This is to inform all new and returning students of The University of Uyo (UNIUYO) that the management of the school has banned the use of wristwatches by students during exams.

The university disclosed this in a statement released by the school management on 22nd of May 2019 and was signed by the deputy chancellor, Prof. Enoidem Usoro.

The statement reads that students are now prohibited from putting on wristwatches to examinations halls and venues.

The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has commenced electronic (online) auction of contrabands, including exotic cars of different brands seized from smugglers in Imo/Abia and Edo/Delta commands.

Controller of Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Owerri, Comptroller Kayode Olusemire, who made the disclosure while conducting newsmen round the latest seizures made in the zone, l said that the auction, which will be done through the internet will be conducted every Monday and Wednesday for the next one month.

According to him, interested members of the public can log into the internet designated website and select any of the items listed on the purchase list.

The Controller also disclosed that among items to be auctioned electronically were Rolls Royce cars, Mercedes, Toyota and vehicles of different makes and other intercepted contraband.

He stated that the recourse to online sales of seized goods is to make the process as transparent as possible.

Some of the latest seizures, according to Olusemire, were eight exotic cars with duty paid value (DPV) of N161 million, over 1,000,572 bags of rice with DPV of N31 million, fake drugs, including cannabis saliva, tramadol, codeine and spices with foreign names.

More than 25,000 liters of adultrated petroluem products has been captured by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), at a filling station situated in Amawbia, Awka South Council Area of Anambra State Newsvib.com understands.

I lost N6 million in sports betting, robbery gang who specialized in robbing women only confess

Nigeria police have arrested three suspected member of a robbery gang who specialised in robbing women only Newsvib.com understands

The suspects identified as Ego Ike, Obinna Igwe and Adamu Nuhu, were apprehended after they robbed a lady said to be a staff of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS)of her vehicle, while she was returning home from work.

It was reported the suspect said to have taken the vehicle, a 2016 Toyota Corolla, to Katsina State, before it was smuggled into the Niger Republic.

The owner of the car was said to have reported to the police, following which the Inspector General of Police asked the IRT to fish out the bandits for diligent prosecution.

On interrogation, the suspects explained that they targeted women because women can’t put up stiff resistance like men. The suspects also disclosed that most of the vehicles they robbed were mainly Toyota products because of the huge demand for it in the market.

The Nation gathered that Ike, 30, was quoted as saying that he took to crime because he lost all his life savings to gambling. "He said, I am a native of Anambra State and I went into crime because I lost the N6 million I was using to run my clothing business to gambling. I am a primary school dropout. I was formerly a spare parts dealer at the Ladipo market, Lagos, but I moved to Abuja in search of greener pasture and when I couldn’t find my bearing, I pressured my father to sell his only land in the village and he sent me to Istanbul Turkey, with the money. I stayed in Istanbul for three years; I worked and saved close to N6 million. Then I started importing clothes into Nigeria. I was supplying several shops around Abuja and Lagos State, but in 2016, one of my friends introduced me to a sports betting game and I lost all my money.

‘’My resident permits in Istanbul expired and I had no money to renew it. I became frustrated and I met Linus in one of my brother’s houses in Jai area of Abuja and we became friends. He introduced me to an armed robbery gang which had Obinna and Yellow as members and we stole a Toyota RAV4 Sport Utility Vehicle from a woman who was driving into her house in Shafar Road, Abuja, and we took the car to Kaduna.

‘’We gave the car to Nuhu, and he offered to pay N200,000. We also accosted another woman in Buhari area of Abuja. Another woman driving a Toyota Matrix and stopped in front of a shop to buy something; we approached her, snatched the car from her and took it to Kaduna.

‘’We were paid N270,000 for the car. We didn’t know that the woman who owned the Toyota Matrix works with the Federal Road Safety Corps. The third car we stole was also from a woman who was driving a Toyota Corolla car at Kado Estate in Abuja. We used Yellow’s car to collect the woman’s car. We blocked the woman’s car with Yellow’s car and collected it from the woman. We took the car that night to the Niger Republic, but at the Katsina border, Linus and I came down from the car, took a bike and crossed into the country, while Yellow and a man, who I don’t know, took the car into the Niger Republic but the Nigerien police stopped them and arrested them. We targeted women because we don’t use guns and women are an easy catch and most of them are not security conscious. We target Toyota cars because they are easy to sell and the demand for it is on the high side.”

Confessing, Nuhu, 19, a native of Kaduna State, said: “I attended only primary education. I was 17-year-old when I started stealing cars. There is this man known as ‘MD’, who I met when I was selling phones in Kaduna State. ’MD’ is one of my customers who normally buy phones from me and there was this time 2017 when I was attacked by armed robbers and all my phones were stolen and I was stranded.

‘’I approached ‘MD’ to assist me because he was always having money and ‘MD’ told me that since I know how to drive, I will be useful to his company. He did not tell me what his company does, rather, ‘MD’ started giving me cars to deliver for him to several states and he was paying between N30,000 to N40,000.

‘’He (‘MD’) gave me a master key and showed me how to use it. The first car I stole with the master key was a Toyota Carina and I sold the car in a market in Tuniga Maji, along Kaduna Abuja Expressway. I took the car to Kaduna and gave it to one Mohammed Garuba and he bought it from me for N120, 000. Later, ‘MD’ called me and asked me to meet one Yellow and asked me to collect a vehicle from him, but the vehicle had an engine problem then and we contacted Garuba who bought it for N180,000.

He added: ‘’Then I stole three other Toyota Camry cars from the market at Tuniga Maji area along the Kaduna Abuja Expressway and sold the three Toyota Camry cars for N420,000 to one Alhaji in Sokoto State.

‘MD’ also gave me four Toyota Corolla cars to deliver to one Abdul, who is a middle man between car thieves in Nigeria and receivers in Niger Republicepublic. Later in September 2018, Yellow introduced me to his own gang members, who were operating mainly in Abuja with guns, and one of them known as Linus, though he is yet to be arrested, called me and said he was coming with some of his brothers from Benue State who were armed with AK47 rifles and they wanted to carry out a robbery operation in that state but they didn’t know the terrain.

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday arrested 22 suspected internet fraudsters commonly known as Yahoo boys at Sapele, Delta state Newsvib.com understands.

It was reported that the suspects, who are between the age of 18-30 years were captured from their hideout during early morning operations.

According to a statement released by EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade, “A day earlier, the operatives from Abuja had arrested two suspected internet fraudster in Ughelli, Delta State”, it read.

“Items recovered from the suspects include laptop computers, iPhones, phones, ATM cards and three exotic vehicles. The cars are Benz C350, Benz ML 350 and Chrysler 300.

“The raid on the internet fraudsters is one in the series by operatives of the Commission in line with the directive of the acting Executive Chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Magu to rid the entire country of internet fraud and cybercrime.”

Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has charged singer Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, with 11 counts bordering on alleged credit card fraud.

Naira Marley, based on the charges, risks seven years in prison if found guilty.

The charges with suit number FHC/L/178C/19 were filed before a Lagos State High Court on Thursday.

According to the commission, some of the credit cards bore the names – Nicole Louise Malyon, and Timea Fedorne Tatar.

The charges read in part,

“That you, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, aka Naira Marley, and Raze (still at large), on or about the 11th day of December 2018, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, conspired amongst yourselves to use Access card 42658840359191132 issued to persons other than you in a bid to obtain gain and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 27(1)(b) of the Cyber Crimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act 2015 and punishable under Section 33(2) of the Same Act.

“That you, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, aka Naira Marley, and Raze (still at large), on or about the 10th day of May 2019, within the jurisdiction of this honorable court, with intent to defraud possessed, counterfeit card 4921819410257431 issued to Timea Fedorne Tatar and you thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 33(9) of Cyber Crimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act 2015.”

The Senate on Thursday concurred with the Public Holiday Act (Amendment) Bill passed by the House of Representatives, which approved June 12 as the new Democracy Day.

This followed a presentation of conference report by Leader of the Senate, Sen. Ahmad Lawan, at plenary on Thursday.

In his remarks, the President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki put the conference report to a voice vote and it was adopted by the lawmakers.

NAN reports that in the bill, which was passed by the House of Representatives on Nov. 26, 2018, the current democracy date, which is May 29, was deleted and replaced with June 12.

On June 12, 1993, presidential election was held and adjudged to be the freest in the country’s history.

However, the results were annulled by the then Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida.

In the process of reclaiming his mandate, one of the presidential candidate who was reported to have polled most votes, Mr Moshood Abiola lost his life.

A three-year-old girl, Aiman Zehra has been brutally raped by a 23- year old man, Tahir Ahmed Mir in Bandipora, district of north Kashmir.

Some local people are claiming that the age of a rapist is above 23 years old But Islamic Education Trust J& K has issued a fake DOB certificate in an attempt to save the rapist from punishment.

There is a lot of anger among the locals over the incident. Protest in Bandipora has been continuing since Friday.

Meanwhile, people jammed the Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway. The police left the tear gas shells to control the protesters and to remove the crowd after seeing the case coming out of hand.

On Monday, Police also summoned Principal of a private school for allegedly issuing a fake (DOB) certificate in favour of a youth accused in rape of the girl.

“A case was registered, and the accused was produced before the court which sent him on Police remand,” said SSP Bandipora Rahul Malik.

Bandipora Deputy Commissioner Shahbaz Mirza said,

“The heinous crime of rape of a minor in Bandipora is under investigation. We assure that the perpetrator of the crime will be brought to justice. We appeal to the public to stay calm and not heed to any rumours.”

The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir demanded Shariah law in J& K, Mehbooba Mufti, said that such people should be “stoned to death.”

People across the valley of Kashmir took out protest rallies, against the rape and demanded strict punishment for the accused.

In Srinagar, protestors held placards and banners that read “hang the culprit” and “We want Justice”. The protestors demanded that the culprit should be hanged in public so that ‘such an incident is not repeated in the future’.

“A three-year-old girl has been ravaged by a beast. We want the government to hang the culprit so that such things don’t happen again,” a protester at Alamgari Bazar said.

“We want the government to frame strict laws to punish such culprits,” she added.

Terming the crime as a ‘black stain on society’ a protester said, “as a parent, I am more worried now after this horrific incident. Kashmir was the safest place for women, but now it’s not even safe for kids.”

In Srinagar’s Press Enclave, numerous religious, student and activist groups staged protests against the incident throughout the day. The protestors carried banners and placards reading “End rape culture” and “girls are not toys”.

“We are demanding justice against this barbaric act. With every passing day, our society is degrading. We demand that politicians and state leaders should come forward to act very harshly against this culprit so that such incidents are not repeated in the future,” a protestor said.

Also, clashes between armed forces and protestors erupted across the valley.

As the protests intensified, police used tear smoke shells and pellets to disperse the protestors, leaving several injured.

The clashes continued for several hours and many areas were wrapped under a dense blanket of smoke, caused due to indiscriminate use of tear smoke shells.

A bill seeking to prevent public officials from seeking medical treatment abroad has been thrown out by the house of representatives

The bill seeks to regulate international trips for medical treatment by public officers, but the lawmakers argued that it violates the right of the public officials.

While speaking against it, Mohammed Wase from Plateau state, said: “I was in hospital in Nigeria for a check-up, and they said I was fine, friends encouraged me to travel for a checkup, I did only to discover that I was not okay.

I spent three months there, now you are telling me to get approval… please, this bill should be thrown out. Instead of banning people from travelling, we should create an enabling an environment for people to invest in the healthcare sector.”

On Tuesday evening, EFCC released fast rising Nigerian rapper, Zlatan Ibile following his arrest alongside fellow rapper Naira Marley and three others over their alleged involvement with cybercrime on Friday 10th March.

Now EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade in a new statement confirmed that the suspects were released on administrative bail and also revealed why Naira Marley is still in detention.

He said:

“There is overwhelming evidence against Naira Marley; so we can’t afford to release him on administrative bail like Zlatan and the three others.

“That Zlatan has been released does not mean they have been discharged and acquitted. Naira Marley is still in our custody and will be charged to court soon and we will make the charges known in an official statement soon.”

A Lagos state resident, Ugo Friday, has dragged a 41-year-old tailor, Monday Udor, before an Ajegunle Magistrates’ Court for allegedly damaging his clothes worth N10,000.

At the hearing of the case yesterday Tuesday, May 14th, the prosecutor, Inspector Olugbenga Salami, told the court that the plaintiff had taken his clothes to Udor's shop at No 2 Kudaisi street Olodi Apapa on April 4th for them to be made. Udor, however, failed to deliver his clothes as at when due and that the clothes were partly burnt when he was ironing them.


A Lagos The prosecutor told the court that Friday asked for a refund of the cost of the clothes, but the defendant refused to pay. He informed the court that the offence contravenes the provision of Section 339 of the Lagos State Criminal Code Laws, 2015.

The magistrate, Mrs. Oluwakemi Williams-Isichie, granted Udor bail in the sum of N20,000 with two responsible sureties, who must show evidence of tax payment. The case was then adjourned until June 3rd for mention.

The Senate has threatened to shut down sports betting company, Bet9ja offices if it failed to honour its invitation for a second time.

The lawmakers issued the threat on Tuesday in Abuja during the verification of Loto companies with a license to operate in Nigeria.

Chairman, Senate Committee on Youth and Sport, Senator Obinna Ogba, PDP, Ebonyi, noted that it was unfortunate that Bet9a refused to honour their invitation.

He said, “Clerk, write to Bet9ja again. If they did not honour your our invitation again, we will ask the National Lottery Commission to seal their offices.”


Senator Ogba further stated that the Senate was making efforts to assist the lottery commission to generate money for the federal government, saying, “We wanted to see bet9ja. They can’t runaway.”

Senator Ogba said that their verification followed a series of complaints against the betting companies.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detailed out reasons why it arrested Naira Marley, real name Afeez Fashola.

It was also confirmed that Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael aka Zlatan and Rahman Jago were also arrested.

Tony Orilade, EFCC spokesman, in a statement on Friday, said they were picked up in “connection with an alleged case of internet fraud and money laundering.

“Intelligence report had also linked them to cybercrime offences.

“They were arrested along with: Tiamiu Abdulrahman Kayode, Adewunmi Adeyanju Moses and Abubakar Musa.

“Their arrest followed an early morning raid on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 9, Gbangbola Street, Ikate, Lekki, Lagos.

“They have so far volunteered useful information about their involvement in the alleged criminal activities, even as investigations continue.”

Marley, some days ago, called on Nigerians to pray for Yahoo boys rather than condemn them.

Facebook user, Mystic Biu, has shared the shocking story of how three University of Abuja freshmen watched their friend, 17-year-old Emmanuel Aigbokhalode Balogun drown at the Dome Hotel pool because he was always doing ''shakara'' and all the girls in their school were flocking around him alone.

"We live in a very trying and perilous times. A very dear friends undergraduate's 17yr old son got drowned at the Dome hotel pool in abuja last weekend. He was in the company of his friends. The friends didn't report to the hotel mgt what happened nor to the deceased's (Emmanuel Balogun) parents. They went back to the school (Uni Abuja) hostel immediately after the incident.

On Monday a young girl from uni abuja called the mother of the deceased that they did not see Emmanuel her son in class. She went further to tell the parents it's like something has happened to Emma and ended the call. The mother called back the line but it was switched off. She notified her husband & they immediately placed a call to their sons number and it was off. They drove that Monday night to their sons hostel but met his absence. They now got information that a party was thrown for fresh year students over the weekend at the Dome hotel in town. They set forth for the hotel. The hotel mgt told them there was a case of drowning in their hotel over the when'd & directed them to the police.

The police now led them to the mortuary, lo & behold it was their son. Yesterday morning, myself & the deceased uncle went to the police to see the CCTV footage of what transpired @ the hotel. What I saw and later heard yesterday was unbelievable. From the CCTV, we noticed the deceased entered the pool with 3 of his friends and around 3.33am he started struggling in the pool.

His friends where all watching him until he stopped struggling and drowned. They all left the pool immediately and one took his handset the other took his trouser and brought out the money inside the pocket and wore his shoes. They left the hotel around 4.18am according to the footage we saw. The police went to the school & effected the arrest of the trio and mgt of the hotel.

At the DIG's office yesterday afternoon, I heard something that has being giving me cold shivers all through yesterday and right now. One of the boys said that he wanted to raise an alarm to save the boy but the other two boys asked him not to. Cardi B tried to pull a Rihanna this year by arriving at the Met Gala in an unforgettable dress.

The 26-year-old rapper walked the Met Gala red carpet in a heavy red gown with a large train that required several men to carry around.

The oxblood gown was made by Thom Browne. It was made from tulle and silk organza and filled with down. The hand-embroidered dress was also decorated with 30,000 feathers. It took 35 people more than 2,000 hours to create.

Speaking about his creation, Thom Browne told Vogue: "'I designed this dress for Cardi specifically because she has the ultimate beauty in a woman’s body, and that is what the dress is about for me: taking advantage of that beauty."

A letter entitled: “Notice of dismissal from ministry”, dated April 29, 2019, and signed by Bishop of the Diocese, The Rt. Rev. James Oluwaseun, Abdulah Olamide, Samuel Okoya and Isreal Babatunde, all students of a tertiary institution in Ede, Osun State, have been remanded at the Ilesa Prison for allegedly beating a hooker for refusing to have sex without condom.

.According to a report by DailyTrust, one of the accused had reportedly picked up the 30-year-old mother-of-two at Pavilion lounge in Osogbo, with the agreement to pay her N5,000.

However, when they got home, he was said to have insisted that he would have sex with her without condom, but she reportedly declined. .

This led to an heated argument and when the lady was leaving the following day, the accused refused to pay her, claiming that they did not have sex. .

Meanwhile, the hooker insisted on collecting her money, since she spent the night and that not having sex was not her fault. This led to another argument, with three friends of the primary suspect joining in. .

In the process, the four men accused the lady of stealing some documents in the house and they went ahead to assault her. The matter was later reported at the Ede ‘B’ Divisional Police Station where the four accused persons were detained.

The suspects were later arraigned before a magistrates’ court in the state. The Magistrate, A.A Olowolagba, was said to have granted them bail, but they were taken to prison when they could not meet the conditions.

Two kidnappers have been nabbed while trying to carry out an attack on a pastor during church service and they confessed to being sent by another pastor to kidnap his rival in the ministry.

Members of the church were at the Wednesday counselling and deliverance service when the kidnappers drove into the church and requested to see the general overseer, Prophet Isaac Abraham

Church members suspected something was amiss so they apprehended two of the suspects. Two others, who were allegedly armed, escaped.

Both suspects were questioned and they confessed to the crime in a now-viral video.

Gideon Daniel, a soldier, and Oseni Igbiti,a security guard, both confessed after they were nabbed by church members in the process of carrying out the attack. They shared message conversations between them and their sponsor and revealed they were each paid ?200,000 to carry out the attack.

Prophet Isaac Abraham, whose church was attacked, claimed that when he confronted the men who escaped, they confessed that they were sent by Pastor Emeka Onu of Land of Solution prophetic mission int.
