Politics / Re: Ogun State Workers Lament Non-payment Of November Salary With Days To Christmas by uvie66: 11:15am On Dec 21, 2022
Nnannapat:
This is what many people failed to understand, most South Western States have over bloated workforce, simply because the Yorubas likes civil service job (no pun intended) while on the other the Igbos prefers entrepreneurship.

So situations like this will always be the case because wage bills of most States in the region is far higher than whatever they earn leaving little or nothing for capital projects, that is why some states in the South West have debt burden that will take over 50 years to clear.
During Peter Obi's regime in Anambra, he pruned down the state civil service workforce by over 40%, so many people were abusing him then but he stood his ground, today Anambra has one of the leanest workforce in Nigeria, that is responsible governance.
I concur.....I wonder why someone will be comfortable in a job of 50 a month and stay there for a lifetime

How can someone be cycling in a country where nearly nobody goes to a driving school?

The same fate nearly befell a one-time minister of information, Ojo Maduekwe, in Abuja when he was trying to encourage Nigerians to start riding bicycles like foreigners.

Dude was knocked and hospitalised for weeks. When he was discharged, it didn't need anyone to tell him to stop encouraging Nigerians to do what cannot work.

May the deceased rest in peace, amen.
the thing weak me....I have been cycling over ten years in UK road and have never been knocked down once. It just shows the importance of actually doing a test to obtain a drivers license.

There are NO bike lanes in ANY Nigerian town or city.

Lagos is NOT Amsterdam where bike lanes make it easy to cover the entire city on a bicycle.

Lagos is a place where motorists run over pedestrians and bicycle riders purely for sport.

If you ride a bicycle in Lagos, you WILL see someone get run over, or get run over yourself. It is only a matter of time.
you put it well, these guys watch too much TV or rather they travel abroad and think they can replicate the same activity in Nigeria

It baffles me why people will cycle in any road in Nigeria, especially with so many untrained drivers on the road. I am a keen cyclist, however this is in the UK, where road drivers are trained to respect cyclists who have their own dedicated lane.

I see a man who exudes so much confidence, intellectual sagacity, oratory, panache, charisma.
His choice of shutting down naysayers with facts and leaving them in tears in their propaganda and foolery. I liked the way he shut down the interviewer when he tried hyping Peter Obi, Tinubu brought him way down to his level.....

God bless the incoming President of the federal republic of Nigeria.

Reuben Abati and Rufai Oseni aren't being professional even in the way they put words in the mouth of their guests especially those against APC. I've watched these happened several times even Rufai Oseni would take the word from the guest and finish it himself. Rufai Oseni was insisting one day that Tinubu must make himself available here to speak to Nigerians. It's unprofessional. But if I were Tinubu I would attend one and face them with heavy criticism in a live program. Is Reuben Abati not a PDP person? Was Abati not the PDP deputy governorship candidate for Ogun State in 2019? Did Abati not work for PDP as SA to Jonathan for 5 yrs? What was his contributions to the betterment of Nigeria?
.....at least we can all say that 2019 is better than now, no wholesale Banditry in the northwest, and naira was 250 : 1 pounds

It seems to me that the management of AriseTV has tasked its staff to ensure Tinubu c appears on its show in order to increase their media ratings, with a reward of mega incentives and promotion to any staff that would make their dream happen. It has become too obvious that the so called town hall meeting has become a butt of jokes going by the shambolic showings of the previous editions and most likely, only Asiwaju Jagaban can give it credibility. Unfortunately, AriseTv has lost its compass as a result of unprofessionalism and seemingly unethical handling by its presenters.
Tinubu has a well planned foreign trips that align with a purposeful and efficient strategy, detailing his vision before the world powers. Unlike an Atiku taking pictures with some clowns on the streets of Washington after being denied entry into the White House or an Obi who has been to the US at least three times this year begging for donations.
... Detailing his vision with world powers...so whose votes is jagaban seeing ? is it the Nigerian voters or world powers ? Just be honest and admit that Ogas policies do not stand up to scrutiny.

I agree with you but I want you to know that these higher denomination were partly responsible for inflation we have today. Higher denomination killed #5, #10, #20, and coins. Some keep #1000 and #500 to satisfy their ego.
At parties, people used to spray #20 , but today it either #500 or #1000. Let #200 be the highest currency denomination and I bet you Naira will regain its value and respect.
I don't understand, how can the currency gain value if the economy is solely based on oil exportation, and most other items are imported, let me lecture you, I am in my late 40s and can still remember when naira was on the same parity with the pounds. Back then there were no tokunbo cars, TVs, or footwear.

All these items were manufactured/assembled in Nigeria by Peugeot/VW, Leanerds/Bata, and Philips/National, we also had Nigeria Airways. But now all these products and services are being provided by foreign countries. So it is natural that our naira will depreciate
I don't want to even delve into the education or health system which is provided by foreign countries.

The sole reason people carry naira notes in thousands is solely because of inflation. One can hardly see anything priced at 20 or 50 naira notes. a loaf of bread in the UK can still be bought for 50p while in Nigeria it is usually #500 and above.

I've always visited this my uncle at least four times a week. That is where I pass away time. His children all like me and any day I fail to come they must ask me why didn't come. I use the time i spend in his house to teach his children Mathematics and do their home work for them.

Today I was in his house, he stormed out from his room and ask if i don't help my mother at home. He yelled at me and what pain me most is that he said food is costly and they are only managing. He made me feel like i was the one finishing the food in his house. He said I should not be too frequent in his house if at all I must come.

I'm considering severing all ties to this my uncle, will that be right?
you self your own too much, how you go person house four times a week... the Man is right to yell at you. He is not your Father, so what are you doing in his house?
