I followed the advice of golden Dr,upload and other honourable members and submitted my CV to schools within my vicinity. Luckily for me, one of the schools I went to actually needed teachers and the director there even asked me how I knew that they needed teachers and asked if I knew any teacher in the school.I was invited for interview the following week.During the interview, was asked to prepare a lesson note after which the salary negotiation began.The principal and the director told me that they could only afford to pay me 23k.I accepted the offer because of the following reasons:
(1)The school is not far from my house.......so I won't spend a kobo on transport
(2)I don't having any job currently...in fact,I needed a job badly as sitting @ home alone can drive someone crazy
(3)I need more experience to add to my CV...I discovered that most schools consider experience even before looking @ your qualification
(4)Teaching job to me is just a means to an end...I desire to pursue a career in lecturing...so teaching job is a stepping stone to my dream job.
I was given an offer to teach civic education... My area of specialization
Would start work when schools resume next month.
I thank everyone who has contributed greatly to this thread.God bless you all.

Congrats! 23k is not a bad start for a teaching job ..infact a lot of peeps started with far lower(me inclusive), but today the story has changed for the better.

Yours will change for the better should you put your mind to it and place prayer somewhere in d mix.

biko do not make the mistake of applying to a school n say u can teach everything. Choose your best two subjects n apply focusing on those subjects alone.

Now to other things..i have a question for you..why teaching??
Dont get me wrong i am not saying teaching is not okay..but u have a b.sc in microbiology n u r running Msc in med bio n parasitology..i remember i took parasitology as a course while in sch .its very close to medcine.
u can walk up to a lab n tender ur cv .i am sure they will immediately sweep u up n gv u a job or better still approach hospitals that have labs....

with ur degree u will also find a post with manufacturing companies.

but then wetin a lil chap like me know??..

depends on d school...

but basically u should read up ur area of specialty(subject u teach), also in some cases u may hv to brace urself for current affairs ,english, n maths(not indepth.)

u should also prepare lesson plan or learn how to prepare lesson note incase u dont already know how.

that should cover the written.
For the micro teaching....pick a topic u know like d back of ur hand..n revise it again..
on d d-day remember to write topic n date on d board..introduce urself to d students n be very audible...do not be quick to ask em questions...let them feel u n gv them a chance to ask u questions.

for oral....
that one is not difficult, just prepare for d basic interview questions..and place value on urself

most boarding schools do but my advice is you apply to the school of your chioce first n when u r called for interview, u can ask them. if u daze 'em during interview ,they most likely would find a way for u around d accomodation ish.
