Both are very viable ventures, but I will advise you in addition to both of them, try plant cocoa in-between them, it's a very good idea, cocoa don't like too much son, so the palm and coconut tree will provide a perfect shade for the cocoa tree. Mind you cocoa after 3 years start giving you money same as the palm tree depending on the species you plant.
fcwilly@yahoo.com
For further information.
Teak plants even yield more quickly than cocoa and coconut plant,it's more viable, and can be harvested forever it never declines you see cocoa before it matures, start flowering, and even after fruiting fulani bandit/herdsmen can set their cattles to the farm it(cocoa)is grown once they devour the trees and even with the cocoa pods the rest they set fire on it(that's their modus operandi in ipoti, ikoro,Ijero, epe axis of ekiti here)and the cocoa will never grow again until you replant it.But you see teak it's then it will even grow robustly the more it's like fire or ashes is a fertilizer to it.

moreover this cocoa it was only beneficial to those who had already had the trees for years and it was already fruiting before because the surge in price is seasonal I have an uncle and also a neighbour who his great grandparents (the latter)had a cocoa farm and also buys and sells It what it was sold for last year is not what it's sold for now a module was up to 13k - 13,500k last year but now this same module hardly can you sell it for 4k so it was only upper and last year it boomed in price now assuming someone wants to now use that as a comparison to start planting a cocoa tree which even takes longer to grow and fruits then their is no probability it may not even survive because of the useless fulani marauders and even if it does and their is no boom in price again it will be a wasted efforts

I am just giving a piece of my advice the op should do what will suit and work best for him though!

If you are destined to be destroyed and spiritually remoted even be a saint micheal you will still have misfortunes Rashidi yekini was disciplined yet still suffered this spiritual malady caused by jilting his girlfriend who stood by him then same with one yoruba player from Ibadan football club then I think is name is olaleye or olajide something he was even signed to a foreign football club but as soon as he got over there he started developing eyes problem that all his money and even his fellow players money(kanu, okocha, taye taiwo etc contributed for him) was ruined on it yet this guy became blind at both eyes he is back in nigeria now.

I am not the author but the 1st Nigerian or indeed sub Saharan African to attend university was Olu Atuwarse of Warri. Many refer to him as crown prince of Benin Kingdom (hence why some erroneously say Benin) but he was actually from Warri. He is also referred to as Dom Domingos.

He attended a university in Portugal in 1600. I am sure 1600 predates 1879 (Macaulay) and I am almost certain the ibos had not had contact with the Europeans in 1600.

By the way FFK’s grandfather graduated in 1885.
Yes I just checked now it's olu atuwatse in 1600 but even Dr wiliam Broughton Davis preceded africanus James b horton as a medical doctor a year before he had qualified as a medical doctor in 1860 something he was a serria leone creole of yoruba origin and I am not even igbo

THIS IS SIMPLY THE REASON WHY HAUSAS, YORUBAS, EDO AND THE NIGER DELTA MAN WILL NOT TRUST THE IBO MAN AT THE CENTER AND WHY THE HAUSAS MAY NOT WANT TO RELINQUISH POWER IN NIGERIA

Any historians in the house to vet this but no insults or character assassination please:

Forgotten History Of Igbo Tribe And Northern Alliance.

Do you know that when Tafawa Balewa was Prime Minister of Nigeria;

Chief of Army Staff was from SE
Chief of Naval Staff was from SE
IG of Police was from SE
Chief of Defence Staff was from SE
Internal Affairs Minister SE
External Affairs Minister SE
Education Minister South SE
Many other key ministries to SE
Parliament President SE*
Unilag VC from SE
The University of Ibadan VC from SE
North resisted same at ABU!!!*

Still, there was dissatisfaction by SE, the officers from the region killed this same Balewa!!!*

*Out of all the most senior officers in Nigeria, SE has 37, none was killed. 8 from the north, all of them were killed. 10 from the west, 2 were killed.*

*Then Ironsi imposed a unitary system of government on the country so that everything can belong to a region who snatched it!*

*We must know our history so that when we want to make corrections, we will not end up concealing the truth.*

*This has nothing to do with tribalism but everything to do with the truth.....at times when lies litter the streets.*

*There is a tendency to think those are truths and facts.*

*What follows are documented facts that can be cross-checked for authenticity!"*

*Thou shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.*

* *“Prof. Ben Nwabueze was the man who drafted the constitution that took away powers from regions and handed it to the central government because his brother Aguiyi THEORY WOES IN NIGERIA TODAY:*

*The Igbo man is known to enjoy blaming the Hausa fulanis, Yorubas and indeed every other Nigerian tribe and Lord Luggard/Britain for their seeming claim of being in third class citizen status in Nigeria.*

*In their perpetual attempts to play the victim card, they recount the political events of Nigeria from 1914 to the present in a half-baked and highly selective manner which cleverly avoids the mention of the roles played by their elite who by all natural laws of judgement were actually responsible for the woes that befell not only the Igbo race but the entire Nigeria nation.*

*The story told in the post above is one of such selective and distorted accounts of history which the average Igbo man is fond of narrating.*

*However, the national archives have the complete and unedited history of Nigeria regarding the political events beginning way back from even before 1914.*

*I will therefore proceed to furnish my readers with the complete story for all to read and be endowed with enough facts so as to judge and act from an informed position.*

*Shortly after the 1914 Amalgamation of the Northern and Southern Protectorates, it started getting clear that the country was bound to fail as the amalgamation in question was done with colonial fiat without the consent and consensus of the different tribes which were over 300.*

*This prompted the political leaders to start asking for de-amalgamation so as to forestall the future danger which the forced amalgamation portended.*

*To that end, Ahmadu Bello, speaking on behalf of the Northern protectorate in 1944 described the amalgamation as* *"The mistake of 1914 which if allowed to remain will ultimately lead to unstoppable bloodshed and a failed country".*
*Awolowo, speaking on behalf of the Yorubas and Western minorities, described Nigeria as a mere geographical expression not qualified to be called a country let alone a nation.*

*Awolowo added that if the5 amalgamation could not be reversed, then Nigeria should be structured as a strictly federal state so as to enable each tribe enjoy autonomy this freedom from being dominated by any one single tribe.*

*But Nnamdi Azikiwe, speaking for the Igbos, denounced Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello, terming them ethnic champions.*

*He accused them of nursing a sectional agenda against the unity of Nigeria, and he declared further that the Unity of Nigeria was non-negotiable.*

*After moving the motion for independece in 1953, Anthony Enahoro proposed that a secession clause should be incorporated into the future constitution of Nigeria so as to give legal backing for any tribe to peacefully exit the forced union if it feels marginalized in future.*

*According to Enahoro, such provision in our constitution would instill in all Nigeria's future leaders the fear of the consequences of misgovernance.*

*But Azikiwe, speaking on behalf of Igbos, rose against him in the parliament and labelled him an agent of disunity, and enemy of Nigeria.*

*At a later date, Awolowo too made a case for secession clause, but Azikiwe again resisted him and instigated the colonial authorities to threaten him and Enahoro with charges of treasonable felony if they didn't stop proposing secession clause for the future constitution.*

*While Azikiwe did all these, Igbos cheered and urged him on because they felt the future Nigeria was theirs to dominate and lord it over every other tribe.*

*Before independece, Tafawa Balewa too had in a public speech described Nigeria as a British experiment and Nigeria's unity as a British intention which Nigerians themselves don't believe in. But Azikiwe kicked and demonized him too.*

*Had Azikiwe co-operated with Enahoro, Awolowo, Ahmadu Bello and Tafawa Balewa about the secession clause, Nigeria perhaps would not have been this misgoverned.*

*For those in doubt, here is a link of one of the numerous instances in which Nnamdi Azikiwe fought against the secession clause proposal for the future Nigeria constitution.*

*It should be noted that there were many Igbo members of the parliament in which Azikiwe fought against Awolowo's secession clause proposal in the link above, but not a single one of them rose against Azikiwe or condemned him.*

*Igbos initially never wanted to hear anything like secession in Nigeria because they so much believed, though falsely, that they were the most educated tribe. (The first Nigerian tribe to produce a university graduate is the Binis).*

*As an evidence of Igbo domination agenda hence their initial resistance to the idea of secession; here are some quotes:*

*"From all indications, the god of us Igbos have destined us to rule the whole of Africa"..... Nnamdi Azikiwe (1945).*

*"It is getting clearer each day that Igbo domination of Nigeria is just a question of time"... Oscar Onyeamma. (1949).*

*As at 1900, the whole of the present Benue State, Kogi East Senatorial District and some southern parts of Taraba State called Munchi District back then; were all in the Southern Protectorate.*

*Whoever doubts this should consult MacMillan Atlas for secondary schools in Nigeria. With that situation the South had a higher population than the North hence always had an upper hand in any democratic bargain.*

*But as at the early fifties when the regions were being created, common sense dictated clearly that these areas should fall in the future Eastern Region.*

*But against common sense, the colonial masters decided to gerrymander them into the Northern Region.*

*While they did that, Azikiwe who was supposed to be in Enugu fighting against it as the leader of the East, was far away in Ibadan struggling with Awolowo to rule the Western Region and also playing the spoiler role against Awolowo's attempts to have Kwara and present Kogi Yorubas carved into the Western Region from the North which was already too large by landmass.*

While he abandoned his burning house and was far away in Ibadan struggling against Awolowo for his own (Awolowo's) region, Igbos saw absolutely nothing wrong with that. Rather they applauded him as a nationalist.
Did you mean the first Nigerian university graduate is benin or the first graduat from a nigerian university is benin? Rev samuel ajayi crowther had already even graduated from fourah bay college in sierral Leone even before the first nigerian medical doctor who died in1879 at age 37 of small pox epidemic,in pre colonial lagos his name was nathaniel Philip he graduated from university of aberdeen (scotland) as at 1869 or so google it his grandparents were yoruba recaptive slaves from serria leone who settled back in abeokuta his grandparents were originally captured in a slave raid from the old oyo war and the oke odan war where dahomey army raided slaves from infact his grandpa was alaafin of abiodun of old oyo empire!!

followed by Dr John stone smith who later changed his slave trade name to Dr orisadipe obasa his recaptive great grandparents were were both grand children of the ikole ekiti king in and an egba royal family in pre atlantic slave trade era in nigeria infact Dr obasa's dad was a great grandson of king obasa of ikole ekiti then there are 3 royal families ruling in ikole I am not an ikole indigene but we lived there for 27 years, this former Dr John Smith eas the first senior boy of Methodist boys high school in bariga Lagos he had already became a medical doctor as at 1900 google is there for you followed by Rev samuel johnson who wrote the history of oyo and yoruba people and his younger brother Dr Obadiah Johnson, and Dr Leigh sodipe akinsiku all of them schooled in university in europe because U.I the first nigerian university had not been established then

Infact the first nigerian african university graduate ever though not based in nigeria as at then his grandparents were recaptive slaves of Igbo origin captured from the bonny slave raid freed in freetown serria leone his name was surgeon africanus b horton I had known this when I was reading makers of modern Africa volume 1 in my secondary school library I hate someone dishing out false information when did edo people start attending school let alone graduate from a university?

I am surprised many male nairalanders are even blaming the men thank God many of you be man too and you go old I pray you no go jam manipulate wives and seriously seun needs to do something about this spam bot that will just be banning people anyhow if not your forum members will reduce drastically imagine one can't express herself again even when your comment had no insults you will be banned!

Back to the topic I am a woman and I wonder how a Dad whose job description doesn't permit him closing before 7 will bond with the kids on weekdays if not only on weekend my mum was a retired teacher later became a principal who closes by 2:30 to 3 at times while my dad a lecturer and sometimes Hod closes by 6 and even after that organises meetings and seminars too so who will have time to bond with the kids more if the job description were reversed won't it be our dad who will bond with us more? still doesn't make my mom not loving us too especially as my mum also have holidays which will make her available to the kids more compared to my dad who even in his 8 years of lecturing I didn't think he had sabbatical more than 3 times and that was to further his studies

It's the job of a good wife to still impart in the kids that despite their dads job schedule doesn't allow him have enough time doesn't mean he isn't still caring for them more kids value things that are physical to them even though it's minute and perishable than more important things that will last more and will better their future my mom buys clothes and shoes for us yet we we will appreciate it more and even complained that my dad don't do this for us my mom will then caution us that so our dad who pays our school fees, buy books, take us for medical care ,and buys foodstuffs don't also care for us?or are they not even more important than shoes and clothes that will fade and tear and that we should always appreciate him the more also but you know some other wife's will never correct their kids and let them assume their father isn't loving or caring to them?
I am a mom now also and I understand better I take care of both my parents even my dad more because I understood his sacrifices for us.

even when he started living with an hereditary delibitating illness which exhausted him and was later involuntarily retired, was owed his pension and arrears for few years before he was paid and my mum became the sole breadwinner she never made it known that all the tuition fees and materials she bought for us while in the higher institutions didn't come from my dad, even though we knew the reality then never did she rub it on his face or let it potray to her own family.
my mum could never leave her husby and travel for a week even when we had grown up and could cook she could never travel then more than a week probably because they are destined for each other when my brother wanted to name his son in Ibadan and my mum was invited both my parents couldn't go because of dads health and he couldn't drive his car at a long distance again I even thought my mum will stay like 3 weeks to familiarize with the baby mbah o after 6 days she ran back to ekiti though her in-law (my brothers wife mum) was there too despite she knew I and our last born was with my dad then: we were keeping him company and still taking care of him we were even old enough to be married too then oo

my mum will warn us that if any of us is abroad and wants her to come visit or live permanently she isn't going without her husband but many of our nowadays mother's can never do that how can you abandon your man at old age to go live with your kids?if I use the correct word now bot will ban me and it isn't as if it's because she was my dad's only wife even that was how her grandmother whom she took after her character was she was loving, loyal, and devoted till the end and she wasnt her great grandpa's only wife.
society isn't fair on men so I prefer they even marry more than a wife at least all of them won't neglect him for the kids at old age

I pray my son marries someone who will love him unconditionally as my mom loves my dad so also should you nairaland men pray to marry a woman like my mum who is also wise may you not jam a manipulative, unfeeling, self centered woman who will render all your sacrifices on your kids as a waste!!

gerizzim:
it all starts from how well we bond well with our children and loved ones.

Most father's that are hard hit are those that are always too serious and too strict with their kids up even till when they are mature.

Too much of shouting ,insults and derogatory remarks at them creates a cold relationship btw father and child. Even before that child bcoms an adult, he has already left the huz.

When these children leave the house through marriage, they rarely get in touch as they should . To them leaving the house is like a big relief for them.

It is good parents esp father's should relax their grip a bit on their children when they come up of age. Relate with them more like a friend . Be there for them.
How will the father bond well with the kids when he is almost 24 7 outside hustling?and the wife's may be a full time house wife or her work schedule let her close early and be with the kids more?it the man is always at home more and can't really febd for the kids you still blame him and tell him he can't fulfill his fatherly duties it's the wife who should always imbibe and tell the kids the both parents are their providers and both parents love them equally but it's just dad's nature of job that can't make him available to them 24 7 only on weekends

my Dad was a retired he closes at work by 5:30 or 6 at times most times before he even does other outside hustle before getting home he is already exhausted while my mum is a retired principal who will close early to be with the kids?thank God my mum is a good person even when dad was retired involuntary and wasn't paid his gratuity and pension early mum became the sole breadwinner he never rubbed it on his face or made we his kids disrespect him nor did outsiders or her family members

are you a man you better pray your wife is sensible, selfless and empathetic like my mum if not the story will be the same then if my mum buys us clothes or any other thing if we thank her she will still tell us to go thank our dad because he does other things like payment of school fees, rents, buying of foodstuff, medicals which we the kids don't feel directly but it's even more important so they both take care of us that's what a good mother should do.

not supporting Julius malema because their is no better south african xenophobia nigerian political leaders are corrupt, but do you know the us politicians are no better? why hasn't owning of guns been banned and disarmament being implemented? because arms manufacturers bribes the us government officials (law makers and senators)so a bribe is more important than the lives of billions of their citizens?same with their banking and credit system which ensures their citizens are in eternal debt yet their government folds their hands and do nothing because they are in cahoot with them.

If you say the criminal will be caught and be granted swift justice bla blah blah what is the use of justice when you have already being kpaid? which will not even stop another shooter the next day so why not remove the root cause and ensure the crimes aren't being committed in the first place?

Even their condemned prisoners can stay in the prison for close to 40 years before they are executed I read online about prisoners on death row and those that were executed in the state of Florida, south carolina,New Jersey,Georgia,Alabama etc since the beginning of this year all of them have been on death row for close to 38 years what's the justice in that when it is delayed? justice delayed is justice denied!! if not for the useless nigerian governors that won't sign the deaths warrant in nigeria because of their own hidden agenda many condemned prisoners would have been dispatched to the afterlife here after all during the military era their was no stalling of executions!!

Their infastructures are also decayed because they budget on defence (arms productions, formenting wars in other countries especially the arab countries) at the detriment of health care which they could have been made affordable to the poor but because of their quest for materialism and greed they prefer to operate only capitalist system because they don't give a shit about their downtrodded citizens and the real culprit behind the scenes are still the wealthy arms manufacturers influencing the government decisions there,is it their roads, housing, water systems they are outdated infact during the covid 19 epidemic many americans died because of this under funded medical facilities even they lamented about it too and wished they were in china, many asian countries have the best and up to date infrastructures and amenities now.

The Us invest in wars outside their continents which doesn't even concern them to the detriments of her citizens welfare is it because of the censored and doctored scenes you watch in their movies you feel the us is pristine and very clean?many of her states are as dirty as the Indian communities naija no get sense because instead of hiding her own not so clean places which is even 80 percent cleaner than that of the dirty towns in the usa she will project it in her own movies

many european countries are better especially the Scandinavian countries and the Benelux countries they are thousand times better in infrastructures, child and citizen welfare than the USA with her greed and capitalism not saying the us should go full communist but it should be mixed

I think you missed it. Your argument is baseless
He is not saying Nigeria is better than US.
His question is why a well to do, super rich person in Africa would want to kill himself in order to be in US, when he can easily turn elsewhere to enjoy.
You started spewing rubbish. Judging from all the nonsense you're saying here, it is very glaring you're from the those people from certain part of Nigeriaa, whosuffer from inferiority complex.
You dey mind the self hater?in as much nigeria isn't safe though it's limited to a certain part of nigeria I and my family will still feel safer in nigeria or any other foreign country than the usa at least in nigeria I know states, and people to avoid in order to see the next day but the usa that any of her citizen can own guns and almost all have mental illness you can be gunned down any time even for no offense. My wealthy uncle never migrated to the usa all his life even though he has the resources to do so he only goes to canada or the carribean island with his family for vacations

In 2023 a British nigerian lady who was born in the Uk but got admission to a university in Texas was stabbed to death 30 times by her male african american room mate she wasn't even supposed to share a room with in the first place because he isn't a university student she kept complaining to the apartment placement company yet no amendment the ladies parents are from ogun state the guy ?lSquarelled with him because of her cats on the day she was murdered the guy has already broken her phone screen and defecated on her shoes in that morning

Look at that Guatemalan immigrant cleaner woman who was head shot because she stood on the porch of a wrong house last month?that means if I was in the usa I would have been killed too because I know how many times 8 bump into wrong apartment in my university days and I my estate because almost all the frontage design are the same since it was a low built by the government infact being a black person in the usa whether an immigrant or the ones transported there during the slave trade your life expectancy is already low because you could be shot at any time by the white racist police or go to the prison for a lesser offense a white offender would have just be given a slap on the wrist judgement!!

Even the black wealthy aren't exempted they are targeted, makes them fall, crumble and spend half of their lives in prison look at Bill cosby,R kelly,P diddy now who knows who will be the next kanye or Beyonce's husband? ain't saying they are saints but their are worst white offenders who hasn't been in jail even their president havr done worst why isn't he in jail?

The kidnapping he is hammering on many americans especially the blacks are being kidnapped daily even as far back as 1940 and they haven't been found till today how do I know this? i follow an african american page on facebook before it is called vivid faces of the vanished it talks about kidnapping, unsolved crimes perpetrated on the blacks it focuses on the blacks but it doesn't mean many whites aren't being kidnapped also a week ago an Igbo nigerian american consultant doctor disappeared from his house after closing from hospital call he hasn't been found till today.
Even the health care how many of her citizens can acess it? because it's the costliest in the world I read how so many african americans and the poor whites die for little things as diabetic coma, varicose veins etc because their hmo isn't covered or is it their maternal mortality rates the highest in the world and it is constituted by 80 black pregnant women what is the essence of a best health care only just 5 percentage of your citizen can acess?the usa has the worst housing case and child welfare and poverty in the world billions of homeless people over there in nigeria you can finish building your house when you can and will never be pressured to be in debt because of a credit card system you only live by your according to your means in naija!!

whereas in the US of A no matter how you save and work the house you own can still be taken from you as a result of mortgage default system even after your death their is no assurance of your kids inheriting the house because they will ensure you never finish the mortgage until you die.if i wasn't a sociology student's who had foreign sociology textbooks written by white professors in my higher institution and had read the horrors going on there at least the white professors won't lie about usa too I would have thought the USA is an eldorado

Even Nigerian slums are cleaner habitable and appealing than US slums at least you won't see feaces and urine lining the walkways and alleys; in ajegunle, surulere, oshodi, molete beere, and other slums in Ibadan they are very neat go to chicago, new york, maryland and california slums where you will see run down houses, broken and boarded up windows with no toilet and sanitary facilities no pipe borne water system also ain't saying nigerian also but the inhabitants still manage to get by and be clean.

I hate tinubu and all the nigerian corrupt leaders but I will still prefer to live in an european country compared to the usa it is no better so why will I be wealthy and go live in a place where my life will be in the hands of an insane gun totter or a racist cop?

You should also be wary of anyone who hides their WhatsApp online presence or read messages. It literally means that they have something to hide

...and you think the snake wasnt going to work too? How would you like it if as you are on your way to word, all of a sudden, Jack comes down the beanstalk, picks up a piece of wood and hits you over the head several times. Then logs into Giantland and displays you there and asks what type of organism is this?

Stop killing wild life...they balance out the ecosystem
Abi oo it wasn't as if it attacked him and is a midly venomous snake who even if it bites it isn't fatal to human it just causes swelling which will later go down this snake clears all the vermin's(rats, lizards, mouse, wall gecko)(use them as food sources)that spreads epidemic yet the poster just killed it for nothing
