Family › Re: Share Your Challenges As A First-born by Valkyr: 11:01pm On Apr 18, 2017 |
Maychang: I've been doing a lot of thinking lately, the challenges and how tough it has been as a first born child.
I often heard that many of us go through a lot of challenges which could be fustrating and sometimes, lead to depression.
I also know a handful of my kind who have found it hard in every area of Life- Job, Marriage... infact all areas of life.
I remember how hard it was to scale through secondary school- i remember staying at home for 2 terms for school fees. Even gaining admission to the university was very tough- it was just as though the devil was so interested in my case. After years of struggling , I finally gained admission to the university with many challenges as well.
Now, to the Glory of God Im out of school, Nysc certified, patching up with a small scale company- yet i dont feel satisfied with what Life has offered me. I feel cheated and its annoying when you have to struggle to get jobs with youths who had graduated at age 20/21... and you are just there looking for vacancies that has no age barrier.
My pastor once said i needed to pray well because the devil targets the first born of the family. he said i had to run to God to rescue me. Well...I did pray for many years but things are worse.
I look at my younger brother sometimes and see how well things went for him; most times without stress. I look at other families as well and see how the younger ones are faring well compared to the Eldest. Its really depressing.
Why is Life not fair to us? Jesus is the first born of God's people (how exactly do they put it in theology)...I don't think he found things funny.. Has your mother laid her hands on you? You are the first fruit of her womb... |

Romance › Re: Dearest Hubby, Please Don't Cheat On Me o. by Valkyr: 4:38pm On Mar 25, 2017 |
Incrizz: Dearest future hubby, Please don't cheat on me o. That is if you value your home and your relationship with me.
I will leave you faster than the speed of light if you cheat. Dear men, you may not be so lucky with some other women as they will break your head or pour hot water on you while sleeping! Some other women will break your side chick's head or pour acid on her! While another may destroy your windscreen and flat screen!
I don't want issues with the police or the law enforcement agencies, so I will gently pack my bags and leave.
You don't want to eat one soup for life but you expect me to endure that same boring sh@+ forever and stick with you while you are at it!!?? I hear you!!!
Just in case you don't know, As much as you think you were wired to cheat, So we, females, are wired to not endure cheating speak much less of expect it!!!

A woman can endure so many ills from her man but cheating??! Haba neighbour!
Every woman, past or present, who has stayed on with her cheating man, did so with a lot of tears and anguish of soul.
Please quit trivialising it. It is not a joking sturrvs arall
We women may even forgive a cheating man but flinging it in our faces and telling us to expect it or that you're a man and its inborn is plain heartless and we aren't ready to put up with such wickedness.
Be it known to you today, history is there as proof, there is no campaign or propaganda in this life thrown at women that will ever cause them to accept your lack of self control and view it as natural. It's like trying to reset DNA.
Telling me you'd cheat on me due to a fault of mine is like me telling you that I will cheat on you because you cheated on me. How does that sound to you? Senseless!
Sincerly, I think Faithful Men, and all Virgin Men are too quiet on this forum and society at large! And that's why we think you guys don't exist! Is it that you think you'd be laughed at? And what if you're laughed at?
I wish you guys will all begin to speak out and leave legacies or something behind for future generations to read and be guided by.
Chai!
Incase you didn't comprehende, asking women TO EXPECT cheating from their men is twisted, corrupt thinking!!!
"If you have ever cheated on your woman, and she is aware, and you still have a respectful wife and a peaceful home then man, you are blessed among men!" odimma... and I be like " if ya keeping your promise am keeping mine.. |

Toyolad: #clears throat#...many a times, our feelings, emotions and our culture tend to cloud our way of reasoning. We tend to appeal to our unwritten laws which we feel so closely connected to, this makes us hastily judge issues without critically assessing and analyzing them..one of these issues is the issue about the rightness or better still, the wrongness of homosexuality.
Dear critical thinkers, as reason beckons on us...let's state our positions on this issue that has almost divided citizens of our world into two factions.
Is homosexuality right or wrong ?

If an android reasons, it is not even aware of its reasoning. it does not have qualitative experience (qualia)...consider an automated teller machine and a human teller in a bank...both perform same functions... but the ATM is not 'aware' that it is giving cash, it does not experience it.. |

Op, there is no easy answer, no universal answer. Philosophy does not point you specifically in any direction like those professional disciplines. It bids us to GO into the world and make whatever we may out of ourselves using our mind and body.
The contributions of you fellas delights me. I wanted to write an article for freshers in my dept but dumped it halfway because the philosopherkings and queens I was banking on to share their experiences never replied my mail and I didn't want to write abstractions.
OP, Descartes' devil did trouble me with your question in my first year. Its voice began dying out but it remained. By July, I shall have graduated. I got a part time. I dont even know my cgpa sef but I am jobhunting when I am not doing coursework. But most jobs I see on job boards are located in Lag and I am in Nsukka, so I just do more of reading. I tested waters one day, and a certain firm located in Lag told me to notify them when I grad... If you wanna get certifications, count NIM out...
What does ur resume and covering letter look like philosopher? How well do you sell urself? It matters. If employer needs analytic thinker, you did logic. If they demand communication, Nwanne I did Communication and Information Ethics, if they need what else, bro I find a relevant course..
This is what we've been prepared for.. (Please dear philosophers, methinks we should all keep in touch. WhatsApp or any other means..) |

pweetyoge: I can relate..i studied Philosophy at the University of Nigeria. It came as a result of not getting Law my first degree. did that stop me after Nysc..NAH.... I took a training in Customer service since i adore the field and i am doing fine. I am nt saying it was easy, nah it was not..bt it is a normal course, it is quite enlightening, it broadens ur knowledge and besides when we allow those who know literally nothing about the course to talk us down. It gets to u, they tell u how it is an archaic course of study or how it is an abstract thing nd can not be used in the society. It makes me laugh. Cus Plato argues that philosopher kings should be the rulers as we aim to discover the ideal polis. To b honest, no course is the ultimate, everyone is fighting to succeed. No one will ask u what u studied bt will ask what you can do. Dnt sit n ponder, learn basic office tools..u cn work as a customer service agent n any related field. Or u go for a professional masters degree. I currently study international law. So never say never. These write up is a wake up call to all philosophers. Stop allowing sentiments n naysayers who know nothing abt philosophy have a say. Corgito Ego Sum...Esto Vir Philosopherqueen ngwanu roar for me |

Toks2008: Kunle has been in a committed relationship for 5years with Abigail who happens to be an unemployed graduate of struggling parents.
Kunle who is still trying to find his feet can't provide anything more for Abigail except affection but Abigail needs more than that..she needs a job, finance to start her dream business and money to take care of little things that matter to a lady and fair enough..Abigail is no money freak neither is she materialistic but she is just so unfortunate to find herself in a jobless situation and frustration is setting in.
But as fate would have it,Abigail..meets Daniel..a gainfully employed bachelor who expressed deep desire to have her as his woman.
Abigail suddenly found herself caught between the true desire she has for Kunle and her deep need for financial succor so she throws caution to the wind and starts dating Daniel and eventually got married to Daniel leaving Kunle with a terrible heart break which made Kunle swore never to give his heart to any lady again....
This story is a typical occurence in Nigeria due to the harsh economy that has turned many hard working and decent ladies to be with rich dudes they don't really desire.
The harsh reality I want any Nigerian guy reading this to know is that LOVE IS NEVER ENOUGH.
You either forget having any commited affair with any lady if you are not financially buoyant enough to spice up that romance or risk losing that lady to a dude who is more loaded but if the lady is nice enough...she just might decide to still be with you while dating another guy to get enough money to take care of you and herself.
While it is expedient for responsible ladies to strive to be financially independent in order to be with the guy they truly desire,it is a fact that ladies are naturally designed to fall for financially successful men and this does not mean they are materialistic or lovers of money....its just the way they are.
As a guy If you know you are still hustling with just enough cash to propel only you please stay clear of any committed affair with any lady who has no source of income good enough to cater for herself except you want to risk having your heart terribly broken..
Many single ladies out there expecially in Nigeria are not interested in flimsy, empty, fruitless, stale love talks....the language they understand is getting employed, starting a business, making money to take care of their needs.... and the fact that your lady is still coping with your broke state might just be because she has not found a rich dude who wants her.
If you know you are not man enough to be in any commited affair at the moment please remain single and work hard or stand the risk of losing that lady to another man who is more financially capable to be the man because LOVE IS NEVER ENOUGH.
I don't know if this makes sense. I didnt read the post..."of the three, love is the greatest" |
