With higher premiums, insurance companies will earn more and then pay more taxes, the taxes from these companies would be used to subsidize the cost of public transport for the poor.

It may be inconvenient but these premiums and taxes are very necessary, we say we want a working society, these minor inconveniences are the prices we have to pay to achieve one.

I would like to see increased taxes and duties on importation of luxury goods, increase taxes for car owners, home owners, high income earners etc. we must take from the rich for benefit of the poor. We can’t continue to depend on oil revenues if we must progress as a country.

Does this make sense? I do have a business that pays tax as well, Send me 10k monthly and I will pay tax on it too, to better the country

Politics / How Lagos State Gov't Negligence Caused Gas Plant Explosion Site. Doc by vanshwerz: 8:13am On Oct 11, 2020
This gas explosion at Best Roof Gas Station In Baruwa which claimed 8 lives, destroyed 25 houses, 16 shops and a school among others.

Reports that the residents of the Candoz community in Baruwa area of the State under the name, Unity Community Development Association have complained to the state government through their lawyer.
The residents, through their lawyer, Femi Anthony Agbaje, esq, sent a safe our soul to the Lagos State Government on the activities of the Best Roof Gas Station which later exploded on Thursday, 8 October, 2020 as far back as 5 February, 2018.

The letter written on behalf of the Unity Community Development Association complained that citing the gas station in the area constitute dangers to the over 30,000 residents of the area.
Tracing the history of the construction of the gas station, the letter stated that the land in question located at 61b Cardoso Road, Unity bus stop, Baruwa Inside, Baruwa, Ipaja was purchased by the proprietor of the gas station, one Baba Saheed meant for residential purpose.

The letter expressed surprised that the land was later used to construct a gas cum petrol station which drew the protests of the residents.
The residents were irked that the gas station is located in a residential area where schools, churches and other residential buildings are located. Apparently, the residents’ protest fell on deaf ears of the gas station owner which prompted their lawyer, Femi Agbaje, esq to send a safe our soul letter to the then state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.
The letter dated 5 February, 2018 was titled: HUMBLE PLEA TO SAVE OUR LIVES & PROPERTIES ON DANGEROUS EFFECT OF GAS STATION ERECTED/OPERATED BY THE BEST ROOF GAS STATION, 61B CARDOS ROAD, BARUWA, IPAJA chronicled the history of the gas station and the need for government to act and save the lives and properties of the residents.
The letter explained that locating the gas station in such a densely populated residential area pose serious dangers to the residents and their properties citing how gas explosions have caused disasters in residential areas like Magodo and Badagry where lives and properties were lost.

Copies of the letters were sent to the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa; then Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Wasiu Anifowoshe and media organisations in the state.
The Gazelle News.com investigations revealed that indeed the state government responded on the matter. But the response left much to be desired hence the residents resigned themselves to fate, waiting for the disaster to happen and it did occurred on Thursday, 8 October, 2020 leaving anguish in its trail.
In its response through a letter from the state Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, the state government acknowledged the receipt of letter by the residents’ lawyer saying that the government was looking into the matter.
The state government’s letter signed by TPL Ajayi B.A.A., ADTPS (TSD) which was dated 15 March, 2020 with reference number MPP&UD/TSD/18/72 told the residents that they would swear affidavit to bear the costs of removal of the gas station if approval is granted by the government.

Consequently, the residents were expected to pay the following for removal of the gas station if the government approved the process:
(1) N689,000 (six hundred and eighty nine thousand Naira only) payable to the state Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development
(2) N68,900 (sixty eight thousand, nine hundred naira only) payable to the state government.
Thus, the residents were charged a total of N757,900 (seven and fifty seven thousand, nine hundred naira only) to the state government for the removal of the gas station.
“That marked the end of the matter because my clients could not afford the money,” Barrister Agbaje told The Gazelle News.com on Friday, 9 October, 2020, the day after the gas explosion disaster which claimed eight lives and destroyed properties worth millions of naira.
As residents lament the huge loss of lives and properties to the gas explosion, the general belief among them was that the disaster could have been prevented if the state government had acted decisively on the petition sent by the residents through their lawyer.

Stop typing stuff from your head

The high prices encouraged fracking in America which was thought of as a very expensive way of extracting crude oil before that time.

The revolution of fracking in America meant it imported less oil from other countries.

America was the leading importer of crude oil before that time.

Even Nigeria was not left out because it exported majority of its oil to America before that time. This meant Nigeria had nowhere to sell its oil at that time. This lead to the laws of demand and supply to naturally take place and the high prices began to tumble

Now Saudi Arabia and other oil producers that can improve their capacity started producing more crude oil to make up for the shortfall in earnings.

please do some research and don't just listen to CNN, I know what I am saying.

Bro You took the proposal of Gaddafi seriously

The dollar is the main currency used for international trade for a reason.

Only the likes of China and European Union have the capacity to propose such changes because of the enormous trading power they hold, just like America

Gadadfi or Libya cannot change that. I will agree that America had Gaddafi in its black record before the airstrikes in Libya though.

Well said, Some years back during the fall in Oil price , did you know what was done by the US? they went( I believe you understand this as their corporations) to Saudi Arabia and had more exploration to flood the oil market which was mainly one to deter Russia's economy cus they also are major earners in Oil, it affects Nigeria as well to due to our myopic nature in geopolitics .

You are more confused than i thought. cheesy

America invaded Afghanistan and Iraq because it was housing a group of Islamic radicals that declared war on America because of its support for Israel. Although, there is a conspiracy of chemical weapons hanging over the invasion of Iraq.

The population in Libya called for a regime change because they wanted a man that has ruled them for over Four decades to leave office, but he refused and started killing his own people, what happened next is now history

The Syrian regime is similar to Libya, nonetheless the is not the bone of contention in Syria. America was forced to join the war because of "the so called Islamic state" or Daish.

And Yes, there is a proxy war going on between Iran and Saudi Arabia for the soul of the middle east. The war is currently very visible in Yemen and Syria. It has nothing to do with America, but America might prefer the victory of Saudi Arabia though.

That's not the intent behind those wars my brother,They might be part of but Have you heard o petrodollar money? Gadaffi proposed to oil producing nations to drop the use of petrodollar money which won't be in favour of the US. And Russia and some oil producing nations are now coming up with BRIC

Islam for Muslims / Re: Story Time: I Will Never Drink Wine Again! by vanshwerz: 10:10am On Apr 13, 2018
akinsmail51:

Abu Mihjan was one of the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) (may Allaah be
pleased with them).

This Sahaabi was suffering from an addiction to drinking wine. He was brought and flogged, then brought and flogged again, but he knew that this problem did not relieve him of his duty to strive for the cause of Islam.

So he went out with the Muslims to al-Qaadisiyyah as a soldier, seeking martyrdom on the battlefield. In al-Qaadisiyyah he was brought to the commander of the army, Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqaas, for having drunk wine. Sa’d detained him so that the Muslims ranks would be cleansed of such a person.

This detention was a harsh punishment which caused Abu Mihjan a great deal of anguish. When he heard the sounds of swords and spears, and the neighing of the horses, and he knew that the jihad had begun, and the gates of Paradise were open, he was filled with longing for jihad.

He called to the wife of Sa’d ibn Abi Waaqqas saying, “Let me go and I promise Allaah that if I come back safe and sound, I will put my own feet in the chains, and if I am killed, then you will be rid of me.” She felt sorry for him, so she let him go, and he leapt onto a horse belonging to Sa’d which was called al-Balqa’.

Then he picked up a spear and set off. He did not attack any group of enemy soldier but he scattered them. Sa’d was supervising the battle and he was surprised and said, “This is the running of al-Balqa’, and the style of attack is that of Abu Mihjan, but Abu Mihjan is in chains.”

When the battle was over, Abu Mihjan went back and put his feet in the chains.

The wife of Sa’d told him this wonderful story, so Sa’d admired this man and his care for Islam and his longing for jihad, so he himself went to this wine-drinker, released the chains with his own hands and said, “Get up, for by Allaah I will never flog you for drinking wine again.”

Abu Mihjan said, “By Allaah, I will never drink it again.”

You Can't practise islam with your own reasoning, their are layed principles to follow from the noble prophet S.A.w....
Egein:

1. - You are prohibited from thanking Allah for keeping you for another year?
2. - The memory of dead loved ones doesn't matter. We must learn to forget them?
6. - Do you mean the Tesbih (Islamic rosay) is a rubbish?
21. - Dating or courting isn't allowed Islam? Wait! You just see a person on the road ans ask them to marry you?

OP, YOU ARE EXTREMELY MAD.
