They are the same. In some schools (eg, UniPort, MPH is only awarded to those with MBBS) elsewhere (eg, UNIIBADAN and abroad), irrespective of one's background, on completion of the program, you'd be given an MPH.

Hello, good morning.

1. The best advice I'd give to this person (a graduate of MCB/BCH or related courses) is to pursue his dream. But you know something about this dream stuff we talk about, we have to be practical and not just motivational. Thankfully, the life sciences have better options (industrial, pharmaceutical, food, environmental, etc). BUT if this person's original aim was to be a doctor (or to work ANYWHERE in the health sector), I'd advise him/her to cross over. Truthfully, this is the only way. Well, further studies (postgrad) could earn him a lecturing job but we don't know the future of lecturers without MBBS (or its equivalent) in the College.

2. The MPH/MScPH route is another beautiful option. Very, very lucrative, I tell you. There are NGO's everywhere. He or she should start off as a volunteer in any NGO of his interest so that he'd build a good experience. By the time he finishes his program, he would have gotten some decent experience in the field.

3. About my wife, yes, her certificate opened some good opportunities. She's currently working in an NGO. But you know the Nigerian situation, to find work e hard.

Regards.
The MPH/MScPH
Are the different from each other?
Which is the best?

Hello
Good morningTONYE001,
How are you doing?
Thanks for sharing the information above,

I have a question to ask concerning the issue you raised in the above information....

What is the best advise you can give to an individual who is a graduate of one of the life sciences course (MCB, BMB)?

Should he proceed to Msc for public Health (MPH)
or better still re enrol for another degree?

And how is madam doing after studying the MPH at Masters level?
Did the certificate open her to alot of opportunities?

Finally note,
The individual in question is 24yrs old...

Thanks in anticipation for your reply.…

TONYE001:
Wow.

So, what's the current situation of things for graduates of BMS?

After all said and done, the best path remains crossing over to the professional courses in the health sciences: Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Medicine, Dentistry.

If you don't do the above, you'd remain a second class citizen. I'm sure we're aware that lecturers in the College without an MBBS degree are no longer allowed to lecture medical students. Imagine that. If you don't have an MBBS or a BDS, I doubt you can be the Provost of the College.

I studied Physiology up to the Master's level. I'm currently back to undergrad medicine and would be finishing soon.

Please, those that are still undergrad students, FORGET what your lecturers tell you about how lucrative the field is. Please, discard that info. The field IS NOT lucrative. As you study, begin to look for routes to better disciplines.

Well, you can also do an MPH, this doesn't require an MBBS degree. My wife took this path (she studied Anatomy).

If you have funds, please consider leaving the country. There are better opportunities out there.

I agree with some posters up there. The undergrad programs in BMS should either be restructured or scrapped.

Good one.

Please you really need prayer to make his assistance a reality.

A senator collected my credentials in the middle of last year and up till now I am still optimistic of God's favor from the Man as regards to a better Federal govt. Job.

This is the senator I always see once in a week and also knew his house within my estate. His excuse now is that if not CONVID I would have gotten a job through him.

What I am trying to point out here is that, no matter the promised just pray fervently and continue to remind him or her because people are many seeking for senator's help for job.

God will answer our prayers soonest.

There is a thread here on nairaland dedicated to volunteer work opportunities.

The thread name is

Thread On Volunteering Opportunities In Nigeria

Also there is also a telegram group own by that same thread above....

Note: Please I will want you to take your time to Google up what volunteering work is all about.
The little I can tell you is that not all of them pay but some can appreciate you with T.p sometimes.

The beauty part of it is that you gain experience that will position you for future opportunities in other related NGOs..

You are still young and no much responsibility I guess..

u can give it a try

Me, I'm still young. Just finished NYSC this year, we will keep trying private institutions and NGOs, if no VIPs wants to help us.

Would love to volunteer with some organization to gain experience?

What course do you study?
And your state of resident?

Note: I don't have a job to offer you ooo but I can connect to different start up organization who are in need of volunteers...

Place order on July 14

Reached Nigeria on 1 August

Called to come and pick it on 21st of August but i will be going on Monday to pick it.....

I'm a newbie in this stuff, I want to buy and sell some selected product.

1. Do I need to test the product that I order for before selling it(or I can just go ahead and sell them)... why I am asking is to avoid customers problem.

2. Do I need to go along with anything when I am going to pick the product maybe ID card

3. Finally will I be charged at the POST OFFICE?

Thanks in anticipation......

So apparently things are improving with deliveries, although NIPOST is still footdragging seriously. Someone that was supposed to pick up an item for me got there around 4:02pm only to be told that they usually close by 2pm because of Corona. I mean ever since lockdown has been lifted and people asked to resume to work.

An item that's been 114 days in transit suddenly changed status update a huge leap from "dispatched to overseas" in May to delivery today all within 2 days. SMS received for pickup. Singapore Post.
