loyalists in the DSS and NPF to postpone an election that the APC has wrapped up already?Anthony Anenih the Criminal, was a Top Policeman, and i know he still maintains his contacts in the NPF.

At the end of the day, Adams Oshiohmole is the Chief Security Officer of The State, and if he does not find the report credible, he should go ahead with the election.

APC has Edo State already.

Actually, this is why we have reps and senators. There is no way a minister in Abuja can know about all the roads in the country, there's also no way he can read the text of every citizen, that's why our reps/senators are supposed to be doing. Stay in your constituency and every time you go to Abuja, you go with the complaints of your people.

Its also another reason why we need true Federalism, makes no sense for someone in Abuja to be responsible for a road in Asaba.

well said!!! true federalism is the future

So you expect him to see every road in the country that is bad instead of your people to call on the government to come fix their road they busy shouting biafra, why didn't their messiah GEJ fix the road before he left power

you are clown! u must really think you are making sense. this same govt were busy spending scare resources on their so called town hall meetings and people in attendance complained on the nature of their Fed roads. were they deft to listen to those ones? how long can we keep blaming GEJ while things keep deteriorating the more. if the present govt knows GEJ didnt perform, atleast things shouldn't get to worst under them. we shuld be on thesame level GEJ left the economy or slightly above. #WeSayNoToTheBlameGames
