Hello guys, I thank you all for the welcome greetings, and thank you for your understanding regarding the delay of my last post.

The day has been stressful for Ethan, with Richard not around he was finding it difficult to get some things right, I hope that his Human resources manager will be able to find someone before he comes back from Senator Philip's party, going to Lagos wasn’t a problem for him as his private jet was always ready whenever you wish to travel, he wasn’t going to spend long at the party, not that he wasn’t a social person, he is, but being around some old politicians wasn’t something he values.
He was at the bar at the party drinking from a glass of champagne that was given to him by the barman, he was just waiting for Senator Philip to give his speech so he could run off to his room that was just on the seventh floor of the same hotel that the party is been held, the hotel belongs to him though only few people knows about this, and Senator Philip again decided to use his hotel for a party. Senator Philip was a man who loves parties that Ethan wonders how many parties he throws a month, he had refused to come but senator didn’t want to hear of it so there he was as always, he just don’t know how to refuse him.
“ I knew I will find you around”
Without turning to see who it was he already knew, he let it a frustrated sign before he could stop himself, turning around he came in face with Nina, who had a little frown on he face, she is obviously not happy not that he cares.
“ you have been ignoring my calls?, please kindly tell me why?” she said crossing her hands on her chest, as usual she is dress in a red knee-length Bodycon bandage one shoulder midi dress with the drees cut open at the side to reveal her fair thigh, parking her hair into ponytail with no necklace on just gold earrings, matching it with her red heel and golden purse, and of course her heavy makeup that fits her perfectly, This’s part of the reason he just don’t like her, Ethan love sexy ladies but not definitely the kind you have to be dressed half naked in public to get attention.
Ethan rolled his eyes at the question she asked, manner lost as always
“Good evening to you Nina, it’s like you forgot your manners at home again “
“ oh please, yeah yeah yeah, manners lecturing again, that is obviously not the topic “
“maybe if you have asked more nicely I could have told you why am ignoring your calls”
He said this dropping his glass of champagne as he made to walk away, Nina looked at him with her jaw dropping, how could he ignore her calls, she quickly caught herself as Ethan walked passed her but she wasn’t going to let him walk away, she just doesn’t know why she keeps trying to win Ethan love even when she knows Ethan has no interest on her, she always gets what she want and Ethan won’t be an exception, even if she has to wait, she will.
She quickly got hold of Ethan arm turning him over to face her, “ you just don’t walk out on me okey” she said her voice a little bit raise, she wasn’t angry but she needed to pretend to be.
“ so you did agreed to ignore my calls”
“ I really don’t have time for this Nina, can we do this another day”
“ well you don’t have another day as you are the one ignoring calls”
He was about to growl in frustration only for him to feel the pressure of someone press upon his back, thank God for the work out he does, he could have lost his balance and obviously fall on Nina who was still standing opposite him, that could have been embarrassing, he was so ready to put all his anger on who so ever decided to be the scape goat,
“ am so sorry, so….so…….sorry” he heard the person apologizing voice who obviously was a lady, he turned round with his angry face only for his face to be replaced with a surprise one on seeing who bumped into him.
They both stood there just staring at each other, each not knowing what to say to the other because them were both surprised to see each other. Well Nadia wasn’t that surprise to see him here but she never expected to run into him, but as for Ethan, he was surprised to see her, after what seems like forever, Ethan decided to break the silent, it wasn’t exactly silent as there was light music playing at the background, it’s a party after all.
“ what are you doing here?” he asked suspiciously but calmly
Nadia was more surprised to hear him talk so calmly but she knew unbeneath that calmness there is a beast about to explode.
“ hello, hi lady, can you stop staring at my man now”, that was Nina who snapped at Nadia who raised her eyebrows in surprise, was she for real or she was just trying to play a joke, any way she was going to play along, at least maybe she can use it to get away from here,
“ oh so sorry, it’s my fault to bump into your man” she said stressing the last word, Ethan let out a frustrated sigh, he was obviously not enjoying this.
“ so now I have apologized, I will just take my leave, bye bye” she was about to turn and walk away but Ethan wasn’t going to have that, he grabbed her by her hands lightly not wanting to leave a bruce on her soft skin, Nadia who didn’t expect to be pull back gave out a light gape of shock.
“ no way you are walking out of here just like that” he said as Nadia stood now facing him,
“ what…..”, Nina wanted to say, for she was shocked at what Ethan did, did they know each other?, or Ethan was just trying to vex his anger on her for bumping into him, but she was cut short by Ethan who interrupted her by raising one of his finger
“ not now Nina”
With that he walked away dragging Nadia along with him, Nadia tried to protest but the hold on her was not letting go, she fear for herself as he watched Ethan heading to the elevator,
“ where……are you…. taking me to?”
She asked stammering in fear, only to be ignored by Ethan. Not long they were inside the elevator yet Ethan didn’t let her go, the little sound from the elevator signal them that they have reached their destination and the door to the elevator opened, Nadia didn’t know the floor them where, but judging from the movement and how long the ride was, she knew they went downward, maybe to fourth of fifth floor.
Ethan immediately let go of her as they entered the hallway, he has took her here because this floor was a private floor, so him and of course those he calls family and friends has rooms here and they all seems to be enjoying themselves at the party.
“ now tell me, what are you doing here and how did you get here?” he was no longer calm, there were not in public so he had nothing to worry about, not that he care more about what others think but if he will end up getting married to Nadia, he wouldn’t want to give them something to talk about before they even get the chance to say I do.
“ well isn’t it obvious, it’s a party after all and I know its not your party”
She replied him, she needed to act as if she is unaware that senator Philip is his godfather.
“ don’t play dumb with me Nadia” he snapped at her, he knows Nadia was here for something and don’t know how to shake the feeling off him.
“ am I?, you are the one that took me to only God knows where and start asking questions”
“ are you following me?” it was more like an accusation than a question
Nadia raised her eyebrows in amusement
“ oh please no, and why will I do that, okey look I know you have your doubts but hey, I didn’t come here for you, why will I even do that”
“ really” he wasn’t convinced
“ I am not following you okey, why will I even do that”
“ I don’t know, you tell me” he said this taking a step closer to Nadia who in return take a step back.
“ what….what are you doing” she was stammering, a little scared of what he was going to do to her, there was no one here so yea she was scared and she did nothing to hide it. Ethan didn’t stop moving until her back touched the wall, even at that Ethan went closer to her until they were no space between them only the hand of Nadia that rest on his chest preventing him from going closer, from the way they were standing, you will mistake them for lovely couples. Ethan was few inches taller than Nadia making her to look like a little child in the arms of a young man, Ethan was so tempted to take her into his arms as naughty thoughts came flashing into his mind, but he quickly shook it off, He placed his right hand on the wall few inches away from Nadia, Nadia hates the warmness his body brings to hers, there was so much warmness coming from this man standing in front of her but yet he seems cold, that’s why she just can’t seems to warm up to him.
“ you are acting all smart now right?, that means the little message I passed to you this morning didn’t clear out things, did it?, I could have allowed you kept in their custody, maybe you wouldn’t be in here right now” he seriously said, Nadia thought about what he meant by what he said until everything clicked
“ you did that just to get to me?” she said more like a statement than a question, Ethan leaded even more closer to her, she tense with his closeness now, this was too close, he didn’t seem to mind their position as he whispers in her ear
“ oh I can do more if you don’t stop pushing me, I am that one man you should beware of, next time, you will not be this lucky, you will leave this place immediately, that is an order coming from me, and you will obey if you want to leave here in one piece “ he threatened
Oh she really want to leave in one piece and he doesn’t need to threaten her for her to do that, she was always on her way out if not for him that brought her here, she didn’t say anything as he just stare at him, after saying that he stepped back and walked away, Nadia let out the breath she didn’t know she was holding, well now is for her to find her way back, she was scared that he could do something to her but hopefully nothing happened, at least she has gotten what she came for.

Nadia arrived to Abuja the next day morning, she took an early flight because she wanted to arrive home on time to avoid unnecessary questions from her mother, because her mother wasn’t aware that she traveled to Abuja, she just has to come up with something to tell her, just as she has planned her parents were still sleeping when she arrived home, she went to her room and immediately went to bed as she was still very tired and sleepy due to the fact that she didn’t get enough sleep before waking up to catch her flight.
The ringing on her phone woke her up, she picked it with looking at the caller, it was an unsaved number
“ hello”
“ Good morning miss William”
She recognized the voice, she immediately sat up on her bed, sleep leaving her eyes,
“ good morning to you, i wasn’t hoping to hear from you again” she said trying not to sound exciting, she was really happy to hear from him, she really needed someone that can help her in arranging her next plan, even if she doesn’t know him that much he felt he can trust him.
Richard chuckles in the other end, “ well of course, just calling to know how yesterday went?”
“ oh it went well, I met with him and luckily for me he left me his card”
“ woah, that’s a good start, so have you called him”
“ no not yet”
“ so what are you waiting for, you have to call him so he can fits am appointment with him, you know he’s a busy man”
“ yeah, I will do that once it’s mid day”
“ it’s already midday”
“ its already midday?” She asked surprisingly
“ yea, it’s 2pm already”
2pm, she was surprised that she slept that long, she won’t blame her body, her body needed it.
“ once we end this call, I will put a call to him”
“ okey then I will leave you to it, just call me back once you are done”
“ okey”
With that the line went dead, she immediately got out of bed to her bag where she has kept the card, immediately she got hold of it she sat back on her bed and dialed the number, she did the sign of the cross as the line began to ring at the other end, after the fourth ring a male voice came through the phone,
“ hello, this is Senator Philip speaking”
“ Good afternoon Senator, am Nadia William, the lady you gave your card to yesterday at your party “
She hope he would remember her, since she knew he might have given his card to a lot of people that night, but what he said surprised her.
“ Nadia, of course, I have been expecting your call, I know you have something you will love to share with me, so how about we meet?”
Well that was easy again.
“ yes sir you are correct, I do have something important to share with you, but at the moment I am in Abuja, but that won’t be a problem for me as I can take another flight to Lagos to see you”
“ no, that won’t be necessary as I will be in Abuja two days from now, I hope whatever you want to tell me can wait still then”
“ yes of course”
“ good, see you then, I will save your number now and put a call to you one am in Abuja”
“ okey sir, thank you sir”
“ Don’t thank me yet, until whatever you want me to help you with is done, you take care”
“ you too sir” and the line went dead.
How was things working so easy for her?, though she has expected this, but she never knew it will be this easy, she was thinking she had to explain herself more before he will even agree to hear her reason for requesting a meeting with him, lord be praised, she quickly went through her call log and daily Richard's number.

” What have I put myself into? I hate this girl for crying out loud , She always act like my girlfriend and I hate it.
“Bonnie was my Dad’s friend daughter and we are neighbors when we are in Germany. She likes me so much and she always think we will end up together because of her Dad’s relationship with my Dad. I have no option than to go and pick her up.

“Why is Luhan acting like this to me, I came all the way here to express my love for him but he is giving me an attitude. I hope is not what am thinking she said to herself.
” I sent a text message to Temi that am on my way to see her and she replied me back I will be waiting for you. Am going to drop you at home Bon I need to see someone at my mom’s school.
” I would like to follow you she feeling excited. Lulu are you seeing someone she asked looking into my eyes .
” Bon am not ready to answer any of your questions can you please let me drive in peace.
” Am sorry , just wait and see what am going to do to that b-----d that wants to snatch you from me. Luhan you are mine and I don’t mind becoming a devil to have you said Bonnie to herself.
TEMI POV
” Lovet has a lecture today so I was the only one at home when I heard a knock on the door. I quickly stand up thinking it was Luhan , I opened the door with smile but was shocked to see the person standing in front of me.

I watched the drama as the elders got on their knees, I was surprised and dumbfounded seeing them that way, even my mother did the same, I looked at Victor, it was only I and Victor that was sitting, I knew Amarachi was trying hard not to break down and I felt for her been put at the center that way, but something got my attention, Mazi Amadi, that is Ada's father, he was kneeling without saying a word, there was hatred in his eyes and I could bet he was not happy kneeling down and them apologizing to Amarachi, the shout from the elders got my attention, I turned and saw Amarachi running out of the throne room.

I got up to go after her but the voice of mazi Amadi stopped me.

MAZI AMADI: what an insult, how dare she just ran out that way making us look like fools, this is so humiliating, I have never been embarrass in my life like this before.

I turned to look at him, he was already standing.

AFAMEFUNA: what did you just say, you have no idea what humiliation is because if you do you will go back down and stay on your knees still she comes back.

MAZI AMADI: what.

AFAMEFUNA: I will not ask again because If I do you will feel the touch of been humiliated.

He immediately went back on his knees.

MAZI ENYINNAYA: please my prince forgive Mazi Amadi, please.

AFAMEFUNA: Mazi Amadi, if you have any idea of what you and your household have done to her believe me you will start learning the words you will use to apologize to your future queen.

He looked up at me and there was a little fear in him and I can see that in his eyes, I love it that way, much better, I walked out of the throne room in search for Amarachi, the guards kept directing me to the direction that she went, I saw her at the balcony, how she got there was still something I didn't know, she was crying bitterly with everything in her, I wrapped my hands around her causing her to turn to me.

AMARACHI: I can't do this, I thought I could be I can't.

AFAMEFUNA: yes you can.

AMARACHI: it so difficult, it's hard.

AFAMEFUNA: I know, I never for once said it will be easy but you have to try and seriously let go, just like father James said you have a heart of gold and that heart of yours is strong enough to do this.

AMARACHI: how can you be so calm.

AFAMEFUNA: because I have you by my side.

I hugged her so tight not wanting to tell her go.

AFAMEFUNA: you will be fine.

She disengaged from me looking into my eyes.

AMARACHI: I believe you.

We walked back to the throne room where the elders were waiting for us, they were already sitting when we walked in, they immediately got up with expectations in their eyes, I looked at Amarachi who in return gave me a smile.

AMARACHI: I know that words can not take back everything that has happened in the past or change anything, it can't bring my mother back or take away all my pains but yet I am here today standing before everyone that has done me wrong in one way or the other to say all this words, life itself is a lesson and a teacher and I have learnt the little bitter part of that life, for the sake of the innocent ones and the people that has shown be nothing but kindness in all my life I sincerely from the debt of my heart without holding back any grudges and letting go all that has been done to me, both young and old I Amarachi Uzochi forgive Amucha kingdom and I pray the peace that was once here return back to everyone's homes.

They were screams of jubilation, the queen ran and hugged me and for the first time I felt peace of mind, it was like an heavy burden was taking off my shoulder, it was nice to be free again, Afamefuna took me into his arms.

FATHER JAMES: now everyone.

Father James brought everyone's attention again.

FATHER JAMES: now that the first step is done the second step will follow.

AFAMEFUNA: and what will that be.

FATHER JAMES: knowing the truth.

Just then a guard ran inside getting everyone's attention.

GUARD: my queen, my prince, my elders.

LOLO AGBONMA: what is it.

GUARD: its the chief priest, he is outside but there is something wrong with him.

We all was surprised and confused.

MAZI OKAFOR: something wrong with him, what.

GUARD: I think it will be better if you see by yourself.

I looked at Afamefuna, I knew something was off, I pray this doesn't cause any more trouble for me, we all went outside, Afamefuna held my hand, with him by my side I knew no harm can come to me.

AFAMEFUNA POV

Holding Amarachi hand we all walked outside to see the chief priest but was visited with a site I won't forget in a hurry, half of the chief priest body or should I say what was left of the chief priest body was burnt from his shoulder to his toe, we all gaze at the horrible site before us, he was sited on the ground shouting for help, there were a lot of murmuring coming from both the chiefs and the servants that were present, amidst the cry of help he was saying something that only him could hear.

MAZI OKAFOR: what is this, chief priest what is this.

MAZI AZUBUIKE: did someone attack the shrine, talk to us we are losing our patients.

CHIEF PRIEST: ohhhh, it is painful ooo, please forgive me ooo, forgive ooo.

He was talking to only God knows who.

MAZI ENYINNAYA: speak to us, who should forgive you.

CHIEF PRIEST: tell Nneka to forgive me ooo, it wasn't intentional.

I was shocked to hear the name of Amarachi mother on his lip, I looked around and saw everyone was as confused as i, I turned looking at Amarachi, I knew many things was going on in her head right now.

CHIEF PRIEST: Amarachi please ooo forgive me ooo, please tell her to stop, tell her to stop ooo, it is painful, ahhhhhh, I am finished oooo.

FATHER JAMES: confess what you did and the pain will stop.

CHIEF PRIEST: I will confess, I will confess oooo.

AFAMEFUNA: we are listening.

CHIEF PRIEST: it all began few months ago, I was in my shrine when Mazi Amadi came to meet me.

With surprise we all turned to look at Mazi Amadi.

MAZI AMADI: me, not me, what are you saying, when did I, don't dare add me to your downfall.

AFAMEFUNA: will you keep quiet or you want the guards to do that for you.

He immediately went silent, I never liked this man anyway.

CHIEF PRIEST: he said he wants me to do something for him that he will give me a plot of land as a gift, I asked him what that might be, he said he wants the prince to marry his daughter.

There where loud whispers among the elders and the servants.

CHIEF PRIEST: he said he wants the prince to fall in love with his daughter, I told him it was impossible because the prince was protected by the gods, who so ever tires to harm him will surely die, that was when he brought anything request that I should kill Amarachi the one that is making the prince not to look at his daughter.

I was growing in anger but I had to remained calm if I want to hear the end of this confession.

CHIEF PRIEST: he said he will add a million naira to the land he has promised if I succeed, the money was tempting so I agreed but killing her was now the problem as she doesn't have any friends that I could use because she was always alone most of the time, so I had to do it myself, I went to her house in the intention to lie that I am doing house cleansing then I could use that opportunity to put a charm that will kill Amarachi anytime she come across it but fortunately for me I got there and saw no one at home, I called out still no one so I went to the back yard to see if I could see anyone of them that was when I came across the pot of soup on the floor in the kitchen, I think the pot was just brought down from the fire, so I knew it make be one of them that just finished cooking, without bothering if both of they dies I poisoned the food, when I heard she didn't die but her mother did and she was taken to the king I knew I will be summoned, I was already planning to turn her oath against her in case she swears but was later told the king passed his judgment to have her executed without the oath taking, I thought everything was settled but the gods stopped communicating with me, that was why I couldn't tell anyone anything when disaster starts happening.

There were shouts from the people around me.

MAZI OKAFOR: you, chief priest, you of all people, so the king was used without him even knowing, Abomination

AFAMEFUNA: if the food was poisoned how come Amarachi is still alive.

AMARACHI: because mother ate before me.

I looked at Amarachi, we all did, her cheek were already covered in tear, I rushed to her before she could meet the floor, I saw that one coming, I knew her legs will fail her, I held her close to be as she sobbed on my clothes, I was angry now, if I get that old fool I will kill him myself.

CHIEF PRIEST: please I have confess oooo, I have confess, please for give me oooo.

My mother came to me and took Amarachi into her arms just what I needed, I allowed my mother to console her while I go deal with those fools.

AFAMEFUNA: guards.

GUARDS: yes my prince.

AFAMEFUNA: arrest that old fool.

MAZI AMADI: my prince, I didn't do anything please.

AFAMEFUNA: you will soon once I am done dealing with you, I will make you pay for everything you have done, you and your family.

He immediately went on his knees.

MAZI AMADI: please my family did nothing, it was I please spare them, please my friends help me to beg him.

MAZI OKAFOR: who is your friend, you are a disgrace to this community.

AFAMEFUNA: guard, go to his house pack any living things you see there and take them all to the community police, tell them no bail until I say so, Mazi Amadi, You will rot in jail, I will make sure of it, take him away.

The guards began to drag him out as he continued pleading for mercy.

AFAMEFUNA: and take that thing that is call a chief priest out of this palace, I don't want to continue seeing his face.

The guards went to the chief priest that was laying on the ground, he has stopped shouting all of a sudden.

GUARD: my prince

AFAMEFUNA: what

GUARD: he is dead.

AMARACHI POV

I opened my eyes and saw myself at my house, how did I get here, I called for the prince but no response, I called for Victor but still silent, I came down from my bed heading to the sitting room, everything was just the was it was before my mother died, that was when all the event that took place at the palace came to me, I broke down in tear again but this time with fear all over me, how I got to my house was a mystery to me, everywhere was so cold that I wondered if they connected a air conditioner to the house, so my mother was killed by no other person than Ada's father and the chief priest, how cruel can the world get, now I am back at the same house it all happened, was this part of the step to free the people from my mother's ghost but yet Afamefuna couldn't have left me here all by myself, he said he will be with me always, but now where was he, there was no one in the sitting room as everywhere was dark and this increased my fear, with the light coming from the full moon I used it to find my way outside that was when I saw a figure standing close to what seem like a grave, I wasn't seeing the figure clearly but I knew it was a person, I called out to him or her but the person refused to turned his face to me or even answer to my calls, I swollen hard and approached the person, as I came closer I knew it was a woman that was dressed in a white long dress.

AMARACHI: hello, please answer me, I just want to know how I got here.

UNKNOWN: because I brought you here.

The person turned and I almost lost my breath as I looked into the person eyes.

AMARACHI POV
I followed the maid in silent as I admired the beauty of the palace, the two times I have been here the circumstances surrounding those times didn’t allow me to have full view of the palace, I must confess the palace is one of a kind, with everything in order, beautiful and rich, we got to a door which she opened, stepping into the room I was lost in it magnificent.
MAID: this is the prince’s room, do you need any more thing.
AMARACHI: no thank you.
MAID: I will take my leave then.
She bowed and left, I walked room the room admiring every single things in the room, from the wall frame, to the painting on the wall, to the curtains, the electronics, to the wine bar, everything was speaking wealth and beautiful I wondered, if the prince lives in such comfort what about the king himself he must be living in paradise, I sat down on the sofa, thank God that Afamefuna told them to bring me here at least i felt more comfortable in the four corners of his room.
It has been up to an hour since Afamefuna went to see his father, I have been going through a book I brought along with me just to keep myself busy, I just hope everything is done fast so I could go back to lagos, my stay here is bringing bad memories to me and I don’t like that, the door opened and Afamefuna walked in, I smiled at him but my smile immediately vanished when I saw the expression on his face, I got up dropping the book I have been reading, he must have been crying judging from the wetness of his eyes, this got me so worried what must have gone wrong.
AMARACHI: my love, what is it.
AFAMEFUNA: my father.

She walked to me and hugged me which I reciprocated, I really needed the hug and coming from her was even better, she didn’t say a word but allowed me stay in the embrace.
Why does it hurt so much, why do I feel this way was the question I was asking myself, I thought I hated my father but instead I was just hurt and now I know why I felt hurt when he turned his back on my happiness, it was because I love him so much and didn’t expect him to do what he did.

EZE NWANYI: Afamefuna, is that you, my son.
I held on to his hand not wanting to let go, who will believe this was once the strong king that can’t be brought down.
AFAMEFUNA: father, it is I, it is me your son.
EZE NWANYI: oh that voice, it is really you, never thought I will see this day.
AFAMEFUNA: father you will see more days to come, what happened.
EZE NWANYI: ohhh I am punished for what I committed.
He coughed, I quickly took the glass cup that was already fill with water, I took the cover away, I stood up and help him in rising his head while he drank from the water, I rested his head back once he was done and kept the glass cup back on the stool.
EZE NWANYI: the gods are angry with me for placing a judgment on a girl because of my selfish reason.
AFAMEFUNA: Amarachi.
EZE NWANYI: after you left.
He was talking slowly counting each of his words.
EZE NWANYI: I was so angry but not with you, I was angry with the girl that was responsible for you disobeying me, I know you were stubborn just like me so I knew it will be hard for we to convince you otherwise since you have made your intentions about her known, I so wanted to hurt her in many ways but her mother was what held me back.
He coughed again and I rushed to get the water but he stopped me.
EZE NWANYI: her mother was a wonderful woman loved by many there was nothing I could do and hate feeling powerless, that day they brought her to the palace saying she killed her mother, some part of me knew she didn’t but the hatred I was having towards her blinded me and I passed my judgment without thinking and without waiting for the chief priest to make his appearance.
I was confused in that part.
AFAMEFUNA: I don’t understand.
EZE NWANYI: in this land before a king passes judgment on a person, the person must first take an oath defending himself on what he has been accused of, only then will the king pass his judgment, a judgment can be passed without the oath taking if the accused confess of his crimes without taking an oath then the chief priest will not be needed but in her case she didn’t agree to the accusation but still I passed my judgment.
I was silent, didn’t know what to say, all this revelation that has been revealed to me is still difficult for me to take all in at once.
EZE NWANYI: my son, I am sorry for not being a father.
AFAMEFUNA: you are the best father I could ever ask for.
EZE NWANYI: no, I neglected my responsibilities as a father.
AFAMEFUNA: you once told me that the crown comes with great responsibilities, it is difficult to be three things all at once, you are a father, a husband and a king, a whole kingdom rested on your shoulder, you are only a man but yet you still tried to fill that space between us, you are my father nothing can change that.
EZE NWANYI: you will be a great king, just as you have been a great son.
I smiled at him even though it came with pains.
AFAMEFUNA: you will be fine, I brought Amarachi with me, she will stop all this.
EZE NWANYI: oh Amarachi, she came.
AFAMEFUNA: yes she did, mother have sent for the elders, once they are here everything will be fine.
He nodded in agreement.
AFAMEFUNA: you should rest now.
I kissed his forehead as he closed his eyes and went back to sleep, I came out of the room, my mother was there waiting, immediately I saw her I embraced her.
AFAMEFUNA: am sorry mother for allowing you to pass through this alone.
LOLO AGBONMA: that’s enough, you have nothing to be sorry about, it is I that should be apologizing.
We disengage the embrace, she was already crying now.
AFAMEFUNA: I love you mother.
LOLO AGBONMA: I love you too son, now go see your guest she is waiting for you.
I nodded and left not without giving her a warm smile.

AMARACHI: your father will not die okey, he will be fine.
Amarachi words brought me out of my thought.
AFAMEFUNA: I know.
Just then we heard a knock on the door.
AFAMEFUNA: yes come in.
The door opened and a man servant walked in bowing to us.
MAN SERVANT: the queen your mother sent me to inform you that the elders and the church priest are here, they are in the throne room.
AFAMEFUNA: no problem, tell them we will be there shortly.
The man servant left closing the door behind him.
AFAMEFUNA: so are you ready.
AMARACHI: yes I am, I want to end this once and for all.
AFAMEFUNA: I love you.
AMARACHI: I love you more.
I held her hands and we both walk out the room heading to the throne room.

AMARACHI POV
As soon as we entered the throne room they all got up greeting the prince who responded, his hand was still twisted in mind and I knew he won’t let go, he smiled at me gesturing me to sit down in one of the seat close to the queen, they were all sited by now, most of their faces was familiar while some were new to me, two men was dress in a father priest wear, Victor was there also, I tried not to be nervous after all the prince was close by and he will always protect me.
MAZI OKAFOR: I greet you my queen, my prince, father James and father frank, our guests and the elders for all finding out time to be here today to see how we could stop the disaster that has befallen our land, the king would have been here today with us but we all know he is not strong enough to be sited with us today but never the less the queen and prince present are here to bless this meeting, I want to personally thank Amarachi, late Uzochi and Nneka daughter for finding out time to be here with us even with everything that has happened she still decided to show up to help us, for this we are highly grateful.
I released the breath I didn’t know I was holding, this wasn’t going to be easy but I was going to make it easy any way.
MAZI OKAFOR: I want to invite the priest father James because him only knows what we are here to do.
With this he sat down, one of the father maybe in his late 50s got up, this must be the father that saw the revelation from God.
FATHER JAMES: I great you all that are sited here today, Mr Okafor has said most of the things I could have say so I will just focus on the important ones, my first speech goes to Amarachi. Everyone has a story that is a discomforting one, a story where pain is but the story of this young girl has got my attention more then any one I have heard, she was accused right from birth for offenses she never committed, rejected because of the circumstances surrounding her birth, treated like a lesser human, casted away to the face of death but in all this she still prevailed, didn’t this tell you something, no one is better than the other in the face of God, it doesn’t matter where or how the person came about, not everyone will be here today sitting among us because of the wrong we did, but she proved to us that she has a heart of gold better than any of us sitting down here, Amarachi I will add myself to this so I will say we all are deeply sorry for everything that we have caused you.
All the time he was giving his speech I was trying so hard to hold back my tear but his last statement just brought all my tear out in a single blow.
FATHER JAMES: you have passed through a lot not even compared to the ones we have passed in this few months, we have hurt you without measures, we are sorry for taking everything from you, do find it in your heart to forgive us.
He said this going on his knees, the other father followed, before I could get out of my thoughts the whole elders joined them, I immediately got up in shock looking at everyone, unable to speak.
LOLO AGBONMA: please my daughter, forgive our wrongs.
She also got on her knees.
FATHER JAMES: all the things we are going to do here today will not work until you have really forgiven us from the debt of your heart, you have to forgive genuinely.
I was lost between time and space, forgiven them was another thing and letting go was something else, how can I forgive then genuinely without holding anything back, I was still hurt even if I was pretending that all was fine, they were all talking at the same time asking for my forgiveness, I would easily say I have forgiven them but I will be lying to myself and if I don’t let everything go nothing might work, I was weak, my heart was pounding so fast and I feared if I stayed any more minute here I might lose it, I ran out of the throne room with them calling my name.

TEMI POV
” I didn’t expect him to kissed me, this is my first kiss for crying out loud , I tried to free myself from him but he was way stronger than me so I closed my eyes and kiss him back even if am novice about it.
I felt an electricity flowed In our veins like lightening. This guy is such a great kisser , he has been kissing me for the past thirty minutes and he didn’t stop so I bit his lip which makes us parted and we were both out of breath.
” I tried to slap him and he holds my hand , I won’t let the same thing repeat it’s self he said and smiled at me.
” We are even now I half yell.
“No dear we are not, you gave me seven slaps and I just kissed you once he said and I must admit I love his British accent.
” I decided to turn when he carried me in a bridal style and I let out a girly scream leave me alone you A-----e but he just keeps smiling.
” He didn’t carried me down despite my screaming until we get to the reserved table.
” He put me gently on the chair and I rolled my eyes while he nods his head at my childish behavior.
” I was still looking around when I saw five hefty bodyguard behind him, I looked at him feeling scared .
” Why are you guys behaving like this I said am okay by myself he said and they bowed and chorused we are sorry sir that’s when I knew he was born with a sliver Spoon.
” He ordered for hamburger and juice while I ordered for the same because I don’t get myself since our kiss.
” He introduced himself to me and I was so shocked when he told me is mother is the principal of my school . I quickly went on my knees when he told me he just wants to save me that he didn’t mean to hold me on the first day we met.
” Am so sorry I said with tears in my eyes and he quickly carried me up and say you don’t have too I think we are destined together ” I looked at him and let out a laugh.
” You are funny and you know you are actually stupid for standing like a statue when I keep slapping you and we both burst into laughter.
“After spending time with him I came to realized he is the second person am free with with. He is such a great guy and I think have took a liking for him.
” We chatted, laughed like our whole world depends on it, I came to know is the only child of his parents ,he asked me to tell him about myself and I did but I skipped the raping part because I don’t want anything that will spoil my mood tonight.
” We are still discussing about my dad’s contact when he received a call from his mum and I love the bond between them because he laughed freely like he is talking to his girlfriend.
” I love your smiled I said to myself when he said you are starring sweetheart I almost jumped because I didn’t know he has ended the call.
” He checked his time and it was half past ten, I have to go Temi he said and stand up and I wish he could stay with me for the whole night.
” I will reconsider your father’s contact he said and I thanked him. I have to go nice meeting you he said and kissed my cheek and I blushed before waving him goodnight. We exchange contact and he was escorted by his bodyguard outside.
” I saw my mum and dad waiting for me in the living room, how is your dinner they both chorused waiting for my reply.
” It was fine, Dad he said he will reconsider your proposal I said and quickly ran to my room while they both looked into each other eyes but I don’t care whatever they think.
” I went to take my bath, put on my pyjamas and lay down on my bed but I can’t get the kissing out of my head and I keep pouting my mouth each time I remember. What’s happening to you Temi I said to myself and I thought Am I falling in love with him?

Nadia exhale tiredly as she dropped her luggage on the floor of the hotel room she has occupied, she has just lounged into one of the hotels in Lagos state, she just have hours to prepare for the party of Senator Philip who she has gotten the location and invitation card from Richard, Richard had called as promised to inform her that he has left some package for her in the hands of her security, she was indeed grateful to Richard now everything was in her hands, she sat down on the bed looking around the room, she was impressed with the room design. She snorted angrily remembering the event that took place in the early hour of that day at her house.
EARLIER THAT DAY
There was a knock on the gate, the security quickly rush out from his quarter, he first looked through the small hole that was made on the gate and found three men standing close to the gate, he opened the gate stepping out of the compound as he closed the gate behind, this he normally does for security reasons.
“ Good morning gentle men, how may I be of help to you” he asked
“ Good morning, I am detective Lucky”, the head of the small group responded
“ we are from the Nigeria Police Headquarter, Louis Edet House” he said this as they all brought out their ID cards showing it to him, he nodded after seeing the ID cards. “ we are here to see Miss Nadia William, is she at home?”
“ yes, please come in”
He ushered them in, detective Lucky and his men walked in after thanking the security, who immediately leaded them to the front door of the house, a maid opened the door after the security rang the door bell twice, he told the maid same thing that detective Lucky said and she too allowed them inside the sitting room, the security went back to his post after that. The maid offered them seats which they declined politely, without wasting time the maid went to Elena’s room to first inform her, she will be the one to call her daughter because she didn’t know what her small ma’am has done that attracted the attention of the police.
Elena was surprised to hear that some police men was at her sitting room asking for her daughter, this was the first time such thing is happening, the maid had gently knocked on the day which was opened almost immediately, she had lower her voice as she passed the information to Elena, Elena without waking her husband as he wasn’t in any condition to handle what ever reason the officer were here for, she descended the stair with a worried look on her face, in no time she was facing the officers.
“Good morning officers” she greeted them as soon as she approached them, they in returned responded to her greeting.
“ I am Mrs Elena William, I was told that you are looking for my daughter, did anything happened?”
“ so sorry to disturb you at this early hour of the day, my name is detective Lucky, this is detective Andrew, and detective Frank, we are from the Nigeria Police Headquarter, Louis Edet House, and to answer your question, no, nothing serious happened, we are just here to ask some questions”
“ some questions?”, she asked surprisingly, she knew the officer won’t say anything until they see her daughter, she trusted her daughter so what ever reason why they were here might be a misunderstanding.
“ go call Nadia”, she ordered the maid that has been standing there all along, the maid bow and left immediately to call Nadia.
Nadia came down few minutes later surprised to see her mother up so early in the sitting room with some men she didn’t recognized, there were worries in her mother’s eyes which she wondered why. She just woke up from that same dream again, she was just about to get up from her bed to pray again as she normally does only to be stopped by a knock on the door, when she was told that her mother called for her to the sitting room, she thought it was all about her father as she rushed down stairs only to meet her mother and three men who later introduced themselves as a police officer.
“ what is going on?”, it was her turn to ask.
“ we apologize for the disturbance, we could have been here yesterday but we decided against it as it was late already when the information got to us”
“ what information?”, she asked not liking the feeling of what was happening
“ we got a call from Mr Donald, I presume you know him?” he asked looking straight at her.
“ yes of course” she answered him without hesitation, she felt something was wrong at the mention of Ethan.
“ he called yesterday reposting a breaking and entry, he said you broke into his office yesterday, is that correct”
“WHAT. I didn’t break into his office” she said surprise at what she was hearing.
“ where you on an appointment”
“ no but”
“ we have you on camera ma’am” he said interrupting her
“ Nadia, why would you go to Mr Donald office, why?” Elena asked Nadia, she was surprise and also a little disappointed in her not because she believed what the officers said but because she never expected she could be too dumb to go and see Ethan alone.
“ mum, I didn’t break in, I was allowed in, you have to believe me” she looked at her mother with pleading eyes, Elena believed her, she knew Ethan was trying to get back at her daughter for some reason he took personal, she was more interested in finding out what happened between them that will make Ethan to take such step.
“ am afraid you have to come with us to the station for more questioning”
Fear took over Nadia, she has never been to the station before, either to visit a friend or for another reason.
“ we will come with you people, but you have to give us time to properly dress up”, that was Elena that spoke, she wasn’t going to allow her daughter to go alone with some officers, she didn’t want to leave her husband but she is also her daughter, she took Nadia by the hand and headed upstairs, it wasn’t easy but she was able to convince Nadia to remain calm as she knew she was scared.
ETHAN’S RESIDENCE
Ethan was in his room dressing up, as usual he woke up early to prepare for work, there was so much to be done as Richard wasn’t around now, and he has to get to Lagos today for Senator Philip’s party, he wish he could refuse as he knew Nina will be there but of course he couldn’t, his presence is always at parties like this as the godson of Senator Philip, and beside it has been long he saw the old man. He knew he seriously needs a new PA, his personal secretary has filled in the gape of his PA after Richard left yesterday, he could have made her his PA but he prefers men, he has already made the announcement to his human resource manager to hire someone else for him, hopefully he will get one today, it always easy to find a replacement of any employee he sack, who wouldn’t want to work in his company.
He shifts his attention to his ringing phone that was just few meters away from him, he walked to where it is, the name detective lucky was boldly written on the screen, he picked it up immediately knowing that the assignment he gave to him has been carried out.
“ yes”
“ we have her now in our custody “
“ good, one strand of her hair shouldn’t be touched, I repeat, not one strand, just give her some paper to sign or whatever, you know what to do”
“ of course sir”
With that he ended the call, a smirk appeared on his face as he imagined the look that will be on Nadia face now, this was just a little beginning of what he has in stock for her.
PRESENT : AT SENATOR PHILIP’S PARTY
Locating the venue Senator Philip’s party was to hold wasn’t very difficult for her, she was still inside the taxi she called to pick her up, she has been few minutes early but she still refused to step out of the car, the taxi driver wasn’t complaining as he will be well paid, there were already people that are all dress elegantly with colorful dresses, men were mostly on suits, she looked as herself thanking God that she has dressed properly and also elegantly.
It has been an hours that she has arrived, she doesn’t know why she was still in the car, was she nervous?, she just couldn’t tell but there was this feeling in her stomach and she just don’t understands it, taking a deep breath she came down from the car and headed to the party, she has already paid the taxi driver few minutes ago when he was getting impatient, she has to pay him to keep his mouth shut, the party was held in one of the five stars hotel in Lagos, stepping into the reception hall after she has shown the security her invitation card. The place was already filled with people of different status, truly this is one big man’s party, now without wasting more time she set out to find senator Philip, she really needs to get everything done, she walked around observing her surrounding very carefully as she wouldn’t want to run into Ethan, her Long Gold Silver Sequins dress with a slash neck matched perfectly on her body bringing and putting her curves in their right places, with a silver heel, a silver purse and silver earrings, necklace and bracelet to go with it, she allowed her Brazilian body wave loose, she did a little makeup bringing out a beauty.
After few minutes of searching , she saw him, Senator Philip, the man she has been looking for talking to one of his guests with a bond smile on his face, “ this is a great opportunity for me” she murmured to herself, taking a step she walked to Senator Philip, who has just finished talking with the guest as he made to move away from them, but Nadia approached him stopping him.
“ good evening, Senator Philip”, she said with a warm smile on her face, extending her hand to him which he shook lightly also with a smile
“ hello there, you are…” he Responded staring into the familiar beautiful face
“ oh forgive my manners, am Nadia William, daughter to the owner of Rockage cooperation”
“ oh, nice to meet you young lady” , he had thought that she was one of the girls that had accompanied some of his men friends to the party but she just proved him wrong,
“ we have meet before at a conference meeting five months ago in Dubai”
Just then he remembered her, though they didn’t exchange any words that day, he has been impressed by her little presentation she did for who he guessed was the company she works for.
“ nice to meet you again, though this isn’t a conducive moment to talk I am still very happy to see you, how are you enjoying the party”
“ oh the party is great, thank you for asking”
“ no need for that, I am the host after all, I will love to see you again that’s if you don’t mind”
Don’t mind, I so don’t mind “ not at all”
“ good, this is my personal card, do call me so we can sit and talk” he said giving her his card he has brought out of his suit pocket, she collected it from him happily
“ I will give you a call sir”
“ will be expecting it, I have to leave you now, I have other guests to attend to, do have a nice night”
He walked away after saying this with Nadia only nodding, she was so surprised as how things went, she had thought it will be difficult but God was on her side, she looked at the card in her hand, smiling inwardly, “ I will so call you, sir”, she said this putting it in her purse, now she needs to get out of here, there was nothing she was doing here and she don’t want to come face with Ethan, she quickly made her way out of the place, without looking where she was going as she walked hurriedly only to bumped into the hard back of someone, it was definitely a male judging from how hard and bond the back is,
“ am so sorry, so so sorry….” She held her breath as the eyes of the only one she didn’t want to see burned through her eyes, so much for not running into him.

To Ethan everywhere moved in slow pace, he couldn’t remember when last he was hit by anyone, all his hurtful memories of the pain he has went through came pouring down on him, then the anger and then the rage, he was so going to kill Nadia for having the thought to slap him. Immediately Nadia slapped Ethan, jack spring up from his seat, he looked shocked but he quickly got himself as he rushed to create a blockage for Nadia so Ethan could not do anything stupid, he knew Nadia was done for, and he was just in time to prevent Ethan from hitting Nadia as him hand was already on the air few inches from Nadia’s face, Nadia was shocked relieving she was almost slapped by Ethan if not for the intervention of the young man that was now standing in between her and Ethan, she stepped back as Ethan was trying so to push through the young man to get to her, Ethan eyes was now blood as he stared at Nadia, how dare she slapped him, and how dare jack block his way preventing him from dealing with her.
“ how dare you, how f**king dare you” Ethan barked angrily as he pushed forward but was always pushed back by Jack,
“ man, you need to calm down, and you take her out of here” he shouted at Richard who has been standing there transfix, he quickly got himself and hurriedly dragged Nadia out of the office,
“ haaaaa, am f-----g going to kill her” Ethan shouted in rage heading for the door but jack was fast enough, he blocked the door preventing him from getting out, he knows his friend was on the edge now and nothing could stop him from exploding.
“ get out of my way” he shouted at jack
“ you need to cool this off, okey,” “ she slapped me”
“ I know but please calm down, you are not leaving here until you are calm”
“ okey am calm” he said trying to behave clam
” no you are not”
“ I said an f-----g calm” he snapped at jack
“ no you are not” jack barked at him
Ethan with annoyance went to his desk in one go throwed everything to the ground, he was so angry right, he can’t just get over the thought that he was just slapped by a woman.
“ what is wrong with you miss Nadia, do you know what you just did” Richard fired at her as soon as they got into the elevator, Nadia wasn’t pleased with what she did but at the same time didn’t regret it, Ethan deserves more than that for putting her father in his present situation, she ignored Richard not interested in what he was saying .
“ look I know you are angry but you went to far, you just put a lot of people in problem”
Nadia looked up at him not understanding what he meant
“ what do you mean?”
“ he will definitely ask how you were able to pass the front desk, the second and third desks then the security without being stopped or questioned, and it will all fall to me, I was the one that passed the order that no one should question you whenever you come around, am definitely going to get sack, he will sack somebody, if not everyone “
That was when it hits her, that’s why she was able to get through without no check up
“ oh my God”, she believed everything that Richard told her, someone like Ethan will definitely do as she was told.
Back at Ethan’s office he was still angry and wasn’t even close to calming down, jack was still standing at the door, he wanted to be rest assured that Ethan was relaxed before he could step out of the door
“ I will so make her pay, she will come rolling on her knees when am done with her, her and her family anyone close to her will hear from me”
“ just calm down a little will you”
“ calm, of course I will be calm after am done with all the plans I have for her, she will so see it coming”
Jack knew his friend meant every words he said, he just can’t believe Nadia could make such mistake, she really picked the wrong guy.
“ come on man, she just hurt and angry, you actually just bankrupted her father, who wouldn’t do more than what she just did”
“ do I look like I care, where is my phone and where is my f-----g PA”
Just then there was a knock on the door, Jack knowing it was Richard opened up for him to get through, Richard entered into the office slowly, he was so scared of what will happen to him if his boss gets to find out that he was the reason Nadia was able to get to his office, he shouldn’t have gave that order, now he knows it will cost him his job and that of some workers.
“ and bring Frank and Max to my office right now, they have to explain to me how that b---h was able to get into my office” he ordered, Frank was the head of security and Max was the head of staff, he already knows what was about to happen, he have to take responsibility for his actions, he wouldn’t want anyone to pay for it.
“ sir” he called not sure on how to say it.
“ why are you still standing there or are you deaf” he has been shouting non stop and he just couldn’t hold himself back
“ sir, I was the one that gave the order of free passage to Nadia” he said with his head bow, Jack eyes grown in shock, his friend was going to definitely sack him.
Ethan couldn’t contain his anger, he felt betrayed
“ you gave free passage to my enemy’s daughter into my company, my company” he just can’t get over this fate,
“ am really sorry sir, I will never make such mistake again, I beg of you”
“ there won’t be room for that, I want you to get out of my sight, out of my company and never to step your foot here ever again”
“ Ethan, don’t you think….”
“ stay out of this Jack “ he interrupted Jack
“ sir please, am sorry” he said admit tear now, he was the bread winner of his family, his mother and two sisters look up to him for everything, how was he going to get a good job as good as this and with good pay, it took him two years after he graduated to get this job, his mother and siblings are the only reason he has been tolerant towards Ethan, now he just lose his job all because of a good gesture.
“ one more word from you then you will see your a-s in jail, I don’t want to call the security on you”
“ Richard, come on, it’s better you leave, come” jack took Richard by the hand and took him out of the office, he wouldn’t want Richard to be dragged out like a criminal.
“ listen, he is still pissed off okey, once he is down he will call you, he will definitely miss his PA, and believe me there is no better PA than you”
“ what if he doesn’t call”
“ he will, you know your boss”
“ that’s the point, I know him, he has never called any one that he has sacked back”
“ he will make an exception in your case, so go home and don’t think too much about it okey”
“ thanks”
“ you are welcome “
Richard walked away while Jack returned to the office, he was now annoyed at his friend, he didn’t know if he will be able to convince his to call Richard back but he has to assure Richard for the boy’s sake
“ what is your problem, why will you have to sack him, that guy has Been working for you for so long now and he has never for once made a mistake which you and I know, this is his first error, why can’t you just let it go”
“ well his first mistake got me a slap on my face”
“ I have never interfere with any one you have ever sacked, I don’t care if you are piss off, if you are angry and if this is your company but you see that young man, you are going to call him back and give him back his job, am not telling you what to do but it’s the right thing to do”
with that he sat do no the seat, both ignoring each other as Ethan also sat down, all his thoughts right now was how to punish Nadia. in as much as Jack was angry with Ethan he just couldn’t leave him alone, he wouldn’t want Ethan to do anything stupid, even if Ethan won’t accept at, he seriously needs someone around him right now.
WILLIAM’S RESIDENT
Nadia got home after hours of driving clearing her head and mind which she needed and walk straight to her parents bedroom, she quietly opened the door without entering, her mother was sleeping at the other end of the bed just close to her father still on the clothes she was wearing in the day, she must have cried herself to sleep, her father too was also sleeping. she closed the door quietly again and headed to her room, she took off her clothes leaving them just laying on the floor of her bedroom, she went to the bathroom to have her bath, she closed her eyes as the cold water touched her skin, this was what she needed, a cold bath. Maybe it will make her to forget what she has done few minutes ago, she drifted into her own thought, “ how am I going to do this, God please help me find a way, my parents can’t lose everything, what if it’s my fault, I should have just agreed to marry him when he asked, God please help your daughter”, she didn’t know when the tears starts pouring out from her eyes.
After about 15 minutes in the bathroom as she spent most of the minutes there crying and talking to God she came out, she put on her pyjama, it was just 7pm but she too decided to sleep, maybe a good sleep will give her a good idea that will help her and her family, she was about to climb onto her bed when she heard a knock at her door, she opened up to see one of the maid.
“ good evening ma’am” she greeted bowing her knees and head
“good evening, what is it?”
“there is someone on the landline that want to speak with you”
“okey am going, thank you” she said trying to think of anyone that will possible call her on the landline, she went immediately to the sitting room where the land line is and picked it up.
“ hello, Nadia William speaking, who is this please” she spoke into the phone
“ Good evening Miss Nadia, it’s me Richard”
She looked at the phone surprisingly then placed it back on her ear
“you said who are you again?” she asked again trying to be sure she heard the name correctly
“ it’s Richard, Mr Donald PA or rather ex PA”
Nadia was shocked with the relaxation, “ he sacked you”
“yeah he did”
“ am so sorry, this is all my fault”
She has been apologizing to Richard even before she left Ethan’s company, Richard should be angry with her but here he is calling her, he just doesn’t know but he have the urge to help her.
“ that’s not a problem, things happens, but that’s not why am calling you”
“ no, then what is it?”
“ I really don’t know why I want to help you but I just want to, if you want to help your family, there is only one person that can help you do that”
Nadia mood lighten up to hear that there might be a way to help her father
“ what is it?”
“ it’s not what, is who, there is only one person that Ethan does listen to and that is his godfather, senator Philip “
“ Senator Philip, I know him, I have met with him on one occasion, he is Ethan godfather?”
“ yes, if you are able to talk with him, he might be able to help, do you want to give it a try”
“ yes of course, but how do I meet him?”
“ he is hosting a party tomorrow evening in Lagos , if you are willing to go I can get an invitation for you”
Getting am invitation latter for Nadia won’t be a problem, that the benefits of being Ethan’s PA, Nadia contemplated on what Richard told her before finally made up her mind, she will do anything to help her parents.
“yes am in”
“ but mine you, Ethan will be there so try to avoid him, you target is Senator Philip “
“ that won’t be a problem” she said confidently
“ I will call you tomorrow so we will make preparation”
“alright, but why are you helping me?”
“ like I said, I really don’t know, talk tomorrow”
The line ended, she dropped the phone contemplating on all what Richard said, she knew it wasn’t going to be easy but she will do anything to get her family back on their feet, she prays in her heart Richard was right about what he said, maybe God is answering her prayer after all, she headed back to her room, she needed to catch some sleep for her, tomorrow is going to be a long day.

AMARACHI POV
After said and done I agreed to go to the village with Afamefuna and Victor, it wasn’t an easy decision for me but it was the best decision, I knew my forgiveness will not bring my mother back to life or change any time that has been done to me in the past but still it will save the lives of everyone that are innocent, we fixed the day that we will set out on our journey to Amucha village so Victor called his father to informed them so they were expecting us, Victor was happy who wouldn’t be when his mother and sister wete involved and they are the reason I am doing this.
The D-day came so quickly, I didn’t bother to park any clothes because I had no intention of spending a night there, I took my handbag and head out of my room, Victor and Afamefuna were already outside the compound waiting for me, we were leaving early in the morning so we will be able to get there on time because we were driving, Afamefuna took my hands leading me to the car, I knew him too was trying to hold himself not to change his mind because I too was, we got into the
car all three of us and set out on our journey.
The journey from Lagos to Imo state was a long one well to me, I slept in most of the journey, when ever I wake up I always see Afamefuna lost in his own thought, him and Victor was sitting at the front with Victor driving while I was at the back seat, we barely talk to each other except if we come across food and snacks sold on the street by traders well that was how it was suppose to be.
We go to Amucha village, as soon as we arrived at the front gate of the city all my past came rushing back to me, I held the tear that was threatening to fall, Afamefuna looked at me and gave me an encouraging smile which I reciprocated, I looked at the window and for first in a long time I missed here, the village gate was not that lively like it used to be, nothing has changed expect for the fact that it was a pit quiet, not much people were seen walking around or hawking products, it showed that the village was passing through a hard time.
AFAMEFUNA: are you ready for this.
Afamefuna words brought me out of my thoughts.
AMARACHI: yes.
He smiled at me, we entered the village and was visited with silent, as early as 9 in the morning the village was quite, many stores were locked, children were not seen playing around the neighborhood anymore and the adults were few, I wondered what tragic would have happened to this once lively village.
The road from the village gate to the palace was not so pleasant, Victor lamented about the quietness while Afamefuna just responded to him, I just keep quiet didn’t actually know what to say since the problem was caused by my beloved mother, we got to the palace and victor horned, the guard came out to check who we were but immediately apologize telling the other guards to open the gate when he saw the prince, there was shock and surprise written on everyone’s face as we drove into the compound, at least there is something that hasn’t changed, I could see maids coming out from where ever they were before, I could see them whispering and some were murmuring but I care not, some were happy and they did nothing to hide it, the car came to a stop and we got down from the car that minute the queen ran out and rush to hug Afamefuna, I could understand, it was all a mothers love, she has missed him so much.
LOLO AGBONMA: oh my son, look at you, didn’t know I will see you again, I missed you so much, where have you been, hope you have been feeding well, you didn’t fall sick right.
AFAMEFUNA: mother, I am fine, glad to see you again.
She was crying now and this made me to miss my mother, if only she was here.
LOLO AGBONMA: Amarachi, thank you so much for coming, you have no idea what you are doing for us, not just the palace but the whole village.
I only smiled at her, seriously didn’t know if I was pretending the smile or if it was real, she also went ahead in welcoming Victor and ushered us in, she was holding Afamefuna hands won’t want to let go maybe she is afraid he might leave again, I held my breath, I was so nervous, I think Afamefuna knew this because he held my hand with the other of his free hand and we all went in.

AFAMEFUNA POV
I couldn’t believe I was back to the palace again, a place I never knew I will see again, my mother was so excited to see me well I won’t blame her, she only misses her son and seriously I missed her too, we all walked in as I held Amarachi hand, I knew she was nervous so I had to make her feel comfortable, won’t want her feet to fall her, we entered the sitting room and again memories of the events that happened here can flashing back.
LOLO AGBONMA: I have sent words already to the elders, we all thought you will be coming later in the day didn’t know it was going to be this early.
AFAMEFUNA: we decided it will be best to come early, where is father.
The impression on her face immediately changed to sadness but she tried to cover up.
AFAMEFUNA: Mother.
LOLO AGBONMA: he is fine, he is just resting, didn’t sleep well last night.
I knew I haven’t lived with my mother for long but I have understood her and this time I know she was lying, sometimes was not right, my father barely stays in his room at this time no matter how weak he is.
AFAMEFUNA: Mother is something wrong.
LOLO AGBONMA: why don’t you rest then you will meet your father later.
AFAMEFUNA: no mother, I want to see him now.
I don’t know but I was scared, in as much that I an angry with the stubborn old man I still don’t want to lose him, he is very much my father and there is still a big part of my heart that love him so dearly, she turned to one of her maids.
LOLO AGBONMA: please take our guest to rest, I want to talk to my son.
AFAMEFUNA: no, take Amarachi to my room.
My mother was a little surprised but she quickly hide it.
LOLO AGBONMA: you heard him, Victor, since your father is on his way too you will have to wait.
VICTOR: no problem my queen.
I turned to Amarachi, needed to make her feel relax.
AFAMEFUNA: I won’t be gone for long, you will be fine okay.
Just then I remembered something.
AFAMEFUNA: where is Nnamdi.
LOLO AGBONMA: he is around but not in the palace, he went to deliver a message in the neighboring town.
AFAMEFUNA: okey.
I kissed Amarachi in the forehead, I care less who was watching.
AFAMEFUNA: you will be fine, will meet you soon.
She nodded in agreement and her and Victor was taken away by the maid.
LOLO AGBONMA: come son, your father will be waiting.
We walked together in silent and got to my father’s room, the guard standing at the door opened it after greeting both I and my mother, I followed my mother inside, there was a man servant in the sitting chamber, he immediately left at my mum weaved him to go.
LOLO AGBONMA: he is on the bed, you can go meet him.
I don’t know but I felt my heart beat increasing, I moved the curtain that was dividing the bed from the sitting chamber and went close to the bed, my father was lying down with his eyes closed, I held my breath finding it difficult to breathe, my father looks pale and sick, there was nothing I was seeing to indicate that he was my father, I didn’t know when I fell on my knees before his bed and held his hand.
AFAMEFUNA: father, father.
He slowly opened his eyes, he gave out a dry smile immediately he saw me.
EZE NWANYI: is this you Afamefuna.
His voice sounded nothing like his, I allowed the tear fall, there and then I knew my father was dying slowly.

” Am so sorry mum, it won’t repeat itself I said and kissed her cheek while she hit me playfully Naughty boy, get out of my office I have a lot of things to do she said and smiled at me.
“I ran back to class but she is no longer in the class. I don’t know why Nigeria girls like guys that came from abroad, if you see the way this girl are flocking at me like am the only guy in the universe.
” Excuse me I asked a lady who was busy chatting on her phone. She smiled at me and asked what can I do for you?
” Can you please tell me which hostel…….You mean the girl you defend earlier she interrupt me.
“Yeah, Can you please tell me.
” Alright, she brings out a pen and book and write something on it before giving me, that’s is the her hostel address and room.
” I thanked her and quickly excused myself because I don’t want her to ask me any irrelevant questions.
” I drive straight to her hostel and waited for her outside, I came down from my car and sit on top of it when I saw her coming. I have nothing to tell her than am so sorry because am not a type of guy that woo a lady out on a first day.
” I gave her a smile when I saw her walking towards me but she stopped and turned towards her gate when I saw she is about to step on a stick full of nails.
” I grabbed her by her hand and she gave me seven sounding slaps and I was short of words because my parents as never raised their hands on me before but a stranger gave me a whole seven slap.
” She looked at me and the hand she used to slap me before running inside. I was still in a dazed when her friend came to me and said am so stupid and walked out on me.
” I felt so embarrassed and quickly entered my car drove straight home. I met my mom at the dinning waiting for me, she stood up and came to me when she saw how red my cheeks was.
” Luhan what happened? Who is the b-----d that did this to you? She said caressing my cheeks.
” Nothing mum I said and ran into my room while she keeps yelling for me to open the door.
” I refused to follow my mum to her school since that incident because I felt so ashamed of myself and I never knew what the girl might do to me again and I wasn’t raised to beat a woman.
BACK TO THE PRESENT
” I was at the dinner party my dad’s employees host for me when a man came to meet me that his daughter could like to meet me.
” I smiled at him and he told me to wait here for her at the end of the stairs and to my surprise it was the same girl that gave me slap.
” She look so beautiful in her dress and I must say my jaw dropped. Is this fate I said to myself.
” She stopped on her track when she saw me and I gestured with my hand for her to come but she closed her eyes and murmurs something before turning back when she slipped and I quickly grabbed her by her waist.
” I looked into her eyes and said you know you owe me seven kisses for the slap you gave me and I kissed her.
“She first struggle for me to released her but I hold her tightly and she later reprocicate back.

AFAMEFUNA POV
It has been two days since Amarachi found out about the events going on in the village and the house has become more like a war zone with Victor bringing up the topic at any giving opportunity, he was trying so hard to convince both I and Amarachi to forget the past and go to the village, I knew I and Amarachi has two different reasons for not going back to the village but all the same we were agreeing not to go, Amarachi wasn’t talking much about this issue but get even more angry when the topic is raised, I was already afraid of losing the good side of Amarachi, thought she will feel a little broken but she was not showing any remorse about anything and this scared me.
I rushed to my phone that was ringing on my bed, I was in the bathroom, just finished having my bath when I heard my phone ringing, I picked it up and saw Victor name on my phone screen.
AFAMEFUNA: Hello man.
VICTOR: where are you.
AFAMEFUNA: am home
VICTOR: please can you and Amarachi come to meet me at my office now.
AFAMEFUNA: any problems.
VICTOR: not at all, please.
AFAMEFUNA: Amarachi is not around, she went to the market.
VICTOR: okay you come alone.
AFAMEFUNA: okey will be on my way.
He ended the call, I was confused about this urgent call, I wondered what was happening but still got nothing, I quickly dressed up and went on my way to Victor’s office
I got to his working place and went to his office, it wasn’t my first time here so I knew my way around, I greeted the secretary who was smiling, well she is always smiling when ever she sees me, on many occasions she has tried to get my attention but I really didn’t have her time since Amarachi was all I think of, she told me Victor was already waiting for me so I made my way to his office, I opened up and went inside to meet him and two other people sited comfortably on chairs, Victor was the first to see me as he was facing opposite the door, he immediately got up when he saw me.
VICTOR: My prince welcome.
That was strange, I can’t remember when last he called me that name, I was looking at Victor with a confused face, the two men also raised up facing me and greeting me in the process, that was when I saw their faces, I couldn’t forget it, they are chief Okafor and chief Enyinnaya Victor’s father, did Victor invite me here to meet them, I looked at Victor now angry, he had this pleading eyes.
CHIEF OKAFOR : my prince, please don’t me angry with us that we came unannounced but we really wanted to see you, it is very important.
CHIEF ENYINNAYA: I know you won’t want to see us but please we won’t take much of your time.
VICTOR: please just listen to them.
In as much as I was angry with Victor I still had to calm down to listen to them if not for any one but for Victor’s father, won’t want to disrespect him in present of my friend, there was already another empty chair at the other side of the office.
AFAMEFUNA: let’s sit.
VICTOR: thank you.
We all sat down, I already knew what the meeting was all about so I just hope it ends early.
CHIEF OKAFOR: my prince, how have you been doing.
I was keeping a straight face, I really don’t know why the question but anyway if I want this to end quickly then I have to just pretend I was following.
AFAMEFUNA: fine.
CHIEF OKAFOR: we are very happy to hear that and we thank the gods for that, we don’t need to introduce ourselves as you already know who we are and the reason we are here, i know Victor have told you everything that is going on now in the village and we have been waiting for your reply but got none.
CHIEF ENYINNAYA : My prince, the people of Amucha village are suffering, some of us have started praying for death to come, please we need your help.
AFAMEFUNA: and what makes you think I care.
They were shocked and it was written on their faces.
CHIEF OKAFOR: why won’t you care, it is your village and you are our future king.
AFAMEFUNA: you are just realizing that because few months ago you didn’t when you tried to destroy my future and my happiness.
CHIEF OKAFOR: we know we made a mistake.
AFAMEFUNA: you don’t because if you did you will know.
CHIEF ENYINNAYA: my prince I know that there is no amount of begging that will make you forgive us for what we did to Amarachi but please innocent people are suffering for our mistake, please you have to help us.
AFAMEFUNA: I don’t even understand this, do I look like Amarachi to you.
CHIEF OKAFOR: no but you are the only one that can help us get through to her.
AFAMEFUNA: this is unbelievable, I want to ask one question, if you people had succeeded in killing her will you be here right now begging for her presence to save yourself.
They were silent, I knew they wouldn’t answer that, I looked at them with hatred.
AFAMEFUNA: I thought as much.
I got up to leave, I couldn’t stand them anymore.
VICTOR: Afamefuna, what is wrong with you.
AFAMEFUNA: no what is wrong with you, how many times did I tell you that I and Amarachi going back to that village is not what we are going to do, you think bringing them here to talk to me will make things better, never call me for this kind of meeting again.
By this time both chiefs has already got up.
CHIEF OKAFOR: my prince.
AFAMEFUNA: and you listen to me, this will be the last time I want to see your face, don’t make me see them again.
CHIEF ENYINNAYA: my prince punish us all you want but not the innocent ones, my wife did nothing so as my daughter, don’t let them pay for sins they didn’t commit.
I was confused now, didn’t understand what he was talking about.
AFAMEFUNA: what are you talking about.
CHIEF OKAFOR: late Nneka ghost is not taking revenge on those that hurt her directly, she is hurting those around us, Mazi Enyinnaya wife and daughter has been sick for weeks now and others too, we fear they might died if nothing is done.
I was taken back now, if Mazi Enyinnaya is Victor’s father then his wife and daughter are Victor’s mother and sister, I looked at Victor who was looking directly to me.
AFAMEFUNA: your mother and your sister are involve.
VICTOR: please Afamefuna, I don’t want to lose them, they are all I have.
I felt so weak instantly, all my anger was gone, I sat down confused, Victor has been good to me and Amarachi, he doesn’t deserve to be punish for his good.
CHIEF OKAFOR: please help us.
AFAMEFUNA: what do have me do.
VICTOR: you alone can convince Amarachi, please talk to her, she will listen to you.
It was hard to agree but there was nothing I could do at this point, my friend family was now involved so I had to do something, he will never forgive me if anything happens to his mother and sister.
AFAMEFUNA: I am doing this for you Victor, because you have been a good friend to me, I will talk to Amarachi but I am not promising anything, we will get back to you through Victor.
They all thanked me before I left Victor’s office.
********************** I got home and found Amarachi in the sitting room, she was watching a movie that got her attention so she didn’t hear when I got In, I looked at her as she laughed at any funny act by the actors in the movie, all the events that happened at Victor’s office came playing in my head, I was not happy with the turn of event but I won’t want that from stopping me to help my friend, if Amarachi is the only one that will make her mother’s spirit to stop disturbing the village and the innocent ones then she haves to go and help them, I was brought out of my thought when I heard Amarachi calling my name.
AMARACHI: what is wrong with you, are you okay.
AFAMEFUNA: yeah I am.
I walked to where she was sitting and sat with her.
AMARACHI: I have been calling you but you were lost in your own thought.
AFAMEFUNA: yea sorry about that.
AMARACHI: sorry for what, sorry for thinking or sorry for not answering my calls.
AFAMEFUNA: both.
AMARACHI: I came home but you were not around.
AFAMEFUNA : yea went to Victor’s office.
AMARACHI: oh okay, you must be hungry, let me serve you your food then you will tell me what you were thinking about.
She was about to get up but I held her back.
AFAMEFUNA: am not hungry.
AMARACHI: why.
AFAMEFUNA: there is something I want us to talk about.
She was worried that I knew.

I took her hands, she needs all the claiming down because I knew convincing her won’t be easy.
AFAMEFUNA: I got a call from victor this morning telling me to come to his office, I got here and met Mazi Okafor and Victor’s father there.
AMARACHI: ohhh
AFAMEFUNA: we talked and they begged.
AMARACHI: so
AFAMEFUNA: My queen, don’t you think we should reconsider their pleading.
She immediately removed her hands from mine.

She got up.
AMARACHI: no you are not, those people, you of all people should know what pain they caused me.

She was now rising her voice.
AMARACHI: you want me to let it go after everything they did, they killed my mother and framed me for killing my own mother, they tried to kill me if not for Nnamdi……
I got up immediately interrupting her
AFAMEFUNA: that is it, if not for Nnamdi, if not for chiamaka, if not for some good people that are still been punished for helping you.
AMARACHI: they did me no wrong to me or my mother so I know she won’t harm them.
AFAMEFUNA: of course she won’t but what about those around them, Victor’s mother and sister are both caught in this, they are both sick, Victor father is among the elders that agreed to your death I don’t know about your mother’s death, Victor has done nothing to us, he has been a shoulder to cry on ever since we knew him, it was through him I was able to see you again, you could have still be on the street if not for him, he doesn’t have to pay for being good to us.
She was silent now and I knew I was getting to her, I took her hands again, she looked at me.
AFAMEFUNA: don’t you see what this is even doing to you, it changing you, you are more better than this and forgiving them is going to make you better than them and stronger than them.
She started crying, I didn’t stop her from crying, she needed it.
AMARACHI: I want to make them suffer, I want them to feel the pain I felt.
AFAMEFUNA: I know but it will just make you be like them and you are not like them, you are Amarachi, the young and innocent girl I felt in love with, the queen to my heart and my kingdom, you are above them and you are going to prove to them that you are their queen.
She ran into my arms as she cried her heart out, it was hard for her I knew but she had to let go, I let her cry without stopping her because she really needed to bring out the pain she was feeling, I only gave her my shoulder to cry on.

Victor was already dressed for work, he was arranging some files in his brief case was I walked in.
VICTOR: hey
AFAMEFUNA: Good morning
VICTOR: Good morning to you.
He locked the case and faced me, I knew he was trying to pretend everything was okay but I have grown to understand him, when he is trying to put on a smiling face in times like this then nothing is right.
AFAMEFUNA: let’s talk about yesterday
VICTOR: what about yesterday
AFAMEFUNA: you know what I am talking about.
VICTOR: I thought you made it clear that you don’t care.
AFAMEFUNA: I do men but how do you expect me to just forget everything they did.
VICTOR: do you realize that it is not left for you to decide.

VICTOR: for crying out loud Afam, the people that are suffering now are not the ones that hurt Amarachi or killed her mother, it’s like you didn’t hear me clearly yesterday, I said my father called me to inform me that the ghost of Amarachi mother is terrorizing the village and the church priest said it is only Amarachi that can help, that if they can find you they can find her, now they are looking for you and you and I know you both of you are with me, do you have any idea what that means for me hiding such a big secret that can save a full village and you just want me to pretend nothing is happening.

I went silent, I knew Victor was right but still I just don’t want to accept it.
AFAMEFUNA: look for now I don’t want Amarachi to know what Is happening.
VICTOR: now I ask why, give me one reason why you won’t want her to know.
AFAMEFUNA: how on earth do you want me to explain that her once sweet and caring mother is now a crazy evil ghost hurting everyone around her.

He took his case in anger and walked pass me only to the door.

He was right I was letting my hurt get in the way, I was angry with my parents for the things they did to Amarachi and I but mostly Amarachi, I don’t know but I just can’t seem to forgive them well maybe because they are my parents so it should hurt more, Victor opened the door only to see Amarachi on at the door, we both froze in seeing her, she wasn’t looking happy and I could tell she might have overheard us because our voices were a little loud.
AMARACHI: I came to tell you breakfast is ready.
With this she walked away more like ran away, with the tone of her voice I knew she was trying to hold back the tear, Victor looked at me then I knew I was in for it.

AMARACHI POV
I wouldn’t believed what I heard, how was that even possible, how can my mother’s ghost be disturbing the whole village, I have gone to Victor’s room to inform him that his breakfast was ready because I knew by that time he will be getting ready for work only to hear the voices of Afamefuna and him, their voices were loud enough for me to hear all what they were talking about even with the door closed, I was dumbfounded and confused didn’t know what to do that minute, Afamefuna was hiding it from me but why, I was still there lost in thought when the door was opened, they were both surprised to see me, I rushed to my room won’t want to break down in front of them, I still can’t believe the village that want me dead are not looking for me to save them after what they caused, they killed my mother now she is taking revenge on them, i entered my room and Afamefuna did too, I didn’t know he was following me, as he stood there quietly I didn’t bother to look at him as I turned my back on him, I didn’t know if I should be angry with him for lying to me and keeping such information from me, he might have a reason but still he should have told me when I asked.
AFAMEFUNA: my queen.
AMARACHI: why didn’t you tell me.
I was crying by now, I couldn’t hold the tear from falling.
AFAMEFUNA: I was trying to prevent this, I didn’t want you to get hurt.
AMARACHI: even at that I deserved to know.
AFAMEFUNA: my queen, am sorry, I thought I was doing the right thing, though I would have told you but didn’t think it was the right time to say it.
I could feel him close to me now, I should be angry with him but I just couldn’t, I knew he was trying to to protect my feelings, I felt his arms wrapped around me.
AFAMEFUNA: am sorry, am so sorry.
AMARACHI: I want to know everything.

He took me to my bed and we both sat down as he began to tell me everything that he was told by Victor.

Victor later came back that evening from work to explain to me better, I won’t say I was happy with the turn of events because many innocent people were still among the villagers, Victor say he was told that sickness has claim some children but none has died yet, their crops were dying because there were no rain even in the raining season, that those that have businesses, their businesses are not going well either, and those that has relatives outside the village, immediately the relatives try to help things turn bad for the relatives and at night the cry of my mother is heard all through the village that made people sleepless, there is no peace in the village anymore, they invited the church priest to pray for the village because the chief priest said the gods was silent but the church priest said God revealed many things to him and told him to tell them that there was nothing that can be done until the evil doers confess and ask for forgiveness from the daughter which is me before everything will go back to normal telling them that I was still alive and will find me were the Prince is but the elders and the king didn’t believe him until they went to another village to consult a powerful chief priest but still that one saw nothing, so this made them to go back to the church priest for help since he is the only one that said something concerning the problem of the villages, it was at that time Nnamdi confess that I was really alive and was in lagos and also gave them the address that Victor father recognize as his son place, that was how he was called, he told them that Afamefuna was no longer with him but he will try and get to him and they have been disturbing him with calls but he was still giving them excuses.
I didn’t know what to say or do, Afamefuna was not in support of me going back to the village, he wasn’t convince that all that was said were true but to me I believed Victor but now to make a decision was now my problem, I thought to forgive someone that hurts you was easy but this was harder than I have heard, this are the people that hurt and rejected me from the day I was born, they took everything from me and almost ended my life, they were the reason I passed through pain and heartbreak, now those people are now seeking for my help, the problem they caused for themselves, if they haven’t treated me wrongly, if they haven’t killed my mother and almost killed me maybe my mother will be in peace now but no, my mother heard the cry of the daughter and want revenge for want was done to me and her and they want to be free from it no, the saying that goes what a man sow that he will reap, let them reap what they have sowed.

” I met my mom at the living room watching cartoons with Bobo in the living room, I greet her and quickly went to my room because if I wait a little bit she will start asking questions about school and only God knows when she is going to stop. I dropped my bag on the bed and quickly picked my phone to call Lovet if there is any information about the guy but she isn’t picking up . I dropped my phone on the bed and check my wardrobe to see the dress I can put on tomorrow but none of them catch my taste when I remember dad gave me a dress as a present on my birthday.
” I looked under my bed because that’s where I kept all my presents.I opened the the box and bring out the dress, it was a pink dress below my knees and I love it , I was still admiring the dress when a call came through I checked the caller and it was Lovet I quickly dropped the dress and picked her call.
“Lovet why are you not picking my calls?how far any information?
” Am so sorry dear I left it in the kitchen when I was cooking for Charles. Well Charles help me did a little digging about the guy and you won’t believe the guy ………………

DINNER PARTY
“I dressed myself up and looked at my mirror and I love the image starring back at me. My Dad came in and compliments my looks because he has never seen me on make up because am not a fan of it but I have to dress well because the party involves a lot of rich people.
” He is waiting for you by the second stairs be a good girl and have a nice dinner he said and kissed my cheek before going out.
” Temi you can do this please keep your anger for tonight I said to myself putting on my heels. I walked out of my room and breathe in and out before walking towards the stairs.
” Everywhere was full with man and woman chatting and dinning with each other and by the look you know they are business partner. I saw my mum chatting with two men, she looked at me and smile and I smiled back .
“Why am I so nervous, how I wish Lovet was here I said to myself and walked slowly down the stairs but stopped on my track when I saw him waiting for me at the end of the stairs giving that smile. I didn’t know what to do should I continue walking or run back to my room but it seems my legs refused to answer me .

The day of the court hearing was drawing near, Nadia and her parents have been working endlessly to come up with at least half the money and it was going well for them, Nadia was able to contact some of her friends she made while on some business presentation and also on her blog and they all gladly helped, some giving her some amount of money as a appreciation for the good advice she gave that helped them in businesses, how ironic that she was helping others business to stand while her parents business has been suffering which she intend to work on once she is done with Ethan.
She was also able to convince Mr Jonathan, Ethan father for a loan too, at first Mr Jonathan refused for the fear that Ethan will be so mad and might do something stupid if he finds out but Nadia assured him that it will be a secret without both of them that even Mr William and Elena will not even be aware of it, Mr William and his wife was amazed at how their daughter was able to raise a large sum of money within days, they were so proud of their daughter and hope that her efforts will not go to waste.
At the end of the week that was given to them by Ethan, adding the money that Mr Williams was able to find many weeks ago and the one he found now, they were able to come up with twenty-five billion dollars which to them will be able to convince Ethan and the court that they will be able to pay the rest if given enough time.
Mr William went to Nadia’s room to see her, upon getting there he found her on her knees praying, Nadia has always been a good prayer warrior, her faith in God was so strong that she always pray before making any decision, to him he thinks that’s why many ways always open up for her, indeed God was at his daughter’s side, he walked in and sat at the edge of the bed gently trying not to make any sound as he wouldn’t want to disturb her prayer.
Nadia finished her prayer after about ten minutes, she was a little disturbed even after her prayers, she felt the presence of someone close to her, she turned and saw her father smiling warmly at her.
“ oh dad, you are here”
“ I can see you are done now, was waiting for you to get through, didn’t want to disturb you”
“ oh thanks dad”
She said getting up from her kneeing position, removing her scarf and placing her Bible on the bed she sat close to her father
“ dad is there anything you want to tell me?”
“ oh no, just wanted to know how you are doing, I was told by the maid that you haven’t had your dinner yet, are you not hungry now?” he asked with concern
“ I am not really hungry”
Mr William saw the worried look on her face, she was indeed bothered about something, she has been in her room for two hours now praying, he wondered if it was because of the court he is going to tomorrow.
“ my love, are you alright? ”
Nadia exhale lightly, “ to say the truth father, I am really bothered “
“why? , is it because of tomorrow “
“ no father, it’s because of the dreams I have been having for about one week now”
Mr William was surprised to hear that from her,
“ Who did you dream about, me?”
“ no father, and that is my worries, I dreamt about Mr Donald, Ethan Donald “
She clarified so her father will not think she is talking about the late Mr Donald, Ethan grandfather or his father, Mr William was surprised at this
“ do you want to talk about it?”
She nodded in agreement, she really wants to talk about it maybe her father can find meaning to the dreams, from the day she saw Ethan, her dream has been the same, and even since she has been praying to God to make her understand the meaning but yet got nothing, it was like the more she prays the more she keep dreaming about it, opening her mouth she began to tell her father the dreams.
IN THE DREAM
Nadia opened her eyes but later shut it close because of the sun light that flashed on her eyes, she used her hand to shield her eyes from the sunlight as she sat up, the place was quiet, only the sound of birds were heard as they fly round the sea, she looked around and found out that she was in a beach but no one was around, how did she get here was what she didn’t know, determined to find her way out of this place she got up from the sand she has been laying on, that was when she discovered she was wearing a wedding dress, what was she doing on a wedding dress, she thought to herself, pulling up her dress she began to walk to no where in particular, she was already getting tired as the heat from the sun was really affecting her, she fell on the sand as there was no more strength left in her, she looked around again to see if there was any one that can help, that was when she saw a man’s figure, she was so happy that at last she wasn’t alone,
“hey Mr”
She called out but the man didn’t even flinch, he was just looking at the sea that was in front of him, she got up and started to get close to him maybe he didn’t hear her.
“Hello, excuse me, do you have any idea where I am”
She asked but just like before the man ignored her, getting frustrated she cried out again
“ can’t you hear me”
Just then the man began walking towards the sea without facing or answering her, she is yet to see the man’s face, “ where are you going?” she asked again but as before he didn’t reply but kept walking further into the sea, “ where are you going?, please stop” she said admit tear now, she was trying to process what the man was doing, did he want to swim or what, then it clinked to her, he was about to drown himself, “ hey stop, you are going to die” she called out but yet he didn’t listen but continue to walk further that the water was already reaching his waist, “ please stop”, with that the man stopped, she was happy that he listened this time, he stood there for few minute without moving, “ hello” she called again worrying why he wasn’t moving, that was when the man turned and the face of Ethan came to view, his clothes was dirty, he looks so unkept and he was crying, she gapes in shock of what she was seeing, “ Mr donald”, Ethan turned facing the sea again he continued walking towards the sea, with terror of what was about to happen she tried to run to get him but her legs refused to move, she fell on her knees now in tears calling out to Ethan for him to stop but he keep moving until he was swallowed by the sea, “ noooooooooo, Ethan”
DREAM END
“His name is always the last thing I say before waking up, and I always wake up scared like its real”
Mr William wouldn’t find any meaning to the dream, as he too was also confused.
“ this dream is very complicated, you in a wedding dress but no wedding and on a beach with no one, he is on dirty clothes and in tears and he drowned himself, Mr Donald will never wear something like that, and cry, I doubt if he even knows the meaning of the words tears”.
“ that’s the point father, and I continue seeing same dream every night”
“ don’t think too much about it, I really can’t help you with the meaning, just pray to God that it’s meaning is not something evil, in time he will explain it to you more clearly ok”
“ okey” she said not sure if she has the time to wait for it to become clearer, she has to know what the meaning of the dream that has been giving her sleepless nights means.
“ why don’t you try and eat something ok”
Nadia nodded in agreement, getting up with her father as both left her room.
THE NEXT DAY
Mr William entered the sitting room feeling devastated as he slowly walked to one of the couch and collapsed on it, he leaned his face on his palm as he sobbed quietly, he has just come back from the court and the outcome was didn’t go well, Barr. John walked into the sitting room standing just close to him friend, he was the one that drove Mr William home as he couldn’t drive after the bad news he got, Barr. John placed his hands on his waist as he exhale sadly.
Elena came into the sitting, “ what happened, how did it go?” she asked no one in particular, she was scared seeing the sad look on Barr. John’s face, in a rush she went to sit close to her husband,
“ love, what happened?” she said lifting his face up but she immediately felt cold seeing the tears falling from her husband’s eyes, she couldn’t remember when last he cried, that was seven years ago when Nadia was involved in a car accident and they all thought she could die,
“ tell what happened?” she asked wiping the tears from his eyes,
“ he took everything, everything Elena, everything” he said as more tear fell out, Elena was shock as tears took began to fall from her eyes.

Nadia came back two hours later, she was out when mr William came back from the court, she went to the church to pray, as soon as she entered the sitting room, she saw one of the maids with a tray in it was a jug and a glass cup on it about ascending the stair, the maid bow her kness in greeting on seeing her, “ Good afternoon ma’am” “ yes good afternoon to you too, where is my parents “ she asked smiling
“ they are in their room ma’am” “ okey thanks” she said ascending the stair, the maid gave way for her to pass then gently followed behind her, she knew her father was home as his car he normally use was parked outside, she knocked on the door, “ come in, its not locked, “ that was the voice of her mother, she opened the door with a smile that quickly faded away seeing her father laying on the bed as her mother sat closed to him holding a small towel that was soak with water on her hands,
“ get me the medicine that is on the dressing mirror”, Elena said not knowing it was Nadia that just came in because her back was faced towards Nadia.
“ mum, what happened” Nadia said rushing to her father side, Elena was relieved to see Nadia, she has been calling her but she wasn’t picking up, she looked at Nadia who was already on her knees holding her father by the hand,
“ the court didn’t go well”
“ what, how, what happened”
“ Mr Donald rejected the money we were able to come up with, and the court couldn’t grant us any more time to pay up as Mr Donald refused to accept the condition of the payment, the court couldn’t do any thing, so he took everything Nadia, everything your father built over the years”
she said this bursting into tears, Barr. John has told her everything that has happened, now they only have a week to release the documents of all the property belongings to her husband because they all worth the 45billion naira, Nadia was shocked at this.
“ what, but we were able to come up with half of the money, that was something right”
“ they didn’t care, Barr. John was right, Mr Donald is really powerful, dangerous and heartless, he said he was so confused to what happened, your father has been this way since he came back, Nadia, I don’t kown what to do, the doctor said he is in shock, Nadia if anything happens to your father, I don’t know how I can live with myself” she said as more tear left her eyes
“ mum, nothing will happen to father okey” she said assuring her, she was so angry inside, angry at Ethan and hurt as the same time to see her father this way, she has to find a way out of this,
“ mum, stay with dad, I will be back”
“ where are you going? ” she surprisely asked but didn’t get any response from Nadia as she was already out of the room.
CLOUDWORLD TECHNOLOGY WORLDWIDE
Ethan was in his office, he just came back from the court, though the result was at his favor yet he just wasn’t content, he was slowly moving around the office and in his own thought, jack and Richard that was with him were looking wondering what was wrong with him, ever since he came back from the court he has been that way.
“ Ethan, are you okey?” he asked with concern
“ yes am good” he answered still walking around, he too don’t know what was wrong with him, he has got what he want or has he?
“ are you sure”
“ yea am cool”
“ you have been like this since you came back from the court, if you are stress, you can go home to rest” jack suggested
“ no, am good, okey, I don’t know why am like this” he snapped
Both Richard and jack was shocked at this, there was something really wrong with him.
“I think its because of miss Nadia” Richard whispered to jack whom seem surprised.
Nadia arrived at the building of Cloudworld technology worldwide, she wasn’t looking happy and everyone could see that in her face, she has cried her heart out as she drove to Ethan company, seeing her father that way has really broke her, first in a long time she was so angry with no other person but Ethan, she angrily walk to the girl she meant on the front desk the first time she came, she could still recall her name, Tracy face grow wide with shock in seeing Nadia, she still remember what happened between her and Nadia , after Richard has left Ethan and Nadia at the office the other day, he had come to her and her colleague telling them to always allow Nadia to see Mr Donald when ever she wants to, she quickly replaced her surprise look to a warm smile
“ good aftern…… “
“ don’t you dare tell me I can’t see that boss of yours” she angrily interrupted her as Tracy face grown wide in shock,
“ what”
“ where is your boss”
“ in the office “ she stammered
Nadia didn’t wait to listen to any other thing she has to say as she headed to the elevator, she still remember the way to Ethan’s office but was disappointed when she got to the elevator and found out that it was blocked and only open with a code, she sigh in frustration, just then she saw a lady passing by, she put on her best smile as he approached her, “
“ good day” “ good day” the lady smiled warmly to her
“ please where can I get the elevator”
“ oh am actually heading there, you can come with me”
“ thank you so much” both smiled at each other as they walked to the elevator, Nadia was surprised that no one tried to stop her even the Tracy of a girll didn’t stop her either, well it was better this way because she was so determined to see Ethan today.
“ you better stop, okey and tell us what your problem is, is it the girl?” Jack asked annoyed
Just then the door burst open as an angry looking Nadia came in view, Ethan stopped at his track, staring at Nadia, all were surprised to see her, Ethan was more surprised
“ miss Nadia” Richard said immediately he saw her
Nadia ignored him and walked forward angrily to Ethan
“ what the hell are you doing here” he asked still surprised on how she was in his office.
“ you devil” that was all she said before she released her hand on his face

Richard leaded the way, both walked back to the hall, there was a surprise look on Tracy face as both walked pass, in no time they were at the elevator, it wasn’t a problem to find the elevator free because it was a private elevator use by Mr Donald and of course Richard when running an errand and his business associates, the lift from the down floor to the top floor where Ethan office is located was a silent one as none said a word to each other, Nadia was a little nervous, she was trying to be brave but it wasn’t really working, in no time the elevator stopped, the door opened to reveal another hall, there were people busy with one thing or the other, they walked passed them with some saluting Richard, while some girls was throwing dead stare at her, she wondered why girls are always insecure when female visitors come to visit their boss.
“ please wait here let me go in to inform him”
“ okey thanks”
Richard left her and walked to a door just few meters away, they are away from the hall now and there was no one around, she sat down on the chairs that are meant for visitors, she prayed things goes the way she planned.
“ God help your daughter”
Richard rang the little bottom just at the side of the door, this was what he normally does when Ethan isn’t expecting him, he was happy that he was able to find Nadia, he doesn’t know but he really want his boss to get married to Nadia, with what he had heard about her maybe she will be the savior to his boss, after the day he went with Ethan to Mr William office and he made the request to marry Nadia, he went and dig deep into the details of Nadia and he was impressed with what he saw, so he just has that faith that Nadia might just be that woman for his boss.
“ come in” Ethan voice ushered him in, he opened the door and went in, Ethan has been on his laptop since he finished the meeting with the Germany investors, he didn’t even went for lunch as there was lot of work to be done, he just can’t leave some important things for anyone because he was use to doing things himself.
“sir, there is someone here to see you, I told her to wait while I inform you”
“I thought I don’t have any other appointment again for today”
“you don’t sir, but she came unannounced and she really wants to see you”
He immediately stopped what he was doing, “she” he thought, immediately his mind went to Nina,
“ I thought I told her not to come today” he said this more to himself, Richard was confused at this remark, was his boss communicating with Nadia.
“ tell her am busy, I will call her when an free”
“ yes sir” he responded disappointedly
“ and one more thing, tell her I will have lunch with her tomorrow by 2pm, so remain me tomorrow to have lunch with Nina”
“Nina” he was totally confused now
“ yes”
“ I thought her name is Nadia”
It was Ethan turn to be confused

“ Nadia William sir”
How could she come to see him, a quick smile was seen on his face.
“ let her come in”
“ okey sir “ he said with a big smile on his face, he quickly went out to get Nadia,

Nadia walked with Richard to Ethan office, it was time to meet the one that want to be her husband.
Ethan closed his laptop as he wouldn’t want to be distracted, he so much want to see how Nadia looks like and her type of person, he knows he was getting married for a wrong reason but at the same time he wants to be pleased with himself for the choice he made, the door was open and a female figure walked in with Richard, he just couldn’t believe his eyes when Nadia’s face came to view, even without any makeover, she was the most beautiful woman he has seen, he has come across so many women but she was different, she was indeed a natural beauty, this will be one thing he will love about her for she to come so natural to see him, most girls could have worn their best and do their makeup in a God I see you way, as he normally puts it, her outfit was causal too and it fits her perfectly, her shape wasn’t bad either, she was indeed made by God.
“ please sit” Richard offered her a seat

Nadia took her seat quietly, she too has been lost in the eyes of Ethan, she never knew he could been this handsome, if not for the circumstances in which they met she would have love to marry him as many times as she would, “ Nadia, get hold of yourself, you shouldn’t be lusting after him, you know why you are here” that was her mind talking to her, immediately she dismissed every thoughts she had about him out of her head,
“ should I bring you both anything”
Ethan gave Richard a death stare
“ I will just leave” the last thing he will want to do is to offend his boss at this moment, he really want his boss to enjoy the moment.
“ so why do I hold this wonderful visit” Ethan said as soon as Richard left, he leaned on his seat entangling his fingers together.

Ethan sat comfortably, he was surprised at what Nadia was saying, there was sincerely in all her words, this was the first time that someone was understanding from his point of view and on the same page with him.
“ my father have the right the pay every single money back to you in one day, and you have the right to do anything as you please to get your money because truth be told the money is not something anyone can just turn blind eyes to, and I know I am not in any position to come here today to see you but I had to since it now involves me, please I know you want to marry me just to be assured that your money will be paid, but do you think it’s the right thing to do”
They were silent now as both were staring at each other
“ don’t you know I have a say in who I will marry and when I will marry” Nadia said again breaking the silent,

“ I came here to beg you, don’t take that choice away from me please” she was trying so hard to fight back her tears and Ethan could see this,
“ please give my father more time and I promise, he will pay back every single money, just a little time”
he was moved by her words but he tried not to show this, he so wanted to give in to her request but then if he gives in to what she said then he will lose such a beautiful being, he got up and made his way to where Nadia is, he sat on he desk just closed to Nadia, Nadia now was nervous, she has never been comfortable with men staying too close to her apart from his relatives and best friend Lucas, she shifted uncomfortably in her seat, Ethan observe her discomfort but choose to ignore it.
“ I would love to really give your father time to pay me back, anytime he wants, but you see if I do that and at the end of the day your father is able to pay me back then won’t that be sad, we both will miss the opportunity to become man and wife”
Nadia swallowed hard, she wasn’t liking where this was going, Ethan leaned more closer to her making her to shift into her seat, Ethan knew he was making her nervous and he loves this, at least she reacts to his presence.

Ethan was hurt by her word, he has never been regretted by any woman before, women beg stand close to him and here is a lady refusing to marry him, he snorted angrily
“ I will pretend you didn’t said that” he leaned even more closer to her, she tried to shift back but her back was already blocked by the chair she is sitting on. Now their face was only few inches away from each other, they were this close that they could feel each other breathe.

He was getting angry now but he is trying to control it, Nadia tried to stand up from the seat but Ethan quickly placed his hand on the chair handle, preventing her to move.

“ I don’t care, I am not going to marry you, you can’t force a woman to be your wife, it just don’t happen”
“I can see you are as stubborn as your father, well we are going to do it this way, I will give you a week to reflect on your word, just one week, like you said I can’t force you to marry me but I can definitely make you to marry me” with that said he sat up giving room for Nadia to flinched up from her seat, she was breathing heavily now, she quickly composed herself as she was scared out of her skin that Ethan could do something to her, the way his office was she knew it has to be soundproof which is good on a normal circumstances but bad for her at that moment
“ you can play any game you think you can play, but I will not be your wife”
She is daring him now, an evil smirk appeared on his lip, this was going to be fun he thought

Nadia couldn’t get any words out of her mouth as she stared angrily at Ethan and Ethan staring back,
“ it could be nice to call you, wifey” Nadia rolled her eyes to this and angrily left the office, she just can’t believe she wasted her time to come here, her father was right after all, Ethan can not be reason with but that doesn’t mean she will give up, this was now her fight and she pray for strength to fight it.
As soon as Nadia left his office a frown appeared on his face, he has never been dared by a woman before, he hate being dared, he took his phone that was just close to him and dialed a number the person picked on first ring
“ reschedule the court hearing one week from now” with that he brought the phone down from his ear, ending the call,
“Nadia, let’s see how well you can play a game”
MR WILLIAM’S RESIDENT
It was later that evening, Nadia came down stairs and found her father sited on one of the couch in the sitting room, he was watching the 9,o clock news showing on the Tv ,Mr Williams has arrived few minutes ago, after taking his bath he had to come to the sitting room to watch the news as he wait for dinner, Elena was already in the kitchen preparing the meal, though they are maids in the house, Elena always sees to it that she makes the meals, she only allows the maids to prepare the meal only when she is sick.
“dad you are back” Nadia said descending down the stairs, Mr Williams looked at Nadia with a warm smile on his face, he asked after her when he arrived but he was told she was in her room resting,
“yes am back, how was your nap” he asked as Nadia went over to where he was and sat just close to him, he placed his arms around her shoulder drawing her closer to himself.
“ it was fine, I really needed it”
“oh you are up” that was Elena coming out from the kitchen
“ yea mom, and am very hungry”
“ don’t worry the meal is ready, let the table be set okey”
“ okey no problem”
Elena sat just opposite them ( Mr Williams and Nadia)
“ so dad how did the court hearing went” she asked, she had no idea that the hearing was cancelled, she thought Ethan was already back from the court hearing before she met him.
“ oh it was cancelled”

“ yes, got a letter from the court that Mr Donald was ill so he can’t make it”
“ill, seriously” she wondered how an ill person will be in his office and he didn’t look ill to her.
“ yea, I was already celebrating about it but got another letter just when I was about to leave the office that its rescheduled in a week time”
Nadia snorted, “ so he really was serious about the one week thing” she said to herself but was loud enough for her parents to hear,
“ who was serious about a one week thing” Mr Williams asked confusedly
Nadia stared at her father with a surprise look

“ you said something honey, what is it”
“ ohh its nothing” she averted her eyes always from her father, Mr Williams knows her so well, he knows when she is trying to hide something,

Nadia knew she can’t hide a thing when it comes to her father, and she can’t lie either as she hate lying to her parent,
“ well, I went to see Mr Donald today, at his office”
Elena raised her eyebrows in surprise, Mr William on his part was emotionless, he just couldn’t know how to react to this, he knows what ever reason that made her to comfort him was good but still if she did the right thing by going was what can’t tell.
Nadia looked at her parents, none were saying anything or scolding her,
“I wanted to help, I mean this involves me”
“ are you out of your mind, I mean why will you do that, and you didn’t inform anyone before doing such, what if something bad has happened to you”
“ what will possibly happen to me in an office”
“ Mr Donald is a casanova, everyone knows that” Elena snapped at her
“ what happen when you went there” Mr Williams asked calmly
“ he refuse to oblige to my request when I ask for him to give you more time, instead he gave me a week to make a decision to marry him or not”
Mr Williams sighed heavily while Elena snorted angrily
“ Nadia I know you want to help in every way but you have to understand that Mr Donald isn’t just any business man, you of all people should know how we business men don’t joke with our incomes, he won’t sept down, not for anything”
“ then what do we do, I just can’t marry that hypocrite”
“ I know and am not saying you will, just leave it to us and face your education , I and your mother will find a way out”
“ no dad, I am involved in this same way you both are, this is about my life and I won’t just relax as if nothing is happening”
“ why don’t you just listen to your father” Elena spoke calmly this time,
“dad please let me help, I want to be able to do something, anything, please don’t ask me pretend all is well, please”
Mr William just don’t know what to say anymore, Nadia was right, this was about her and he knows she will have her way anyway.
ETHAN’S RESIDENT
“ can you imaging that little brat, how dare she”
Ethan was in his house with Jack, it was a weekend and Jack decided to come pay him a visit, he has filled Jack in on everything that happen between him and Nadia at his office,
“ relax men, I don’t see any reason why you should be angry”
“ she refused me, who refuse me”
“ there is always a first, and beside she will be your wife soon so……”
“ oh my God” Ethan interrupted him, “ aren’t you listing to all I have been saying, she refused to marry me”
“ I know, but she refused now, she might accept tomorrow”
“ like seriously, are you really telling me that”

Just then Ethan phone started ringing, he picked it up from the glass table at the center of the sitting room but was disappointed to see the caller, he ignored the call placing the phone just beside him

Jack smiled, “ your lovely Nani” he said sarcasm

The call ended but started ringing again
“ just pick the call, you have been ignoring her since she came back, she called me you know”
“and a sensible person will know I and ignoring her but she is too stupid to know”
“ or she is just pretending not to see it” Jack concluded
“ I wonder why she can’t just f-----g leave me alone”
Jack burst into laughter, Ethan wondered why he was laughing as nothing was funny about what he said.
“ come one men, you screw her perfectly in bed, now tell me why she will f-----g let you alone” he said sarcastically
This cause Ethan to snorted angrily that brought another round laughter from jack,

Jackjust can’t stop laughing and this was annoying Ethan and he knew Jack was doing that to piss him off

Jack is right, Senator Philip was the only man on earth that Ethan fears, Senator Philip was the best friend to his grandfather, and he was the one that helped him to stand on his feet when his grandfather died, so he owns him so much, that’s why he won’t think of doing something bad to any of his family members because they are family to him
“God it was only once, and I was drunk, if her father gets to know about that, am dead”

AFAMEFUNA POV
It has been two months since I and Amarachi found each other and I must say things has been going on well for the both of us, I wanted to get ourselves a new apartment to stay but Victor and Amarachi convinced me otherwise telling me to go complete my education that I planned all along but that was my old plans and I don’t need that plan anymore because I got a new one which is to get a solid job here in the city, get married to Amarachi and start my own family, well about staying in Lagos that will be if we decide to live in Nigeria, I have already given up my crown as the Prince, I will rather be just a nobody than be with someone that I won’t find the happiness I want which I have found in Amarachi, I haven’t heard from my parents ever since I came to lagos, I knew they have been trying to look for me in their own way because I think they know better than to force me to return, since I have found my love back I prefer to keep them away from my life, yes that was how much I was angry with them and don’t think I would forgive them that easily.
Amarachi has been coping well with the new changes between us, she seem fine to me and I knew she loves me just the way I do, okey maybe I love her more than the way she does but the most important thing was that we were working on ourselves trying to understand more about us and we were doing great with it, Amarachi was one in a million, she is a good cook, neat and tidy, hardworking and intelligent, I planned on enrolling her into any university of her choice.
Everything was going well until one afternoon when Victor came back from work looking all worried, I was in the sitting room watching a movie The flash season 4 episode 5 that film I love so much, Amarachi was in the kitchen preparing lunch, I was alerted immediately he walked into the sitting.
AFAMEFUNA: hey men, what’s up with you, you are home early.
VICTOR: Afamefuna there is a problem.

I have never in my life felt more peaceful, ever since I met Afamefuna it has been joy and happiness for me, he has done nothing but shower me with love and affection and I wouldn’t ask for more, things has been going well as we have been making plans for our future which Afamefuna thought his parents won’t be in it, though I am not happy with it but what can I do, they rather have my head then let me be with Afamefuna but since both of us has come this long way even I losing my mother at the process I was ready to do anything that I will to stay by his side, call me stupid but it was the truth that is how much I love him, Afamefuna is sweet, gentle and lovely and I am ready to fight for what we share as long as he is beside me.
I was in the kitchen preparing lunch murmuring on a gospel song when I started hearing voices from the sitting room, first I thought it was the movie Afamefuna was watching but the voices was just too familiar, listening closer I recognize the voices and its belongs to Victor and Afamefuna, I wasn’t hearing what they were saying so I decided to go to the sitting room but the moment I entered the sitting room just like they were expecting me both stopped talking, this surprised me a lot as I look from Afamefuna to Victor, both were keeping a straight face not even a smile and I knew the conversation they were having wasn’t a good one.
AMARACHI: is anything the matter.
VICTOR: you need to think about it and she needs to know too.
With this he walked away heading to his room, I stared at Afamefuna still confused.

I know Afamefuna has always been this stubborn, how can he be like this after hearing what I told him, after my father gave me that call that morning I couldn’t be myself, so I did the only thing that was best to do by comforting Afamefuna only to be disappointed by his response and asking me to keep it away from Amarachi and pretend I heard nothing was something I couldn’t do, Amarachi has came out to see us arguing, don’t know if she heard our conversation but doubt that because with the way confusion was written all over her face shows other wise but I knew the little message I dropped before I leave will make her to understand or want to understand but it was not in my shoe to say anything so Afamefuna needs to do his job, I opened the door to my room and fell on the bed, needed to rest my troubled heart, didn’t want to visit the hospital soon.

it was now in the night, victor later went out that evening so he didn’t join us for dinner, Afamefuna has been acting weird since the discussion with Victor, I haven’t asked him yet hoping he will tell me but he hasn’t said anything yet, we finished having our dinner and retired to our room, I and Afamefuna don’t share same room but sometimes sleep in each other room, I either come in his room or he will come to mine when ever we want to be in each other arms at night, we have no sexual relationship as we have agreed we will wait still we marry that I don’t even know when it will be, the thought of marriage sometime get me scared as I have heard about a lot of marriage that ended roughly but I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Afamefuna so I had to put my fears aside.
I rested my head at Afamefuna chest as we rest on the bed as he caresses my hair, I always love it when he does that, we have been talking about different things that has been sending us laughing, the event of that day between Victor and him came to my mind so I decided to ask him since he was in a good mood.
AMARACHI: I wanted to ask you something.
AFAMEFUNA: what my queen.
AMARACHI: its about today afternoon between you and Victor, what was that all about.
He went silent, I waited for an answer but got nothing, I raised my head from his cheat and turned to look at him.

He said forcing out a smile which I immediately knew he was trying to hide something.

I matched to the room I gave to Amarachi I needed to talk to her, she might be angry with Afamefuna as he had said, maybe for the things she has gone through but even at that she should understand that both of them were in the same pain, I gently knocked on the door, she ushered me in, I took a deep breath and opened the door.
AMARACHI: please come in.
VICTOR: Thanks.
I entered and close the door behind me, she was sitting on the bed, she has changed her clothes that showed maybe she took her bath.
VICTOR: sorry for disturbing you.
AMARACHI: no you are not, I have not have the time to thank you for everything you did and still doing for me.
VICTOR: you don’t need to mention, I can do a lot of things for my friend Afamefuna.
She lower her head, I have noticed she is fond of doing that, I took few step close to her.
VICTOR: you know when I saw you I knew I have met you somewhere, it took me some time to remember exactly the place, do you know where.

VICTOR: Afamefuna was going crazy after coming back from the village and was told you were almost killed if not for Nnamdi that rescued you and sent you here to Lagos, we had search for you in every motor park we could think of around Lagos but yet nothing, then I haven’t met you or seen you just the wonderful words told by Afamefuna about you and I concluded you were someone to waste my time in searching for.
I looked at her, she was listening.
VICTOR: we had looked for you for almost two days until we decided to use the police, that was when I saw this pic.
I opened my phone and gave it to her, she took it from me looking at the picture before her, a smile appeared on her face.
VICTOR: that was the only pic he has of you and he cherish it with his life, look I know you been through a lot for this passed weeks and you have lost somuch too but believe me, Afamefuna has not felt better knowing you were out there all by yourself, he punished himself day and night blaming himself for everything you went through.
I saw tear in her eyes.
VICTOR: Afamefuna loves you, he can go any length to make you happy, I know that he can’t bring your mother back but he doesn’t deserve this, he is a victim just like you, after everything both of you have passed through you both are finally here will you allow your past to judge your future, he is your future and you are his, after everything there is no doubt both of you are met to be, I know you are angry with him but will you throw away this feeling because of some anger you are feeling towards him, do you want to let those people that put both of you in this path win.
AMARACHI: it hurts, my mother was all I had.

I was standing in front of Afamefuna door, Victor words really got to me, I had just realized I had been selfish thinking I was the only one suffering, I now felt guilty for behaving so self centered, hearing he has been searching for me non stop was unbelievable, never knew he cared for me that much, who could have thought he had a picture of me that alone was sweet, I knocked at the door twice and got no response, I was now scared hope he hasn’t harm himself.
AMARACHI: my prince, it’s me Amarachi.
I said giving out a loud breath, just like magic the door opened and Afamefuna face came to view, his eyes were reddish indicating a lot of crying had been done.

He didn’t say a word but opened the door widely for me to enter which I did, the smell of alcohol got my breath, Victor was so right, the room was a little dark because it was dark already and the light in the room was coming from the bathroom light because the door was not locked.

Richard is seen walking hurriedly to Ethan office with his note pad on his hand, he gently opened the door and went inside, Ethan is seen at his office desk working on his laptop at usual, he shifted his eyes away from the laptop to Richard as soon as Richard entered the office.
“ sir the investors from Germany just called that they are in Nigeria and would love to hold a meeting with you today”
“what………, I thought they are to arrive tomorrow” he asked in bewilderment
“ yes sir the appointment was for tomorrow, but they changed their mind”
“and you are just telling me this now” he barked at him
Richard flinched at the sound of his voice “sir, they just called now to inform me of the change”
Ethan snorted angrily, he hates not being prepared for something, he so wish to refuse them but he was a business man after all.
“ what appointment do I have today” he asked a bit calm
“ you have an appointment with the court by 2pm”
“ what time are they coming”
“ by 1:30pm”
Ethan looked at his wrist watch, the time says 12:43pm, he signed heavily
“call my lawyer, tell him to cancel the court hearing today, I will let him know when I will be free for that”
“ okey sir. But what excuse should I give sir”

Nadia drove into the building of Cloudworld technology worldwide and in no time she parked her car in the parking lot, stepping down from the car she made her way to the reception hall, she was amazed of the well designed hall, the building alone was seven times bigger than her father building, the reception hall was just like her sitting room, wide and beautifully decorated, she made her way to the reception desk, there were three female receptionists attending to guest, she made her way to the one that was free as the rest were attending to people, the female receptionist smiled at her as she approached, Nadia returned the smile.
“ good day ma’am, welcome to Cloudworld technology, how may we be of help” said the receptionist with a smile still on her face.
“ good day to you too, please am here to see Mr Ethan Donald, is he in” She politely asked

The reception stared at her, she thought Nadia was one of those street girls that comes here often in search of Mr Donald only to be thrown out by the security, so she decided to treat her like one.

There was no point lying she smiled nodding in agreement
“ I was told you want to see Mr Donald”
“ yes, but I am not with any appointment, I have to take one before I will be allowed to see him”
“ and the appointment has to be approved, if disapprove sorry”
“ yeah “ she wrapped her arms together, she doesn’t know but it was really awkward at that moment, why was this guy talking with her, she thought, maybe he is hitting on her but she was one that don’t jump into conclusion.
“ forgive my manners, I am Richard “ he said this extending his hand for an handshake, Nadia took his hands smiling
“ am the personal assistant to Mr Donald”
Nadia looked at him with surprise, God is really great, just when she has given up hope, God did his wonderful work.
“ I can take you to him, that’s if you want”
She was taking aback by what she heard

“ I said I can take you to Mr Donald, he will be pleased to see you”

ETHAN’S RESIDENT
He opened his eyes to the sound of his ringing phone, his eyes caught the alarm clock that was just placed on the nightstand, the time says 4:26am, “what the hall” he cursed under his breath, he rolled to the other side of the bed where the phone was ringing, picking it up from the night stand he gaze at the number that was showing on his phone screen, it was an unknown number, he wonder who would be calling his line at this hour, the caller wasn’t a business associate because his business line was a different one.
Ethan has three different phones for different purposes, one is for his business associates, the second was for close friends and family that has quite a few numbers since he doesn’t keep friends and family close, the other one was for numbers that isn’t in the group of neither his friends, family or business, let just say unimportant numbers and that was the particular phone that was ringing which anger him because now he just have two hours to sleep before getting ready for work.
He didn’t sleep early as he had some office work he brought home, no wonder his friend (Jack) calls him a work worm, he angrily pick the call placing it on him ear “ who is this” he asked rudely, Ethan doesn’t believe in staying silence to an unknown number until the person in the other ends speaks, Jack has cautioned him about it but he care less about it.
“hello handsome” a lady voice was heard on the other end of the phone.
The voice sounded familiar but he just doesn’t have that time to think of any similarity,
“ who ever you are, you have one second to introduce yourself and the reason for you calling at this hour, and it better be important”
“ you never change do you, always this rude, and that’s one thing that I like about you, so in control “ she said ignoring his angry tone.
There was only one person that has always told his that, immediately he knew who was speaking with him,
“ Nina” he asked nonchalantly

“ well I misplaced my phone, no, it was stolen from me so I bought a new one, now guess what, I am back in Nigeria, so I decided to give you a call, I have missed you so much, I got you lots of wonderful presents and I know you will love them, I will come by your office later by noon, I know you miss me too, did you miss me” she said in one go
“ are you expecting me to answer that” he said tiredly
“no, because I know you miss me, so see you later”
“ I won’t be at the office, i have somewhere to go to and don’t know when I will be coming”
He really will be busy all day and doesn’t want any drama from the drama queen herself,
“really don’t worry then, we will see when you are free, now sleep well, love you” she blew him a kiss before ending the call, Ethan took the phone from his ear starring at it, “ I hate this girl” he murmured angrily dropping the phone back on the night stand, all that while Nina was screaming her lungs out, out of excitement, he has be snorting silently, he just can’t believe she was back into his peaceful life again, he leaned his face on his two palms and exhale heavily before laying back on the bed, the day was going to be a long day.

Nadia woke up with a smile on her face, she has missed her bed and home so much, she looked at the time that says 7:23, “ wow, can’t believe I slept that long”, Nadia was an early raiser, right from when she was little she was praised by her friends and teachers for her punctuality to school, she quickly got up from her bed and dressed the bed up, she washed her teeth the decided to take breakfast before taking her morning bath, she headed to the sitting room knowing that her father will be in the dinning having his breakfast since he also is an early raiser that’s why e never goes to work late, guess that’s where she go that from, her smile died down as she started hearing her parents arguing again with a low voice and it was going from the dinning, “who has breakfast and fight” she thought to herself, yesterday they made her believe that it was their personal issue, an issue that has to do with wife and husband, even when she knew they were lying she choose to believe them, now they are repeating the same thing again, this wasn’t just some wife and husband issue as they have claimed and she was determined to find out what it was.
Mr William has tried almost everything to persuade his wife in telling their daughter, Nadia what was happening but Elena was still adamant on her decision, he knew his daughter was a clever girl and she didn’t bought what she was told yesterday, he had hope Nadia could persist a little more so his wife could have no choice but to open up, he was disappointed when Nadia didn’t, this morning in the dinner he brought the issue up again hoping this time his wife could listen but just as before she refused which started another argument,
They were trying so hard to keep their voice down because they knew Nadia could still be sleeping but their guess was wrong as the voice of Nadia made both to turn to the same direction.
“Mum, dad, you both better tell me what is going on right now, and please don’t tell me it between the both of you because I never bought the lies you both came up with yesterday” she said calmly
Elena and Mr William gazed at each other, they both were confused, they didn’t know what to say, Elena looked at her daughter trying to think of something but she knew her daughter will still see through another lies, the whole place was silent, they were all staring at each other, Elena exhale loudly knowing there was nothing to do but to tell her the truth “ Nadia, come sit, I and your father will tell you everything” Nadia looked at his father who nod in agreement to what his wife just said, with this Nadia move to a couch just close to her, Elena and Mr William joined her, each sitting on her opposite sides ( her left and right), she prepared herself to hear what they have to say, she just hope it’s nothing she couldn’t handle.
“this can not be happening” Nadia said springing up from the couch, Elena and Mr William has just finished telling her everything leaving no stone unturned, they both took turns in explaining everything to her, she was silent throughout, listening to every words they were saying, she was indeed shock to learn all the things they told her, but she has always being a person that is always compose no matter what she face, she should be angry but she just can’t bring herself to feel that way because she really don’t know how to get angry, guess God wanted her to be that way, but upset yes she is, hurt, yes she is, she is hurt that her parents would keep all this from her, she understands that they were trying to protect her in some way but she is old enough to make her own decision, she was upset that someone was doing this to her father though she doesn’t blame whoever he is, her father was at fault in all this.
“I have tried to reason with him but he won’t want to hear any of it “Mr William said seriously,
“ it will be difficult to reason with him dad, who wouldn’t be unreasonable in this situation, dad, you took this loan ten years ago and an agreement was made but you broke that agreement by not paying a single payment to them”
“ Nadia, you have no idea how it has been for the company this pasted years” Elena defended her husband calmly
“ mum I understand but it was better we had manage then to be in this mass now and the irony of it is that I am the one that will have to pay the debt”
“ I won’t allow that to happen, I know i was wrong but you have no business with what ever I did years ago, I will take care of this”
“ but dad…….”
Mr Williams stopped her from saying any more word by raising his hand,
“I will be going to court today, they sent a letter requesting for my presence, don’t worry, things will fall in place” he caressed her cheek softly, he hope and prays he was right, Nadia knew this was not something that will be easily solved, she understands everything that was going on but she just hope her father pull thing off, she was going to allow her father do his part because she has her own plans, she was going to meet that man that feels he can use the situation at hand to have her as his wife.

He started moving towards me, oh how my heart bounce as he got closer to me, I can now feel his breath, I lower my eyes away from his because I might lose myself if I look any longer but the next thing that follows melted my soul, he hugged me, I felt his warmness all over my body, I wanted to reciprocate the hug but I stopped myself.

This wasn’t happening, after everything that I have went through to get them together this is what I get, I hate seeing my friend this way, he has passed through a lot since Amarachi went missing and finding Amarachi became his only reason for living, he refused to return to the state or to the village without finding Amarachi but now things didn’t go the way I planned, I just want my friend to be happy because he deserves it and since Amarachi was his happiness then Amarachi he will get.

“so, how is it between you and Mr William, have you both resolve your problems” jack asked nonchalantly, the last time they talked about it was when they had met the other day after Ethan came back from Mr William office, they did lunch together to catch up on the times they were apart, Ethan told him everything excluding the part he requested for Nadia to be his wife.
“ the old man is playing hard to crack” Ethan said closing the file that he has been working on.
“ you always have your way to do that don’t you?”
“there is something I didn’t tell you the other day”
“ am listening” when ever Ethan said something like this he knows there is indeed a big fish he didn’t let out of the net.
“ I requested for his daughter hand in marriage”
Jack eyes grew wide in shock, he wasn’t expecting this, “ WHAT”
“ I mean what can be a good guarantee that he will pay the money if not his daughter”
“ what the hell”, Jack retorted, he can’t seem you get over the shock news he just heard
“ what, I needed my money and obviously he don’t have it” Ethan defended himself.
“ are you out of your mind, how do you expect him to give out his only daughter to you because of 45 billion dollars he is owning you”
“I can marry as many wives as I want with 45 billion dollars” Ethan fired back, he knew jack was going to react this way but he just can’t keep things from him.
“ are you still going for that lunch” he asked getting up, he wasn’t ready to have a fight his friend over the issue, so that was the only way to distract Jack.
Jack exhale heavily, knowing Ethan was trying to divert the topic, “ I can’t talk you out of this, can I?”

WILLIAM’S RESIDANT
“Mum am home” that was Nadia rushing towards her parents bedroom, the maid that has helped her with her luggage told her that her mother was in the bedroom so she hurried there, the door to the bedroom wasn’t locked, she turned the knob of the door and the door opened immediately the knob was turned and she went in, “mum”, Elena came out from the bathroom, she was fully dress so she couldn’t have been having a shower, Nadia thought, Elena was surprised at the same time also happy to see her daughter, they both hugged themselves as a mother and daughter could seeing eachother after a long time.
“O my beautiful daughter, I missed you so much” Elena said still on the embrace, “ I missed you more and you know it” they both release from the embrace. “ it been like 3 months right”
“precisely 2 months and two weeks”
“ you could have told us you were coming”
“ I know but it wouldn’t be a surprise if I did, I know dad is not at home”
“ no he is not, you must be hungry, come let me make something for you to eat while you tell me all about your trip” they both left the bedroom happily.
Nadia has taken a nap after eating a delicious delicacy prepared by her mother, she has missed her mother meal so much.
Nadia is a student in the university of Abuja studying marketing and management and she is one of the best student in both her class and school, She has managed to form a little organization in school that helps students and also those that need some business ideas through her blog that has gone worldwide, she is always invited to many presentations and press conferences as well, because of this she is always out of town but that does not affect her studies.
She has just came back from a press conference she attended in Dubai and she is so happy to be home, she barely comes home for weekends because of her busy schedule and her studies but she always finds time to visit when she could.
She picked up her phone that was just at the side of the bed as she sat up on the bed, she chatted with some of her friends for about fifteen minutes before deciding to go down stair, judging from the time her father might be home already, she headed to the sitting room but found no body there then she headed to her parents room, she was so excited to see her father and to tell him all the achievements she had achieved this passed months but her excitement died down when she got closer to her parents bedroom door, she heard two recognized voice talking more like arguing over something, the door was fully lock so it wasn’t difficult for her to hear their conversation, she stood close to the door, she hates enveloping on someone conversation but she just couldn’t stop herself from doing so.
“ I could suggest we tell her, she is no kid, since the situation has gotten to this” that was her father Mr William voice, “ so what are you going to say, that you can’t protect her, you are her father, we are her parents and we have a parental responsibility to preform and that is what we will do”
Nadia was trying to put the words she was hearing in together, she was sure about one thingthat whatever they are discussing is definitely about her and she could love to know, she then decided to show herself, she opened the door widely and entered, Mr William and Elena immediately stopped talking when she entered which she expected from them since they really don’t want her to know whatever that was going on.
“ dad, mom, is everything alright”

AMARACHI POV
As I step out of Big mama’s house the cold blew of the night blew passed my face, this sent some cold into me, I am still in shock of what just happened, how can she drive me out of her house, even with my pleading she didn’t even got moved by it, what was I to do, how was I to face the world again, where will I go from here, just when I thought things was working well for me that’s when life decided to show her other self to me, if only I knew where Samuel reside I could have gone there and I know he will help me out even for a night but now I have to spent the night outside this cold, God do save me from this please and just like God answered my prayer Victor, Big mama aunty nephew called me, I got to know his name when him and Big mama were having a conversation, I was already close to the gate when he called me, the time he followed me outside as he said he wants to see me off, I walked ahead of him lost in my own thought until he called my name from behind and I turned to see him close to his car, I knew it was his because it was the same car we rushed Uncle Joe with.
VICTOR: you should get into the car.
I looked at him surprised at what he said.
VICTOR: do you really think I will allow a young girl like you walk in this dark all by yourself, so get into the car let me look for somewhere you can spend the night.
I wanted to shout for joy but held myself, was he being serious, he will offer me where to sleep but yet I was still standing looking at him not sure if I was ready to follow a male stranger to only God knows where.
VICTOR: do you prefer sleeping out on the streets, if not you should get in.
He said this and entered the car, I immediately saw myself moving closer to the car, I opened the door and went in, I just hope and pray I am not making another mistake again.

We drove in silent for almost ten minutes, sometimes he could glazed at me from the corner of his eyes but I pretended not to notice, we got into a big gate that was opened and parked, I started wondering where we were because the place was fill with cars and a few people, the building was big and beautiful with decorated light all over, even the environment was neat that everywhere speaks class.
We came out of the car, that’s when I saw the name ROYAL HOTEL was written boldly on the building, just then I knew we were in an hotel and my fear aroused, I knew hotel is a place were a man and a woman meet, so why will he bring me here, I knew I shouldn’t have followed his, he seem to have seen my discomfort as I stood refusing to take another step.
VICTOR: what is it.
AMARACHI: this is an hotel.
VICTOR: yes, do you have a problem with that.
I looked at him with eyes wide open in confusion, I think he realize something as he dropped my bag he has been holding on the ground.
VICTOR: no no, it not what you are thinking, I brought you here because my house is not close by and there was no where else to take you or do you have a bad impression about hotels.
AMARACHI: hotels are for men and women that wants to make out.
He immediately burst into laughter, and I wondered what was funny.
VICTOR: and who told you that.
AMARACHI: I heard.
VICTOR: okey let me correct that, hotels are not just made for lovers or the opposite sex to make out, it also a place you rest away from your home, everyone can come here and spent even more than a week depending on how long you are staying in the city, so you better stop thinking that way.
I looked like a fool for not knowing these things, now he will look at me as a dull girl, he took my bag again and lead the way to the reception.
The receptionist attended to us and did the check in, in no time we were inside a small but comfortable room in the hotel.
VICTOR: okey there you go, this is where you will sleep this night, by tomorrow I will come by and if you need anything you should call the reception, that’s the telephone and that list there are all the name of the services in this hotel.
He said pointing at the bed side where a home telephone was placed and a paper was close to it.
VICTOR: do you know how to use it.
AMARACHI: no
I felt embarrassed as I lower my head to the floor.
VICTOR: let me show you.
He showed me how the telephone function and how to use it to make any calls but it can’t be use to call any number outside the hotel and also the list too that contains all type of food prepared in the hotel.
VICTOR: so if you are hungry do call okey and it will be delivered to you.
AMARACHI: alright.
VICTOR: I will be leaving now so you can rest.
AMARACHI: thank you.
VICTOR: you are welcome
He said this and turned to leave but stopped as he got to the door, he turned back at me starring into my eyes.
VICTOR: I want to ask, what village are you from.
I was surprise at the question, I don’t know why he asked but I was scared to tell him, I looked away no knowing what to do.
VICTOR: if you don’t want to tell me it’s alright.
I looked back at him, there were nothing dangerous about him, he had helped me without knowing me, so what make me think he will hurt me.
VICTOR: good night.
He said and opened the door.
AMARACHI: Amucha village, I am from Amucha village.
He turned facing me again this time with a warm smile on his face.
VICTOR: goodnight
He said and walked out of the room closing the door behind him.
I didn’t know why he asked but I was glad i made him smile before leaving, i quickly went inside the bathroom and had my shower i so much needed it, i rest on the bed thinking about the event of that day, where will I have been now if not for this young man Victor, now tomorrow was all I can worry about, I pray tomorrow favor me.

I just can’t stop smiling on my way home, I knew I have found Amarachi the lost love of Afamefuna and I wondered how he will react when he get this news, i tried calling Afamefuna but his number wasn’t going through so I decided to call him in the morning, just wanted to find more information about Amarachi from him and if he could send me the picture of Amarachi again just to be sure but in my heart I already knew I have found her.

AMARACHI POV
Morning came and then afternoon but yet Victor hasn’t come by, he did promise to come by, I was a little scared already, what if he has changed his mind about helping me what then will I do, I have eaten but my stomach still feels empty because of my worried mind, countless times I could look at the window to see if I could see his car but yet nothing, slowly the time got to five pm yet no sign of him I was growing impatient, what if the hotel management comes and throw me out that my payment has expired, what then will I do, I pray it just don’t come to that.
I felt a hand on my hand, I opened my eyes to see Victor smiling at me, I must have slept off, I looked at the time it was seven pm already, I didn’t bother to ask how he got inside because he had the key and left it at the reception before leaving yesterday, I quickly sat up.
VICTOR: you must have been waiting for me so sorry, I had to stay with Aunty B, Joe is fine now will be discharged tomorrow, he lied though that he fall on his own, that man.
AMARACHI: oh, thank God he is fine.
VICTOR: yea, so we will be leaving here now.
AMARACHI: to where.
VICTOR: I told I would help you, so that is what I am doing, so get dressed.
There was no reason for me to dress up again as I was already dressed, I took my bag and we left the hotel heading to somewhere I have no idea about.
We drove for about an hour, we talk a lot as he kept asking questions about myself, I told him everything that happened to me not leaving any stone unturned, he wasn’t surprised or shocked, he was so calm listening to my story, I don’t know but I felt save with him, same feeling I had with Prince Afamefuna.
We got to a black gate and the gate was opened by a man I later knew as Musa the gate man, he drove inside the compound, coming down from the car he helped me with my bag.
VICTOR: welcome home Amarachi.
I didn’t read any meaning to what he said, I followed him inside the sitting room, it was a well decorate place, neat and everything was in place.
VICTOR: don’t be scared okey, you just stay here I will be right back.
There was this excitement in his voice and I wondered why, he ran off inside the house, I started looking around amazed by the decorations in the wall.

I ran to Afamefuna room knowing he was there, I had called him that morning and he told me everything I needed to know even sending me the picture and luckily it was the same girl, I was so happy but decided not to let him know, I made him promise not to stay out last in the night as he normally does sometimes, I further asked Amarachi some more questions and everything added up, this no doubt is the lost love of Afamefuna and I knew I had made my friend smile again.
I opened his door without knocking, I composed myself won’t want to give myself out, he was on his bed reading a magazine.
VICTOR: hey man, whats up.
He dropped the magazine and sat up.
AFAMEFUNA: am cool, how was your journey.
VICTOR: it was prefect, though a little set back but it was fine.
AFAMEFUNA: good, you call asking for Amarachi photograph that you want to use it to look for her there, any progress.
VICTOR: no for now but i left it with my Aunty, she will let me know when she finds her.
I could see the disappointed in his face but not for long.
VICTOR: but I want you to meet someone.
AFAMEFUNA: please, am not in the mood.
VICTOR: this one you have to and I wont take no for an answer.

Victor had call me that morning to ask for Amarachi photograph and also some details I have told him before about her, something seems off but I didn’t think about it too much and now coming back he was behaving some how and I really don’t know the reason why, I didn’t want to fight with him so I followed him to meet his guest, he was a little excited today or was it Becky, I haven’t seen Becky his fiancee since I came to live with him, he told me she traveled to London for a law firm course maybe she is back and he is all excited about it, well let me meet the almighty Becky but as I got to the sitting room I felt a cold wind and weakness all over me as I stared into the eyes of someone I never thought I will see again, I wouldn’t get my eyes of her or even move, she looked at me too and there was confusion in those her beautiful eyes, we were unable to move as we stare at each other.

AMARACHI POV
I was shaking as i watched the young man drive in speed, he looks worried that I wonder who he is to uncle Joe, God save me I said to myself, I was so shocked to see uncle Joe on the floor with blood coming out from his head, he had hit his head on the wooden bed when I pushed him, I didn’t know what to do now, if anything happens to him how will I explain myself, who will even believe me that he tried to rape me, God what have I gotten myself into, I knew the young man was keeping me close to him when he told me to follow him to the hospital and I pray he hasn’t concluded any story in his mind.
We got to the hospital and uncle Joe was immediately rushed into the hospital by the nurse and they commence treatment after the young man paid some deposit, I was waiting in the reception lost in my own thought, I knew I needed a miracle that minutes, I so prayed uncle Joe don’t die, the young man came out ending a phone call he was making, his face was emotionless making it hard to know what he might be thinking.
VICTOR: I have just called my Aunty, wife to Joe and she is on her way here, so you better start talking before she gets here, what happened.
I stared at him not knowing where to began.

Her face looked so familiar that I have been thinking where I have met her before right from when I met her in the house, but yet I can’t seen to place where I might have seen her, she looks confused and scared and I have been meaning to ask her what happened, I don’t know but I felt relax around her, I know nothing will happen to uncle Joe don’t know how but I knew he will be fine, I called my Aunty to tell her what happened and gave her the name of the hospital and I know by now she will be on her way, so I had to know what happened before she gets here because if Joe wakes up I know he will make a perfect story that will work for him, with the way she was running when I met her and her behavior I knew something was up and I wants to find out.
VICTOR: you have to tell me.
She was looking confused that I can tell, I sat down close to her so she can feel a little comfortable with me.
VICTOR: my name is victor and am the nephew to your boss, I know you are scared but you don’t have to, I don’t like Joe he is only married to my Aunty, so I won’t react on any thing you tell me, I know something happened, I just want know what.
AMARACHI: it …. was a mistake.
With this she burst into tear, I think she has been holding it for a while.
VICTOR: I know, I know, but you have to tell me.
AMARACHI: he tried to rape me, I was only trying to defend myself, I pushed him but I didn’t know he hits his head, I swear I didn’t know, Big mama sent me to wash the meat she bought, after I finished I was about leaving when uncle Joe sent me to take his brief case to his room, I did but he came and close the door telling me to sleep with him, but I refused that when he tried to force himself on me, please I didn’t do anything, I swear.
I don’t know but I believed her, maybe because of her innocent face or because her words were sincere but I just believed, who wouldn’t if they know the kind of person Joe is towards women, but if she is saying the truth then that means Joe will want to get back at her by telling a different story that will put her in trouble.
VICTOR: it’s okey, I believe you.
I could see the shock in her face.

This increase her cry, I didn’t want to cause her more pain but she has to get prepare for what will happen.

Was my ear deceiving me, that is the same name of the girl Afamefuna has been looking for, yes it might be her, maybe that’s why she looked so familiar, was this really her or someone baring the same name.

It was late in the night now, my Aunty, Amarachi and I are in the sitting room, back in the hospital I was about to ask Amarachi more questions when my Aunty ran inside the reception, she was so worried and I feared she might break down if anything happens to Joe, yes my Aunty loves him so much, I succeeded in calming her down, she so wanted to know what happened but had to keep that part away from her first, the doctor later came out informing us that Joe was fine there was no major damage but he was resting now and won’t want disturbance and i thanked God for this because it will give me time to talk to my Aunty, we were allowed to see him, I and my Aunty went to his ward while Amarachi waited in the reception, he was sleeping when we saw him, my Aunty was about to start crying that she has been doing since she came to the hospital but I remained her of what the doctor said so she held herself back.
Amarachi has told her everything that happened as soon as we got home, she was sitting directly opposite Amarachi who was sitting, while I was sitting at the other end close to the door.
BIG MAMA: you mean my husband asked you to sleep with him and when you refused he tried to force you.
AMARACHI: yes ma’am.
I know Amarachi was scared that I understand but I don’t understand the behaviour of my Aunty, she was a bit calm in this kind of situation, I was expecting more from her, like apologizing to the young girl or something.
BIG MAMA: Joe, Joe.
I didn’t know what to tell her because I really don’t know what to say to her, she was emotionless , I looked at Amarachi and the thought of her being the girl Afamefuna was looking for came to my mind, if really she is which I think she is, Afamefuna will be so happy to see her, I turned my attention to my Aunty, she opened her bag and brought out some amount of money giving it to Amarachi who looked at the money in confusion.
BIG MAMA: go on take it.
Amarachi looked at me then back to the money, she later took it from my Aunty.
BIG MAMA : Amarachi that is 30 thousand naira, you will use that money to take care of yourself, I believe everything you said that is why you cannot live with me again, so go upstairs to your room, pack all your belongings and leave my house.
I was shocked to hear my Aunty say that, I stood up to see if that word came out from her mouth, immediately Amarachi broke down in tear going down on her knee.
AMARACHI: Aunty please, please, I don’t have anywhere to go, please, I beg you.
BIG MAMA: I know you don’t have any where to go that’s why I gave you that money so you can use it to set up yourself, Amarachi you are a good girl but you staying here is not a good idea, so you have to leave.
VICTOR: Aunty, are you being serious.
BIG MAMA: Victor, please stay out of this, Amarachi I want you to leave quietly or I will be force to call the police, telling them you tried to kill my husband and you know what that means.
I was short of words, how can my Aunty say that, Amarachi was still begging but my Aunty mind was already made up and I know that once her mind was made up then nothing will chance it well except Joe.
VICTOR: Amarachi, just do as she says, go pack your things, it better than staying in the police station.
After some time, Amarachi got up and left to her room.
VICTOR: are you sure this is the right thing to do, sending her out at this time of the night, it pass eight already, Aunty B I still don’t understand you, suffering a girl for the crime your husband did, he should be the one lock up right now for trying to rape someone and you are here putting the blame on her.
BIG MAMA: and you think I don’t know that.
She said standing up.
BIG MAMA: I am trying to save my marriage.
VICTOR: yea you are really doing a good job.
BIG MAMA: look, Joe now has eye on her do you know what that means.
VICTOR: sorry to say this but your husband is a bog, he will always have eyes for every lady that passes his way.
BIG MAMA: at least it better then sleeping with my worker.
Just than Amarachi came back with her bag on her hand still crying.

She said sitting down.

Not up to two hours, barr John was seated in Mr William office going through all the documents containing the agreement between Mr William and late Donald, there was silence in the office as both were lost in what ever they were doing, Mr William was waiting patiently for his lawyer to tell him the next step to take as it has involved the court, after going through the documents for about ten minute Barr. John finally dropped the document on the table exhaling heavily,
“I won’t lie to you, this isn’t going to be easy my friend”,
Mr William has known barr. John since their university of days, they are more than friends so he understands when barr. John says something like that then he will never disagree to it.
“ so what can we do”
“ there is absolutely nothing we can do, one, the money is huge, two, you couldn’t meet up with the agreement of paying the sum of 2 million every month, you haven’t paid even for once and it has been ten years, what do you think the court will say” Barr. John Stared at Mr Williams waiting for an answer but yet no answer came as Mr William had nothing to say.
“Has he made any demands or given you any conditions or he just want you to pay back immediately” barr. John asked, he needed to know so he can find a way out but never expected what he heard,
“ he want to marry my daughter”
“ excuse me, come again”
“he want Nadia hands in marriage”
there was silent as Barr. John didn’t know what to say, Nadia was like a daughter to him, he was there when she was born so he understood the feeling of giving out such a wonderful girl to someone like Ethan, he knows Ethan and his behavior, he had come around cases that involves him and all didn’t end well, so he doubt if this will end well too, Mr Ethan Donald always gets what he wants.
“and you can’t do that”
“of course not, Nadia is my baby girl, I can’t give her out to that monster, he isn’t human, Nadia is too sweet to live with someone like that and you know it”
“I understand you, but do you have any idea who Mr Ethan Donald is” he pulse to observe Mr Williams “I have had cases with Mr Ethan Donald and believe me when I say he always wins, he has the best lawyers you can ever think of, he is a master planer, look am not trying to discourage you from fighting for what you believe is right for your daughter but you can’t win this”
“What chances do I have” Mr William asked not listening to what Barr. John was saying he just can’t accept defeat not when it involves his daughter.
Barr. John exhale loudly knowing his friend will not want to listen,

“yes he did and he gave me in person, we have seen and discussed too”
“let me have the letter” Mr William quickly got out and brought the letter from the shelf that is very close to him and handed it to Barr. John before sitting down, Barr. John opened it and went through it.
“ well, he did give you a warning letter”
he said droping the letter on the office desk,
“ the court sent you a claim form and a response pack, I have gone through the claim form which you have also, since you agree that you owe all the money shown in the claim form, you have to fill in the admission form in the response pack. The form asks for details of your financial situation” Barr. John stopped to see if he was following, Mr William signal him to continue by nodding his head.

I stared at Uncle Joe who has been talking non stop for the pass ten minutes trying to convince me to sleep with me, promising me almost everything thing he has but I am no fool, even if I was dying and starving I won’t dare to betray a woman that has been nice to me ever since i started working for her, I stared at him in disgust, how can a well behave and nice woman end up with this kind of a man.
UNCLE JOE: see no one will find out I promise you, you will not be disappointed, don’t look at my age ooo, I can satisfy you in bed just as those small boys can.
AMARACHI: please uncle Joe, let me pass, I don’t want any of those things, I just want to go back to the restaurant, Aunty will be waiting for me now and angry that I took so much time.
UNCLE JOE: don’t worry about that, you can tell her that i asked you to do something for me.
AMARACHI: still I want to go.
UNCLE JOE: what is even wrong with you, I have been begging you to allow me just once but you are here claiming stubborn.

He still pounced on me again, this time he succeeded in pushing me on the bed, but as he wanted to come on me I used my leg to push him backward, this caused him to fall to the floor, I quickly got up intending to run out of the room but he held my hand before I could get to the door, with all my strength I turned and pushed him away running out of the room but stopped just before the stair as I came face to face with a young man.

VICTOR POV
I arrived at my Aunty’s house, I came down from my car that I parked just in front of the gate, I rang the bell of the gate and even knocked on the gate but got no response, I putted my hand on the small hole made on the gate to see if the lock was locked and luckily for me it wasn’t, I opened it and went inside, after opening the big gate I drove in and locked it again, I saw my Aunt’s husband car parked, thought he hasn’t come back from work, what do I care, I walked into the house and was visited by silent, I already knew the way to the guest room so I carried my bag along with me headed to the guest room, I have got to the middle of the stair when I heard a scream, I quickly started to ascending the stair only to come face to face with a young beautiful girl, she also stopped as she saw me and I could see fear in her eyes as she was breathing so loudly.
VICTOR: are you okay.
AMARACHI: no…yes…I hmmmm.
She was stammering and I wondered why.
VICTOR: calm down.
I dropped my bag, and walk close to her, that was when I remembered that I heard a scream and the voice wasn’t that of a lady and this made me suspicion.
VICTOR : where is Joe, I saw his car outside so he is at home.
AMARACHI: he is in hmmmm inside the room.
There was something off with her but I don’t know what it is but she was not herself that I know.
VICTOR: go show me.
She quickly turned leading the way, I knew the way to the bedroom but I wanted her to show me, the door was opened and it was unlike Joe to leave the bedroom door open.
AMARACHI: he is inside.
VICTOR: okey, after you.
She entered but immediately stopped, using her hand to cover her mouth, I walked passed her to see the reason why she stopped only to see Joe on the ground in the pool of his own blood coming from his head, he must have hit his head in the wooden part of the bed.
VICTOR: Joe
I quickly ran to his side checking his pulse.
His pulse was still there so he was alive, I thanked God in my mind for this.
AMARACHI: I …didn’t…no..
She was stammering again but this time I ignored her, my first priority was to save his life then she will explain how this happened, I know I didn’t like him but that doesn’t mean he needed to die in this way.
VICTOR: are you just going to stand there saying rubbish or you are going to help me take him to the hospital.
She quickly moved to my side and together we took him to my car, she opened the gate as I drove out.
VICTOR: you are coming with me to the hospital, so get in.
She lock the gate and joined me in the car, I needed her close to me because she alone knows what happened to Joe, this is Lagos so I won’t want her out of my sights.

The door to his office suddenly fling open and Mr Jonathan his father walked towards him in anger, he couldn’t remember when last his father came to his office and today that he decided to come he wasn’t looking happy not that it concerns him, Mr Jonathan hit his hand on the desk,
“ what is wrong with you Ethan, are you out of your mind”,
Ethan looked up to him for few seconds before going back to the document he was writing on,
It was the next day after the visit to Mr William office and he’s already getting a visit from his father,
“ what do you want dad”, he asked unconcernedly without him looking up,
“ how could you do this”
“ how could you ask a man to hand over his daughter’s hand in marriage because of a debt he is to pay, for real Ethan”,
Ethan closed the file, putting his focus on his father,
“ so he ran to you, interesting”
“ there is nothing interesting about this, Ethan this is improper and absurd, grandfather taught you better than this” he said more calmly this time.
“ how will you know what I was taught by grandfather when you wasn’t there, if I remember correctly, you were with your s--t” Ethan said irritatingly, he so not wish to get angry today,
“ stop calling her a s--t, she is my wife and your step mother”
“ your wife you said not mine and step mother not mother, at least there is something we both understand, and as regarding my decision to marry Mr William daughter, you should be happy am getting married, which means you will soon have a daughter in-law “ he snorted,
“ Ethan I know what you are trying to do, and I will say it’s wrong, why will she be the one to pay for it”
“ what are you thinking dad, that I am just doing this for fun, 0h come on, no dad, am getting married to her, and if you are here to talk me out of it, it good you should know that am not stepping down, of coruse if they are able to come up with my money then yes I will call it off, am simply a business man father, this is just business”
“ then let me pay back the money”
Ethan stared at his father, his blood boiled with anger in hearing those words from his father, he got up from his seat and took few steps towards his father, putting both hands in his pocket, he was trying to calm himself down, he wouldn’t want his anger to get the better part of him though he is bad at controlling his anger
“and with which money?, don’t you realize that paying me is equally the same thing I paying myself, its still with my money”.
Mr Jonathan was taken aback by his statement, “ you are my father which means that your company is legitimately mine, and don’t you forget that half of the company is already mine, how did the story go, my mother and you got married and she decided to join her company with yours, So when she died she willed her company to who, me.” He said pointing at himself, “ but I was young so I agreed that you run the company on my behalf, which means that both companies are mine, so don’t push your luck father, I wonder what will happen if that company is divided, and I heard mum’s stock is more higher than everyone’s there” he said with a threatening tone.
Mr Jonathan was speechless at to what Ethan, “ so are we done here” Ethan asked
“ Ethan this isn’t right, and you know it”
“ you are not in the position to advise me” he turned back to his seat, “ this conversation is over” he sat down resting both hands on the desk “ you can see yourself out”
with this he continued with his work on the file. Mr Jonathan wish he could reach out to his son, but he knew the connection between them has long been destroyed, he just thought coming to talk to him might make him to reconsider his decision, he felt for Nadia as she was a good and a nice young lady who can’t cope with his son, his thoughts is Ethan might stood her up on the wedding day to bring humiliation to Mr William, he just hope his thought is wrong, Ethan was going to marry her and he knew it’s going to be hell for her as his son Ethan knows nothing about love or feelings.
After standing there for some few minutes he turn to leave without saying anymore thing, just as he was about to walk out the door, the voice of Ethan stopped him, “ and thanks for passing by” Ethan said, Mr Jonathan ignores this and left the office.
MR WILLIAM OFFICE
“ sir” Mr Edwards walked into Mr William office holding an envelope on his right hand, Mr William looked up at him, “ what is it” he asked almost immediately he heard his calls, “ sir this arrived not long ago” he said extending it to Mr William who took it from him, “ its from the court “ Mr Edwards completed his statement that made Mr William stopped for a while as he stares at Mr Edwards, Mr William already knew who it was from.
Today makes it the fourth day since Ethan came to his office and the last day that was given to him, he has been trying to get the loan from different places but none was working out, when he called Mr Jonathan and asked for his help, he thought he could be able to talk his son out of it but it didn’t work as planned, his wife has been crying non stop since then and he doesn’t know what to do. He opened the envelope and began to read the content of the letter, it was indeed a court request, he has to come to the court tomorrow by noon, he sign heavily, “ call my lawyer, tell him to meet me now, it’s urgent”
“ yes sir” Mr Edward immediately left to carry out what he was told.

I hate seeing my friend Afamefuna in a bad state, since Afamefuna came to stay with me I have grown fond of him, he is like my brother now and he is a very humble guy judging from his background, he is always a cheerful guy but ever since the disappearance of Amarachi, a girl he saw and fall in love with he has not been himself, even without me knowing who she is i know she much be an angel to make Afamefuna a prince of a great kingdom fall in love and I pray she is alive somewhere and healthy, I am on my way to see my Aunty, haven’t seen her for a long time now, all her children are all living outside Lagos and being my favorite Aunt I always try to go see her mostly when she is married to that fool of an husband, well I hate the guy, he is rich but also stupid and an womanizer, I wonder what my aunty was doing with him, anyway it her choice and am going to stand by her.
I told Afamefuna to go with me but he just couldn’t give himself a free time, I pray he finds peace.

AMARACHI POV
I quickly ran out to answer my boss calls, she was sitted outside the restaurant far from the costormers, she hates it when she calls you more than two times.
AMARACHI: yes ma’am you called me.
BIG MAMA: yes I did, I want you to take that meat.
Pointing at a black bag that is placed on the floor.
BIG MAMA: take it home and put it in the fridge, make sure you wash them before putting it in the fridge ok, and place some apart so i can use it to cook this evening when I get home.
AMARACHI: ok ma’am.
BIG MAMA: don’t go and sleep there ooo.
AMARACHI: I won’t ma’am.
BIG MAMA: ok be first.
I took the bag and left immediately but not without taking the key of the house, Big Mama’s house was just some block away, so I didn’t need to take any transport, I opened the big black gate and entered the building, there was no gateman because the last one traveled to his village and didn’t return, no body heard from him again, the house was a two storey building, I walked inside the house and got busy, my boss husband wasn’t at home and I was happy about it, I started with my work that in less than few minutes I was done, I cleaned the kitchen and prepared to return to the restaurant.
As soon as I went into the sitting room I saw my boss husband, uncle Joe entering too from the front door, he was just coming back from work I suppose.
AMARACHI: Good evening sir.
UNCLE JOE: Good evening, how are you.
AMARACHI: fine sir.
UNCLE JOE: you didn’t go to the store today.
AMARACHI: I did, ma’am sent me to do something at home, but am done now so I want to go back to the restaurant, she will be waiting for me.
UNCLE JOE: you mean my wife is not at home.
AMARACHI: no sir, I will be leaving now.
I wasn’t comfortable with the way he was looking at me, only God knows what was going on in his mind now, I was almost at the door when he called me.
UNCLE JOE: before you go help me to take this brief case to the bedroom.
AMARACHI: ok sir.
I took the brief case from him and head to his room, I didn’t suspect anything as it wasn’t the first time I was taking his brief case from him or the first time of me entering their bedroom but that moved I made was a very wrong one, as I turned to see him at the bedroom door immediately I dropped the brief case, he closed the door, looking at me seductively.
AMARACHI: sir, I have kept it, can I go now.
UNCLE JOE: no, there is still one thing you have to do for me.

I arrived at my Aunty restaurant, I killed the car engine after parking my car in a space I saw just right in front of my the restaurant, she was sitting at the side of the restaurant, immediately she saw me she got up and we embrace.
BIG MAMA: look at you, Victor, it is not fair ooo, even if your cousins don’t have time to come see me it very understandable but you that stays in the same city with me, tell me how can you say you are too busy to come visit me.
VICTOR: Aunty B, it not like that, believe me this past months has been really busy for me with work and a friend of mine too that needs all the help he can get to deal with some issues that is going on with him now, but I am here now right.
BIG MAMA: I heard you, I know you will always have an excuse, sit down.
We both did.
VICTOR: so how has business been going.
BIG MAMA: well we thank God, with the way you have been too busy I know work is fine.
VICTOR: as always.
BIG MAMA: so what about our wife to be.
VICTOR: she is fine.
BIG MAMA: she better be fine, after all the only thing she is good at is spending your money, I wonder what you see in her.
VICTOR: Aunty, please not today na.
My aunty never for once likes my fiancee, I have tried to make it possible but yet it doesn’t work, Becky my fiancee is a young lady that loves shopping a lot but apart from that she is perfect, she was the only woman that stood by me when things was really bad for me and it was with her help I got the work that is putting money in my account now, so am not bother if she spends some of it, she is lawyer and a good one at that, so I know she will always have my back when thing fall out of place, she spends alot yes but save a lot too and that is the part my Aunty don’t see.
BIG MAMA: what do you want to drink.
VICTOR: I don’t want to drink, I want to eat, i am hungry.
BIG MAMA: what would you love to eat then, let me tell one of my girls to bring it for you.
VICTOR: anything but first I need to go to the house to drop my bag and take a shower then I will come back to eat.
A bright smile appeared on her face.
BIG MAMA: you are sleeping over.
VICTOR: as much as I don’t want to see your husband’s face, yes I am spending the night here.
BIG MAMA: na you sabi, I will give you the key then, that’s remain me, where is this girl, she is not yet back, just to wash meat is what is taking forever.
VICTOR: which girl.
BIG MAMA: oh, she is my new worker, you need to hear this girl story you will be shocked, I will tell you later ok.
VICTOR: alright.
BIG MAMA: so go home, she will be at home.

AFAMEFUNA POV continue I got to lagos very late in the night and saw no sign of Amarachi or even Victor, I asked the gateman if anyone came by to look for me that day but he gave me a negative answer and this made me worried more, I wouldn’t sleep as I wait for Victor to come home since his number wasn’t connecting, I wasn’t worried about him because this wasn’t the first time his number won’t connect, it happens when ever he has a late meeting or work dinner, and I don’t have his business line. I opened my eyes to see Victor standing close to me, it was already morning, didn’t know when I slept off. VICTOR: Afam, this one you are sleeping on the sofa in the sitting room with your clothes still on, hope you are fine, did everything go well, I mean with Amarachi. AFAMEFUNA: that is the problem, she is not in the village, she is in lagos. VICTOR: wow, how come. AFAMEFUNA: it’s a long story. I told Victor parts of the story I know, he was shocked to hear it. VICTOR: Jesus, does that still happen in this century, what about the police. AFAMEFUNA: I should be the one asking you that. EMEKA: am so surprise. AFAMEFUNA: see, that is the least of my problem now, Amarachi is no where to be found, with all indications it shows you haven’t seen her. VICTOR: no I haven’t, have you asked Musa. AFAMEFUNA: I did, he too haven’t seen her, no one came to look for me or you yesterday. EMEKA: then where could she be. AFAMEFUNA: I don’t know, I don’t know, am losing it seriously. We left in search for her, we checked every car parks in lagos which we continue everyday but still no sign of her and this was getting me worried and scared, I was brought out of my thought when Victor called my name. VICTOR: Afam, you have to stop. He sat down opposite me. VICTOR : you haven’t had anything solid to eat from the pass two days now, do you want to kill yourself. AFAMEFUNA: am scared, what if she got into a wrong bus and… VICTOR: nothing has happened to her, she is fine, if you are thinking maybe she is dead, come on, think positive. I stood up why he left to drop his brief case, he came back few minutes later and we head out to the police station. ******************************* AMARACHI POV it has been days now since I started working in the restaurant, yes I got the job, the interview wasn’t that difficult because they were desperately in need of someone, and i happened to come just in time, the life in the city wasn’t that pleasant but still i thank God for providing for me, i so much missed my mother, and i pray she is happy where ever she is right now. Sometimes i wish i could go back in time to change everything but that was impossible, how i wish i had never meant the prince maybe things could have been more better than now, i know my life wasn’t a pleasant one but it was more better than this because no matter how hard i try to feel happy i still find myself feeling lonely, thought i will get use to it by now but that wasn’t happening. The restaurant wasn’t that big but was patronized by a lot of people because it’s in the center of the lagos market, we close very late in the night only on weekends but during the week we close very early, we were seven girls and three boys in number, and my boss name was called Big mama, she is marriage with no kids with her current husband, as i heard she had three children with her first husband, both of them are in their late 50s, Big mama is a very nice and easy going person and generous too, she was the one that helped me with accommodation when she heard my story, so i was living with them, but i can’t say same for her husdand uncle Joe as i normally call him, i don’t know much about him but i knew he was not a good news and i have observed the way he looks at me when ever he is around me so i always kept my distances, won’t want any trouble, i just needed a little time so i will be able to save enough money to rent my own accommodation. Samuel who is also a worker there was the only friend i had, though i do talk to the rest of my co-workers but Sameul was the only one that i was really close to and knows my story too, he is a gentle guy and hard working too, peole at the restaurant started having the thought that i and Samuel might be having something going but that didn’t affect our friendship, i had nothing to fear because Samuel already have a fiancee who he loves so much and won’t cheat on her, he was more like my big brother and many times has helped me from the men that tried to harass me sexually at the restaurant, evrerything was working well for me and i was happy but never knew my happiness will be cut short soon enough. ******************************** AFAMEFUNA POV I was already going crazy looking for Amarachi, it has been a month now since I and Victor made a complain to the police but they haven’t called to give me any good news, I even promised any one who could find her whereabouts One million naira as Victor told me that the people will do anything for money but yet no news and I was growing impatient, Victor was not at home, he had gone out to see his Aunty from his mother’s side, she stays in another part of Lagos and owns a restaurant, she is married, he offered I came with him but I just couldn’t, I prefer to use my free time to look for Amarachi. Mr William blood immediately ran cold, he tried to speak buy no words came out, he knew his request will be big and bad but wasn’t expecting this.
“ you see, I am a business man and i believe time means money to me, so if am going to give you time to pay me back my money, I want Nadia, with her by my side as my wife, I will know that you will definitely pay me within a very short time, you knowing she is with me, will make you hurry up, don’t worry I won’t hurt her”
“my daughter is just a child, she isn’t ready for marriage yet”
Mr William try to sound reasonable ,
“ to me she is ready, well, let’s do it this way, I will give you three days to think about it, and on the fourth day your answer will be needed”
“ you want me to sell my daughter to you”
“I want you to save your company, three days Mr William is all you’ve got, Richard will send you my personal line through your Email on the third day , do have a nice day”
With that Ethan and Richard left his office, Mr William feet couldn’t hold on anymore as it felt weak, he collapsed on his seat, Mr Edwards who has been standing there silently to fear soke out “sir”, Mr William raised up his left hand, stopping him from saying anything, he really want to be left alone, he wave Mr Edward away and Mr Edward left without saying anything, he really felt bad seeing his boss this way and he so much wish he could help but he knows there is nothing he can really do to held, he wonders how Mr Donald could ask his boss to trade his daughter for his company, that young man is really heartless.
WILLIAM RESIDENT
Mr William arrived home later that day and went straight to the bedroom, ever since Ethan left his office he hasn’t been himself, the condition Ethan has given him was too much and too difficult for him to choose, he loves his daughter just as much as he values his company, if only Ethan was a nice young man it would have been easy but marrying his precious daughter to someone like him was like sending his own daughter to her death with his hands, he knows she will never be happy there and he has just three days to decide what to do,
“ God, please, tell me what to do, I can’t sell my daughter to that animal, its impossible”
“what’s impossible”
Mr William turned his head and saw Elena standing at the door looking straight at him, she has been there for a while now and Mr William fail to notice her presence because he was lost in his own thought, Mr William shift his face to the floor, Elena walks to him and sat at his side resting her arm on his shoulder,
“ I know this is really disturbing you but we will get through this, we have gotten through a lot of things and they all passed, so this is going to pass with time, please stop worrying”
He immediately looks up to his wife without holding himself back he said it out
“ Mr Donald was in my office today”
surprise and shocked was written on her face,
“ he wasn’t pleased that the money wasn’t ready” he continues “ I managed to ask for more time”
“ did he agree “ she asked impatiently,
“ he did, he is going to give me time as much as I need but with a condition”
this time he was looking straight into her eyes, she knew this wasn’t going to be good,
“ what is it” she asked, he was silent for some time not knowing how to say it out, after a while, “ Nadia”
Elena looks confused “he want to marry Nadia”, Elena was speechless, she was trying to put the words she just heard together, “ he want Nadia to be his wife” Mr William said again not knowing if she heard the first time because she was silent, “ honey are…..”, he called out but was interrupted by Elena angry voice, “ NO WAY” she was furious now,

she said in one go without giving herself a break, Mr William immediately took hold of her arms,

Mr Williams has been in his office and on the phone since he arrived at his office in the morning trying to find who will help him with a loan that huge, that has been what him and his wife has been doing for the past days now but nothing has come out yet and he was almost frustrated with all the disappointing replies he and his wife have been getting, some promise to loan a little while others can’t help, even with all the money others have promised the amount wasn’t up to the money he is to pay Ethan, he has even went to take loan from the bank but he was refused because he doesn’t have any assets that is worth 45 billion dollars.
He was already going crazy, he knows yesterday was the deadline that was given to him by Ethan but he couldn’t meet up, he was already hoping to see a court letter requesting for his presence any time soon, he has also called Vivian his cousin but still she wasn’t helpful, she and her husband can only help with little for that moment but they both have promised to try and collect a load from the bank on their behalf, he knows it will be easy for Mr Jonathan to be granted a loan because he does have assets even worth 100 billion dollars, and he pray in his heart that they should be able to help that way.
He was brought out of his thought with the sound of his office door being open revealing his secretary who was struggling with some one as the unknown person force his or her way into his office, but the man over powered his secretary, Mr William was already furious to know who could enter his office unannounced and without an appointment, the person struggling with his secretary came to view and it was no other person than Richard, he calmed down a little recognizing Richard, without being told he knows why he came but why struggle with his secretary, he was about to open his mouth to address both Richard and his secretary when the other person that went through the door sent a cold chill all over his body, he doesn’t know why because he wasn’t feeling and boldness in him and there wasn’t smiling in the face of the young man that just entered his office.
“ sir am so sorry, I tried to stop them but” the secretary was saying as she was breathing heavily but was cut short by my William, “ don’t worry you can go” “ thank you sir” she said with a little bow, “ and call me Mr Edward “ “ yes sir” she gave Richard a dreadful look before walking out of the office shutting the down behind her.
“ you came unannounced, and barging into my office is not appropriate”
Mr William said immediately the secretary left trying hard not to sound anxious, ignoring Mr William words Ethan took his seat while Richard stood close to him,
“ would you have welcomed me with an open arms knowing I came for my money, well I don’t think you could, and beside your secretary was flirting with me when I walked passed her, she didn’t realizing on time that I have walked passed her” Ethan said looking straight at Mr William, Mr William doesn’t care about the love or sex life of his worker as far it doesn’t destroy his company reputation.
“ so now, why am I here” Ethan continues, “ well am here to collect my money, so without wasting my time could you do transfer to my account immediately, Richard, give him the account details”, he added
Richard started looking for a document in the file he was holding, “wait” Mr William spoke out, Richard immediately stopped what he was doing looking a little confused as to why he was stopped but Ethan didn’t look confused, he only did that to shake him a little and it worked, of course he knows Mr William doesn’t have the money,
“ you know there is no way I can get that amount of money within a week right?”
“ is that a question or a statement” Ethan asked.
“ Mr Donald, try and put yourself in my position, you of all people knows it is impossible, mostly when your business is not going well, try to be considerate”
Ethan immediately raise his right have to shut him off, “ Mr William, number one, I can never be in your position”, he sounded a little offended and he didn’t try to hide it, “ and two”, he continues “ my company can never be in any crisis that will push me to loan from another company, why should I when I have investments can settle bills like this, I was made to understand that your company is in difficulties because of what your father did, am not too sure what it is and I don’t care, like I was saying, my father won’t be stupid to leave a massive debts for me to pay, if it was me I could have sold the company and use the money to do something that befit me….. No, your status “ he ended.
“My Donald I won’t have you come into my office to insult me and the spirit of my late father”
Mr William said angrily but yet it didn’t move Ethan, “ good you are clever than I thought, you knew it was an insult well I wanted it to sound like an insult, now” Ethan rested one of his hand on the desk with a serious look,
“ if you don’t want me to go to your fathers grave and spit on it you might as well give me my GODDAMN MONEY” Ethan hit the desk in angry shocking Mr William and at that moment Mr Edwards walked into the open panicking,
“ sir, is everything alright “ he asked, Mr William only gave him a nod without saying anything,
“ now if you don’t want to give me back what belongs to me I suggest you don’t teach me how to use my words”, Ethan said angrily, one of the thing he hates was being told what to do, he was so angry at Mr Williams for speaking to him that way,
“ Mr Donald”, Mr William was about to speak but immediately stopped when Ethan got up resting both hands on his desk,
“ I don’t want to hear any more word, it is obvious you don’t have my money”
“I have come up with some”
“ some is nothing to me, I want all, Mr William, if I don’t get my money before sun down, I will make sure this you call a company will become nothing, I will bring it to the ground, you and your father might have spent years building this, but it won’t take me hours to bring it to nothing, I will be waiting Mr William and I so much hate waiting “ with this Ethan turn to leave,
Mr William immediately got up, he knows Ethan meant what he said and he just couldn’t allow that to happen, this was his family life and they have fought for this company for many years, he can’t just let it get destroyed on his watch,
“ please give me more time” he said stopping Ethan on his track, he continued “give me more time and I promise I will pay back everything “.
“ yes, maybe I could give you a lot of time”, saying this he turn facing Mr William.
“ I can and I will give you a lot of time”, Mr William relaxed a pit hearing that from him, “ thank you”
“ but you see, you have already made this same promise to my grandfather and my dad but you didn’t fulfill it, so if I want to give you more time, I will have to hold something as a guarantee that you will pay back, because with that I will be rest assured you will pay me”
Mr William was a little confused, what could he have that will get the interest of Mr Donald. “ I don’t think I have what will get your interest”,
“ sure you do, just one thing”
“and what is that” Mr William knows this wasn’t going to be a good one
“ your daughter, what’s are name again, yes…….. Nadia, I want Nadia to be my wife”
Wow, you guys was correct, he really want Nadia as his wife, now the question is why will he want her and will Mr Williams agree to this,..
