Should we go for Kimmich this Summer if he will come in cheap (say around €40-50m)? I think Kimmich will do a good job in our midfield should Modric/Kroos leave and we bin Ceballos (He's too mid IMO).

In nine out of ten scenarios, Mbappe will take penalties in Madrid. He is a bigger player and better than Vini, Bellingham, and Rodrygo. All three of them will even acknowledge Mbappe leading the team just like CR7 arrival in 2009. Even his wages will put him as the top earner of the club (over 3-5X of our other youngsters wages). Forget all the hate Mbappe received from we, Madridstas, after the 2022 incident; almost every single football fan knows there is no better player than Mbappe at the moment.

Edited (For your Don Carlo reference): While Don Carlo is a GOAT coach, even GOAT coaches recognize GOAT players and accord respect to them. Mbappe is at the level of Ronaldo and Messi (of 2008-2010ish) and even Mourinho/Pep acknowledged their superior talents around then. I see no difference with Mbappe and Ancelloti. The Don will be licking his lips at the prospect of adding another massive attacking weapon to his team (imagine Vini x Mbappe in the same attack with Bellingham behind ). Lol. If Mbappe comes, the team automatically becomes his for the taking. He is the current best player in the World (kinda hard fact IMO) so he should be on Penalty duties at Madrid (or any other club in the world). But we don't need to be bothered by the rumors because of how his 2022 fiasco turned out. After Euro24, everything should be clear, but don't be surprised if he makes another U-turn and signs a contract extension with PSG.

This one that Toni Kroos still doesn't want to renew for an extra season. He is playing so well so why retire now? That German man is just too weird for my liking, that was how he retired from International Football quite early. This may be unethical or immoral but you can create random gmail accounts. Then get official letterhead from your school, make colored copies and use them for your LORs. You can upload the letters yourself via the gmail. Universities will accept it especially if it’s on Uni letter headed paper.

Unethical hacks like this might be handful in the future especially when dealing with uncooperative recommenders with the deadline running close (I missed WashU in St Louis application deadline because of a similar scenario). Thanks for this advice .

If there's ever a next time, have your professors give you LoRs that you can use multiple times. All you need do is change school addresses.

Most U.S schools accept only direct LoRs from the Profs. They will only ask for your 2/3 recommenders official email address in the application portal, and contact the Profs directly via email. All four schools I applied to used the same format for accepting LoRs so I don't know if it's a new normal.

Again, I would like to ask about the possibility of getting a PhD Economics through B.Sc degree in Economics from Nigeria. People often say that Economics in Nigerian Universities ain't quantitative and mathematical enough compared to Ghana and South Africa.

So I would like to know if you've seen any Nigerian who obtained PhD admission in Economics in the USA through his/her B.Sc degree in Economics


Note: I'm not disputing my chances though, I have a first class degree in Economics, a very good recommendation letter, 333 in GRE (170 in Quantitative, 163 in Verbal) and also have three years research experience with a top consulting firm in Nigeria.

Your profile is very impressive. I think your chance of getting at least one offer from the 3 schools is very high, especially if you submitted your application early enough. Impressive GRE! Strong LoRs! I really don't know much about Nigeria Economics degree reputation so maybe someone can talk about that to alleviate your fears. Anyway, I see you coming back here to celebrate when you finally get your fully-funded offer and pass the Visa Interview .

Thanks for this but I don't want to reach out to my Profs again for LoRs. I will sit put and wait for the decision of the 3 other schools in the coming weeks. If nothing works, I will refire for Fall, 2025. This is my first trial and have learnt some lessons with the process even though I did everything in a haste (being a fresh graduate who just had her convocation December Last year).

Got my first decision mail from University of Notre Dame. I was rejected for PhD Chemical Engineering. I've 3 more pending decisions to go for Fall 2024 (all PhDs). Finger Crossed, I still believe my moniker will come to pass inshallah .

For me, I have joined PA Emma school so I am more concerned with how much cash flow my portfolio generates via dividends. If Zenith pays total dividend of #3.50-4.00 this year and UBA about #1.50-2.00, I will be fine .

Jumping from one place to another is just another way of dashing brokers/NGX free money. Person go do Kalo-Kalo after much thinking to round-trip a stock for 10-20% gain but your broker will chop almost half of that gain (via brokerage/NGX fees) ontop your wahala

So don't evaluate your saving culture at the moment with the money value but rather see it as a means to improve your financial knowledge. Your most pressing need should be improving your earning potential. You can earn X10 of your current wages within 1-2 years if you develop yourself bro. This should be your major headache: How to Earn More. I would advice you to use whatever is left of your salary (after expenses) to invest in yourself by acquiring skills, furthering your education, save up to buy a laptop, etc. that will develop you to earn more. Saving 10K per month in this economy without a target business or expenses in mind is a No No for me. Back to your main question, yes saving in dollars have proven to be a better alternative to saving in Naira (using performance index of the past 1-20 years).

I know Ellah is better as a long term play. My unit cost for Ellah was 3.03 but it kept struggling to pass the 3.60-3.70 range so I sold most of my holding around 3.64 on Monday and Tuesday. I would love to accumulate more of Ellah but only around 3.00 or lesser since the last right issues was for 2.90. The firm can come good in 5 years time but I believe there will be better opportunities (cheaper entry price) especially if the much talk about "Market Correction/Pullback" happens. But I might be wrong too since I only just got into NGX last year July/August. My opinion though.

Swapped WAPCO for Flour Mills at #33 on the 4th of January for portfolio diversification/rebalancing. I did my DD and always knew it was for the best but watching WAPCO lead Flour Mill after the swap with #3 (at some point even #6) was quite painful sha. But seeing today's price list, I think I finally have some closure. I shouldn't even be bothered with WAPCO price movements since DangCement is also doing wonders for Industrial Goods Sector of my Portfolio. Anyway I still believe both stocks are great picks for longterm but Flour Mill greater % dividend yields and better future prospects (as its Sector Leader) made the decision easier.

I also made about 20-30% profit from my Caverton and Ellah Lakes plays this month but swapped them all for Zenith Bank yesterday. Thanks Oga Loco, Mega, and everyone here for dropping your stock recommendations (it really helps to ease our search for potential new buys). Amid this uncertainty of a continued bull run, make I just pitch my tent for Fundemantally Strong Firms as we await 2023 FY results.
