The name Edo came to light during the reign of Oba Ewuare 1 who was trying to repay a head servant of chief Ogieva Nomuekpo name Edo
who save his life while he was still a prince because his junior brother oba Uwaifiokun was chasing him to kill hence the act Edo shown to the prince was that of love ( so that makes the word " Edo" to mean love ) just like in the meaning of a name is done through the action that brought the subject to historical light.
