Watch that space. its the next big sector in the market. Things take time . Every aspects of our lives in Nigeria are under insured . Changes are coming . Synagogue crashed and Naicom released a statement. if it were before , na wetin agbero with overload . All the power projects will have to be insured in one way or the other . Think future , do your home work and when the recapitalizations and consolidations are made, I do not think you will hate insurance stocks again. Do you know how much most of these banks were pre soludo consolidation? Remember you are in the market to make money and never lose cognizance of that

Agbalowomeri:

Bros there is a linear relationship between ROE and PBV. I used to be glued on PE sometimes ago, no wonder some stocks will trade at almost the same PE forever. To determine that a stock is undervalued, one needs to see where the stock's data lies on the smoothed curve of PBV versus ROE (please dexter help). For example, if PBV is on the y-axis and ROE is on the x-axis, any stock that falls below the smoothed line is likely undervalued. One may need to do a research on the possible value of the gradient; perhaps this would likely differ from sector to sector. I think I have seen a similar graph in one proshare's document.

So, if a stock is trading at PBV of 0.5 and a PE of 4 and the ROE is 8 and you think it is cheap? Bros it is just rightly valued! But if a stock trades at PBV of 1.0 and the audited ROE is 25, bros you won't get this kind of bargain anywhere in the market! Please if u do abeg just let me know. That is why a stock with a high ROE will always be more expensive. For example, Stanbic's PE is already taking over from GTB because the ROE has moved higher than that of GTB, the same reason GTB traded a higher PE than its peer all along, the same reason it appears FBNH is getting cheaper by the day because of its depreciating ROE.

Back to Afriprud; ROE here is around 25 (I'm projecting it to year end 30 as it appears from history their earnings increase towards year end), PBV is currently around 1.5. Now for an ROE of 25 in the global market, PBV should be around 3.0 and above. Now you can see it is cheap to me. Then the dividend payout ratio appears to be high. Finally, strong growth!

Ogbeni Well done . we learn everyday . There is something i am going to work on from this post and i get your drift perfectly. i been think say you dey watch carling cup .I surprise to see your post for here for half time. Well done and thanks for sharing

@UkwuAmu; I do not like that ur post on Myjoy08 afterall most analysts do make wrong calls a lot, albeit sometimes intentionally. Allow people make the mistake of depending solely on someone else's opinion for investment decisions. That is part of the learning process. If you have not made one or two mistakes, it would be difficult for you sometimes to know where not to thread. Cheers

Elai147: I think it is best to respect everyone's view on Oando. If someone perceives that there is something wrong with a company and decides to share it, there is nothing wrong in doing so. We should learn to control our emotions and not let it affect our investment decisions. Stop hating those that share negative sentiment about Oando. Our risk tolerance should factor in the state of our finances. I still maintain the idea of not investing money you can't afford to lose in the stock market or in a stock like Oando. Those that have the money to risk should carry on and not be dissuaded by other people's negative perception on the stock. After all Oando may also go the way of FO. The market has a mind of its own and anything is possible, especially in the NSE. As far as I'm concerned, I will not do a long term investment in Oando (for now) but will continue to trade on the stock and make good money whenever opportunity knocks.

@UkwuAmu, I dey hail from the sidelines. Thanks for that wonderful post...

myjoy08: Sir/Ma, all is well said and analyse. But unfortunately, market (stock) doesn't understand all this analysis and euphoria theorem explained by the gurus in the house. So let's leave emotion out of this because one person will be right or wrong in this game as its continue.

Remember market comprises of different people: Those who know how to make money, those who knows the number and fundamentals right, those who works on information, those who never believe anything well said, and so on. Let's everyone work on what works best for him or her.

I remember one quote that stated don't follow people who say the right thing but rather follow people who do the RIGHT thing. Goodluck to everyone!
If there is anything i like in myjoy , it is that you can never get under his skin . He writes it the way he knows and if it doesnt come well and you attack him , he moves on. I like that very much . Wish we could all be like you in that respect. Max respect

Sir Agba , why you dey buy Afriprud? Do you think they will be able to reproduce their EPS of last year? the PE get as e be (7) and its selling above book value. I know they doubled revenue . Its not a bad buy but I do not know if its a screaming buy. If you bought below 3 , PERFECT .

Aks: I have big issues with some contributors on this thread especially those with no single kobo in Oando Stock but keep on writing epistle upon epistle and -ve sentiment towards the stock. A bit of Sensible arguments BUT upon the whole, WHY CRY MORE THAN THE BEREAVED (Is it your money?). @ a time, the issue is Oando will never release any result, Later WT promised to release @ a date but reneged on his promise (Debates all over that resulted in calling him names), @ Last, a result was released with a dividend and interim dividend proposed, there is still lots of argument as to why the stock is not worth investing in.

There are diverse interpretaion on the FS released depending on the side you are, use the info therein to make investment decision if you like, if not, move on and invest in other stock and not just join the bandwagon of writing epistles (SOme think it's a form of educating peeps on the thread) that are needless cos majority that invested already are aware of issues (RISK) on ground i.e. MGT, Lack of risk mgt practices, funding issues and the likes.

Stock trading is not totally based on fundamentals alone, there are lot of other considerations as well when making investment decision. I may stick to Oando today and drop it tomorrow based on dynamics and info available to me as an investor (Decision is mine and will never be based on your thesis)

@ Charlesnerd - thanks for the post.
Sir Aks why you dey vex? What i write is my personal opinion . You do not have to read it . I am not a professor or a preacher . I would rather somebody shows me the negatives on the stock I am buying rather than telling me you cannot go wrong with that stock. Wetin concern me? Go buy you Oando . Its your money . Next time you respond it will good to add a caveat that you own oando and so you maybe biased .
Take am easy and buy more Oando . Na my computer, bandwidth and my idea for internet forum i take dey write. I am happy you cant take that away from me. No need to get unnecessarily emotional.

The day anybody can quantify how to calculate investor's sentiment, the person might just become the biggest new hit in the stock Market . Oando has come out with the result finally and the forum is alive. I can see a lot of flip flopping and everybody is quick to interpret the result depending on what side the person is .
The truth of the matter is a lot of people do not know what they are getting their hands into . Upstream investing is very different from downstream. There is no short term in Upstream , its capital intensive, short term in upstream is like 10 years . I would like people in this forum to educate themselves on this so that they fully appreciate what they are getting into. For you to succeed in upstream, you must have Good management, Good corporate governance, transparency, accountability and above all meticulous planning . One major incident can take the company to the cleaners ( does anybody remember the BP Spillage of the gulf of mexico? ) The company lost close to 100 Billions dollars YES 100 Billion.
Now Oando is venturing into upstream, they need a lot of cash from what we can see from the financial statement yet they are giving away cash in form of dividends. We also hear they might also do a right sales to raise capital . Is everything going okay here? I have heard a lot of people here saying owners of the company are doing their best to crash the price so that they can mop up. Would not paying dividends be the best way to crash the price . If you are sure of what you are doing, all you need do is to assure shareholders that you are at transitioning phase and some projects going forward will require a lot of capital. Tell them you wont be able to pay dividends now but in like 3 years from now, you will take the company to a new level .
What we are seeing is a company who is more interested in the price of the stock rather than the plan for the company by trying to buy investor's favour by paying dividend from money that they need and in turn will get the money back from the rights sales .
From experience, any company that is more interested in the price of the stock rather than a good plan for the company has no interest of the shareholders .
Like I mentioned earlier there are certain qualities that are required from companies going into upstream. I think Oando management has got everything figured out . If things do not go the way they plan, there will be only one loser -The Shareholders
I will be watching this company with very keen interest and the Nigerian in me really wish they do well . Am I confident ? Not the antecedent they have shown . A Leopard does not change its skin overnight . Will people make money ? Yes if you are insider and knows what is going on . Should I invest in oando or not - my answer - SIDDON LOOK. if you hammer i celebrate with you at Mama Ejiro
There are a lot of other companies out there that you do not have to be waking up 10 times at night to see if there is any update on Oando.
People can keep deceiving themselves to think they have a strong mind by saying investing in Oando is not for the faint-hearted . I wonder how many of those invested in Oando do not get palpitations from time to time with their oando investment . The new one being cooked now is their third quarter result which will reflect he COP will blow out the exchange. We dey watch. Good luck to all

Sir, i don't think there will be any right because Oando and FO are in advanced stage of negotiations concerning the selling of Downstream Sector of Oando to FO. Expect some news so soon concerning the deal and how much FO will pay in cash and equities (In FO) if everything went well. So let's see how things unfold sha...(I might be wrong...)
Like you are most times for the bolded . Nothing is conclusive yet and Aiteo is in the picture right now. Aiteo is bidding for upstream assets and are favoured to get one . You must realize that you have become a kind of cult figure for some people in this forum and they take what you say as gospel truth because we are incredulously gullible people . The same reason why a prophet will see Air malaysia airline crashing but not see his building collapse . I would advise you to slow down .

Chairman I hail oooo. These days I just dey observe. The bears have unleashed the Dragon and the real Prophets have been found out. This is the time to know who a real investor is . Not a lot of Bargains in the market . occassional pops in some stocks due to the Arabians buying into the market . Oxygen boys continue to confuse and confound not just speculators and investors but also themselves. Mercy is feeling hip with her advanced JIJO trading system. Sir Agba just chilling and waiting to make 200 percent from his well loved stock. Born has taken over my joy as the prophet of the house . That dude Ihedoriomma cracks me up with the way he writes. Is there anybody in the forum who does not need to re-read what he writes before you comprehend? Anyways he is stil a BITL . . Sir Elai why has thy forsaken me? For the chairman when are you giving us another rap verse? Omoajo is is sophiscated international investor. Alibaba will make a lot of people millionaires . Sir Dex we go begin use dictionary to understand your coding and you got a patner in crime in Omaojo. They will confuse you with their good command of the language that they can tell you to go eat shit and you will gladly and smilingly obey because the apt way they will put it . Immanuelo stop wasting your megabytes . your posts are always in duplicate abi you be efiko . Make you no write the same answer for 2 questions for exam oooo. I greet all of you here .
Marketwise like I said There isnt really any bargain . Hold your money . Also be careful with companies whose corporate governance leaves much to be desired . Be patient. when a good company is beaten beyond belief plunge in . Do not hold more than 3 stocks at a time . it makes no sense . do you know what it means for you to gain 10 kobo if you hold 10 million units of a share ? just imagine that same stock gains 1 Naira? I will still say be patient. There will be a turbulent period where there will be a sell off . Its going to happen and after that, the signal will come. Believe in God but always remember to lock your car . Once again I hail

Toluway: Stocks recommendation does not translate to permutation or prophecy that the stock will rise tomorrow. It is only a function of due diligence, having considered multifarious factors.

Hot stocks picks in terms of fundamentals and technical consisiderations:
Livestock
Presco
Okomu
Cornerstone
Japaul @ #0.50.
Please tackle me if you think they are not.

Sir Tolu I find your picks very interesting and you asked us to tackle you if we think they are not while I agree with most of your picks on long term basis , I do not know what fundamentals support Livestock. The stock ran beyond its valuation when UACN bought into it . I wonder what your parameters are for choosing livestock. I do not believe in japaul but I am down with all your other stocks . Can you give me a little more education on Livestock or is it just the bright prospect of the Agriculture sector that you are discounting into it. The PE na die . Thanks in advance
