Politics / Re: This should serve as a lesson for Muslim-haters - MURIC on hijab judgement by Vado(m): 1:58pm On Jun 18, 2022
JAMO84:
I don't understand why Christians feel threatened by hijab

There are at least 80 million Christians in Nigeria, yet they feel insecure.

Far from it. Christians don’t feel threatened, they just don’t want such religion symbols in their establishment. I don’t see why anyone should have an issue with that. If the Supreme Court make its judgment in respect to the hijab issues in places like Kwara where the church took the government to court about ownership but Muslims tried to smuggle hijab matter into it and says the school are the government’s, Christians would comply. If the judgement favors the church, it makes the schools private establishment and the Muslims students there will have to use berets or go home. It’s simple.
Muslims are the impatient ones not willing to wait for the apex court.

Biodun556:
Yakubu Gowon, and the then chief of staff Joseph Edet Akinwale Wey who was his de facto deputy or vice head of state were christians

Awolowo, the premier of the western region was a Christian

Deputy premier, Ladoke Akintola, was a Christian

The Governor, Sir Adesoji Aderemi doubling as the ooni of Ife was also a Christian in the old western region.

Aguiyi Ironsi and deputy, Babafemi Ogundipe were christians.

Ohh please, Ooni of Ife wasn’t an elected official. It’s a monarchy which hasn’t been watered down this much like what we have today. Monarchs were highly involved in colonial governance & administration in those days. The only reasons Muslim representation was scanty in those days was because while the Christians were going to schools, embracing western education, majority of the Muslims in Yorubaland were only concerning themselves with Ile Kewus.

Chief Obafemi Awolowo & Herbert Maucauly were one of the earliest schooled Yorubas involved in the initialization of our pre & post-colonial politics. It had nothing to do with Christianity preferences. They were just the qualified ones. You can’t mention 2-3 influential and highly exposed Muslims in Yorubaland at that timeframe.

Agunyi or Gowon weren’t elected just as Buhari and Idiagbon (both Muslims) also weren’t. Dude stop being irrationally myopic. You sound smart only to a stupid person.

Guns are still licenced for people here, you can own a long gun with a caliber of .22 or less, you can own a shotgun style riffle, you can not own a gun capable of concealment i.e Pistol/sub-machine gun, you can not own a fully automatic riffle, or any long gun with a cartridge of .23 or greater so no Ak47 style / battle riffles can be owned by civilians.

There is a firemans act/law many private Nigerian citizens own guns. Talk to your local DPO about how to legally acquire one and the prerequisites.

Alright thanks. I will seek for more information. I doubt the cooperation of the police to make it a seamless experience though, even when requirements are met. Between who issues the gun (they the police or one gets referred to a merchant)?

I ask again, was First Baptist at Surulere stoned with many injured & properties destroyed by Islamic fanatics or not? Did the miscreants stone C&S college at Sabo Oke or not? Let's take it further back. Did Muslims not interrupt Reinhard Bonnke's crusade in 2004 which forced the program scheduled for a week to be shutdown after two days? Was this not experienced when K.A. Now,the verdict of ritual killing will stay with the accused owner,no matter what evidence is brought to the contrary.

Both you and the other dude below you didn't sound smart at all. So you think the first person to make contact with the deceased in that position was the said receptionist? So a corpse can wrap itself so well in position in a duvet with only head shown that you'd think it was napping? Let's even put that aside. Can you also tell us why the deceased records on checking in like payment was not invoiced via the normal channel but a transfer to a non-company's account was made? The interview shows Peter Obi lacks the intelligence to govern Nigeria, but trust Instagram people they'd swallow it . Peter Obi's ideas are unreasonable he just appeals to the masses but governance is more than that and we all know he can't do nor practice what he's preaching coz it's impractical. I watched him talking about our dollar dependency today and saying he'd stop the politicians from spending dollar . Now is he not spending dollar himself ?
Same person advocating saying he'd use our resources to send pupils abroad so they can remit diaspora dollar , isn't that brain drain . We are past those childish reasoning. Most of his preachings are not practical but they sound nice to the layman.
Instagram people should stick to their skits and fine pictures.

I agree with your point of view. Any Nigerian politician telling you he will make Nigeria Eldorado without massive drive into even industrialization across strategic states, education with special interest in STEM system, agro exportation and devolution of power is just fooling himself.

You lame attempt to isolate Awolowo from the failure of their time is laughable. If Awolowo doesn't trust the new country that's to be formed, why agree to it? He could have insisted on Yoruba nation afterall the old western region is bigger than many British colonies.

Same Awolowo that you're saying he wanted seccession clause chickened out after agreeing with Ojukwu to leave if Biafra leaves. He even joined the Hausa-Fulanis to ensure there's no possibility of seccession for Biafra or Oodua

Dude colonialism was still fully in gear at that point but only that nationalists were springing up. They were influential but still the Brits still decided who gets what and how. Awo was straightforward about his skepticism of the union, the north was indifferent and had no qualms with the inclusion of the clause, Zik whom was the closest to the establishment said no way. These are known facts. It is also a fact that the thought of or talk of secession became a crime with treason as punitive yet you asked why Awo didn't keep being adamant. These episodes trapped Yoruba and Yoruba interests in Zik's One Nigeria. Do you know how much changed within that period till the beginning of the Civil War? Do you even know that Zik and his NCNC crew voted against Yoruba towns of Kwara and Kabba to be rejoined with the West? These events changed the dynamics of Yoruba interests in Nigeria and we moved on. Show me a document to the effect that he agreed with Ojukwu to leave also if Biafra leaves, I'll wait... Even the popular food blockades & currency switch Awo didn't explore until Ojukwu invaded Ore with plans to proceed to Ibadan and Lagos. Stop blaming others for your gaffes.

I'm not shifting any goal post....whatever clause Awolowo advocated for even if were to be in the 1960 constitution ia irrelevant because that constitution is no longer in use.

If truly Awolowo believe in it, he should have pushed rather than accepting Ziks position which makes him a weakling. Awolowo is just as culpable as Zik so this bunkum you're spilling is actually pedestrian!

So at this age you still fail to realize that actions of yester-years have on some occasions, eternally damning consequences? The past don’t disappear like that if not Igbos wouldn’t be stuck in post-civil war trauma. It’s funny you made a ridiculous statement like Awo should have kept pushing. I don’t think you have a full grasp of our political situation then. Great Britain chaired the constitution conference in 1954, they simply had the final say. Awo used a day to make a case for the clause’s inclusion, Azikiwe & NCNC spent the next day to rubbish the possibility of this. The Colonialists preferred the submission of Zik and ratified an Article that pronounced secession drive as treasonable. Aftet this, the dynamics of our political realities within the union changed but you are here asking that he should have kept pushing lol. Ridiculous.

You're not making sense! Was Awolowo subservient to Zik?

Then you are incorrigible. Nigeria pre-independence was subservient to Great Britain but it was a composition of 3 regions. The entity with the final say at that period was The Queen so having a common front or at least 2/3 on issues bordering on the future of these nations was imperative. Awolowo foresaw a problem with this unholy unification and made it known that the constitution of the state should include a secession clause. He was refuted by your forefather Azikiwe (the grandfather of One Nigeria you tag northerners as today) when he made the statement of ‘the indivisibility and perpetuity of the federation’. Awo was called a tribalist and secessionist. Britain affirmed the unity of the state on this basis. Awo and Yoruba licked their wounds and moved on. How can you try to still rationalize this eternally damning miscalculation from your forefathers? Today you come online disturbing the peace of everyone as if you didn’t mess this up right from the onset.
