Thank you so much vasgas . please what other certification do I did to go for with my course to be able to fit into the QA sector.

you need to get certified in QA/QC ie quality assurance and
quality control systems.
You can check Google for more information or better still ask people in that sector

that's what am facing now. I have HND in microbiology. I don't know what else to do with it cos according to what they told me, they said it's not a medical course. I don't know if I should go for PGD or to go for medical laboratory science.

I can't tell you what actually you should do.
But if your are able to answer some of these questions, it should give you an hint.

1. Do you have the resources ( Financially, Academically etc) to port to another field(MLS or the rest).

2. Porting to MLS or related Field doesn't guarantee immediate employment but atleast there is 70% .

Also you can also acquired some certification so as to be able to fit into QA sector and seek to associate with those in the field already and been on look out for opportunities ( paid or unpaid)
Going for your PGD is not bad also.

Studying all these life sciences courses(BCH, MCB, ANa) is not actually worth it in Nigeria, but I believe it okay in aboard.
some of my coursemate have gone for their Msc, some have port to entrepreneurship, others port to MLS and others..

yeah thats my discipline. but if i can secure a job nw I'll save up so i can go for masters in Health sciences or Environmental science i nor do biochemistry again.

what about Public Health?
if you have all this local NGOs in your locality's, you can volunteer with them while you gather practical experience

We're in a big mess here....reason I advise anybody planning to further outside the shores of Nigeria to remain there...there's nothing for Biochemists here.

But on a lighter note, Bagging an MSC in Forensic science which is very rare here in Nigeria gives one an upper edge

Try and go for your masters(prolly outside Nigeria), specialize in a field like Forensic science, Biomedical science/engineering, Toxicological biochemistry, Molecular biology, industrial Biochemistry etc. And try to remain there after your graduation!!

because there are alot of Msc bch Graduate, some are still trying to further to Dr so as to become a lecturer.
But how many of them can the academic field take in?

watin biochemistry do this country, the highest number of unemployed graduates are biochemsit. Govt make una help us nw. let there be agency wen dey into reserch. even forensic analysis we dey do am too. make una put us for police forensic investigative unit

most BCH graduate are porting to medicine and surgery, pharmacy and MLS after graduation.

I can't personally advise anybody to study BCH unless the individual has map out everything already.

While awhole lot of people are waiting to be called for their letters even after doing interview, some people are paying heavily and names are been short changed. Good morning Nairalanders,

I've been having sleepless night recently as I've been confused in decision making due to the fact that I'm not well experienced about Job matters.

I presently got an offer at a State Public Service with GL 8 Salary Scale of 63k+ monthly (though it's poor) but with a rest assured constant Promotion every 3 years subject to success in Promotion Exercise. There's also hope that in the next 18 years, I'll get to the Directorate levels (GL 15 - 17) where the Pay Structure seems better with Jumbo rise compared to the poor salary structure of GL 7 - 14... Meaning that I'll have to endure till then before enjoyment start coming. Please note that in addition to Promotion every 3 years, this State Public Service don't owe workers salary as they pay in due time as we all know that Public Service has Job Security. Also, I hope by God's Grace that I become a Permanent Secretary if I decide to choose this path while enduring the Salary (I can switch to Federal Parastatals if the Job Offer comes up later though).

On the other hand, I'm about to get a Full time Staff offer from a Multinational Company (Headquarter is based in the US) with more than 120k Salary for a start. There's Career growth and the chance of living comfortably & enjoying life is cool compared to the State Public Service in terms of Salary. We all know that Private Organisations can decide to lay off workers at any time as there's no Job Security.

I need the assistance of experienced Nairalanders as your advice and point of views with detailed explanations will be highly appreciated.

The best anyone can do here is to advise you, the ball will always be in your court.

You have analyze both the pros and cons of both Government work and multinational.

Which one do you prefer?
where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Are the skills and knowledge you will acquired in the multinational company transferable?
During the pandemic period non of there staff was sack

What has hinder some people growth is "Job security".
I believe that multinational company will open you up to alot of opportunities and if you know what you are doing u can also be a hot cake.

Take your time and think twice with the question (what do I want?)

Finally since you are the seed of Abraham, don't forget to consult the God of Abraham.
