COVID-19: Benue index case cries to Buhari, British govt to rescue her from Ortom

A 54-year old Susan Okpe, who was said to be the Benue index case of Corona Virus, has cried on President Muhammad Buhari of Nigeria and the British Government, to evacuate her from Benue state.

Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom had on Saturday, 28th March, announced that Mrs. Okpe was the Benue's first recorded case of Corona Virus, also known as COVID-19.

Mrs. Okpe, a British Nigerian, arrived the country on Saturday, 21st March via Kenya Airway, for the burial of her mother slated to hold early next month.

According to a family source, Mrs. Okpe ran series of tests before leaving the United Kingdom with all results showing negative to COVID-19.

"When she arrived Benue State on the 23rd of March, she was running temperature, perhaps, due to the fatigue of traveling, an experienced Doctor was contacted and tests were conducted and she was being treated for malaria and typhoid.

"When the NCDC contacted me, on the invitation of the Benue State government, I gave my consent that she should be tested. But as I speak with you, none of us has seen the test result, not even the Medical Director of the Cottage Hospital who assisted the NCDC to get samples, has seen the result. We only got to see through the television where the Governor announced her name", the source hinted our reporter.

Meanwhile, in a message sent via WhatsApp to our reporter, Mrs. Okpe appealed to the Federal Government and the UK Government to move her out of Benue State.

"I have kept my cool, but am now sick with swollen gums, being stooling throughout the night, no nurses or medical attention. My crime is that am a British who came into Nigeria, particularly Benue State; felt feverish, took myself for check up because I have travelled longer than usual.

"After examinations, I was told by the doctor my temperature was high and I said keep me for observations as I did not experience any before I left London, passed from Lagos to Abuja my temperature was like any other passenger was being monitored by the authorities.

"Back to my self presentation and request for isolation which was done, I was told by the doctors that the standard procedure was to call for a test from the state ministry of health of which two gentle men came to do a throat and nose swoop.

"After two days, by now my temperature has normalised from 38:2 to 36:4 the record are there to be verified. Only to be told by the Doctor after asking why am I still kept in the hospital, a friend now came in to tell me that a press conference is being done with my name that I have Covid-19, on air, on social media, without my knowledge.

"I went mad as a human being and demanded to see the Medical Director who told me he was fighting for me; how, why and for what and with who I don’t understand, still fuming the next thing was armed men, ambulance and a siege round the hospital for me to be removed for what I don’t know.

"As someone who knows the principles of the law (weather it works in Nigeria or not I can’t tell), I said I was not moving without a reason, I was surrounded and to stop the embarrassment to my family and poor junior sister who I think is not fair on, I went down to speak with the Deputy Governor for thirty minutes and he assured me I was safe, will be cared for, though not sick with any symptoms, also that the following day the health commissioner and medical doctors from the state will come and see me.

"I told him that if the state is insisting that am ill I should be taken to Abuja to be tested, I have never in my life seen a staged played drama with human life and politics like this before, I want the world, Nigerians, Benue state to hear my side and verify am not a Covid-19 positive, left my children behind in London they are healthy till this moment", Mrs. Okpe cried out.

She pleaded with the authorities concerned to take her to any standard center and verify her claims, as there was no single facility in Benue to even handle or manage any case, should it be true that Benue had a case.

Already, our reporter gathered that, the Consulate General of the UK in Nigeria had been contacted by Mrs. Okpe, whose fundamental rights have been grossly breached and arrangements were underway to get the Presidency to help the British Embassy evacuate her citizen from Benue State, before it results to death.

Next month would make it about a year I started out at Brainly. It has been a highly rewarding experience. One which I don't want to ditch for now. I used to think before now that there are only 4 Nigerians on Brainly. Lol. How mistaken I must have been. Don't blame me bikonu.

My own section of brainly is quite different. I was not hired through Latinhire. I got this job via Upwork. We have an exclusive slack team of about 108 freelancers providing answers on a special tool. They cut across different nationalities. The team keeps growing by the day.

Initially, the rate was $0.7 if you answer some certain number of questions per day and if less, its $0.6. But things got stepped up around September last year. The rate increased massively. Answering more than 26 questions per day gives a rate of $0.9 per question, more than 13 questions is $0.8 and lesser than that is for $0.7. Just of recent, things changed, college level questions are now rated $1, high school $0.9 and middle school $0.8.

It has been a rewarding experience for me. I have had some mad runs in some months doing up about 1000 questions. Yes, 1000 questions. I am not here to brag just hoping my experience will inspire someone to double up and give this platform the time.

When I started out, my ratings weren't consistent and I nearly lost the gig. But when I shot up to a 100%, I have never looked back. Not me but God. Now, nobody checks my answers again. I keep my quality and I know my answers are top. Sometimes I contest some of their decisions. These moderators are humans too.

I have achieved something substantial with Brainly. I like the freedom of the work and its flexibility. But nowadays, the questions gets pumped 1am which is gmt time. You just must be awake.

My strategy is to filter out high school and college questions out. I blaze through middle school questions like a tsunami. I have clocked up to 11 questions within an hour. But on an average, I do 7 questions. That's just me nowadays. I love brainly. It has awakened hope in me and the little financial freedom I have is courtesy of this million dollar company.

I answer questions related to bio, geo, chem and phy. I didn't even know latinhire was the hiring gateway for brainly. I get paid weekly through Upwork.

I am happy to stumble on this thread.
My advice to you folks starting out is to give it the time. Build your quality base and be known for it. Then scale up and take that risk. Don't answer questions you are not sure of. Be very explicit when explaining. Give original and unplagiarized answers. Please, let's keep our rep and maintain our decency.
Let's avoid those chicanerous behaviors that might put us as Nigerians in a bad light.

Oh just to chip in something more, the question pools are seasonal. When students are on holidays, expect a dry spell. The first week of this year wasn't funny at all. May/June and July are always peak seasons but save for covid, nobody knows what's up again. Also,September to December have crazy runs. February, March and April might be a bit slow.

Also, did you guys sign a non-disclosure agreement? That thing dey fear me o!!!!

I have had the privilege of working on some special teams using the tool. There was a project last year and every week I get tipped some extra dollars. That's how rewarding brainly can be.


Special commendation to the bosses that opened this thread. You did well. Infact, you are selfless. I have been looking for ways through which more Nigerians would get in but Upwork thwarted my efforts. Another story for another day if I happen to tell it.

It rang and rang and rang severally ,I wanted to go to LUTH and Yaba but the Experiences of others discouraged me ,I started crying like a baby .I put a call through to one Dr.Friend who advised me to report myself for Covid test as soon as Possible and iahould self isolate myself .God.I could not sleep ..one the 22 ,I went to buy Menthodex a COUGH medicine and took Lemon with hot water .On 23 It persisted ,little issues while.sleeping .On the 25th I Started having serious Issues with my Lungs ,I could not breathe well anymore ,It's like a heavy load was placed on.my Chest .I.was dying .I.managed put a call to another friend that I was dying who told me if I could find any Pharmacy Around I said Yes ,He text me these : Friend ,I beg go to Pharmacy ,Buy Chloroquine phosphate three packs , Azithromycin 500 mg capsules and Zinc sulphate .I had already bought a face mask and an hand Glove ,I managed to get to the Pharmacy bought all ,the kind way I held cough at the pharmacy almost tore my throats .It was 10 am ,I took 250 mg of the Chloroquine ,1 piritin to avoid itching ,1 tablet of Azithromycin and one Zinc sulphate ,at night I repeated the Chloroquine only . 1 million % honestly speaking ,It was strange ,The cough disappeared 80% on the 26th .I am a diabetes patient ,A natural therapist had told me of a very very bitter Plants not bitter leaf which I also take as well .Today is been 29th .I Tell you I am not coughing anymore ,Breathing is normal,No.more weakness ,Infact I am full of strength and vitality .I take lots of Fruits like cucumber and oranges .I also eats lots Of Vegetables as well and drink warm water with fresh lemon .The treatments takes 5 days completely ,I am still isolating myself which will go for 3 weeks ,Already food at home .By God's grace of there attitude changes at NCDC I can go for test .If the WHO ,FDA,NAFDAC refused to take actions about Chloroquine , Azithromycin and Zinc .It's quite Unfortunate many would still die.If I have waited for Approval I would have died by now .Wake up People .That combination works.Please I implore anyone not to take the combination for Preventions it's not for Preventions please .Unless you have those Covid 19 Symptoms .Dry Cough ,Fever , Uneasiness in Breathing .
