Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by uxomykaz: 8:46am On Nov 26, 2022
sudo1986:
Guy, I have not seen anyone going for a PhD program at all. All I can see are Masters and Bachelors with huge amount of financial supports, including assets.

I have not seen any PhD applicant with funding that covers Tuition+10,000 CAD yearly.

How much should the person with this kind of funding provide to for the visa processing?

Apart from Mpower that provide loans to only Masters applicant, which other body provides loan to PhD students?

1) For most people, the study route is a means to an end, coupled with the additional work of getting a supervisor and getting funded, it's not an easy feat.
PhD requires huge commitment that most people are not ready to commit to, except if they have interest in academia.

As a result, the number of people going for a research based program is fewer compared to those going to colleges and course based programs where admission can be easily obtained.

2)I have seen numerous Masters applicant with funding that covers tuition and living expenses. P.hD applicants are usually few ,but I'm sure most of their funding covers tuition and living expenses. Yearly funding for Ph.D is usually more than that for Master's in the same course.

3) If you are fully funded and it covers tuition and living expenses, you would need to provide a proof of this (through admission letter showing the amount of funding, a letter of support from your supervisor to the V.O stating the research you are coming to undertake in his/her lab, stating you would be in teaching assistantship/research assistantship, the amount of funding and that the funding would take care of your tuition and living expenses). With the above, I believe the POF you would need to show wouldn't be major, probably something to cater for flight ,miscellaneous and first month stay before receiving stipend.

If the funding doesn't cater fully for tuition and living expenses, it is expected you provide the offset in your POF.

4)I really don't know, But why would one want to undergo a P.hD that is not fully funded. It is baffling to me.

Please, how do I apply? I'm done with profile completion, but it's showing job closed

on that your profile, you should see job search tab. you can search for the job and click on apply.

if it is showing application closed, check your browser history and search for "profile cockpit" or search "cockpit" or search for a link that looks similar to the one that you used in filling your profile details, then click on it, it should automatically load your profile and then see where to apply

Alienist:

The application is still on.

There's a way around this sha but I think it's for people that have already started the application process earlier. I guess. I'm not sure.

If you started your application earlier, check your history and just try to see if you can find the link you used when it was working. Click on it then continue from there.

Because I saw this a few times and I was able to submit my application about an hour ago.

The application process is quite stressful.

Thank you so much for this information.
I just submitted my application too just now.
God bless

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I've Been Invited For Sterling Bank Job Interview. What Should I Expect? by uxomykaz: 10:10am On Feb 12, 2022
Spark2:
Hi guys,
I've been invited to the third stage of sterling bank recruitment. This stage is called assesment center and the mail I received reads that the Assessment Centre will test skills such as creativity, critical thinking, analytical skills and digitally savvy skills...

Honestly, I do not know what to expect. Any idea?

Be ready to answer questions relating to use of microsoft excel and Microsoft word( Checking your digital skills)

You would be given a topic with few minutes to brainstorm on it, and then required to make PowerPoint slides , and do a presentation. (,Checking your Critical reasoning and presentation skill)

Group task, a topic would be given to you as a group to discuss, give your opinion and analyze.
Try to be the moderator if there is need for such in the group task or try as much as possible to contribute with valid points.
NB: Don't play down others opinion, don't come off as bossy without allowing others to contribute. In this activity, the are looking for how well you work in teams.

Then situational based interview.
Questions like "tell us a time you were innovative when working in a team", "tell us a time you had to deal with an irate customer" etc.
Respond using the STAR (situation, task, action and result) approach .
They are checking your competency working in a fast pace environment.

Try not to stutter and be confident. Dress well too. All the best.

Career / Re: Can I Use Salesforce Certificate To Get A Job Elsewhere? by uxomykaz: 5:56pm On Sep 23, 2021
A simple use case of salesforce is email to case or web to case. It can be used for automation of different processes within an organisation. Just depends on how well you are good at it , inorder to conceptualise problems into solutions using flows , E2C, path creation, etc on salesforce. For jobs, search online or LinkedIn, there are a number of remote salesforce jobs. Though, most are for developers and requires experience, you would still see some for entry level administrator.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 60,000 Salary Job In A Manufacturing Co. Or 70,000 Contract Job At Stanbic Bank? by uxomykaz: 10:37am On Aug 07, 2021
Misturaomolayo:
Dear Nairaland, Kindly push this to the front page for clarification.

Pls kindly advise appropriately if you are in my shoes , which will you opt for.

I currently work with a manufacturing company which are into production of distilleries product as an Account Officer 60,000(Entry level) with no benefits attached but job security and yearly salary review is guaranteed and now Stanbic Ibtc Bank has offered me a contract job as a Bank Teller at their V.I office at Idejo and is a 2 years contract, subject to renewal base on performance and need for service.

Pls kindly lend you voice with respect to what i should do.

Should i continue the formal or opt for the later?

Best regards.

Hello Ma'am

As an Account officer, there is room for career growth in your current organisation. If you equip yourself with the necessary skills, within a year or two, you can apply to other FMCG companies (including multinationals like Nestle and the likes) or even organisations in different sectors.

With the bank job as a teller and a contract staff, room for career growth would only happen if you were probably converted to a full staff and given a role other than teller (say relationship manager). With this career path , you would probably be limited to working in financial institutions.
The bank you mentioned, also try to convert contract staff to full time staff depending if you are still within the age to take their aptitude test.

You divulged too much details about the bank. You might want to remove the branch details, incase you decide to choose the bank job.

Cheers

For Supply Chain, you might want to read about Direct Dispatch method(pros and cons) as against the traditional method used in supply chain.
