33 Lagos residents have been jailed by the Samuel Ilorin Magistrate’s Court, Ogba, to different terms of imprisonment and community service for violating the state Environmental Sanitation Laws 2017. According to reports, the offenders were apprehended by operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, for illegal street trading, indiscriminate dumping of refuse and illegal crossing of the highways. The Magistrate, Ogundare Olayiwola, was said to have sentenced each of the accused on one count of indiscriminate dumping of refuse to five months’ imprisonment, with an option of N20,000 fine. Those arraigned on one count of illegal street trading were sentenced to five months’ imprisonment, with an option of N20,000 fine. Those on one count of illegal crossing of highways were sentenced to five hours’ community service, with an option of N10,000 fine.
A couple has been arrested by the police and are currently undergoing interrogation after allegedly beaten up their sister-in-law for infidelity.
According to Vanguardngr, Bela (the victim) who is married to Amsterdam-based Felix Omeneka, brother to Kelly, was beaten to a pop by Kelly and his wife Mercy in their family home in Ajao Estate over the weekend. The bad blood allegedly began after Felix instructed Bela to go live in his family house, shortly after their wedding in 2016, even though it did not sit well with her. No sooner than she moved into the family house than the battles started between herself and her brother and sister in law-Kelly and Mercy. All hell was let loose over the weekend when Bela discovered that some of her belongings were missing, Approaching Mercy to enquire about them, degenerated into a physical combat between the sisters-in-law. Bela says: “Kelly did not separate us. Rather, he went for a horse whip and started flogging me all over my body and at the same time, hitting me in the ribs. He accused me of bewitching his brother to the extent that he does not look at the face of another back in Europe. A member of the family called and instructed them to seize my marriage certificate so that I won’t have any vital document to prove that the union is legal. Kelly also seized my phone and dragged me out of the building. All I could remember at that point was seeing an oncoming car approaching the direction he dumped me as I passed out.” According to the victim, she says the brother-in-law later unlock the gate around 4am Only to order her to move out of the family house on the grounds of marital infidelity. Says: “He told me that they had a directive from their mother not to allow me in until I went to the village to swear an oath of fidelity. It was a concerned neighbour that later put me in a cab that took me to my sister’s place, from where I was rushed to the hospital.”

The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land and National Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress, Otunba Gani Adams, is a prayer warrior and can pray for two hours, his Chief of Staff, Segun Akanni, has disclosed. Akanni made the disclosure in an interview with The PUNCH in a reaction to the controversies raised by the congratulatory letter written to Adams by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
Adeboye had congratulated Adams on his installation by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, in Oyo town on January 13, 2018. Some critics had faulted Adeboye’s action, arguing that he should not have had any dealing with the traditionalist. But Akanni said such critics did not know that Adams had a Christian background.
He said, “If you see where Gani Adams prays to God with his Holy Bible, you will fear and ask, ‘Is this Gani Adams?’ He has his Christian temple in his room. If you’re in doubt, I will take the photograph and send it to you.
“People doubt if Baba Adeboye can write such congratulatory letter to Aare Adams because of his background. The congratulatory letter came from the RCCG Headquarters. Can we forge such a letter? No, we can’t.
“The letter is from Baba Adeboye. I swear in the name of the Almighty God. Pastor Sam Adeyemi (of Daystar Christian Centre) and many other pastors also sent letters to congratulate Adams.
He added, “You see, majority of our critics cannot serve God the way Gani Adams serves God. Otunba Gani Adams! He is a prayer warrior; the man prays a lot. He can pray for two hours non-stop. Gani Adams will lock himself inside his room and start praying. “What some people don’t know is that he has a Christian background. People see him based on his past but it was due to the circumstances then when the OPC was under serious attacks by the police, armed robbers and other criminal elements when we started the struggle.”
He said Gani Adams had sponsored over 50 pilgrims to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, adding that after his pilgrimage to Mecca in 2017, Adams would travel to Jerusalem, Israel this year.

Last week, LG exclusively reported the news of Mavin act Reekado Banks who was invited to the Ogba Area G police station, regarding a case of obtaining the sum of N2m as the fee for a performance at a wedding in Benin City on the 23rd of December, 2017 but failed to show up.
The latest update on the case now according to the camp of Uwa Igbinedion who took the matter to the police is that Reekado Banks and his team refused to refund the money, saying he incurred “logistical costs” - despite not honoring the deal.
Following repeated invitations by the police which Reekado Banks reportedly refused to honour, his brother/Manager, Temi, was today arraigned before a court in Ikeja after which he was remanded to the Kirirkiri Maximum Prison, even as the singer is still at large. The case has been adjourned until the 19th of February 2018.
