Politics / Re: How Fulani Bandits Coordinated Attacks On Oyo Correctional Facility To Free Warl by Vesuvius(m): 6:31pm On Oct 23, 2021
Insecurity:
How Fulani Bandits Coordinated Attacks On Oyo Correctional Facility To Free Warlord Wakili, Other Criminal Herdsmen In Detention
Top prison officials told SaharaReporters on Saturday that the gunmen carried out the attack to free the detained notorious Fulani warlord, Iskilu Wakili and other criminal Fulani herdsmen in the facility.

The attack on the Abolongo correctional facility, Oyo town in Oyo State was planned and carried out by Fulani gunmen, believed also to be invading bandits, SaharaReporters has learnt.

Top prison officials told SaharaReporters on Saturday that the gunmen carried out the attack to free the detained notorious Fulani warlord, Iskilu Wakili and other criminal Fulani herdsmen in the facility.

SaharaReporters, however, reported that hundreds of inmates used the opportunity of the attack which was carried out around 10pm on Friday, to escape from the facility.

Sources told SaharaReporters that the gunmen, three days before the Friday invasion, struck in Ogbomoso, a neighbouring town to Oyo, and the security operatives were fully aware of their presence in the area.

“The attack in Oyo last night from the Ogbomosho axis was a well-coordinated Fulani attack aimed at securing the release of Wakili, the terrorist whom (Sunday Adeyemo) Igboho drove away from Ibarapa. I am informed by my staff and very reliable people that he was the object of that attack last night at about 10pm,” one of the top source said.

“The rest was just drama. My security staff told me the gunmen struck three days ago on the Oyo-Ogbomosho Road and around that time, their strange faces were also seen around an area the boys described to me. This was a well-coordinated attack with the objective to free Wakili and other Fulani inmates,” he added.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that the entrance to the prison was blown with an explosive device while security officials at the prison fled for their safety.

— Sahara Reporters (@SaharaReporters) October 23, 2021
Speaking with SaharaReporters on phone, the spokesman of the NCS, Olanrewaju Anjorin, had said; “Yes. It has been confirmed that the attack actually happened. And right now, the Comptroller of Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) and other top officers are assessing the situation. But I can confirm to you that the incident actually happened."

On March 7, a joint team of Ibarapa security operatives, including the Oodua Peoples Congress, Vigilante, and other groups had arrested the notorious Fulani warlord terrorising Oyo communities, Wakili.

Wakili had been arrested after several attempts resulting in a gun battle.

There had been reports that Wakili and his gang were involved in the killings and kidnapping of several people in Ibarapa, Oke Ogun, Oyo State.

Wakili was nabbed barely seven days after his second-in-command, Isiaka Muhammadu, was arrested alongside four others.

The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, had confirmed Wakili’s arrest in a statement.

On June 7, no fewer than 17 persons were reportedly shot dead by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen at Igangan, in the Ibarapa North LGA.

Residents had said the hoodlums invaded the town on motorcycles around 11pm in an attack which continued until around 3am on Sunday.

They had fingered Wakili’s men on a revenge mission to be behind the attack.

At daybreak, residents reportedly saw corpses of children and adults littered some places in the town, while houses and vehicles, including a truck loaded with cassava flour, were razed by the attackers.

The Convener, Igangan Development Advocates, Oladiran Oladokun, had said the gunmen set fire to houses to drive out the people, after which they opened fire on them.

He said the government did not take the security seriously, adding that they had reported that the herdsmen were planning to attack them.

My dear you never jam gamophobic folks. Personally, my Christian background and tough upbringing had me locked up to myself. I was kinda stingy with my love and freedom. It's hard to understand if you have never been there.

You seem not to have met independent minded folks. They do exist though you may never be conversant with them. I feared marriage and being locked up in it those days...

That I am even here doesn't mean I am not scared equally. It's simply because I am just tryna go with faith and commit the rest to God's hand grin

I was marriage phobic for many years. But of recent, I have had change of mind after my bosom friend who is now in the States urged me to open up. He is presently in North Carolina, just like me, he kept off marriage after 2 serial heartbreaks. But as fate would have it, he was introduced to a Nigerian American lady and they both clicked.

Since then I have decided to be more open minded to relationships. And it seems foreign ladies have more matured mindsets and are less cheap cos they know what they want. With all sense of sincerity and humility, I have turned down requests as this in the past, though it was from UK and the other from Germany. I turned one down too in 2015 from
Virginia , I said let me try this one, it could be my life partner is abroad...

Such a thing will naturally happen to you if you are funny, i repeat funny then intelligent, handsome, and knows how to treat people right. There are some qualities a man will have and he effortlessly becomes women magnet.

The bottom line for me is never to play with a woman's emotions or make her feel cheap just cos she fell for you. Love no get respect you know. As per my experience, some go as far as boldly touching my chest repeatedly when talking to me while some will engage in meaningless talk just to get your attention. Some will send me private whatsapp messages while some will always poke suggestive fun at you at every slightest opportunity. Different moves same intention/target.

[b]Just look at the claptrap abagworo vomiting thrash here. Please bro. Bookmark this my post.[/b. PDP will form an alliance with APGA and thrash APC hands down. The fact is that there is no way on earth Okorocha can win the Titanic Volcanic Eruption of Araraume, TOE Ikechi, Madumere, Izunaso and Hope Uzodimma.

TonyeBarcanista take note. People will carry placards against Uche when he looses next year. Thats in case they field him. Bookmark this comment for reference.

Abagworo take note. We have our PVC ready. Remember what they did to Ohakim in 2011? When he thought he had federal power? Shame on you for saying that Owerri is not scattered and substandard projects are not littered over Imo.

Even not more than a month ago, there was torrential rain fall that scattered the whole of what Rochas built because they are substandard!

No mind them. They are underestimating Imo politics. Ohakim during his time bragged that he was going to win with a wide margin. He is still shocked by how everything rejected him. Let's be watching how Rochas and Ohashierism will pan out.

Wishful thinking. No be only 90%..

As in eh. That Abagworo is an unrepentant Rochas goon. Most of the comments above show a highly kwashiokored knowledge of happenings in Imo. For starters, Rochas greediness is the cause of all rancour cum bad blood going in the party. How can he insult the whole Imolites, his party members by foisting his family upon everyone through his son in law Uche Nwosu? Haba! That's the height of greediness and political high handedness.

Ignorance is a disease indeed. Cos you guys supporting him have forgotten that these same Izunaso and co he is fighting have always been with him. How can you open war on all fronts, making and fighting enemies you don't need? Only a greedy fool does that. Uwajumogu, Ekechi, Uzodinma and almighty Ararume who helped him win Okigwe zone are all in enmity towards him courtesy of his greediness. APC in Imo state presently is like the proverbial fly perched on a scrotum that needs to be killed with caution. This move will nail APC coffin cos one person can never overpower a community. APC needs those guys to survive. Mind you, trying to overturn the congresses is impossible. If he tries it, then ciao to APC in Imo state.

Every Goliath has an unprotected forehead. DIBIA NA AGWO OZO, OZO NA EGBU YA. LONG MAY THIS FATAL MISTAKE BY APC CONTINUE. APGA AND POP OVER TO YOU!

What do you mean by who is laughing now? Yanni is living in the present. That i stated his past achievements never means he is no more achieving. It should interest you to know Yanni has organized and still organises more concert than Enya. His "Live At The Acropolis Concert" is the 2nd best selling music concert of all time. This is a musician who has performed in more than 30 famous locations the world over(Taj Mahal et al)... It's very obvious you don't know much about Yanni, so i pardon you for thinking less of him.

This's worth noting down, I doff my hat to the queen of new age music. Yanni's good but enya's better.

Say what you know please. For starters Yanni enjoys more patronage than Enya. As far back as the 80s and 90s, corporations like Voice of America, airline companies et al have been patronizing him. In short Yanni has made more money is scoring than many New Age artists. I even prefer Gregorian Knights and Vangelis to your monotonous Enya.

If you wanna enjoy ethereal sounding musical instruments, check out Yanni. His music deals more in practical instruments than your machine enhanced and filtered Enya's music. Some of her hits are copyright. Deep Forest owns "Sweet lullaby", Adiemus is someone's else work. I cann't recall his name now. Enya is good but you don't have to compare. Where i prefer her is lyrical contents. You can sing the wording of some of her songs unlike Yanni.

Ohakim has tried in his quest for our forgiveness. We have forgiven him too. But asking for another term is highly uncalled for. What we need now is a technocrat who LOVES the state and knows what to do. I have this strong conviction that Rochas doesn't love Imo state hence his many inhumane acts.

Frank Nneji is my preferred candidate. At least he has a business that employs not just Imo youths but other parts of the country as well. Not much is known about rapper, Chibuzor Azubuike, aka Phyno’s love life. The artiste rarely flaunts women and unlike many of his colleagues who have baby mamas, nothing of such has been associated with him.

However, in a chat with Sunday Scoop, the rapper spoke about the type of lady he fancies. He said,

“On the surface, I like a girl who is beautiful. But I cannot stand a lousy girl. I like someone who is industrious and can think for herself. For me, it is more about the person’s character and not the physical qualities; that can fade away at any time.”

On why not much has been heard about his love life, he said,

“My love life is private to me and it shouldn’t be a topic for public discussion. As a celebrity, there are a few things about me that are not out there already, but I still strive to keep certain things private. I am not one to bare it all on social media.”

Explaining how he gets inspiration for his songs, Azubuike said,

“The funny thing is that I get inspiration from a variety of things and places. I am basically inspired by everything around me.”

Music/Radio / Re: 9 Nigerian Music Influenced Slangs And Their Meanings by Vesuvius(m): 11:07pm On Jun 01, 2018
magazineguy:
Nigerians are known to be pioneers of words, sayings and slangs. Not liable to be used in the wrong quarters, they are often used to shorten conversations and suitable among cliques and peers, alike. The origin of most of these argots can be traced to lines, verses or hooks of hit songs. Truly, we have heard some that their meanings have not been deciphered or they might never get to see daylight in couple of years. The growth and the pace of the Industry determines the longevity of some of these slangs. Often, the emergence of new artistes and talents has tendencies to influence the popularity of these slangs. Based on popularity, some of these slangs are:

Maga

This one in particular, cannot be traced to the music backgrounds but often times, we have heard it in countless records. It’s a common Nigerian slang that is mostly used by musicians to mean ‘to extort’, especially money. Artistes like Davido, Psquare and Timaya have used this in past songs.

Mugu

Asides, the synonymity with Maga, it has a different conceptual information and deeper meaning. Although, it could be offensive to some folks but what’s the fun in using slangs if it throws you off your seat? Mugu means ‘fool’ or ‘of a dumb person’. Love songs written or sang in pidgin contain this slang. Listen to Wizkid and Psquare songs from 2010.

Jonse/Jonze

Nigerians use this frequently. It means ‘to fail’ or ‘hit a stumbling block’ in pursuit of an endeavour. It is really funny when used in the right moment, especially in the midst of cliques. It originated from ‘Jonzing world’, a song by Mavin artiste, D’Prince which featured Wizkid and Jesse Jagz. Ever since, the coined version ‘jonze/jonse’ has been in use.

Legbegbe

‘Legbegbe’ was one of the songs that ushered us into the shaku-shaku rub era. Though, it was inspired from Seun Egbegbe’s iphone theft case of 2017, the record ended up as one of the greatest records ever from Nigeria. Legbegbe (Egbe egbe) is a yoruba word that means ‘side by side’. Legbegbe is a street banger by Mr. Real and it featured Idowest, Obadice and Kelvin Chuks. On the hook, Real self goes ‘Oya e fun won Legbegbe, iphone 1, iphone 2……’ .

Shepeteri

Another word that got birthed from the Shaku shaku era was ‘Shepeteri’ (from record ‘Omo shepeteri’). Omo shepteri means ‘a bad child’, especially when deviation from morals/moral decadence is involved. Omo Shepeteri belongs to Idowest and Slimcase.

Science student

Science students got attention from the W.H.O, Nigerian Government and even the broadcasting body, National Broadcasting Commission (NBC). Olamide did not enjoy those few weeks of pressure and blames lashed on him (Blame it on the way he delivers his songs, all for the sake of creativity). ‘Science student’ is associated with illegal drugs – cannabis, raphenol, codeine, falcka e.t.c .

Owu

Owu has different origins, especially the one from a Nigerian Literature book ‘Women of Owu’. Owu has been violated by our artistes and occasionally used in their contents. Burna Boy used in his song ‘Check and balance’; Olamide also used it in his rap song ‘Owo blow’. Owu means ‘state being broke’

Omo Wobe

Olamide, once again is pointed at again for pioneering one of the Nigerian slangs. His influence in the streets is as credible as his hits songs. Omo wobe has a controversial meaning – ‘folks that smoke marijuana’. In his popular tune ‘Bobo’, Olamide could be heard on the intro calling, ‘Eyin Omo wobe(wobe), won gbo informaion……’. He even made the sishing smoking sounds.

Osha pra pra

A large chunk of the credit might have gotten to Yovi but we should not leave out the other artistes that infused ‘osha pra pra’ in their songs. ‘Osha pra pra’ means ‘fresh’, ‘clean’ or ‘to look good’. Ask any Lagos folk.

Religion / Re: What Is The Significance Of 40 In The Bible? by Vesuvius(m): 3:22pm On Sep 03, 2017
mattyboy007:
So I was in Sunday school this morning and a question was ask on the significance of 40 in the Bible and no one could give a vivid explanation.

Here are some examples of the Bible’s use of the number 40.

In the Old Testament, when God destroyed the
earth with water, He caused it to rain 40 days and 40 nights (Genesis 7:12). After Moses killed the Egyptian, he fled to Midian, where he spent 40 years in the desert tending flocks (Acts 7:30). Moses was on Mount Sinai for 40 days and 40 nights (Exodus 24:18). Moses interceded on Israel’s behalf for 40 days and 40 nights (Deuteronomy 9:18, 25). The Law specified a maximum number of lashes a man could receive for a crime, setting the limit at 40 (Deuteronomy 25:3). The Israelite spies took 40 days to spy out Canaan (Numbers 13:25). The Israelites wandered for 40 years (Deuteronomy 8:2-5). Before Samson’s deliverance, Israel served the Philistines for 40 years (Judges 13:1). Goliath taunted Saul’s army for 40 days before David arrived to slay him (1 Samuel 17:16). When Elijah fled from Jezebel, he traveled 40 days and 40 nights to Mt. Horeb (1 Kings 19:cool.

The number 40 also appears in the prophecies of Ezekiel (4:6; 29:11-13) and Jonah (3:4).

In the New Testament, Jesus was tempted for 40 days and 40 nights (Matthew 4:2). There were 40 days between Jesus’ resurrection and ascension (Acts 1:3)

Bible scholer in the house come and help out.

The number 40 is a watershed in divinity. In simple terms it means that it signifies a limit or turning point in a man's situation. That's why it usually shows up in remarkable situations in the Bible to portray that a limit has reached for the particular ordeal to change. YOU CAN CALL IT A TRANSITION POINT.

Bible is one book that portrays the importance of some numbers e.g. Numbers 7 signifies perfection, 6 signifies the number of man (man was created on the sixth day. Bible even said it when describing antichrist ala 666 in Revelations 13:18). Numbers 3, 12 etc also have various symbolisms in the Bible.
