Seun: Apologies sir. What's your name? Thanks for replying back. My Name is Emmanuel U. |
Hello Seun, I just wanted to make this public and maybe this could allow/permit you to reply my emails. I have written to you thrice and i keep wondering why you don't reply back, even to say hello. Employers do reply back to job seekers even when they're not willing to offer the job to the applicants and let them know their mind. I wanted to share my feelings and ask if this is the way you run your business? Thank you while i wait for your reply. |

Hello folks, I have been watching what is going on at the home page of NAIRALAND where people go and post topics/news head lines they found from other websites. For example, you see people go to websites like Guardian and after reading a topic there, they would love Nairalander to share opinions about it. Think of how website like Yahoo started and where the website is now spreading news and this keep changing everyday Just wanted to ask if you think it will benefit this great website (Nairaland) if SEUN should start having news headlines himself? To myself, I think this would be necessary and will bring more traffic to the site. What do you think and your opinion will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your input |
Uwadiegwu1: Hello folks,Seun what do you have to say? You people bringing news to your site plus link to websites like Guardian and Punch. You can see what Naij.com does. |
okpara ugo: I agreed with all your assertion but the bolded. Most stocks which were on N5 in 2008 are sill below N1 as we speak...He only has to live once - Once he dies he will never be buried with Money. He is one those that Nigeria is not good today. Animal |
I am presently working on Number 1 on the lists. Anyone interested should contact me. I have other unstated ideas/features that will be included on the coding etc. Let me know and we can partner together. Thanks |
APP IDEAS COMPETITION – CHOOSE ONE/SUGGEST ONE 1. PHONE-A-TAXI APP PHONE-A-TAXI is an exclusive app that may be used in the event of being stranded. With GPS technology, it would detect the nearest taxi rank for whoever has subscribed to the service. To operate this app, one must telephone the taxi company in order to charter a taxi from the person’s exact location, and send it straight to the passenger. How you would make money? The app would be free for consumers but, in order to absorb the marketing costs, the developer could charge taxi firms a monthly subscription fee. They could also utilize the existence of social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc. to promote the app to potential consumers. The bigger the client base, the more you can charge the taxi firm annually, which would also be beneficial to the taxi company. 2. FANTASY FOOTBALL APP This football app would be a craze for all football lovers. It works by persons choosing their own fantasy football team from the English Premier League or any other league in the world. Customers will be able to select their teams from a database of players, and points would be awarded to them after each round of games. The league would then be accumulated; total of points. How you would make money? You would make money with this app by charging each person to download the app or a small fee to enter your team. You would then be able to award the winner 25 – 50% of the profit as the main prize, and you would then have the other 50 – 75%. 3. FAKE PHONE NUMBER APP This app could be used to prevent you from giving out your real telephone number. With this app, a number would be generated and assigned to you, so that you eliminate having undesired persons calling your real number. So, if you received a phone call from an undesired person, the Fake Phone Number app would indicate that they were calling or that you had received a text message from the person, thus saving the identity of your real number. How you would make money? You could make money from this by charging a fee to download the app. 4. PARENT APP This app would allow you to know the whereabouts of your child at all times using GPS tracking on this app. This app would be installed on the child’s Smartphone and linked to the app on the parent’s phone. How you would make money? This would generate money offering the app to child support agencies and schools to purchase it, and then given to parents free of charge. 5. DELIVERY APP This app would be used to find the cheapest and quickest courier service to send your parcel to. You would fill in the size, weight, delivery location and postal code and then order the cheapest courier service directly through the app. How you would make money? You would charge a commission for each order that would come through the app to the courier service. The app itself would be free to download. 6. FIND MY DOG APP This app would use to track your dog in the event it went missing. You would get a GPS tracking device to attach to the dog’s collar and then you would be able to see the location of your dog and easily locate it if it’s lost. How you would make money? You would make money with this by advertising the app through places such as vets and animal stores. You would then charge a download fee. |
Uwadiegwu1: Hello, SOLD -12/24/12 - 1.2M |
9jadelta: nairaland is a forum. that will not make much senseThank you, 9jadelta for sharing your opinion. True, nairaland is a forum and what is a forum compared to what i was talking about? A forum is a place where people have the ability to start communication (in the form of threads) and reply to other people's threads. A member of the community in the forum posts a message, which is visible to everyone in that community. Once read, there is the option to post a reply, which can also be visible to the community. Thus, a discussion can build up without all users having to be online at the same time. Mind you a forum can have news head lines, this is exactly what users are doing on Nairaland and if you go through the headlines you'll find pages of comments and replies. This will keep the site flowing and fun. Without those topics this place will be a place for "questions and answers" such as how much is a dollar in Nigeria today, how many bags of cements can build a 5 bedroom duplex etc. For instance, i mentioned Yahoo, yes yahoo does have a forum and news sections. Nairaland can modify the site to become huge/big with facebook link so that when you make comments/post it will appear on facebook and other social network websites etc - This is a matter of API and the site will continue to grow I have websites i have created and wish i have traffic like nairaland. There are so many ways to take your business to next level. This website is 8yrs and it is going to be like the old Craigslist (never change). This is just a suggestion. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Seun: Dear Web Banner Advert Designers,Hello Seun, Just curious and wanted to know what happened to Nairalist? Can you give me that link/open the window to integrate a site similar to that while you maintain a percentage from it. Please advise for more details Thank you. |
SEUN - YOU REALLY NEED TO RE-DESIGN YOUR SITE FOR GROWTH. CHECK OUT http://www.classifieds-buy.com(Africa Craigslist). Mashable.com, crunchbase.com, etc. All these people re-designed for fresher look and traffic.Think about it because for 8yrs you have been like this? How would you grow and grow more Since you got the traffic you needed, you can make this site Facebook of Nigeria with more crowd/traffic. I am not saying you should create facebook type, but make this forum more attractive and professional. This looks like it was the Phbb installed forum and no change.Just a suggestion. |
R.I.P nairalist. gbam. Hasta la vista o adios para siempre!
I see no rational in suspending nairalist. Just like a lot others, I prefer the simplicity of http://www.craigslist.com.ng to nairalist and other classifieds |
hoodboi: There is something called franchising. When the foundation is bad, the building itself cannot stand. What the guy has done is build a weak foundation. When the word gets out that this is not a real craiglist franchise, it would kill whatever trust people are meant to have for the site. Nobody would want to patronize a site that lied right from the onset. That is why it is a wayo site.Hoodboi - To my understanding, i don't think Craigslist.com.ng is saying that the website is owned or operated by Craigslist.org. I believe the owner is trying to create something like it for Africans. Looking at the video posted here, it indicates Craigslist Type" finally in Africa. This is what I believe and i have contacted the owner to advise on name change before the main Craigslist come after them. Mind you anyone can answer Craig and call his business any name especially if it is a foreign country. Though, it is a trademark infringement especially if the websites are in the same country. Think of Groupon that was cloned in India and China with the same name, design etc. You have Jumia.com and now and much more. Coming to your idea, it is nice and be careful of people stealing your idea before yours come out. I know and understand that it is common in our country Nigeria. To me, whatever idea you have, just bring it out to reality. Do you know that i had the idea of a website called Fiverr.com and before i could make that move it was already out. Now the website has raised over 20 million dollars(Techcrunch). Smart niche and idea now with extras that enables them make extra money too and the users as well. You have millions of sites like that now. Think of Pinterest too, you have so many of them cloned with even the same name around the globe. All i am saying is that the owner of Craigslist.com.ng is not wayo, he is out for business just like Nairaland and others. Maybe he is trying to drive cloud/traffic to the site by using Craigslist.com.ng? Thanks |
Chief06 - why are you guys saying that Craigslist.com.ng is a wayo site. Well, i know the dude that owns the website and looking at what he has there he has done a great job. Hopefully, it will be best for him to change the name to avoid lawsuit or dismissal. This is the problem Nigerians have on each other, never to cherish what others have or done , but you want someone to thank you for your effort and ideas. I wish the owner can see what you said about his site and decide what to tell you. I like the site and there is nothing wrong with it. I am just saying my mind. Thanks |
I know most of you have been arguing why Nigeria is not listed on Craigslist.org, the most popular website in USA like the one found on this link https://www.nairaland.com/462523/ghana-listed-craigslist-no-nigeria. Like i reported on that link, i have been following the discussion and promised to provide an update for a new site similar to Craigslist USA called http://www.Craigslist.com.ng. The newly created website has all the features Craigslist.org USA has including Romance which used to be HOT in the news all over USA. Craigslist.com.ng is meant for all Africans where you can sell/trade things locally, you don't need to wait for shipment and you can post and sell locally. Some of the cool features found on Craigslist.com.ng is that the site allows you to post unlimited listing 24/7/365 and only charges for job posting in some cities. This is the exactly the same business pattern that Craigslist.org USA is using to minimize the cost of job listing in whole USA that almost everyone in US can find a reasonable job on the well-known website. 2. I see that on Craigslist.com.ng, you can post banners as well on different locations of the website and give the users the privilege to do this on their own. You don't have to call the customer service to place your ad/banner on the site. Just make your choice and pay as you go. 3. The website has a lot of features that most Nigerian websites like Dealfish lacked (gone), even forums like Nairaland where you can discuss any matter/issues. 4. Craigslist Africa has a section for Romance which i have a feeling that this will surely pick up fast especially for the university ladies trying to make extra money staying outside. Posting of picture on this section will enable men to just dial the number and before you know it she will be at your house for a nite massage. 5. You can also list your events, cars, property for sale, even with pictures, land for sale etc To me, I believe this is a complete platform the whole Africans can make use of and cherish it. I will be posting more details and info if i find more. Good luck Craigslist Africa |
howardriddle: you said a firm tried it last and it has died in a hurry? wat is the firm's name exactlyWell, I know Fatguy do mention something like Dealfish who tried something like http://www.craigslist.com.ng and failed. I was telling/saying that the reasons they failed was because they did not have all features Craigslist US has and just like the clone called Craigslist Africa found in http://www.craigslist.com.ng. I have been following site since it was founded last month January 2013. Below is a nice video i found online in case you need to know about it. |
howardriddle: what's the name exactly(of this firm)Howardriddle, Which firm do you have questions about? http://www.craigslist.com.ng? Please advise |
fallguy: man, the days of local niche locale based website is over.Fallguy, you never know how things will change or play around for Craigslist.com.ng. Craigslist Africa might pick up like Craigslist in US and before you know it people will deal locally. I believe that people need to list/sell stuffs locally. I came to think of when i needed to buy a car listed on nairaland, it happens that the car was in Abuja ( Abuja is huge and i don't know much places) and i was not there and even a phone they have to ship to me and got lost. I will not judge fast on how long they'll stay around until we give them 2yrs to see. Jobberman is the king of job seekers now simply because of the economy that people are desperate to have a job in order to sustain living. I believe that if Craigslist Africa should kick out to be like craigslist in US, employers will not post jobs anymore on jobberman. Just like Craigslist in US took all over the job posting for employers, simply because other websites like Monster are charging like $450+ just to post one job category while Craigslist charges $25.00. We'll see how they play around for Craigslist.com.ng I just checked it out and saw that they have areas for job posting, even romance/personals. I bet this might become area for the ladies to make money? Good site for Craigslist Africa and almost like Craigslist US |
mamigocentral: @Uwadiegwu, u are right but as I said they are building that online culture and their buisness model is still one of the best for translating profit for a web based startup in Nigeria.Well, we're yet to see Jobberman to stay long. Charging people to apply for jobs is very fishy and i can't do it no matter what. But charging emploters to post jobs on the site is a fair play and most websites do it here in the western World. Fallguy - you might want to check Craigslist Africa @ http://www.Craigslist.com.ng Like i told you that businesses like craigslist in Africa countries would be a good business. I guess nairalist will be crying now? As you know people have different things they need to sell like cars and they need a one community they can do all in one place. This is why i see a potential in businesses like online services. Lets watch http://www.Craigslist.com.ng and see what they are capable of in Africa business market. I wish them best of luck |
@ Mamigocentral Well, talking about Jumia the company might not be making enough profit as a result of trust. Instead Nigerians will prefer going to the store to make the purchase. Also the trust in the shipment unless they'll go to the place and directly deliver to the buyer. All these are the problems in Nigeria. Come to think of Pagatech, most people still don't use instead they'll prefer to wire the money to the person and much more. I believe anything online service business will pay off like Wakanow, Jobberman and even Craigslist advancing to Africa countries. Thank you. |
2buff: "funding" isn't always a good wordI definitely agree that using the word "funding" throws people out like it is a free money. That is a pay back money with profit. Sometimes, you will loose all and that will be it. That is why JOBBERMAN is charging people to apply for jobs. In US for an example, that feature is free for everyone and instead get the little money from employers. Has anyone thought about Staffing/consulting company in Nigeria? Google MYBIZOFFICE, OFFICEMAX, KELLY SERVICES AND ROBERT HALF....Just to mention a few and see how they're doing in USA and around other countries except Nigeria. There is a lot of ways to make money in Niaja if you're wise and smart. This is why Craigslist is advancing to Africa countries and cities. Stay tuned for more info Thanks |
@ Dansmog, I believe you have an idea, you need to put it into reality like facebook and others you mentioned below. Telling people what your idea might get stolen and you'll have yourself to blame. For example, when Seun started Nairaland, you have other fourms existing in Naija. It depends on how you run your business. On the side of Jobberman, i don't know where you have the source that Facebook invested on the website. Do you know that Jobberman is a website employers can post their jobs, not a recruiter for employers that might be doing background check, screening etc. I think jobberman has the ground now simply because of the way the business is run and remember what happened to Myspace before facebook came out. Anyone can beat jobberman with other features missing out on the site and even advance further to target employers more and others. I have alot of ideas that will sell in Niaja but we have a lot of problems facing that country. What about having something like viper, PayPal, etc I will stop here for now |
@ Sarutobi, If though Jobberman received a million Dollar and don't know how to manage it, it does not necessarily mean they're progressing. Nairaland could be more profitable than Jobberman simply because of the traffic here. Seun makes decent money from Nairaland and Jobberman is only for jobs and people barely go there to apply for jobs. The charge to apply for jobs are even driving applicants away and not many are not ready to pay for that. But if you have a website that can allow people do all in one place like craigslist does for free, that will be better. People can do the same thing they do in Nairaland, Search for chics, items for sale, Events etc and apply to jobs. Craigslist type of website will be a good business in Africa as a whole |
@ kambo Yes, dealfish was once in Nigeria but not in whole Africa. Even though they do not have all the features craigslist has where you can do everything at one place like community, romance, items for sale, etc and i believe this is why they failed. |
@Kanor - you might be right about Aviation being the best online business in Nigeria now, but don't forget that you don't have other well-known websites like Craigslist in Nigeria. Although, you might say that you have Nairalist, but it is not complete. Anyone that will embark on this will likely make more profit too especially if the site will cover the whole Africa. Charge some money to post things like jobs in cities and leave the rest to be free etc. Actually, i know a guy working on this now. What do you think? |
Hello Guys, Good News. I just found out that Craigslist is coming to the whole Africa including Nigeria. Yahooooooooo Looking out for Craigslist.com.ng I am so excited so that we can deal locally and catch the ladies (exotic) fast. Wow |
Hi guys, Does anyone know what it take to be granted a license by the cbn to run online\mobile payment system in Nigeria? Any answer or direction will be appreciated. Thank you |
Hello, Thanks for your offer and please call CY @ 0808100999995 or 08052736877 for direction and inspection. Waiting for your call and the car is located at Abuja now. I will also be sending you email too |

Since you got the traffic you needed, you can make this site Facebook of Nigeria with more crowd/traffic. I am not saying you should create facebook type, but make this forum more attractive and professional. This looks like it was the Phbb installed forum and no change.
