Litmus: So, to you, love of nation is about financial rewards...which was why i introduced the Boko terrorists dimension. You can see that since soldiering can also be viewed in terms of career, it makes little sense to infer that soldiers should or should not die for the Nation...
in other words, you're mixing sentiments with practicality, having your cake and eating it,which you shouldn't do if you want to make a strong case for why Nigerians shouldn't be patriotic, which is a largely sentimental position
in such a sentimental position as patriotism the extent of political corruption usually makes no difference...love of place of birth is all bro, am just being a realist! how many of those soldiers have life insurance cover? patriotism goes beyond arguments on nairaland. have u visited the general hospital lately in maidugri? or even the military facility there? well you are entitled to your opinion and so are my. less just focus on the thread so we dont derail it. |

Litmus: What do you mean by "this country is not worth die for?"
.....such an odd statement when one thinks about it
.....Bokos are dying for something. Each terrorist presumably enjoy no more electricity than the average Nigerian. He enjoys no better roads, expects less loyalty from comrade and leadership, enjoys no better home comforts; expects he'd be killed in another part of the Nation if discovered quicker than an average Nigerian would expect because of his ethnicity....
He is dying for a dream, you might say
But you too can die for the dream of a better Nigeria... Don't bring those boko boys into comparison here please! !! Do know how much those boy rake in from their foreign and local sponsors? We keep up the fight as @Henry240 earlier stated but when it gets to dying point, you can do that alone... we will die for a better Nigeria when we the youths are ready to get hold of our long throat and start revolting against those Selfish Idiots ruling Nigeria. I once fought for what I believed in this country. ... but I have come to learn one or two about this politicians! !! I still maintain its not worth dying for pally! |

bidexiii: Not worth die for at all.......
I saw pictures of those soldiers killed in Bosso, Niger states....all stalked in a van vehicle. Also two soldiers with there brains smashed out of there skulls in Niger Delta, very horrifying.
Yet there top brass, embezzling funds meant for equipping them, joint the army should not mean signing my death warrant. bros, its so bad that even the little ones they succeed in buying gets to the hands of BH in the north east and militants in the Niger Delta! when u here the NDA boosting, dont take the threat lightly, its real shit bro. the issue of the barracks raid, the army should hold themselves responsible. there must be a BH sympathiser their. even so, why will the army continue allowing cattle rearers into the barracks? ooops i even forgot, those cattle are owned by the senior officers and CO's.... their stupidity is rendering alot of children fatherless, dashing hopes of families and creating more widows |

Henry240: We are just hopeless and Irredeemably corrupt! "I don't understand."
If you see the recent "arms audit report", God knows, you'll shed tears. Our military leaders are just too corrupt..... Jesus Christ!
It is so brazen and in your face, it's so unfortunate. If the past military/politicians leaders don't burn in hell, nobody on earth would go to hell.
Thank God, we have all them Dasuki, Amosu, Badeh and the rest in jail. Witch-hunt or not, the levels of corruption in the military has to stop.
I mean, we paid for 42 second hand T-72 Tanks at over $2.2 million a unit. That's unit price of a brand-new Tank. The company who collected $2.2 million dollars from us for each of those Tanks, filled a lawsuit in the US explicitly stating that a similar T-72 for which Nigeria paid 2.2 million dollars for cost them $88,000. I just pity those soldiers who died in the North east and Niger Delta. this country is not worth die for! this attitude of the use of middle men in the Niger Delta which is even within the territory is part of what is still increasing the struggle and restiveness in the region! Our govt is fantastically corrupt. |

HungerBAD: Good.
Exactly why his appointment of this man has my blessings. He knows the man has integrity, and that he is somebody he can trust to head the affairs of the NDDC. which integrity?!!! Sen NDOMA EGBA lacks the lowest level of integrity. through out his tenor as the number 3rd citizen, he never built any road or capital project for his constituency. the only road he built in his community {Akparabong community in IKOM LGA} was when he did his late Fathers burial, he only constructed the road leading to his house and never went further than his gate. his community lacks basic amenities like road, bore holes etc. because of his selfishness towards his people, he lost in his own ward during the last general election to Sen Owan Enoh. cross river state is a state without a single motor-able Fed road. PMB is a bigot and should stop blaming the past administration for his inability to rule this nation because he keep bring in same people he is blaming that was in power for the past 16yrs back to govt even when they were rejected by their own people. this administration is filled with failures,Layabouts and nincompoops |

jiggaz: Billionaire heiresses, Temi Otedola and DJ Cuppy were featured in UK’s Daily Mail and referred to as “Britain’s new super-rich” as they currently lead a jet-set lifestyle and enjoy all the trappings of wealth.
In the article, Cuppy Otedola, said
“when she is working in Nigeria she needs to travel with a security team in a bullet proof car due to the risk of robbery and kidnapping”.
This is the reason she much happier in London and has recently moved into her own apartment there.
She also said “London is bliss as I can walk down Brompton Road without a worry in the world. In Lagos I can’t say “I am going out for two hours”, I have to go with people, take security, my dad needs to know where I am. None of my other DJ friends need security, it is kind of his fault so he has to pay for it”.
Her sister Temi, who is studying for a degree in art history at University College London, gave her own reason for loving London as “We have done Dubai and Paris but always come back to London. You have the luxury shops, luxury cars, luxury houses, you can spend the money you have worked hard making”.

IF U wld recall years back wen prince Charles arrogantly referred to Afghan fighters as 'ragheads'. it was an eyesore; royalty was shaken, but d issue swept under the carpet. from visual experience, so many anomalies happen everyday especially in US Army- pls look it up on the net the country with highest rate of abuse females in its military; Russia sef na bullying- a military covert operation that harm civilians is blamed on criminal gangsetc. so many but well managed and accepted by the populace. Guy,What happened is bad, there is no two way to define the truth but how many times have such occured? I tell u dat u would never condone d kind of effrontery of some of this 'EX Almajiris' put up cos off excessive intake of Tramadol/ tramol .if they can stone dia governor and a one time president, they can try anybody. they could be nasty and they need their Bleep ups treated in some areas where they'll be tamed. i believe u'll see my point bro. Admiring a military personnel wldnt cause dis rather I'll advise u shd kindly see the truth behind the video and not judge based on one OPs title. we shd ask : 'WETIN this young northern guy go find inside their DEN?' that ground ure seeing is not a public place. its right in their DEN...and of course he shdnt expect a romance when he crosses the line . Those girls are ur sisters and friends who left everything to serve our country. and imagine d challenging environment of core and rigid military training theyre subjected to with ocassional taunts and insults from riff raffs hawking sugar cane and even dare encroach their territory ...theyre harmless on a good day but dont test their flanks cos u'll testify to d fact that a Lioness could be more lethal in disposition than a lion. Bro,they are not the only one serving their fatherland.what kind of nasty maltreatment is that? No matter what! US soldiers and other countries are serving there fatherland too but they don't exercise there frustration on the citizens. It's this same attitude that makes the rest of the world mock our military. They should go and form boss in sambisa forest period!!! We need them their.sambisa forest should be their DEN |

ijustdey: http://www.punchng.com/city-news-feature/cross-river-gov-trapped-on-calabar-ikom-road/
Picture of the trailer that blocked the road this particular road can never be ok due to the below reasons : 1; the present Governor Prof Ben Ayede mortgaged the life of cross rivarians just to get to that seat. He had an agreement with the the nit-wit and mob-star call governor Liyel Imoke to hand over construction of all major roads in the state to his patent company #Sermatech. Sermatech has a history of abandoned and sub standard project execution. As a construction company, they have never completed any major contract ever awarded to them. 2; The original contractors that has been working on that road is CCECC and they did a wonderful job from Ikom-Alesi. they also built a well designed drainage system and culverts for the road to control erosion. the same CCECC was to handle the road up to Ugep but corruption, greedy for power anti people agreements will cause pains on cross riverians because the contract has been revoked and given to Liyel imoke patent company #sermatech, a well known rogue company. 3; The present governor spends more of his time and money on car purchases and causing nuisance to people with his noisy siren and bikers' riders. Solution : 1; The process of awarding the contract for the reconstruction of that road should be probed. 2; The contract of such magnitude should be given to reputable companies like JB,Arab contractors,Setraco,CCECC,RCC and not street contractor like sermatech. conclusion: Cross Rivarians should learn to hold their leaders accountable and companies like #Sermatech and Lillikard should be kick out of the state . |
