Blacknight28: With reference to your 3rd paragraph, no one is forced into priesthood, it's a divine vocation one goes into knowing fully well what it is all about and the sacrifices one must make. A priest who feels He can not continue with his work as a priest because of his sexual desire have every right to resign, and for those Reverend Fathers accused of sexual immoralities it is not you that called them to the vineyard of God, let Him that called them judge them.
Absurdity.
If its not us that called them into priesthood and cannot judge them, how come the worldly government can judge and punisb them.
I havent condemned Christianity but i have every right to denounce and condemn immorality found with the priests.
Jesus himself commandrd that such priests should be expelled from yhe congregation.
spine: so how do you explain Jesus rebuttal on Marriage in matt 19-12......? my point is we humans need to quit acting like we have the absolute interpretation to everything in the bible. there are lot of verses that are not easily explained. Christ himself alluded to it being controversial and did not speak of it scornfully. No one should be compelled to becoming a priest.if the catholic church decides to permit marriage....then its fine. in every circle there are bad eggs. In the pentecostal church was it an injunction in the bible that Pastor or G.O most also have his wife as Pastor mrs or Mummy G.O as is commonly practiced in many churches today? Yet it happens and people embrace and adore the couple like God called them both. I am sure they can find a place in scripture no matter how obscure to defend their practice. Some preacher girl suggested to me that Jesus christs Donkey is like the equivalent of a Bentley today, all in a bid to justify her Pastors lifestyle choices. I get energy to argue? Bottom line, lets quit the Pontificating and judging. No one Knows the whole truth.
Princewell2012: Yes. But that was before he met Jesus. Now after that he abandoned his family. Read your bible again
Abandon kwa?
You must be joking. So, you are expecting to read from the Bible everything that Jesus and his apostles did? Or that the Bible should tell you every time that Peter went home to his family.
Kahujadekadura: . All I can say on this is, inasmuch as priesthood is not impose on anyone, it is left for the person to have it mind that going against the vows stipulated for priestly life is a grievous offense before God and man. It is Catholic tradition, so if one can't keep it, why going for it whereas you can be married and still preach the word of God. So the blame should be laid upon those bad priest not on Church tradition.
Absolutely. It is better not to vow than vow and not keep it.
Kahujadekadura: . Is it because they are single that made them to go after little children. Please even some married men do fall victim of that. Try to say kudos to priests for it is not easy to study for 18yrs and yet can have a successor and a person that will mange ur film, for those that went against their vow. Catholic church is wise and one and no religion can beat that fact.
Yes, i agree with you. But it is obvious that many of those celibate ones really want to enjoy sexual intercourse but they couldnt come out to do so and as such they go for cheap preys and from then on become sexual predators.
Why institute a doctrine or arrangement that will end up causing the brethren to fall?
Shortyy: It was before he became an apostle right?. Those people that met Jesus and became his apostle did any of them marry?
Did Jesus directly forbids any of his apostles from getting married?
We know for certain that Peter was married because he had a mother-in-law (Matthew 8:14). The apostle Paul, who was not married, asked the Corinthians whether he also did not have the right to take a believing wife (1 Corinthians 9:5), as did “the other apostles and the Lord's brothers and Cephas [Peter].” From this, we can assume that Peter was not the only one to have a wife.
musicwriter: Homosexuality was tolerated in ancient Rome. So, when Rome hijacked Christianity and were creating the rules, they included so many pagan beliefs practiced by Rome. This was to unite the empire to make sure that every pagan practice was accommodated.
The same Roman Catholic church killed many who wanted us to have free access to bible.
Please read about William Tyndale. He translated bible to English and was first to use the name Jehovah for God in his bible translation. He stood against the church and british rulers.
Nwaikuku2: That's give u concrete reason to believe that Catholic was truely instituted by Jesus Christ while other church was founded in other to run away from celibacy
Keep deceiving yourselves. There were apostles that were married in the first century CE.
I can even categorically say that the Catholic church brought in so many traditions that were alien to the original Christianity or even Judaism, where Christianity emanated from.
At the end of the day, after claiming they are celibate, they go on defiling innocent young children, both male and female, whereas, God and Jesus did not forbid them from getting married. After all, Apostle Paul said it may be better generally y to remain a virgin or single so that one can propagate the truth. He however added thay if you cannot hold body please get married.
It ia even understandable why some didnt get married in the times of the apostles. The gospel had not gone viral back then and those taking the lead may need to travel far and thus leaving their families behind. But is that the same situation today? Far from it.
Meanwhile, We know for certain that Peter was married because he had a mother-in-law (Matthew 8:14).
Lastly, the qualifications for elders and deacons include references to their marriages and families (1 Timothy 3:1–13; Titus 1:5–9). These qualifications do not require that church leaders be married, but they do certainly demonstrate that many were.
GoTV: No matter how you people paint it, this child is a product of fornication and it's a sin against the Lord Jesus we serve. Jesus never forgives and forget
thesicilian: I feel for the guy, he's a good man and probably doesn't deserve this. But if the demolition of his multi-million naira investment is politically motivated as he claims, then he must have involved himself in unnecessary politics instead of strictly sticking to gospel music. Second, if his building has met all the necessary approvals for construction and renovations, then he should go to court for compensation.
