Wife of President Buhari, Aisha Buhari on Thursday raised an alarm over the silent sexual exploitation of females in various universities in Nigeria.
Aisha was speaking at the 2018 International Women’s day celebration in Abuja.
She queried why nobody is talking about increasing sexual exploitation of ladies in various universities in the country
”Some of our daughters are being used as sex slaves in the universities and nobody is talking about it and it is a major problem in the society.
“They use them as sex slaves from primary school, secondary up till the university and also they have started to traffic them through the mediterranian where a lot of lives are lost.
“We hope the government will do something about this”, she said
Recall that Aisha Buhari earlier initiated a movement ‘Leave Our Daughters Alone’ against abduction of School girls, especially the recent Dapchi attack in Nort-East.

Charles Okah has been sentenced to life imprisonment for his role in the 2010 Independence Day bombing in Abuja.
He was sentenced by the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, alongside Obi Nwabueze, his co-accused.
His elder brother Henry Okah had been sentenced for a similar crime in South Africa, where he was based.
Recall that a dozen people were killed in the bombing at the Eagle Square, Abuja during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
The presiding judge, Justice Gabriel Kolawole, in a 4 hour, 30 minutes judgement found the defendants guilty as charged for being responsible for March 15, 2010, bomb blast which claimed one life in Warri, Delta State and the October 1st, 2010 bomb blast near Eagle Square in Abuja which claimed several lives.
The ruling was in accordance with section 15 sub sections 1 and 2 of the EFCC act.
The judge noted that the second defendant, Obi Nwabueze, particularly made himself available to run illegal errands for Henry Okah by providing N1.2m used to purchase five fairly used cars deployed for the Warri blast, while Charles Okah, provided the sum of N2m used for the purchase of the four cars deployed for the Independence Day blast in Abuja.

Lagos governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday ordered public and private school principals in the state that students should sing the National Anthem in Yoruba Language daily.
Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule, relayed the directive at a meeting with Principals and Head Teachers of public schools in Lagos.
She said that Yoruba Language would also be made a compulsory subject for students.
Adebule said that Wednesdays had been declared ‘Yoruba Speaking Day’ in schools, with all teaching and learning activities from assembly period to closing being done in Yoruba.
”Governor Ambode wants me to pass this message to you, that henceforth, Yoruba language be made compulsory in both private and public schools.
”The National Anthem must be sung in Yoruba on a daily basis too.
“The Egbe Akomolede has done the translation and we will send the copies of the Yoruba version to your schools by Monday so you can begin to teach the students.
”I have also met with the owners of private schools and we have relayed this directive to them.
”We are also considering translating the textbooks of other subjects into Yoruba Language because I believe that when students are taught in their mother language, learning will be easy and their level of performance will improve.
”The state government is passionate about this Law, so we do not lose our language, culture and heritage,” she said.
Adebule said the Ministry of Education was doing an assessment to ascertain the number of Yoruba teachers that would be required to effectively teach the language in public schools.
She appealed to the school managers to cooperate with the government to drive and ensure the effective implementation of the Yoruba Language Preservation and Promotion Law.
Lanre Ogunyemi, Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Education, said the development would be beneficial to the younger generation and generations unborn.
”In Finland, you must pass the Finnish Language before you are offered admission into high institutions. Same is done in Germany, China and other developed countries.
”We need to adopt such to drive development and foster national unity. I beg you all to key into this law and make it work, ” Ogunyemi said.

As the spate of killings across Nigeria continues unabated, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa has blasted the federal government led by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its apparent inability to stem the tide of bloodletting, saying the ruling party now values animal lives more than human lives.
Ohuabunwa, who represents Abia North at the National Assembly, made the observation while speaking at the inauguration of a motorised water bore hole he attracted for Nneato community in Umunneochi Local Government Area through the Anambra-Imo River Basin Development Authority.
“Nigeria is so insecure today that we no longer talk of killings but the number of those killed. We have lost value for human lives. In Nigeria, under APC leadership, cows and dogs have more values than human beings,” he said.
The federal lawmaker lamented that Nigeria has been turned into a huge slaughter house by those who take delight in shedding human blood while the ruling party and the presidency watch the orgy of killings helplessly.
According to him, never in the history of Nigeria has “insecurity gone as bad as it is today,” noting that the situation had gone so bad that cows that got slaughtered at abattoirs get dignified death than Nigerians who get slaughtered in their homes and farms.
The Senator therefore challenged the APC-led federal government to rise above defeatist attitude of buck passing and take responsibility for its failure to protect lives and property of Nigerians.
He pointed out that the seeming inability of the federal government to rein in the marauding herdsmen and secure lives and property of Nigerians was already creating internal problems for ruling party as many APC senators just like other concerned Nigerians have lost confidence in the APC-led federal government.
He said: “I can tell you that APC senators are now playing more opposition than their PDP counterparts because they have lost faith in their party. Very soon, they will defect en masse to PDP. They are only waiting for the right time to strike.
“They (concerned APC senators) are ashamed of what to tell their constituents during campaign. Is it to tell them that their party brought hunger and allowed killings of innocent Nigerians? No, they are tired of the lies.”
Ohuabunwa disclosed that aside from water projects, he had also attracted N50 million worth of hospital equipment to health centres in his constituency and distributed 10 electricity transformers as well.
The former Speaker of ECOWAS Parliament also flagged off the construction of a cottage hospital at Umunneukwu Agbo in Isuikwuato which he said would be ready before the end of the year, assuring his people that every community in Abia North zone would have a functional health centre before the end of his tenure.
Speakers at the event, including the Town Union President of Eziama Nneato Community, Dr. Emma Onyearo, and a community leader, Sir Ifeanyi Okechukwu, lauded Ohuabunwa for solving the water problem in the area.
Chairman of Umunneochi Local Government Area, Chief Okey Igwe, who described Ohuabunwa as “a performing and accessible senator,” said the people are very happy and proud of his quality representation in the Senate.

Following the expiration of the two week ultimatum given to operators of illegal homes and orphanages in Lagos State, the enforcement team of the State Ministry of Youth and Social Development yesterday arrested a woman allegedly harbouring pregnant women illegally under the guise of operating a traditional birth maternity.
Officials of the ministry, escorted by 20 policemen from the Ajah Police Station and Area ‘J’ police Command, stormed the area at Baboon Village, Ajele.
Youth and Social Development, Commissioner Agboola Dabiri said the suspect was arrested alongside a pregnant woman, three babies and six other women.
She denied operating a home where children are sold. Dabiri said the ministry was tipped off that the suspect “keeps young girls and ladies for the purpose of producing babies who would be sold out.”
He added:”With the help of the police, we were able to apprehend the owner of the place identified as Bankole Regina, six other middle-aged women and three babies who were also rescued.
“Two of the babies rescued were discovered to be critically ill.In fact one of the babies is at the point of death.
“As we speak, we have taken over the babies in one of our homes.The sick ones are being attended to in the hospital while the adults have been handed over to the police for further interrogation and likely prosecution.
“Illegal homes pose a great risk to our state.They breed prostitution and transmission of different diseases among others.”
The suspect said she had been operating the traditional birth maternity for over 30 years. She claimed that the babies rescued from her were abandoned by their mothers after delivery under the pretence of going home to take their delivery kits.
Bankole also said she registered with the Eti-Osa Local Government as a traditional birth attendant and that she was about preparing to take a course in traditional birth attendance .
She said one of the three babies recovered from her place was her child and that the other two belonged to someone else kept in her custody.

The corpse of the military officer, Francis Atisu Vondee, who died in a car crash with Ghanaian dancehall artiste Ebony, will face court-martial.
It was gathered from Burma camp that the Lance corporal asked for a sick leave but ended up in Mankranso, where he met his untimely death.
According to the sources at the military high command, Vondee who was in a military uniform at the time of the accident, was not officially deployed for the bodyguard duties.
At the end of investigations, his body will be court-martialed and possibly sentenced to 40 days in the military guardroom, in line with the laws and statutes governing the Ghana Army.
Being dead, his uniform will be hanged in the guardroom for 40 days after which his body be released to the family for burial. His family “could also be denied his benefits” due him, including insurance packages.

South African self-styled prophet who sprayed his followers with insecticide has been found guilty of assault.
According to local media report, Pastor Lethebo Rabalago who is widely known as the Doom Pastor was also found guilty of contravening the Agricultural Stock Remedies Act, a court ruling said.
Rabalago claims the insect repellent he used in 2016 could heal cancer and HIV. A sentence is yet to be handed down after the verdict by Mookgopong Magistrates Court in Limpopo province.
On Friday, magistrate Frans Mahodi told the court the state had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt that the five people who laid assault charges were violated, South Africa's national broadcaster SABC reports.
The magistrate said the fact that the complainants "were sprayed on their faces with Doom makes this offence [the] worst of its kind". He also revealed some of them had suffered "detrimental side effects... like coughing for more than seven months" after the incident. Rabalago - who run the Mount Zion General Assembly was arrested after it emerged he had used the product to "cure" his followers of various ailments in 2016.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, PhD, says he has no candidate for any political office in 2019.
He said this on Wednesday at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential library, Abeokuta, during a courtesy visit by a youth group from Delta State led by a governorship aspirant, Frank Esanubi.
Obasanjo, who said he had taken a decision in 2015 not to participate any longer in partisan politics, added that he would rather remain an elder statesman having a passion for a greater Nigeria.
He further explained that his recent open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari was not in any way to disrespect him or his office.
Obasanjo said in the letter he was only articulating his views about the situation in the country and offering his candid advice.
He explained that his statement was thoroughly thought out, adding that as a former President, he could not hold the office of the President in contempt.
Obasanjo, however, reiterated that the Coalition for Nigeria Movement would remain a socio-political movement, insisting that he would cease to be a member of the coalition the moment it transformed into a political party or became partisan.
He said, “In the year 2015, I said I would no longer participate in partisan politics. And I still stand by my decision.
“Everybody, irrespective of his or her political affiliation is free to come here for advice, I will gladly do that. I have no candidate, whatsoever, for any political office. I just believe that things must be done differently in Nigeria to get different result.
“If you study our transitions since the colonial era, they have all taken place without taking the people at the grassroots into consideration.
“So, the CNM is about the people at the grassroots. It is a socio-economic movement where youth and women, especially, will be given an opportunity to appreciate their interests and power. Unlike before, I believe we must put the Ox before the cart.
“If the system and the platform sync, I believe Nigeria will get there. And like I said, the moment the coalition gets involved in candidate sponsoring or participates in partisan politics, I will opt out of it.”

There is an ongoing pandemonium at the Federal University of Technology, Yola, FUTY over claim by Muslims students that, a fellow student made a blasphemous remark against Prophet Muhammed.
According to the students who are currently on the run following the unrest at the campus, few weeks to the Student Union Government, SUG election, there was a threat by a student on a Facebook page warning the school authority should take action against the alleged claim of blasphemy or the Muslim students would take all necessary action to stop academic activities in the institution.
However, other students who spoke to DAILY POST at the time of the incident said, the riot was not as a result of the alleged claim of blasphemy, but as a result of the election of the Student’s Union Government, where one Haliru Amos emerged the Union President, as against the expectation of the seeming majority Muslims students.
” The Fellowship of the Muslim Students, wanted one Hamza to be the SUG president, and they promised to give him all the backing. The Fellowship of Christian Students also brought in Haliru Amos, and gave him all the backing. Along the line ,the Muslims students could not reach an agreement, which made Haliru to have a smooth run to emerge the SUG President.
“This is what annoyed them and informed the unrest this evening. I believe some of the lecturers are backing them. The student who issued out a threat earlier was not called to order or arrested by the school authority. So, they always feel they can do anything and get away with,” a student told DAILY POST.
Our Correspondent also reportsthat, the students who are trooping out of the school said, they were asked to leave the school premises as at the time of this report.
