Arising from the waste we had with 2023 elections, where INEC blew a whooping N313B or $980m and comparing the outcome we had to the just concluded South Africa elections, we need to tell ourselves the truth. Our electoral commission INEC failed us and ought to be disbanded so that we can hire the South Africa Electoral Commission. Who says you cannot outsource processes to experts, who have the competency to deliver? The whole essence of outsourcing is to get the best hands for the job.

Mahmoud Yakubu and his team of failures need to be sacked so that we can focus on what is important. Why are we wasting money keeping people in offices doing nothing in four years, whereas, we can outsource our elections to a more efficient organization? We can outsource to those who we can call in every 4 years to come, conduct elections, get paid and return home. Infact, with such an arrangement, we can turn all INEC offices across Nigeria to Technology Incubation Centres, thereby saving billions being paid as salaries and emolument to redundant INEC employees, who only have something to do every 4 years. That way, we would not need 37 INEC Commisioners, hundreds of directors, we would not need 774 electoral officers and thousands of people sitting in offices chit-chatting for 4 years until another election cycle.

The SAEC would be free to engage professionals, deploy technology to the areas our INEC said it is impossible, the SAEC would ensure that Diaspora votes are counted. The SAEC would have our results tallied in 24-36 hours. The SAEC would not need the professors from UniMaid, who cannot use MS Excel in 2024. The SAEC would not need an election tabulation room to be waiting for results from Kano, Bornu, Rivers, Adamawa and Yobe, Delta, etc for 4- 5 days after polls closed, because the Returing Officers are held hostage or the roads were blocked by bandits and kidnappers.

The SAEC would do away with ballot stuffing, ballot snatching, results mutilation. The SAEC would not allow us to be seeing pictures of naked women as uploaded results. The SAEC would not allow us to have result portal glitches, because they would have both hot and cold sites to restart collation in event of glitches.

The SAEC would deliver seamless, free, fair, and credible elections for us. Afterall, they have done it in South Africa. They can do it in Nigeria. SAEC would help us overcthe shame we paraded in 2023.

Let us disband the charade we call INEC. Afterall, we have embarked on the much touted restructuring.

I think that it is time fir NLC and TUC to insist on a fixed amount. I heard that they are not asking for N250000. If that is the minimum they can accept, they should stand by it and shutdown the country.
