4. 35 VS. 70% Royalty Options Publishing with Amazon offers you the chance to gain either 35 or 75 percent royalty earnings, based on the listing price for your book. For all books sold below 2.99 Dollars, and over 9.99 Dollars, you stand to gain about 35% royalty remittance. On the other hand, books sold over 2.99 to 9.99 USD offers you a whooping 70% in royalty. To choose a convenient royalty for your book, you’ll need to consider several options. For instance, you’ll have to put into consideration, factors like; a.) Available territories where your books will be sold. Most of the time, the 70% royalty is only available for sales in the US and most of Europe. For sales in some locations outside this, you’ll need to be enrolled in the Amazon KDP Select before you can enjoy the 70% royalty. b.) Book Size; you’ll also need to consider the file size of your book, as this will affect your cumulative royalty per sales. c.). Competition Pricing; Finally, you’ll also need to put into consideration, the average prices for other books that are similar to yours. Having a thorough look at these pointers will help you in choosing the right listing price and subsequently, the royalty that will be beneficial to you, based on your realities. 5. Marketing and Promotions If your sole objective is to make money selling your book on Amazon then you’re going to do a lot of work when it comes to promoting the book. Reason for this is because, you’re going to be the one doing most of the promotions for your book, if you really want to sell. Of course, you can always pay people to promote your book on your behalf if you have the means. Generally, you have the option of promoting your book either by the use of the free promotional options available or the paid promotions. I made a comprehensive post on how to promote your books on Amazon here. When it comes to free promotion, there are a lot of things you can do to promote your book for free. This could include things like enrolling your book in the KDP Select program and using the few available promotional options, getting an author website and blog, writing guest posts, getting featured on podcasts and interviews etc. The paid promotion on the other hand can be quite pricey. Wit paid promotion, you can choose to use third party promotional platforms like social media Ads, paid ads on other websites, Google AdWords etc. You’ll also have the option of using Amazon’s own paid promotion channels. If you’re planning to use the Amazon platform for paid promotion, you’ll need to have at least 100 USD in your amazon account before you can get started. If you’re not able to access such amount then promoting your book on Amazon might not be the thing for you 6. KDP Select KDP Select is a program available to authors who are willing to give Amazon exclusive rights to sell their ebooks only on the Amazon stores, in return for some promotional tools that will help the author to sell even more books. It is usually an optional offer in which users can opt in and opt out usually, within a period of 90 days. While KDP Select usually sound promising for most new authors, it does not always mean all authors will make a lot of sales when they enroll on the program. The program has both it’s pros and cons which includes for instance; that you will not be able to sell your book on any other platforms apart from Amazon while you’re still enrolled in the program. This means that besides selling it offline, you’re stuck with selling your book only on Amazon, if you subscribe to the program. On the positive sides, you can use the various available tools for KDP select authors, to promote your book. Based on the foregoing, it is very important you study and understand your options before enrolling on the program. 7. Genre Your genre is one other important thing you should consider before publishing online. While it is not arguable that Amazon sells books on almost all the well known genres on earth, there are actually a handful of genres that command the largest number of sales on the platform. In order to make effective sales on Amazon, you need to consider your book’s genre, and be sure you’re writing on a genre that has a reasonable number of fans on the platform. Doing this will make it easier for you to promote and sell the book. In conclusion, publishing on Amazon is a great idea but as always, there are certain things you will need to put into consideration before making a final decision to publish on the platform. Now, over to you. When it comes to publishing on Amazon, which of these things are really of a great concern to you? https://www.victorwinners.com/publishing-on-amazon/ |
Are you a Nigerian or African author aspiring to publish your book on Amazon? Actually, publishing on Amazon is a great idea. But, just like any other platform, Amazon publishing has its pros and cons. And there are a lot of things you need to know about Amazon before you get to publish on the platform, especially because of the geographic location. Knowing about these things will help you in making decisions that will affect your book’s sales and ultimately, the overall success of your book. Now, without much ado, the following are some of the important things you need to consider before publishing your book on Amazon; 1.Your Objective One of the most important things to consider before publishing on Amazon is your objective as an author. Before you get started on your publishing journey, you need to ask yourself, what exactly are my objectives? What do i want to gain by publishing this book? Is your objective precisely to make money online as a published author? Are you trying to create a voice or you just want to leave a legacy that will showcase your expertise? If your publishing objective is the former or latter, your strategy will be different. Understanding your objective helps you in getting things in the right perspectives, before you finally kickstart your publishing journey. After getting clear with your objective(s), you can head over to create your goals and marketing strategy, based on that. 2. The target Audience The second important thing you need to consider before publishing on Amazon is your target audience. This is a no brainer. There’s always a need to consider your target audience before you embark on publishing on any platform, whether online or offline. This is very important. To get started with this, you want to start with asking yourself questions like; who am i writing for? Who’s likely going to buy this book, after I get it into the market? Are these people on Amazon? Do they buy books from Amazon or would they be willing to make purchase from Amazon, if I publish my book there. Knowing the availability of your real target audience is very important to the success of your book. Because if there’s no sufficient number of potential buyers for your book on Amazon then there might not be any need to publish on the platform in the first place. Another thing you need to do is to consider the content of your book. Does your content sit comfortably with this audience? Or is there a way they can connect to what you’re writing about? Getting to know this clearly will guide you on your decisions as to whether publishing on Amazon will help you achieve your goals as an author or not. 3. The Listing Price Before publishing on Amazon, you also need to consider the listing price for your book. To get a realistic listing price for your book, there are certain things you need t look into. This includes among other things, the best price for the average buyer, based on the purchasing power of your audience and the price that will leave you with a decent royalty, after all expenses are deducted. If you’re also publishing a paperback copy of your book on Amazon, before fixing your list price, you need to pay attention to the printing cost, cost of shipping the book to the buyer, Amazon charges and your own net royalty. Having a fair knowledge of this will help you in setting a list price that will be beneficial to you, your audience and Amazon itself. Considering the cost price and corresponding royalty, you’ll have to decide if publishing on Amazon is the right thing to do or not. If making profit is your primary motive and publishing there is not worth it then you might want to consider an alternative platform. https://www.victorwinners.com/publishing-on-amazon/ |
That's not right. You can publish your books on Amazon from Nigeria and almost every other country in Africa. I personally have a published book on Amazon and I've published for other Nigerians too. RayDay007: |

What’s your work from home experience? Recently, working from home has become the new reality for companies and businesses around the world. Most formerly skeptical businesses are now seeing the need to embrace remote work and a lot of others are fixing strategies to overhaul their office focused operational systems. For those of us operating online businesses, e-commerce, tech related businesses etc who are already used to working remotely even if partially, working from home is not supposed to be a big deal for us. Compared to working from home elsewhere, working remotely in Nigeria and most other African countries has it's own specific requirements based on our own realities. From getting back-up electricity gadgets to getting ready for slow internet connectivity at intervals, there are a bucket list of things you need to get prepared for before embarking on a successful work from home experience in Nigeria. Over the years, with experience and successive efforts, the following are some tips that have shaped my work-from-home experience and that of many other entrepreneurs working from home in Nigeria. Below are the tips; Set up a Work Corner. In Nigeria, working from home does not necessarily mean that you need to have an exclusive home office for your work before you can get productive. However, you definitely need a safe space where you can do your work effectively without much disturbance. Especially when you don’t live alone. For this to work very well, you need a corner that is quiet, free from distractions and a place where you can create an ambience of an office space, exclusively for your work. Get your Tools Together To work from home successfully, you need certain tools to get your work done. From your gadgets to apps, internet service, stable power supply etc. you need to put these tools in place in order to get your work coming up effectively. If you were to be in a developed country or some choice locations around major cities, you may not have a lot to worry about stable power supply but where you’re living in a developing country like Nigeria, power outages could be one of the biggest fall outs that will affect your productivity. To get around this, you want to work on getting at least the most affordable alternative power sources like Generating sets, Power banks, Solar panels etc to power up your gadgets. Where you can’t get one, you have to utilize whatever electricity you have very effectively. Focus on performing most of the work that’s less dependent on electricity when there’s power outage.. When power is restored, you can then focus on doing most electricity reliant work at that time. Of course this approach may not fix your issues entirely but, with much flexibility and pragmatism you can rely on this until you afford an alternative energy source. Get a daily Plan One habit you’d mostly experience when you work from home without a plan or target is the habit of doing random things at different intervals. The habit of stopping in the middle of one work to fix another you think is more urgent. This usually happens when there’s no plan for the day. Or when you don’t strictly follow your laid down plans. To get this out of the way, you need to organize your daily schedules and then follow a strictly laid down plans that spells out roughly the things you need do for a particular day. And how this thing will help you towards reaching your goal for the week or month. This means you must have weekly goals that are measurable too. This takes us to step number four. Set clear Goals Your goals could be anything from getting an ABC number of clients for your biz to getting your business from point A to B within an XYZ time. Without a clear goal, you’re not getting anywhere with your biz. And if you’re not getting anywhere then there’s no need (or motivation) to work. You want to set goals that inspire you. Make your goals realistic and allow it to power your drive to work as you wake up everyday. Without this in place, you’ll hardly get better results when you work from home. Especially if you’re working for yourself. Working for others is a bit different because you’re most likely under supervision and you’ll be reporting to a superior. But when you work for yourself, you’re not reporting to anyone so you’ll feel it’s not bad to nibble away some hours. Of course you’ll definitely not be penalized. But your bank account will suffer for the incessant nibbling. As a self employed person, freelancer or entrepreneur, you really can make something out for yourself working from home in Nigeria. This is what I tell people. Stay Committed to Work As an employee, one of the high points of working from home is that you may not have a lot of supervision compared to what you would have in a formal office environment. With this, you could be tempted to put in less effort to work and this can affect your productivity in the long run. For an entrepreneur on the other hand, being self employed affords you the opportunity to get up to work whenever you want and leave your desk at your convenience and no one would question you. Managing such freedom without discipline and a serious commitment to your overall business goals can affect your business to a large extent. So either as an employee or entrepreneur, you need lots of self discipline to set your goals and stay on track even if you could walk away without consequences. This commitment is what will keep you on your desk even when you feel like taking a break. Measure and track your Goals. Don’t be tempted to believe it’s enough to set goals. Take out time to measure and track your goals. Find out how realistic they are and how effective you’ve been working towards achieving them. This will inform you on whether you’re actually getting the results right or not. It will also guide you on what needs to be done. If the biggest need for your biz right now is to survive the new normal, set your goals around that then chunk down these goals into small tasks that will get you closer to achieving it every day. Review your strategy. To be able to work from home successfully, you will have to review your strategy, track your success and measure your achievements. Don’t be scared to review and re-strategize your approach to work, your strategy and other activities. Check out those short emails you sent. Did they generate results? How many people opened it. Find out, based on today’s result, do you want to create that same content again tomorrow? It’s very easy to think that every thing is working very well as they should because you've been very busy putting up the work. Truth is, in this game, busyness is different from productivity so put your ears to the ground. Your effort and hours are gold. Don’t waste it. Cut off activities that’s not adding up to your overall goals. Before i conclude, here are a few takeaways i want you to get out from this post… Virtual office is the future of work and remote work is going to be a major part of the new normal. Over to you. What is your favorite work from home tips you’d like to share? https://www.victorwinners.com/how-to-work-from-home/ |

As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to disrupt the global economy and social systems, causing untold hardship and gloom for businesses, a lot of online businesses are yet to prepare for the post Covid-19 economy. Notwithstanding possible measures put in place to stem the outbreak, analysts believe the Covid-19 can cost global economy more than a whooping 2.7 trillion in losses. This may sound like some doomsday predictions but indeed, the future looks bleak and unpredictable. And above all there are speculations it could take up to 3 years before the global economy winds off the effects of Covid-19. So there could be worse days ahead. What can you do as an online Business? It’s true. Most online businesses hardly ever prepared for an outbreak of this magnitude. For such, there’s hardly any prior plans for the imminent economic downturn. But, since this has happened, there are precautionary measures you could take that will definitely ameliorate some of the effects of the Coronavirus outbreak on your business. Effects of Covid-19 on Small Businesses Below are the 7 effects of Covid19 and how they could possibly affect your online business… Major Spending Cuts. A lot of travel agencies and travel companies are already feeling the brunt of the economic crunch occasioned by the virus out break. Large scale travel restrictions and Social Distancing have spiked a sharp fall in consumer spending thus leading to a slow growth in global economy. According to a report by Mckinsey, the impact of Covid-19 could lead to similar economic crisis experienced during the 2008 global recession. For this reason, to be able to keep their business running, most companies will have to cut cost. This is going to be one of the biggest effect of Covid-19 on businesses and it will lead to serious boomerang effect beyond the digital world. Jobs will be lost as companies strive to reduce cost. Most workers will be laid off. A lot of services will most likely be out sourced to virtual or external companies at a cheaper rate while most other services will be discontinued. Increased Need to Set up Online Businesses Lack of jobs and a crushing economy will make running online businesses more attractive. For the fact you don’t need a physical office, store etc, the cost effectiveness of running an online business will inspire individuals to set up businesses online. This would be a good time for Web Developers and others to sharpen their skills and reach out to a new audience. For most existing businesses, the increase in competition could possibly pose a threat and decline in business revenues as newer businesses would tend to bring down their prices in order to attract clients. This will in the long run force some existing service-based businesses to cut down their prices… In the end, due to a slow economy and reduction in consumer expenditure, the average cost for building websites and web related apps will be far cheaper. But the demand will be slightly higher still. Increased focus on International Transactions. With widespread increase in cases of the Coronavirus across the world, analysts believe it might take years before the the world can recover from the economic loss due to the pandemic. Coupled with the slump in crude oil prices, a lot of marketers and web developers in oil exporting and most developing countries will have to target their services at advanced countries as most local businesses will be less able to afford a decent price. Doing this successfully will in the long run cushion the effect of the economic down turn as subsisting inflation in most countries will increase the value of every dollar earned. Surge in Demand for Designs As businesses strive to get back on their feet after the long Covid-19 induced break, there will be an increasing demand for Graphics Designs and other Web Design Services. This will partially drive the demand for Graphics and Web Designers. Although the opportunities may not be as lucrative as it was prior to the Covid-19 era. Reduction in cost for PPC Advertising. With an increasing economic downturn, a lot of businesses will abandon online advertising in order to cut cost. This will play a role in forcing major advertising companies like Google, Facebook etc to cut down their cost per click and other advert rates. For a business with a deep pocket, here’s a good time to work on increasing your advertising expenditure. The lack of adequate competition will not only drive results, it will increase your ROI at a higher rate and less cost. For businesses with less advertising funds, this will be a good time to focus on content marketing to drive both organic and inorganic traffic. Fluctuating Investment in Website Maintenance and Social Media Management Services. As the economic crunch bites harder, most small businesses will cut off unnecessary expenditure while increasing the workload for in-house staff. For this reason, a lot of service based businesses like Website Management, Social Media Management etc will get less and less engagement. And may be pushed to downsize their work force. At the same time, a lot of medium Enterprises and MSMEs with a larger work force will focus on downsizing their work force to cut cost. They will in turn work on outsourcing some of these services to service based agencies at a cheaper cost. To be strategically positioned for this opportunity as a web agency, you want to have a team, a well known brand and a very affordable cost in place. You’ll also want to have a track record of getting the job done and a reasonable testimonial from clients as social proof. More Investment in Content Marketing Most businesses will embrace Content Marketing. As a result of the cash crunch, post Covid-19 online businesses will witness far less cash to spend on online advertising. For this reason, there will be an increasing need for Content Marketing to keep an inflow of traffic. This in turn will create an increasing demand for Content marketers and Content Marketing Agencies as a one time investment on content marketing will in the long run create a steady flow of traffic, compared to advertising. Increasing Expenditure on Cyber Security One of the most proactive measures put in place to curb the spread of Covid19 across the world has been social distancing. With increasing adherence to social distancing, people are becoming more dependent on digital tools to communicate. Many other individuals are depending on these tools to work from home. These and many more have created a higher risk for hackers and other cyber criminals to target these digital tools. As the Coronavirus outbreak pushes even more people to increasingly depend on the internet and other digital tools in order to stay connected, a cyber attack that deprives individuals and organizations access to their devices can pose a serious threat to businesses. Recently, an attempt has been made to hack the website that publishes statistics on Coronavirus. Such incidence if successful can lead to major disruption in stats and data breach. Thus as part of the effects of Covid-19 on businesses, there’s an increasing need to put up reliable cyber security measures as businesses continue to depend on the internet for communications. This incidence will cause a slight increase in expenditure on cyber security either for purposes of creating awareness or fixing vulnerabilities and possible data leakages. In conclusion, notwithstanding the gloomy pictures out there, with the right approaches, as businesses; we will definitely triumph in the end. So as we strive to stay safe and conquer Covid-19 together, you want to protect your online business and prepare for better days ahead. https://www.victorwinners.com/effect-of-covid-19-on-businesses/ |

This is one of the most straight from the heart content you'll read on this issue of earning some income online as a blogger. And it's totally FREE. Of course, there are actually many ways new bloggers can make money with their blogs. But I’ll talk about a few things that really worked for me. The first one is Content Marketing which is almost obvious. As i write this, my blog has been read by hundreds of thousands of people across 140 countries but when I started blogging, I didn’t really care about Content Marketing. In fact I knew almost nothing about it. I started out with lifestyle blogging and I blogged about anything I felt like talking about. From Poetry, short stories, leadership to personal opinion, i wrote all these articles on my blog. Looking back, I can say it was almost difficult to place a finger on what exactly my blog was all about. And this didn’t help me. Because the blog ended up lasting for a very short while. Why was this so? My blogging strategy was not sustainable. I didn’t have any decent traffic except a few family and friends. It was so bad that at a point I couldn’t renew my hosting subscription because the blog was not making profit so I had to stop. 3 years later, the blog did not just start getting a decent traffic and generating income, it garnered modest success. Gradually, we got cited by major publications. Other bloggers teamed up to collaborate with us at different times. At a point, we were even listed as one of the top 60 web design blogs on the internet, alongside major websites like Hongkiat, Envato, Sitepoint etc. So what did I do differently? Truth be told, everything you do online is about traffic. Whether you’re running ads, selling products and services, etc, your blog can only make money if you have some decent traffic. So what’s the the first step for to a new blogger to make money with their blog? 1. Fix your traffic. But how can you fix your traffic? Start with investing in Content Marketing. Like I said earlier, a lot of new bloggers wanting to make money with their blogs are blogging part time. The reason you’re not making money with your blog is not because you’re blogging part time. Your blog is not making money because you’re blogging as a hobby blogger instead of blogging as an entrepreneur. So if you want to start making money with your new blog fast, you have to learn how to blog like an entrepreneur fro the very beginning. How to blog as an entrepreneur? Blogging as an entrepreneur is one of the easiest ways to make money with your blog as a new blogger. This is because, as an entrepreneur, you don’t leave your success to chance as most hobby bloggers would. You set out set out for your blogging business with a purpose in mind, laying out all the strategies that will help you attend that goal. This is where planning comes in. As a new blogger Instead of going about as I did when I started out, you focus on getting a clear cut strategy for your blog. Your strategy will involve a blogging plan. And it should contain things like the purpose of your blog or blogging goal, your posting schedule (which you’ll have to stick with in order to attend your goals), a time tag for achieving certain milestones with the blog etc. After your blogging strategy, focus on Content Marketing. Make Content marketing part of your blogging strategy. This is very important. And if you don’t get it sorted out from the beginning there’s a less probability to make money with your blog as a new blogger. Why is this so? Because content marketing is at the center of what drives sustainable and targeted traffic to your blog. With Content Marketing, you’re able to carve out a target audience who’ll later serve as your clients, target them with valuable post that will be useful to them which in turn will help you build a good rapport and brand expertise that can convert your readers to your clients. This is why you can’t make a living blogging as a new blogger if you’re only updating or writing your blog whenever you feel like it. 2. Understand the basics about your business. One of the things that drive readers respect about you and your opinion is when you develop a good reputation for your brand based on the uniqueness and practicality of the content you share. Even when you’re not yet an expert in your niche, with solid research backed with data from reputable sources, you can learn and grow with your audience through the process. 3. Be committed to success. A lot of new bloggers are more focused on making money really fast. If there’s a slight delay in their blog’s ability to generate income, they get discouraged and move on. TBH, if you’re of this mindset, it won’t take you far. Because blogging demands lots of patience and work. So you have to be willing to put in the work in advance, before expecting to make some decent money from your blog. Because, even when there are a few new bloggers raking in some income from their blogs within a few months, there are still a lot of blogs that only started making money after some years of blogging. Most times, these could be due to the consistency of the blogger, the marketing strategy they used or they niche they are blogging in. 3 Factors that decides whether a blog will make money or not Ok. In the other part of this post, we talked about things you can do to make money with your blog… In this part we’ll talk about the three factors that determines whether your blog will make money or not. I’ll divide this part into three sub heads, Niche, Business Model, Consistency and we’re doing this right away… Your Niche. The niche you’re blogging about can determine the duration or time you’ll make money with your new blog. Here are some instances… Let’s say you’re blogging on a niche with a large number of experts for instance… Usually, having a good number of experts in a niche is an indication of the profitability of that niche but, as a beginner, you could be there without making a lot of headway compared to another blogger in a different niche with just a few experts. Of course, I’m not saying you should ignore niches with a large number of experts. With the right strategies, you can still scale your new blog and make some decent income online even in competitive niches. But everything all boils down to your goal, the duration of time you’re willing to wait and the effort you’d be ready to put in before your blog can start making money online. Another instance your niche will influence how soon you make money with your blog is where you’re blogging on a niche that’s relatively new, seasonal or something with very few searches… Niches like these may take too long to make any impact compared to other niches. Or in some cases it may not generate any online income altogether. So, at the end of the day, the niche you decide to blog about may be one of the biggest decider if blogging will actually work for you as a means of generating income online or not. With this in mind, you have to be very careful while choosing a niche. And you have to put in considerations for your blogging goals and the resources you have. Like I mentioned earlier, with these ticked out, you can definitely make money online in any niche. All the same, it will take a new blogger extra work and effort to really break through a niche that’s saturated with established experts. Blogging Model. Another factor that affects the success of a blog is the blogging model used by the blogger. A blogging model like any business model is a repeatable strategy you can use to make money with your blog consistently. Most new bloggers fail to realize that blogging is never a direct tool for making money online. It is meant to be an indirect tool to generate income. So you want to ask yourself, which of the indirect blogging strategy will I use to make money with my blog? The following are some of the popular blogging models and strategies used by bloggers successfully. Third Party Advertising Model Many bloggers choose the 3rd party advertising model. This model works very well with news styled blogs… With this blogging model, you update different kinds of posts on your blog consistently, get some decent traffic and audience, advertise to this audience on the blog via Google Adsense, Paid ads, Affiliate ads etc, thus making money from the ads. If you look around, majority of the news and entertainment blogs use this model. The good thing about this model is that you don’t have to be the original source of all the articles posted on your blog. There’ll always be news and information you can source your articles, write and update them on your blog. Also, this model demands a lot of time investment so it may not work effectively for all bloggers, especially people blogging part time. This is because for a part time blogger, depending on your schedule, you may not have enough time to write consistent posts that will generate the kind of traffic that can help you monetize your blog successfully. So in that case, focusing on Google Adsense, Affiliate Ads or Paid Ads as a blogging Model may not be work for you as a blogging model or monetization strategy. Physical Product Model. This model thrives on selling a physical product. So with this model, you create or buy products then get your blog posts targeted at potential audience that will be interested in that product. It works well for e-commerce businesses and other businesses focused on selling some form of physical product to a specific audience. Even when the physical product model is very effective, if your product is not unique or targeted at a unique demographic, you may still have issues getting a decent traffic that can become buyers. Compared to the 3rd party advertising model, it is easier for a new blogger to make money with this model especially if you’re selling a unique product or targeting a highly profitable demographic. Service Model The service model is another popular blogging model many bloggers use in making money with their blogs. With the Service Model, you blog about a particular skill you’re good at for example Photography, Graphics Design, Digital Marketing etc. When optimized properly, your targeted clients come to your blog, Landing page, etc via the posts. You make money selling those services to them. One peculiar thing about this model is the fact that you’ll have to be knowledgeable in a certain skill before even getting started… Meaning that if you don’t have the skill set you want to market to your audience, you’ll have to learn the skills first. Another noticeable thing about this niche is that the more expertise you demonstrate with your brand, the more people will get to trust you and your ability to deliver the services… That means besides having or learning a skill, you’ll have to work on building a brand… This may take some effort and time. Finally, as a beginner, with this model, you can easily make money blogging. Also, if you don’t have a skill, you can be learning a skill while blogging. This would be suitable for freelancers, students and most people blogging part time. Unlike the Product Model, you won’t have to spend money buying products you need to sell etc. Digital Product Model This model thrives on selling digital product like information products, e-books, online courses, subscription posts etc. It works almost like the Services model. Being an expert in the niche will help you scale even faster but, unlike the services model, you don’t necessarily have to be an expert to scale. With a decent skillset and lots of research you can write or create digital products that you can sell online via your blog. These are some of the most significant blogging models out there. These blogging models have helped a lot of bloggers to earn from their blog still, not knowing the exact blogging model to use can affect the ability of your blog to make money online. Consistency The third factor that affects the ability of any blog to make money is the consistency of posting. Truth be told, a lot of new bloggers are still amateurish, with no specific strategy, posting only when they have inspiration or feel like posting, yet expecting their blogs will make money fast. This doesn’t work. If you’re in a formal employment, you won’t go to work or open your business only on days you feel like it. You’d show up every day, even on days you don’t feel like it. These are part of the things that makes you earn your income. So why would you show up on your blog only on days you feel like and still expect to make money online as someone that shows up all the time? Just like Consistency, Work and Effort helps you earn your current income, same consistency, work and effort are part of the things that will help you earn from your blog. There are no two ways about it. From blogging, to marketing and promoting your product or services, you have to show up consistently, if you’re going to build a genuinely successful blog that will serve as your main source of income. So, here’s the most important tips on how new bloggers can make money with a new blog. How were you able to make money with your new blog? https://www.victorwinners.com/new-bloggers-make-money/ (c) 2020 Victor Winners. |
If you were to choose between a well written blog post and an amateur video content what would you choose? This is usually my question to Content developers and Bloggers when I talk about Video Content and Content Marketing. Because so many people have lost it on this issue. Especially beginners. How can you focus on producing video content when you don’t really have the resources to produce high Quality videos, compared to the people you’re competing with? The problem i find with this approach is that Running like this can only get you drained of all your motivation if you’re not careful. This is why I always advice new Bloggers and Content Developers against starting out as video content producers especially where you don't have a known brand or adequate resources. I mean, it is not a bad thing to start out as a vlogger. At any given point, a lot of things will always play out to decide if you’re ready to switch to video content. For instance your industry and the audience you’re targeting with your video content will have a role to play in determining your expenses and the quality that will be expected of each video you produce. A niche with super high end client that’s used to sophisticated video content for instance will not only see you and your video as amateur especially where they are not up to the industry standard, they will always prefer the established persons in that Industry, to a new entrant. So what can a new Blogger do about Video Content? I was listening to Gary the other day in one of his videos and he kept focusing on documenting Video Content. Attendees raised issues like investment in background setting, Video Camera, Clothing for the video presentation etc. His reply to most of the observations was that these things don’t really matter. Of course, i understand his point of view. Especially as a thought leader and established Content Marketer, that doesn’t matter. And it won’t matter if he’s making the video in his bedroom or in his kitchen He’s earned his credibility. So he can take many things for granted without people looking down on his brand. But, people do care, if you’re a new brand starting out this way? Now here’s the thing… As a new Blogger or Content Producer, If you have money to spend in producing high quality stuff, you can start producing Video Content as soon as you launch out your online platform. If on the other hand you’re producing content on a budget, then here’s an alternative to Video content… Instead of spending your energy producing YouTube videos, use that same energy to produce high quality text content. Now here are 3 reasons blog posts are the best form of content for new bloggers and content creators… 1. You’ll build authority, back-links and influence even before producing YouTube videos. With very high quality text content, you can get back links and shares that will help you get ranked much easily. The higher you’re ranked and the more people keep seeing your content, the more you get better rank and your authority improves. This goes a long way in building your brand and thought leadership potentials before you start producing your videos. 2. You can get the audience from your blog over to your YouTube channel as subscribers. This will help in building up your initial audience so you won’t have to start from the ground up. 3. You’ll be able to blog from anywhere without the pressure to sound or appear visually appealing. Truth be told, you can’t take serious advice from someone that sounds amateurish on the internet. That’s the same thing with the average person in your audience. So, to produce Content people will take seriously, you’ll have to look and sound really compelling yourself. Now with the high level of competition in YouTube and other online video space right now, it becomes really difficult to sound sophisticated and still survive the grind as a beginner. Not only will it be more capital intensive for you, it will also require more time investment and other resources. As a start out on a budget, this is not part of the expenses you want to make. Compared to Video Content, all you need to create exceptional result for your text content, is write high quality content with loads of value. Make it better than any other content in that niche and then promote it better than anyone else. Doing this is less tasking, financially and physically, compared to creating a video content that is better than that of anyone else. Also, you can create a text content from anywhere. And with almost any smart phone or laptop but, you can’t create a good video content from just anywhere. Again, with text content, people only get to read your post. They don’t have to see you in person. And the good thing here is that you can write your blog post or text content right behind your keyboard, in your pajamas or whatever you choose to wear, without the need to set up any special arrangement. With a video content, you’d definitely need a certain kind of presentable outfit, professional looking environment, editing of the video and other accessories, to make everything come out great. At the end of the day, getting these things may give you an additional cost and extra investment in time. As a Content Developer on a budget, what you want to do is cut cost until you’re able to make profit. This is where producing high quality text content over videos comes into play. It is sad that today, a lot of influencers keep talking about content marketers moving over to Video Content indiscriminately… Truth is, that’s BS. Everything has context. In this digital journey, every Content Marketer/Blogger is not at the same level. So the fact that video content works for a competitor that’s far ahead of you does not mean it will work for you as a beginner. Producing video content is a good thing to do but your video or text content is not part of what is going to determine if you’ll turn out as a successful content producer or blogger as much as your strategy. What is important is that you engage yourself in activities that can sustain your inspiration and momentum while gradually building your content and working towards your goals. Again, for new content marketers, one of my best tips is usually to have goals. And not just that, divide your goals into achievable time line. So you’ll want to have Short term, Mid-term and Long term goals. With these, as a beginner, you can factor stuff like Video Content into your medium or long term goal depending on what’s in your plan. With this in place, you’re working with the resources within your possession at the moment while putting things in place for your long term goals. Don’t get pressurized by anyone to move into Video Content when you know it’s not yet part of your immediate content marketing priorities. Do it when you’re ready. So what is the best form of Content for your audience? https://www.victorwinners.com/why-blog-posts-are-the-best-form-of-content-for-new-bloggers/ |
A lot of bloggers, SEOs and content marketers have wondered what’s going to be the biggest SEO trends in 2020. If you’re one of those bothered about SEO outlook for 2020 then your worries are legit… Because SEO will still play a huge role in the success of your website, Content Marketing and online business. And with recent changes in search algorithm like the NLP, BERT etc, there’s going to be even more changes. If you could notice it, this year, page loading speed was officially made a ranking factor in Google SERP. Same with semantics, featured snippets and others. So in the face of changing Google algorithm and search engine ranking factors, these are the SEO trends to look out for in 2020… 1. Optimize for Local Search Local Search Engine Optimization has helped a lot of new businesses get featured on Google search more prominently. According to Google, 46 percent of all search results have local intent. This wasn’t so a few years ago. Right now, with the proper keywords and optimized Listing of your business page on Google my business, your business will be featured on Google maps and other local search and you can get direct traffic back to your website. This is only going to get better in 2020. A lot of new businesses are going to get the chance to get features at spectacular spots on Google maps. If you’re yet to have your business profile listed on Google My Business then you’ll want to get that done now. 2. Understand Google’s BERT. BERT, AKA, Bid Directional Encoders Representations, is Google’s latest attempt at using Natural Language Processing to deliver better results for Google users based on their search intent. With the coming of Google’s BERT update, many things have changed in the SEO world. The idea about BERT is for Google to have better understanding of the intent behind search queries and the context of a particular post… Thus, with the existence of BERT, there will be less reliance on Keywords optimization… Because, beyond keywords, context, semantics and user intent will be used in determining what search result to put up. With BERT, even some well optimized posts may not show up on Google. So, more than focusing on keywords, you’ll want to target semantics, synonyms, LSI keywords etc in your posts. Pay more attention to your semantics and content analysis rather than focusing on keywords optimization. Continue to target featured snippets! Featured Snippet remains one of the best ways to take up more search real estate and dominate your competitors in the SERPs. 3. Create Better Content. Despite recent algorithm changes, content still plays a very important role in search engine optimization. For your content to get better rankings, you’ll have to focus on writing not just fresh content but the best content in your niche. A well written and promoted content will help you get back links and an improved ranking on Google. 4. Write Long form Content. Long form content has usually been one of the best ways to get better and widespread long tail keywords across your content. A long form content will help you use as much keywords, target semantics and LSI within your content. When this is done right, you’ll be able to generate a decent amount of traffic to your website. Also, you can take your well performing content, enlarge it, make it better, more thorough and continue to get even more traffic from the post. 5. Include video content on your blog and website. As usual, video content is still going to be on the rise especially in some target geopolitical regions. Instead of focusing on written content alone, expand to video content also. You can use one content and transform them into different forms including written content, audio and videos. 6. Improve your user experience. With the current updates to Google algorithms, user experience has once again become an important ranking factor. In 2020 you don’t just need a very beautiful website. You need a website that delivers a great user experience for your users. Factors like your loading speed will play a role in your search rankings. Also, the structural design of your website should help users navigate the website very easily. This are all aimed at enhancing a user’s stay on your website thus reducing bounce rates. 7. EAT will still be an important ranking factor. Google’s recent ranking update EAT (Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness) will still mark an important ranking factor in Google search in 2020. Some niches like Medicals and Finance among others will demand a lot of expertise, trust and authoritativeness from the writers before such posts can rank. For this reason, if you’re writing on this niche, instead of focusing on ranking, focusing on building expertise and trustworthiness for your brand. This will help you rank faster. 8. Use structured data to answer frequently asked questions on your blog. Here’s where we’ll stop on top SEO trends in 2020 and actionable steps to take. Remember, search engine is going to be as dynamic as ever hence it’s in your place to evolve as the algorithms keeps evolving. https://www.victorwinners.com/seo-trends-for-2020/ |
One of the reasons a your blog is not making money despite your traffic is because you’re getting the wrong traffic to your blog. Most of your traffic is coming from all the wrong places. From a country that is not a part of your target audience to a particular demographic that does not have the money to buy your products or service, there are so many reasons why your blog isn’t making money. Now, let’s get this cleared out first… It is one thing to have a Blog, another thing to have traffic and yet another thing to have a traffic that is converting into paying customers. Normally, with some decent traffic, you can always make money with your blog. But to get maximum output, you have to focus on getting the kind of traffic that can become customers. Now let’s digress a bit… One of the main reasons most blogs do not make money is because most bloggers focus on getting traffic to their blog without considering the kind of traffic that can actually make money for them. This is why to avoid this mistake as a blogger, besides focusing on getting traffic to your blog, it is also important you focus on getting the kind of traffic that can actually convert into buying clients. If you’re not doing this then you may be wasting your time. How to target traffic that can generate revenue for your blog 1. Research and Target the right audience You can’t make money with your blog if you don’t figure out the exact audience that can buy your product or services and then be able to target them properly This is why it is very important for you to do your research before starting out blogging. By research I mean understanding why you want to blog in the first place. And then getting out a strategy that will help you achieve your purpose. Doing your research helps you understand the process and steps you can take to achieve your goal. In the process of doing your research, you’ll get to know the topics that will work for you and the blogging themes that will help you rank for your targeted keywords. So when you put all these things in place you’ll be able to get started the right way. You’ll be able to know the right marketing strategy to use for your blog. 2. Decide the length of your blog posts and posting intervals Now when you’re done with setting up your blogging goals, strategy etc, the next thing for you to do is to decide how long your post is going to be. So deciding on the kind of posts that will be needed on your blog, the posting intervals, and the length of the posts will give you a clear idea on how you’re going to get the traffic over to your blog. For instance to get a better result, you could be working on posting a mix of long and short content forms. So if you’re posting long form content of about 3000 words and above, that could help you target long tail keywords which will help you rank better on Google Search. On the other hand with a shorter content of around 700- 1000 words, you could keep getting fresh content at shorter intervals and these will also help your blog rank even better. A combination of these two content styles will help you garner a decent amount of consistent traffic. 3. Set up a post creation strategy and optimize for the Search Engine Like i mentioned earlier, one of the reason most bloggers are not making money with their blogs is because their content is not properly optimized and they don’t have any posting strategy. After deciding on your post length and blog posting intervals, the next thing for you to do is to focus on preparing your blog post for both your audience and the search engine. for your blog post, you could settle for a text post, audio or a video content. Decide on the format that suits your audience. Be sure that you get your post optimized for the search engines with all necessary keywords before publishing it. 4. Choose a social media platform with the right target audience After optimizing your post, the next things for you is to focus on the particular platforms you want to reach so you can get targeted traffic to your blog. Besides getting organic traffic from Google the social media and a few other platforms can help you get optimized traffic back to your blog. But you can’t focus on all the social media platforms if you want to get a really targeted audience to your blog so you’ll have to choose where to focus your social media marketing in order to generate adequate results If you are looking for an audience that can pay for a particular service, decide to focus on specific groups on social media or particular social media platform with that kind of audience. Where you are also looking for a specific niched traffic you can decide to partner with other successful blogs in that particular niche and get the traffic back to your site. On the other hand, you can guest-blog on their popular websites with your targeted audience or have your post shared to their audience via social media etc. If you do it very well you definitely going to make a headway with your blog. Now another thing that stops most bloggers from making money with their blogs is the platform they share their stuff. This is very important. Do not go about sharing your blog posts on forums or social media platform that do not have the kind of audience you want… Because it is suicidal. Work on knowing the exact kind of audience that will be interested in your product, get their data and find out matching platforms to target them. This is one of the easiest ways to find a warm audience you can convince to buy from you. 5. Understand your priority Finally, you’ll also have to understand the three basic goals of every blogger… To get traffic, to get popular or make money fast. Understand which of this is of priority to you. If your priority is to make money fast blogging then you’ll have to get the kind of audience that can convert real fast. If you want to get popular or just get good traffic then know that the strategies will be slightly different. Here you can focus on getting just any kind of traffic thus you can you can partner with or share your posts on any kind of bloggers. I’m sure you learned why your blog isn’t making money after all your effort? So, how will you fix this? https://www.victorwinners.com/blog-is-not-making-money/ |
Instagram is expanding its test with removal of likes count across many countries, including the USA. The impact of removing Instagram likes is that your total “like count” on Instagram posts will be removed from public view (That's if it has not been removed already) although you will still see the likes from the back end. Why Instagram is removing the Instagram Likes Count The official explanation by Instagram is that the company wants users to focus more on the photos and videos shared on the platform, not the number of likes”. Also as part of an excuse in support of hiding likes count on Instagram is that the new design is a response to criticisms that the platform doesn’t support mental health of users thus removal of likes will reduce unnecessary competition, envy and low self-esteem fueled by vanity metrics and other factors. Despite Instagram's own official position, a lot of critics are of the opinion that the Tech Company's action is not necessarily altruistic but a tactic by the social media giant to generate more profit by reducing a number of advertisements promoted by influencers and getting a share of the 3.7 million influencer ads back to Instagram through direct Instagram ads… Especially since Instagram is not making any direct profit from Influencer Marketing. Others are also of the opinion that the changes will genuinely benefit Instagram users as removal of likes will create a more level playing field for beginners to grow their brand with real high quality content. In My Opinion, none of these arguments is incorrect! Impact of the removal of Instagram likes and how it will affect influencers and influencer marketing in Nigeria? As a marketer or influencer, the removal of Instagram likes feature has a potential to affect you in any of the following ways… Reduction in the total number of likes: With the successful test run of the removal of likes in some countries since May 2019, a lot of Influencers are already recording a lower number of total likes for their posts. This may not be unrelated to the fact that sometimes, a large number of likes on any post encourages even more people to like or share the particular post. Call it bandwagon effect. More Brands will advertise with Instagram directly. For Instagram influencers, your Instagram likes can illustrate the value you add to a brand. With the removal of likes, and a reduction in total number of likes, a lot of influencers will not have a huge number of vanity metrics to show off thus there will be a reduction in patronage as potential brand advertisers will now prefer to advertise with Instagram directly as compared to Instagram influencers whose stats may stop being much encouraging. Increased time in spent in creation of high quality posts. Ordinarily, this shouldn’t be a problem… But the current Instagram thrives on popular/viral. These posts may not necessarily be high quality posts. This culture has allegedly kept such posts style repeatedly shared across the platform so that people are more focused on creating posts that can get viral more than what can really add value to the end user. With the removal of Instagram likes, you’ll have to spend more time producing thoughtful and high quality post to end users. Most Newbies and small businesses will have the chance to get new followers. With high quality posts, it will be possible for new users to steadily build a followership base. Compared to what it was before where users with most likes were the ones that easily have their posts go viral and thus gain even more likes and followers, the removal of Instagram likes will democratize the process, giving new users and smaller businesses a chance at growing their Instagram pages with high quality content. Also, if you're a smaller and upcoming influencer, People will now be able to follow you based on your content, not your popularity. Now, considering the foregoing, it is easy to suggest that the successful removal of likes by Instagram is most likely a preview of the future of the like economy and its effect on digital marketing. With Instagram and Facebook owned by the same company, it’s most likely that Facebook will join in the removal of likes. Already, there are existing speculations that Facebook will soon test the removal of Facebook likes on its own platform. You should be bothered! Not because your followers won’t see the total like count on your post. But because as an Influencer, your prospective clients won’t be able to personally verify if promoting their ads on your platform is even worth it. And who knows, in the future, the company could come up with a plan where you’d have to pay for your followers to see the total number of likes for an Instagram post. So what can you do? With the gradual removal of likes one thing you as an Instagram influencer or digital marketer will ask yourself should be, what can I do? The following are things you should consider doing… Brace up for even more changes. Although the removal Instagram of likes feature is currently on a test run in selected countries, according to Instagram, eventually, it will be rolled out globally. This is why it’s important you get ready to be affected by this if you’re not affected already. So you have to brace up for possible innovations like paying to get your likes shown, Instagram removal of followers count or even introduction of a premium account where you pay before your total number of followers and likes to be shown publicly. Be ready to produce even more innovative and quality content. With Instagram shifting its focus to deeper engagement, instead of producing viral posts, you’ll want to focus your marketing strategy on producing more high quality and engaging content if you’re going to maintain your likes and followers. Diversify. Away from being an Instagram influencer, you should be able to use your platform to promote other causes that will generate even more income for you. If you’re an Instagram model with a large following for instance, you could see this as a time to consider launching your own brand, getting into acting or related acts or partnering with brands across online and offline platforms. For others, you can diversify to learn new digital marketing skills that you can gradually introduce to your existing audience. This is really a time to think beyond your Instagram handle. Get your platform One. thing with most social media platforms is that even when these platforms can easily get you an audience, the platforms are usually owned by others and these people have their agenda. For this reason, they will always give more regard to their business interests above every other thing which may make them introduce changes that will always affect you as a user. This is why in response to this; the smart thing to do as an Influencer is to use the platform to build your audience while also building your own website at the same time and getting your audience over there. With your personal website where you can always influence the way things go and at all times. Instead of waiting for a complete roll out of Instagram likes removal, begin to build your own website and promote it with your existing audience. Be more intentional about your post and the result you want. Again, with this new Instagram changes, there’s need to be more intentional about the effect of your post on your audience, instead of whether the post goes viral or not. To keep and grow your followers on Instagram you’ll want to be more focused on engaging and building an even deeper connection with your followers. In conclusion, as a smart digital influencer, remember these popular social media platforms are very dynamic so there’ll always be changes at intervals. For this reason, your long term goal should always be focused on building a platform that will help you to stop depending entirely on third party platforms like Instagram. So, how’s the removal of Instagram likes affecting you? https://www.victorwinners.com/removal-of-instagram-likes-2/ |

Congratulations to her. So well deserved |
Are you a writer with the need to create more content in limited time? Then this post is for you. These are some of the strategies I've used in my over 5 years of blogging and Content Marketing and they will be useful for you. These are easy content marketing tips that will help you create in-depth content for your audience… Now let's get started... 1. Understand there’s writer’s block. Having an idea on what to write about is one of the biggest limitations of most content writers. Especially the new ones. As a Content Creator, you have to understand that great Content Marketing thrives on great ideas and that there are days you’ll have scarcity of ideas that can really fly. Most times this is not about you. There is always a combination of factors that lead to Writer’s block and scarcity of ideas which can reduce the amount of content you create. But, when you know that such times like this exists you can begin to prepare for it in advance. For instance, if you're too busy, get at least a content summary set up for a later time where you'll put it down. With this, you can’t be taken unawares and it'll be easier for you to develop on the content when you have ample time. 2. Simplify your Content Creation process. Another tip to create more content with less time is to simplify your writing process. Here’s why… So many times, the reason it looks like you’re having a writer’s block is because you’re feeling all overwhelmed. You sit down to consider the process of writing a blog post which would include finding the right keywords, researching the keywords, creating the content, checking up suitable pictures (if it’s text content) etc. These tasks can be overwhelming if you don’t have enough time. So to simplify things, you’ll need to reduce your content creation process by cutting off some unnecessary activities in some posts during content ideation. You don’t have to research keywords or write a very lengthy post at all times. For some posts, you can focus on doing a brief research and then start writing right away. As you keep writing or when you're done with the writing process, you can continue the research for linking purposes etc. 3. Write the way you speak. If someone asked you about a tip on how to create more content with less time, I’m sure you’ll not tell the person to wait so you can check Google before you answer the question. You’ll most likely answer them instantly, with the idea in your head. So why do you have to wait to carry out hours of research before writing some blog posts because you want to authenticate your ideas? You don't need long detailed posts all the time. If your your focus is on producing more content at less time then you'll need a sort of mix content marketing process where you'll be able to produce long detailed posts and short, straight-to-the-point kind of posts on the same blog at intervals. Sometimes you’ll have to go ahead write the same way you’d talk to your kid sis if she asked you about how to write more blog posts at less time. Here you don’t try to sound bombastic or too much of an authority. You let out the real authentic content as it is in your head. Remember sometimes people even prefer these kinds of content. Because it usually sound more genuine and down to earth. 4. Don’t try to sound like an expert be the expert. Trying to sound like an expert or some super authority will demand you put in more work, hours and days to research the content, back it up with data and fact, make videos, add pictures and all other embellishment that will make it look really great. Doing all these demands more writing hours and in-depth research. When you write a blog post like you’re writing to your friend you get straight to the point with the important information they need to know. With this, you lose the need to sound over-the-top or embellish your posts with unnecessary facts. This in turn helps your brain see how simple the stuff actually is. This reaction from your brain gets you fired up to work and you produce more content in less time. A lot of successful content producers like Seth Godin, Gary Vaynerchuk and many others are doing this successfully well. 5. Have a Content Calendar. This is about one of the simplest ways to produce enormous content with less time. As a content marketer you need a Content Calendar. Your Content Calendar will go a long way in helping you fulfill your content marketing goals. Beyond that, It will also help you fix the issue of writer’s block because at all times you’ll already have pre written topics which you need to develop and work with thus keeping a sustained pace of content creation. This gets your work really simplified. 6. Document your content. One of the easiest ways to have enough content created at less time is to document your content creation. Documenting entails producing the content as it happens without necessarily having pre-recorded scripts. One of the biggest proponents of Documenting content is Gary Vaynerchuk. According to him, documenting is one of the core Content Marketing strategies he used in building his multi-million dollar wine business on YouTube. Documenting is more like telling the story about your business or whatever you’re marketing exactly as it happens. It works a lot for selected kinds of content. With this, you don’t have the need to embellish the post in a certain way. Or look for things to write about. Instead, you focus on what’s happening around the business and putting it up in a way your reader can get value from it. 7. Use speech to text tool over typing. Sometimes talking is far easier than writing. This is why in order to save time, most content creators record their content or speak to a text-to-speech device which translates their recorded conversations into written text. This works in helping you create even more content with far less time. Personally, I’ve found out that recording your content before typing or developing them further really helps a lot in saving time and enriching the content. Because whenever you come back to listen to the recorded audio, there’s always a fresh idea or perspective to add to it. That’s how far I’ll go in today’s 7 tips to create more content with less time… Always remember, there’s an increasing need to create more content at less time. And you can always learn how to go about that. So as a content marketer with very limited time, how do you create more content? https://www.victorwinners.com/more-content-in-less-time/ |
Are you aware of Google’s BERT update? BERT means Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers. It is one of the biggest algorithm changes to search engine optimization in the last 5 years… And it’s affecting 10 percent of all search queries, according to Google. This is how it happens… BERT, a learning algorithm related to Natural Language Processing works with the Rankbrain, Google’s foremost machine learning technology, to match up search requests that deliver intent based search results for Google users. The idea about BERT is for Google to better understand the intent and context behind each search query you make on Google. So, with BERT, Google wants to match a searcher’s intent with what they are searching for whenever they make searches online. With BERT, Google wants to be able to take search beyond what is being typed into the search engine, to getting the intention of the searcher without much considerations for typos or errors. Now, this means that if someone types in a search query like CAN YOU GET MEDICINE FOR SOMEONE PHARMACY, Google can now understand what the user means is CAN YOU GET MEDICINE FOR SOMEONE AT A PHARMACY? Before BERT, such search query would actually bring up medical prescriptions etc… The results would be largely determined by what was typed into the search engine. But with the coming of BERT Update, Google will now understand that the searcher intends to know if medicine can be gotten for someone and will therefore answer the question and send in the appropriate search result. How will BERT affect Content Marketing? In a nutshell, here’s how BERT will affect SEO and Content Marketing… 1. Keywords alone will not determine page rankings as it used to. Despite the keyword a person types into the search engine, if your content contextually relates to that keyword, your web page will still be able to rank based on the searcher’s intent. 2. BERT will enable Google to Match search results with user intent. With this improvement, typos and grammatical errors will not affect search result as much as it used to. This is because instead of organizing your search result based on the previously used Google’s word for word understanding of search queries, BERT models can now consider the full context of a word by looking at the words that comes before and after it then matching same to understand context. This innovation will definitely affect the use of keywords, especially long tail keywords. 3. With the coming of BERT and a better understanding of search queries, search snippets will change. This is even as Google will get better at matching the correct snippet with each search query. How BERT will impact SEO Keywords 4. Less Keyword, More Semantics. With the rolling out of BERT, keywords will gradually be losing its prominence as one of the most important page ranking factors. As Google gets more detailed with BERT, search results and rankings will now shift to focus more on semantics and the concepts behind an idea than on the keywords used on a web page. With this update, LSI keywords will be more effective in content marketing and SEO, compared to using ordinary keywords repeatedly in a web page. So if you’re writing content about Google Algorithm Update for instance, to get that content to rank properly, you’re not just going to give a passing mention of the key term with heavy keywords optimization, you’re going to be straight to the point, write richer content and focus on making your work better than others. You’re going to have to pay more attention to your semantics and topic analysis rather than focusing entirely on keyword research. With BERT, poorly written content that don’t answer specific questions will not be featured In search results, notwithstanding the keywords contained in such posts. With the advent of BERT, it is most likely that the use of Schema markup of web pages will help Google understand and rank web pages much better especially contextually. In a nutshell, the latest Bidirectional Endcoder Representations from Transformers aka BERT update from Google is an attempt to understand the user intent while searching, filter out typos from affecting search results and provide more relevant results to Google users. Of course BERT may look like all shades of negative for content creators but Neil Patel believes that even if you may lose some search ranking after the BERT update, you’ll still gain at the end of the day as BERT’s understanding of context search will help in sending better targeted traffic to your website. This will reduce bounce rates, leading to a higher possibility for more conversions. In conclusion, if you’re going to take anything from here, I want you to take this home, with the gradual deployment of NLP, semantic search is going to define the future of search and the search engine. Content Marketing has changed! From an amateur process of updating blog posts in the early 2000s, in 2019, Content Marketing is driving sales and helping businesses reach their goals. So, are you ready for these changes? Thing is, no matter how prepared you are for the shift in Content Marketing, you can never be completely ready. That’s why, In today’s post, I’m sharing with you, 21 content marketing tips every new content marketer needs to know in 2020 below… 1. Get a website. This is obvious. As a serious content marketer, the number one content marketing tip you need above all is to get a website. You’ll need a website to push across your content marketing and client acquisition process. There’s no argument on that. At some point, people would probably tell you, you can start pushing out your content marketing effort on a social media platform. This is not a terrible idea. But, you can only start with the social media, if you’re not serious about building a formidable brand and platform as a content marketer. Otherwise, owning a website will help you in building your audience and getting them right over to where you can get their data and control your interactions with them. And even if you’re on a budget, there are places you can start hosting your first website at a very cheap rate. 2. Map out your Keywords. What keywords do you want to rank for? This is a good question to answer if you’re just starting out on Content Marketing. If you’ve always been there, then you probably have to audit your website keywords. Find the ones that’s been ranking. And check where you can improve on them if necessary. After that you can work on mapping out a combination of long and short tail Keyword related to the niche you want to rank for. Then create pages and posts with which you’re going to target these keywords. SEO Tools like Ubersuggest could help you generate better keywords for your content marketing. 3. Fix your website SEO. You won’t believe that despite how important website SEO has recently become, so many content marketers are getting it all wrong. To appear in search engine for particular keywords, you need to set up these keywords for certain pages on your website, get back links to those pages and get more people to visit and share them. Things like this will in the long run improve your web rankings and establish your authority. 4. Set up your Content Marketing Goal. A lot of content marketers do not have a content marketing goal. In fact, from research, Co-schedule believes this makes up about 26 percent of Content Marketers do not have a specific goal for their content marketing effort. Thing is, it’s not difficult to set up a content marketing goal. You can start with asking yourself the question…’’What do I want to achieve with my content marketing effort?” Your answer here should help you map out your content marketing goal. So if you’re a new marketer that is out to get more traffic, this should be part of your content marketing goals. At the end of the day, your marketing goals will shape your content marketing strategy. 5. Set up a Content Strategy. Again, even when this is really obvious, content marketers skip it a lot. How can you write and share posts without having a specific intent for the post? Having a content marketing strategy is still one of the best content marketing tips out there and one of your surest bet to achieve your goals as a content marketer… Especially when it comes to writing posts that will take the client all through the journey to the main buying process. If you’re a realtor for instance, your content marketing strategy should cover areas from contents that introduces the reader to your business, to content that shows them about buildings, right through to other content that focuses on buildings that will appeal to your audience. Your content strategy should spell out specific outcomes for your content posting activities. 6. Try other content forms. Another important content marketing tip every new content marketer needs to know is trying other content forms. This is because, sometimes one content style gets boring. At other times, technology could evolve to other content forms. So you don’t have to keep posting one form of content. Again, at some point, trying out different forms of content will add diversity and some fresh new style to your content marketing effort. So if you’re posting basically text content, you may want to convert some of your posts to videos or audios and see how your audience reacts to it. This will give you a feel of your audience’s pulse and a better understanding of what works for them. 7. Create a content Calendar. A content calendar will help you get your content organized, giving your audience a flow of what they should expect of you, at every given point. It also works really well on your social media marketing platforms. Your content marketing goals should guide you towards creating a content calendar that will help you attain your content marketing goals realistically. 8. Update your content consistently. Posting consistently is important to you as part of your content strategy. If I’m your reader, I should be able to know days I can come to your website or other platforms and be able to see fresh content to read. Consistency builds trust, shows seriousness. 9. Fix your headline. In a bid to rush and get stuff published, most content marketers and bloggers usually forget to write a captivating and SEO rich headline. Thing is, just as the search engine needs an headline properly optimized for SEO, your readers also need a captivating headline to get you a better click through rate. Optimize your content headline for both humans and the search engine. This is one of the few content marketing tips you’ll ever get out there. 10. Use your content to guide your client through a journey that will lead to marketing. The fact you’ve identified a client doesn’t necessarily mean the client is ready to make a purchase from your blog instantly. Most times it’s usually a journey. Sometimes the journey might involve the client getting to Know, Like and Trust you before finally deciding to buy from you. At other times, it might involve, getting to show the client the need to even consider buying the product… This is why you’ll have to map your content to guide your buyer throughout the entire buying process until you get to the point they are ready to buy. 11. Customize each content Don’t write the first word in your content without having a clear audience persona in mind. This doesn’t just make writing the content more simplified; it makes the reader feel like you’re actually talking to her. Thus they are more able to relate to the piece of content. 12. Publish on other blogs. Guest posting is still very powerful. Especially in the era of Google’s EAT updates. With a good quality guest post, on reputable websites in your niche, you can build high quality backlinks back to your websites. The more of these backlinks you have, the more credibility you’re building for your blog. 13. Focus on quality over quantity. It’s true updating your website consistently can yield better rankings for your blog. But, it’s also true, to get even better ranks, your blog posts have got to be really top notch, detailed and of a huge value… So even when you want to keep your blog as fresh as possible, be sure to create really high quality posts instead of shallow low quality content. Alternatively, you can keep a routine of short and long detailed posts. The short contents will come in at intervals to ensure a continuous flow of content on your website while the longer and more detailed ones will help you target long tail keywords that will further drive traffic to your blog. 14. Create more re-purposed content. As you keep creating content, you’ll have more content that needs to be created in other formats. Instead of posting all your content as text for instance, you can focus on updating them specifically as audios, or videos and sharing them on platforms like YouTube etc. You can also merge posts to add some depth or chunk down some posts for easier understanding. 15. Update Old Content. With your Google analytics, you can find old posts that are doing really well on the search engine. Update these posts and get them up to date with relevant and latest information. You can start this by making searches on Google for keywords related to the particular content. Find recent content on similar topics to read and confirm if there are recent changes. Where there are recent industry changes, update same on your posts then confirm that all links are working. 16. Make it easy for your posts to be shared. Make your posts easily shareable on the social media by adding social share buttons to your website and blog posts. Beyond that, also encourage your readers to share your blog posts on their social media. You can do this through including simple Call to Action that encourages sharing at the end of each blog post. 17. Make your post easier to read and understand. Instead of using technical and complicated words in your content, focus on using simple and straightforward words users can easily understand. This makes your posts easier to digest and more interesting to read. 18. Understand Google Analytics A good understanding of Google analytics will help you in getting feedbacks from your content marketing effort. So from getting an idea on popular posts, to popular links etc, Google Analytics will help you understand where to focus more effort and other areas where you’ll have to re-strategize your content marketing effort. 19. Fix your website page speed. With the recent Google update, page speed has become a major search engine ranking factor. With this in place, expect it to become more difficult for web pages with slow loading speed to rank on the SERP. For this reason, besides your content marketing effort, from time to time, you’ll also want to test your website loading speed and find out if there’s need to boost things up. Google speed test tool could be really handy here. 20. Fix Broken Links With Google Search Console. A broken link can lead to a 404 page which will definitely affect your website rankings. Part of your content marketing effort should include working on and fixing your website broken links. The Google console will help you understand how your links are working. Where there’s a broken link you can set up a 301 redirect to the appropriate page without losing the link rank. Also as part of your link building strategy in content marketing, work on checking out in coming links to your website. Be sure the links are from credible sources hence you may want to disavow such links. 21. Analyze your web traffic channels. Tools like Google analytics should be able to show you your traffic sources and how they impact on your website and content marketing effort. With this, you’ll understand which traffic sources is what focusing more effort. And the ones that are not. At the end of the day, auditing your traffic sources will get you to generate better result from your marketing effort. Content is King. Data is the new Oil. These are statements you've probably heard so many times. Especially if you're a Netizen. What you'll hear less often is that Content is what makes data relevant. And that in a dynamic setting like the net, content and approaches are changing very fast and most times, this is dependent on people's taste and desires. These changes have kept people asking questions like, WHAT IS THE BEST FORM OF CONTENT FOR CONTENT MARKETING BEGINNERS? So If you were to choose between a well written blog post and an amateur video content what would you choose? This is usually my question to Content developers and Bloggers when I talk about Video Content and Content Marketing. Because so many people have lost it on this issue. Especially beginners. How can you focus on producing video content when you don’t really have the resources to produce high Quality videos, compared to the people you’re competing with? The problem i find wit this approach is that Running like this can only get you drained of all your motivation if you’re not careful. This is why I always advice new Bloggers and Content Developers against starting out as video content producers. I mean, it is not a bad thing to start out as a vlogger. A lot of things will always play out to decide if you’re ready to switch to video content. For instance your industry and the audience you’re targeting with your video content will have a role to play in determining your expenses and the quality that will be demanded of each video you produce. A super high end client that’s used to sophisticated video content for instance will not only see you and your video as amateur, they will always prefer the established persons in that Industry, especially where you’re a new entrant. So what can a new blogger do about video content? I was listening to Gary the other day in one of his videos and he kept focusing on documenting Video Content. Attendees raised issues like investment in background setting, Video Camera, Clothing for the video presentation etc. His reply to most of the observations was that these things don't really matter. Yeah i understand his point of view. Especially as a thought leader and established Content Marketer, that doesn't matter. And it won't matter if he's making the video in his bedroom or not. He's earned his credibility. So he can take many things for granted without people looking down on his brand. But, people do care, if you're a new brand starting out this way. Now here's the thing... As a new Blogger or Content Producer, If you have money to spend in producing high quality stuff, you can start producing Video Content as soon as you launch out your online platform. Compared to text content, all you need is write high quality content with loads of value. It is sad that today, a lot of influencers keep advising newbies to get into Video Content Marketing. Sometimes, without a clear strategy… Truth is, that’s BS. Everything has context. In this digital journey, everyone is not at the same level. So the fact video works for a competitor that's far ahead of you does not mean it will work for you as a beginner. Producing video content is a good thing to do but your video or text content is not part of what is going to determine if you’ll turn out as a successful content producer or blogger. What is important is that you engage yourself in activities that can sustain your inspiration and momentum while walking towards your goals. Don’t get pressurized by anyone to move into Video Content when you know it's not yet part of your immediate content marketing priorities. Do it when you're ready. So what is the best form of Content for your audience? https://www.victorwinners.com/why-blog-posts-are-the-best-form-of-content-for-new-bloggers/

Are you aware of the recent Google core updates? Most Bloggers, SEO specialist and web masters are not aware of this update. Some do not even realize there’s anything like Google core update. But can Google Core updates affect your website? Yes they do. And most times, it doesn't matter whether you're aware of such updates or not. You must have noticed a sustained fluctuation and changes to your website traffic at times when you check your Google analytics. Most of these changes in search traffic are often times caused by updates in Google algorithm. Now, in case you’re wondering, what is a Google algorithm update..? A Google algorithm update occurs when Google updates its core search engine ranking mechanism (algorithm) in order to generate better and more relevant search result for Google users. These updates take place at certain intervals a year, as Google deems fit. Sometimes it can lead to major fluctuations in search results for certain websites. At other times, you hardly even notice there’s any Google update. There have been different versions of Google core update from 2011 till date but in this post I’ll focus on the Google speed update of 2018 and the recent Google core update of September 2019. Ok. So In July 2018, Google made a major speed update, targeted at mobile search. Prior to this period, my website always returned 85-92 results whenever I run a mobile speed test for the site. Some months after the Google Speed Update, I noticed the website had dropped to 23 points. Such a huge drop right? That’s not all. In order to find out if it was just my website that was affected, I tested a few other websites and I noticed a particular website that tanked from 75-3. Yes 3. This result really affected my rankings before the net update. From about 5,000,000, I tanked down to 16 million in major rankings. Now, can you see the overwhelming result of the update? It was massive. It really hurt my blog until I figured a way out to fix most of the issues. Again, In September 2019, Google rolled out another update called September 2019 Core Update. There were other updates in between but we’ll focus on this in this post. So the September update according to Google was aimed at providing more relevant and authoritative content to users. This is how they spelled it out in one of the paragraphs… “Several times a year, we make significant, broad changes to our search algorithms and systems. We refer to these as “core updates.” They’re designed to ensure that overall, we’re delivering on our mission to present relevant and authoritative content to searchers. These core updates may also affect Google Discover.” As part of the effect of this update, Google also mentioned this… We confirm broad core updates because they typically produce some widely notable effects. Some sites may note drops or gains during them. We know those with sites that experience drops will be looking for a fix, and we want to ensure they don’t try to fix the wrong things. Moreover, there might not be anything to fix at all. Now here’s a thing… with these updates, some websites will gain better rankings on the search engine. Some lose out too. Personally, I noticed some favorable changes in my website rankings, just around the time the September updates started rolling in. With this, I embarked on some SEO strategy. This further helped as I was able to see improved rankings. Notwithstanding, after each major algorithm updates by Google, websites do notice either some negative or positive fluctuations in their web traffic and rankings… But, according to Google, this does by no means signify that a website is not performing well. They believe it’s more like a reshuffling. And sometimes this is exactly what it is. As some algorithm update may bring up websites with fresh content that were hardly noticeable in search results while pushing down others that have always been there. So how does this new Google algorithm update concern you as a Website owner, SEO Specialist or blogger? The following are ways the recent Google Core Update will affect you and your website. 1. More emphasis will be placed on User Experience. With the recent Google update, User Experience has once again become an important ranking factor. Based on this, your website will not just be ranking for keywords anymore. A lot has been put in place to calculate your rankings based on other parameters, including your loading speed. This means that the faster your website loads, the easier it would be for you to get a better rank, on the SERP page. The implication of this is that web designers will have to do away with fanciful designs that focuses on beautifying a website, at the expense of user experience. How to improve your web loading speed after the Google Update of September 2019 You may ask yourself, why should I leave my fanciful design for a leaner web design? Truth is, even if Google wouldn’t make it a ranking factor, the longer it takes a website to load, the more the bounce rate you get.Google September 2019 update and how it affects your blog So it’s important to keep your website loading at a reasonable speed. Now, one of the implications of the latest Google update is that you you’ll have to keep your website loading at a better speed if you really want to get better search results. To improve your loading speed, you’ll have to sacrifice your fanciful and high resolution images, emojis and even videos if they are hosted on your website/blog. You’ll need to focus more on a lean design with capacity for reduced loading period. And there will be need to use the Next Generation image formats to replace higher resolution images. This will boost your website loading speed. If you’re using a Content Management System like WordPress etc, you may have to work on minimizing your JS and CSS scripts rendering, thankfully, there are plugins for this. Finally, you’ll also have to work on using a CDN to manage your pictures. There is a handful of Content Delivery Network around. You can start with one of the free options if you’re on a budget. Otherwise you can patronize the premium service at a price. In conclusion, like it or not, Google is still the major search engine when it comes to getting search results and organic traffic for your blog. For this reason, there’s a need to be on the safe side with Google updates if you really want to keep having improved search rankings for your website. To do this, you’ll want to test your website compatibility with some of the content guidelines as issued by Google itself. Now, the following link would help you as you work on getting your website to comply with the latest Google algorithm updates in 2019… Use this link to test your website speed. The information published there will get you to know how your website ranks and what you can do to have an improved loading speed if necessary. This other link contains the Google content quality rater guidelines and EAT. You can read through it to have an idea about the content quality Google expects of you. So there you have it. Google core updates 2019 and how it affects your blog. In my next post, i’ll be writing about the recent BERTH update and how it’ll affect your website’s content. Got questions, let’s hear you. https://www.victorwinners.com/google-core-update-2019/

Can I shock you? The thing that makes people read your blog is not the fact that you’re so great at blogging. There are so many people out there that are really REALLY good bloggers too. Sometimes, without as much readers as you have. Even when they blog better than you. In fact, to be honest, people are already overwhelmed with good stuff. So the question now is more about what makes a blog different more than whether the blogger can write or speak really well. I’m sure you can see this everyday. Especially with brands like Apple, Samsung etc. Those two are not just two good tech brands, you can differentiate them easily. That’s why you’ll always choose one over the other. In today’s episode of 7 tips to become a successful blogger in 2020, I’ll show you how to define your a USP, make your blog stand out and become a successful blogger. Before we go further, a Unique Selling Proposition is a particular characteristics that differentiates one product from the other. Now, let’s digress a bit… What exactly makes readers keep coming back to read your blog? Have you ever thought about a question like this? Well, whether you’ve thought about this before or not, here’s the answer… What makes your readers keep coming back to read your blog is because you provide huge value for them in a very unique way they can connect with. This makes you different. Your audience’s perception of your difference could be based on anything actually. It could be based on the fact that you write in a certain way, offer a certain kind of value or appeal to them in a specific way that makes them connect to you and your blog in a way that always makes them want to come back for more. And the more they keep coming back to read your blog, the more you stand a better chance to become a really successful blogger… Because truth be told, each successful blog needs a very wide reach. Now, take a look at two successful bloggers and influencers like Seth Godin and Gary Vaunerchuk for instance… Both guys are damn successful but they still have a unique audience they appeal to at all times. That’s not because one knows how to blog better than the other both have some unique attributes that attracts a certain kind of readers and followers to them. Alright, I’m sure this point is clear. So like I mentioned earlier, your audience keeps coming back because you’re different. This difference is what sets you apart from the crowd. It is what is called your unique selling point. So as a blogger or content marketer, what exactly is your unique selling point? Have you thought about this before? A unique selling point or USP is simply a Statement, Style or VALUE you embody which shows clearly through your brand in a way that people with such leanings can relate to it. Let me tell you a story… When I started blogging, I wanted to be able to inspire newbies to understand that blogging can be done without stress. So i decided to focus on taking up large concepts and explain them in simple ways to an audience that just started out to blog so they can read and understand without much hassle. That’s how SIMPLICITY became one of my unique selling point as a blogger.. Again, when I ventured into Website Design and Development, all I really wanted to do was to inspire clients to build businesses. Not just websites. I wanted to empower them bring their dreams to life. This mission shaped everything I did, From the clients I targeted to the kind of services I rendered. And even the fees I charged for my web design services. In a nutshell, your unique selling point will affect everything about your blog or digital business success. But how can you understand your unique selling point and become successful with blogging? The first step to find your unique selling point and become a successful blogger starts with your VISION. So why do you want to blog? What motivates you to wake up and keep punching those keyboards, every single day? And how can you use this to build tribes that can connect with your vision? When this is fixed, it becomes easier to define the USP that will clearly define your brand. Another thing is understanding your audience and how your USP can appeal to them. So if what motivates you to start blogging is to help mothers understand child upbringing then you’ll understand your target audience. When this is done, next thing is to find a way you’re going to connect with them in a way that makes you unique. Here’s an example… Let’s say you’re a blogger with a good sense of humor and your blogging niche is one that demands a lot of boring seriousness in your articles before you can pass across a message to your audience. Instead of going the usual way everyone else is doing, you can decide to infuse humor into your blogging and still pass across your message in a way they feel happy to read it. Same thing goes if you’re a business. For example, if you’re a Graphics designer or Website Designer like I am you could decide to be different… Where you find out everyone is targeting small businesses you decide to target smaller businesses in a particular niche… With this you define your brand and go ahead to customize your business, your blogging style and marketing strategies exclusively for this kind of businesses. One of the core benefits of doing this is that it also gives you lots of leverage. As a blogger with an already cut out USP, you can innovate as far as creativity can take you, curate from other niches and add your brand, giving your audience a new dimension to an existing concept. With such consistent innovativeness, there’s no way your audience won’t come back to read from your blog. As a close, one thing you want to know is that the blogosphere is fed up with regurgitated content. Almost everything has been written. So users need a whole new dimension to content they read online. And this is where your USP comes in. At the end of the day, the more your audience can connect to your content, the more their chances of joining your tribe and becoming ambassadors for your brand. Here’s where we’ll end today. Remember having a USP is very important in helping you define yourself and your brand. https://www.victorwinners.com/7-tips-to-become-a-successful-blogger-in-2020-define-your-usp/ cc. lalasticlala mynd44 |
It's 2020. You're asked to choose between BLOGGING and CONTENT MARKETING, What would you choose? I'm sure it would be a tug of war choosing one out of the two. Especially down here in Nigeria. Because most people think both are one and the same thing. But here's what it is. Defining it loosely, Content marketing is an advanced form of blogging. And as a blogger, in 2020, one powerful tool to use in building a more successful blog would be content marketing. Now the question is, are you ready for this shift? Today’s episode of 7 top skills to become a successful blogger in 2020, will be focused on how you can use content marketing to build a successful blog. Here we go… So most new bloggers think one can wake up any day and start blogging about anything and the audience would just come around. This is a misconception that needs to be corrected if you really want to succeed with your blogging. Now, first things first… If you’re concerned about blogging and getting huge success with your blog, you must move from a mere blogger to a better content marketer… Because, blogging has evolved. Now, here’s what it I mean… Blogging is serious business. And bloggers are now using blogs to drive their business hence there is a big shift from what it used to be. So unlike years back where anyone can come up with a mediocre news blog that gets rank with some black hat SEO tricks, today things have changed. This is why you keep getting questions like, IS BLOGGING DEAD? But the truth still remains, Blogging isn’t dead. Blogging has only evolved so if you’re yet to move with the trend, blogging could be dead to you. Ok. Going back to our question... As a blogger, how can you use content marketing to build a successful blog? Why should you care to become a content marketer? Here’s it… A Content marketer is responsible for researching, creating and sharing valuable content in order to yield a specific outcome. A blogger on the other hand is responsible for updating a weblog. He/ she could update it for news information, personal experiences etc. So at the end of the day, Blogging is more of the basic job while Content Marketing is more purposeful and directed at a more specific outcome. As a blogger, you’ll have to move from blogging about anything just for blogging sake, to blogging about specific things, to a specific audience, and for a specific outcome… This is where the concept of Content Marketing comes in... And also, the business part of blogging. Moving from a mere Blogger to Content Marketer starts with a Mindset Shift. Meaning that when you get to this stage, you’ve moved from a hobby blogger to a professional, like an entrepreneur. The implication of this is that you now have a well-defined goal for your blogging. And every other blogging activity is done with this goal in mind. So at the end of the day you don’t just write stuff you feel like writing on the blog but as a content marketer, your goals now determines the kind of posts you update, the length of the post, your posting consistency and the platforms you’ll share each post. How to become a Badass content marketer and take your blog to the next level So you’ve seen reasons why you should up your game and become a Content Marketer if you really want to evolve a very successful blog… Now, the following are specific steps you should take to become a better Content Marketer with your Blog: 1. Research your audience. All internet users are not your target audience. This is the first thing you should know hence there’s need to define the kind of people that will most likely help you achieve your blogging goals then get them over to your blog. This will help you ensure you’re creating the right content to the right audience and also in ensuring you’re able to create content that clearly connects your reader’s benefits to their needs. Alright! So you can start this research by first understanding your blogging goals clearly and then asking yourself questions like: What problem does my product or services solve? Assuming you’re blogging to promote a product or service, you should be able to understand this clearly by relating the problem to the solution your product or services is providing. Who is my competition? This could be anyone in your own line of business. Understanding them clearly gives you an idea about your audience since they are already following and reading from this competitor. Especially where the competitor is well established. What does my audience stand to benefit from choosing me above my competitor? This is where a clear understanding of your unique selling point will be of great help in positioning your brand to attract a unique audience. I’ll discus a lot about unique selling point in a later part of this series. Alright… So when the above has been sorted out, you will now have a clearer understanding of the following: Why your content exists Who’s going to read your stuff What your competitor is doing currently and how you can take it to the next level and finally, Why your audience should choose you over your competition. Now this takes us to the next step… 2. Get a blogging Calendar. After you’ve laid out your purpose and blogging goals, the next thing on your list is to set out a clear content marketing calendar in line with the goals you listed. Your calendar could be yearly, quarterly or monthly. The goal is to cover everything necessary for your blogging success within that period. For instance if you intend to launch a new product or service within a certain part of the year, this should be captured within your blogging calendar and suitable posts proposed for it. Getting a blogging calendar would make your blogging a bit easier and more purpose driven. 3. Share on social media. Generally, not all social media attracts same audience demographics. Sometimes even within social media platforms, there are sub categories with more specific audiences. Focus on finding social media and sub groups with your relevant target audience. Find out how you can share your post to them in a way that will drive targeted traffic back to your blog. 4. Create exceptional value. Now you could say the concept of creating exceptional value is almost over rated. But truth is, to attract a loyal audience, you must keep creating exceptional value consistently. As someone looking at becoming an extremely successful blogger, there’s even an increasing need to create a very high value for your audience in a way that will not only distinguish you in your niche but keeps you as the go to person in that niche. This is going to make it more difficult for new domains to rank, compared to what it was before now... |
