Popular Nigerian singer, Chibuzor Oji fondly referred to as Faze, has taken to his verified Instagram account to reveal that he is “thanking God for life.”

Igbere TV reports that Faze, 2Face and Blackface were a member of the now defunct Plantashun Boiz. The group was formed during their college years in Enugu, at the Institute Of Management And Technology (I.M.T Enugu), Eastern Nigeria.

The group however split up after the exit of 2Face who wanted a solo career on the platform of Kennis Music at the time, this didn't go down well with the other members of the group but they moved on and each released their individual single albums first with 2Face and then Blackface followed by Faze. These albums were successful and Nigerians kept anticipating more from them even as many hoped for their reunion.

In July 2021, the group quashed their differences and reunite in honor of their late friend, Sound Sultan.

UFC champion Kamaru Usman has arrived in Nigeria to initiate a community activation plan for the people of Edo State, Igbere TV reports.

Usman paid a courtesy visit to Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello on his arrival on Thursday.

The Nigeria-born fighter is expected to visit Lagos where he would be the guest of the media on Sunday.

Usman is on a 19-fight winning streak, the longest ever in the welterweight division. He had not been to Nigeria since he migrated to the United States with his family as an eight-year-old.

From Lagos, the martial artist will head to Edo, his home state, for his project.

Usman announced on Instagram on Wednesday that he was “coming home”.

“I looked at my passport and realised I hadn’t been home since I was a kid, that’s when I knew it was time,” he added.

Usman recently defended his title against Jorge Masvidal, knocking the American out in the second round of their meeting to retain his title.

A 40-year-old Nigerian has been arrested by immigration officers in Thailand for allegedly overstaying his visa by 2,683 days.

It was discovered that Onyebuchi Ezedinugwu had entered Thailand in April 2014 on a 60-day tourist visa with permission to stay until June 25 of same year.

He was, however, arrested on Tuesday by immigration officers led by region one commander Pol Maj-Gen Piti Nitinonthaset at Soi Phetchaburi 35 in the Makkasan area of Bangkok.

Reports gathered by Igbere TV say illegal immigration is considered as a major factor of the second wave of COVID-19 after an outbreak at Samut Sakhon seafood market, affecting a large migrant population.

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command (FCT) have arrested a notorious fraudster, Mohammed Abdulrahman, who has been defrauding unsuspecting members of the public by impersonating as a Superintendent of Police and operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Igbere TV reports.

Spokesperson of the Command, AP Mariam Yusuf, who confirmed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, said the suspect was arrested by operatives attached to the Mabushi Police Division on January 17, following a tip-off.

"Preliminary investigation reveals that, the suspect habitually harasses residents along Mabushi Express axis under the façade of being a Police Officer thereby smearing the dignified image of the Nigeria Police Force." the PPRO said.

Exhibits recovered from the suspect include two warrant cards, one handcuff, one tear spray, one black belt, one red fez cap, one black belt, one cutlass and one Toyota Camry black colour with registration number: AGL 541 ET.

The PPRO stated that the Commissioner of Police of the Command, CP Bala Ciroma, has urged the members of the public to report suspicious happenings and criminals in their environments to the nearest police formation for prompt action.

About 29 million telecom users are yet to link their National Identity Numbers to their SIM cards even as the first deadline given to subscribers expires Tuesday.

A top federal government official told Daily Trust on Monday that about 176m SIM cards had been linked to their owners’ NINs.

The government had given January 19 and February 9 deadlines for subscribers already with NINs and those without NINs respectively to link their SIMs with their unique identity numbers.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ibrahim Pantami’s spokesperson, Uwa Suleiman, did not respond to Daily Trust’s enquiry seeking to know what would be the fate of those who failed to do the linkage before the deadline.

The Nigerian Communications Commission had said there would not be mass disconnection of telecom subscribers as a result of the ongoing linkage of NIN records to SIM Registration, Igbere TV reports.

“A recent survey conducted in Nigeria has shown that on average, there are now approximately 4 to 5 SIMs to every human subscriber.

“This explains the basis of allowing the linkage of up to 7 SIMs to 1 unique NIN in the recently launched Federal Government Portal”, NCC had said in a recent statement.

Veteran Actor, comedian, singer and broadcaster, Chief Mazi Anyogu Elekwachi Ukonu, has died at 90, Igbere TV can confirm.

Born on March 5, 1930, Ukonu was from Igbere Bende Local Government Area.

Though the family is yet to issue a statement, Mazi Ukonu died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, a sourced told our correspondent.

The Doyen of broadcasting and entertainment, Mazi Ukonu is one of the first Nigerian actors to star in Hollywood productions including William Witney's 'Panama Say' (1957) and Walter Grauman's 'The Disembodied' (1957).

Mazi Anyaogu Elekwachi Ukonu was the pioneer General Manager of the Nigerian Television Authority, Ogbor Hill, Aba.

He conceptualised, organised, produced, directed as well as participated in the popular Showbiz programme titled, Ukonu’s Club.

Mazi Ukonu is known as an irresistible inspirer of men and women and a masterpiece of God’s own creation. He attended Hopewardel College, Calabar.

The deceased is an alumnus of the University of California, a veteran theatre arts legend and Hollywood star that carved a niche for himself.
