Politics5 Things To Checkout For When Buying A Used Car by vicostyle20(op): 5:48pm On Oct 25, 2015

Though used cars do not come with guarantees, if you are patient and observant you will notice certain warning signs which will make you check other cars or perhaps another dealer.
So as to avoid buying cars you might regret, we have gathered 5 things to do when buying a used car;
1. Ensure you take the car on a test drive on both a local road and a highway so as to feel the performance of the car in both scenarios.

2. Make sure to check the interior upholstery carefully, along with any repairs to the exterior of the car.

3. Do a viable inspection for any leaking substances, any car that is leaking fluids is a red flag for a needed repair.

4. Have a mechanic to inspect and test the car again.

5. Check for reviews online on the make and model to uncover possible defects or common problems.

CelebritiesFlavour: I'm Not Ready For Marriage....after 2 Kids by vicostyle20(op): 1:10pm On Oct 23, 2015
Flavour welcomed a baby girl from former Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria Anna Banner in August
Famous highlife singer, Flavour has come out to say he is not yet ready to get married even though he has two babies from two women.

In an interview with My Joy Online, Flavour expressed why settling down now will be a bad idea for him.

“Marriage is a serious thing” he said, “it’s a decision that when you make it’s like you are in it or you are not so you don’t need to make the wrong decision. That’s the most important thing.”
“If you want to marry, for marrying sake then it doesn’t make sense. You are not defining marriage and because of the kind of job we do, I hardly stay at home so where am I going to have the time to give my family? So it is very difficult” he further stated.
Still speaking on the matter he disclosed that if he had a regular job, marriage would be no problem for him, but his schedule as an artiste would not permit that.
“If I was maybe a banker, a CEO of a company or some kind of job it would be very easy, because I would have just gone to work and return to my family every day. For almost two months now I have not been home so if I had a wife…what will be expected of me? That means I can’t go to work, I have to think about them because I can’t leave them lonely like that” he said.

PhonesNITEL Return With 4G Cheaper Data Services by vicostyle20(op): 9:22am On Oct 23, 2015
That awesome moment when you think Nitel is dead and gun for life, and you just woke up one morning seeing NITEL Advert again. The good news is Nitel is coming back with full force to take over the telecom industry. Not NITEL again but Nigerian Telecommunication (NTEL). This time around, NTEL will focus on Data services at the onset; maybe they've noticed people consumed data much than they make calls. However, NATCOM Consortium, the winner of the bid for the moribund Nigerian Telecommunications Limited, is planning to roll out services next month. The consortium will launch 4G Long Term Evolution Technology (LTE) services suggesting that the revamped NITEL may focus on data services from the outset. Come next month been November, 4G data services will be launch in Lagos, Abuja and Port-Harcourt before it will finally roll out to other states. I guess the return of NITEL will even make data more cheaper and other Telecom industry seat up. If you don't know, NITEL had broadband facilities that traversed the entire country and that once revived, it would boost transmission of broadband capacities from the shores of Nigeria to places in the hinterlands, where the demand is high. If your device is not 4G supported, then it's time to port with ease.

PoliticsSunday Oliseh Ill Again, Flown To Belgium by vicostyle20(op): 6:55am On Oct 23, 2015
https://static.pulse.ng/img/incoming/origs3953393/7865564099-w644-h429/Oliseh.jpg
Super Eagles’ head coach, Sunday Oliseh, has been airlifted to Belgium after falling ill on Thursday, October 22, in the team’s camp in Port Harcourt.
According to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officials, who made the announcement on Twitter, Oliseh became suddenly weak and dizzy after lunch.
“Coach Oliseh has returned to Belgium to continue treatment after being advised by Eagles medics. He became dizzy and weak after lunch on Thursday and he travels abroad tonight through the Port Harcourt Airport,” NFF officials wrote on the microblogging site.
However, Punch investigations revealed that, based on doctors’ recommendation, the NFF flew Oliseh to Belgium immediately for proper consultations with his personal doctor.
The ex-international is believed to have relapsed as he had been reported ill shortly after Nigeria defeated Cameroon 3-0 in a friendly match played in Brussels.
It was gathered that he was not expected to be present at the match in Port Harcourt, but surprisingly he arrived in the camp 24 hours to the game.
The nature of his illness has not been ascertained.
Oliseh would miss the Super Eagles clash with Burkina Faso on Sunday in the second match of the qualifier for the 2016 Championship for African Nations.

PoliticsSee The Only Governor Who’s Not Leaving Any Debt For His Successor by vicostyle20(op): 10:08am On May 13, 2015
https://static.pulse.ng/img/gist/origs3289241/9785566996-w644-h429/Ibrahim-Shema.jpg
At a time when most Nigerian states are in debt and even owing salaries, one Governor is said to be leaving his successor a clean slate.
Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema will reportedly leave the state debt-free when he vacates office on May 29, 2015.
This was revealed by former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu on Saturday, May 9, 2015, when Shema was being conferred with The Sun Outstanding Performance Exit Award in Lagos.
“We know Ibrahim as a very intelligent person and the best in our class and as someone who was very very meticulous and detailed in whatever he was doing. Within the last eight years, he has changed the face of government in Katsina,” Ribadu said.
“He is the only governor that is going to leave the office with no debt behind. He has paid all, including salaries of the workers of his state. We want to thank you for making us all proud. May God continue to be with you,” he added.
Shema will be succeeded as governor by former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Masari, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Health7 Natural Birth Control Methods You Probably Didn’t Know by vicostyle20(op): 7:58pm On May 12, 2015
For couples who are still sexually active and want to put off having babies for a while and don’t want to go the orthodox way…this should interest you.
Synthetic hormones in the contraceptive pill and IUDs have been proven to cause breast cancer, blood clots, weight gain, cramping, loss of libido and an inability to orgasm. Barrier methods such as the condom can prevent a feeling of pleasure and intimacy between both partners.
Fortunately there are natural birth control methods that are non-hormonal, non-mechanical, do not involve implants or artificial devices and don’t create barriers between you and your partner.
Here are the 7 ways to control birth naturally…

1 Temporary Sterilization with Heat
The men have got this one… It does however require willingness and responsibility from your man. If you and your partner plan to have a child sometime in the future and vasectomy is not an option right now, the following method can have him temporarily sterilized for a few months.
This method involves bathing or submerging the testicles in 116F (46.7C) water for 45 minutes a day for 21 days. The water is just below the pain threshold so he can physically withstand the sensation of intense heat. Remember, you need to continue adding more hot water during the process to keep it hot enough for the entire 45 minutes.
After the 21 days the man becomes reliably sterile for the next 6 months. Submerging the testicles in 110F (43.3C) water (less hot) for 21 days will also result in sterility for the next 4 months. When the time is up, repeat the process until you want to conceive.
This works based on the fact that sperm cells do not survive well under heat; in contrast, they need to be several degrees cooler than the body temperature, hence, the testicles hang outside the body. In fact, sperm cells die at 95F (35C), so this method kills sperm for an extended period of time.

2. Papaya seed drink
In traditional South Asian and Southeast Asian cultures, eating a teaspoon of papaya seeds a day has long been proven to be an effective contraceptive. It can cut a man’s sperm count to zero and is safe for long-term use.
This method takes three months of a daily intake of papaya seeds before it is effective. One of the great benefits of this method is its reversibility – if the man stops taking the seeds his sperm count will return to normal.
For an easy-to-consume drink, blend a teaspoon of papaya seeds with sweet fruits such as papayas or bananas.

3. Fertility awareness method
There are many ways to approach this method but all have one thing in common; knowing your ovulation cycle. Using this method, a woman will need to watch for signs that indicate ovulation has occurred or is about to occur. The beauty of this method is that it has the woman stay in tune with her body, rhythm, cycle and her subtle changes.
Most women’s cycles are between 26 to 32 days. You are only fertile 3-4 days during your cycle. The optimum days for fertilization are the 2 days before ovulation, the day of ovulation, and the day after ovulation.
This means that for most of your cycle you are not in a fertile period and there are only a few days when you are able to conceive. Therefore, it works to your advantage to track, chart, and be intimately aware of your own cycle so that you know when you’re ovulating and are in your most fertile period. Then you can choose to have no sexual intercourse or use some form of barriers during those days.

4. Wild carrot seeds
Wild carrot seeds (Daucus Carota), also called Queen Anne’s Lace, have been used for centuries as a contraceptive. They’re completely safe, natural, do not disrupt your cycle, and may even be growing in your backyard.
During ovulation days, take the first dose of wild carrot seeds within 8-24 hours after intercourse, and then up to 2 more times afterwards; this equals a total of 3 times within a minimum of 24 hours and a maximum of 72 hours. You can chew the seeds, take the tincture, or steep in hot water and drink as a tea.
Wild carrot seeds that are consumed during the time of ovulation subtly increase your progesterone level for the 72 hours that the herb is introduced. When you stop taking the herb, the progesterone level drops and then sends a signal to the body to let it know that the fertilized egg should not be implanted.

https://happenings.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/black-couple-hugging-300x168.jpg

5. Basal body temperature method
The basal body temperature (BBT) method is based upon the fact that a woman’s temperature drops 12 to 24 hours before an egg is released from her ovary and then increases again once the egg has been released. The temperature difference is not very large; it is less than 1 degree F (0.5 degree C) when the body is at rest.
To use this method take the basal body temperature (your temperature upon first waking) every morning with a specially sensitive and accurate “basal” thermometer, and carefully note the daily temperature variations.
You should refrain from having sexual intercourse, or use a barrier method from the time your temperature drops until at least 48 to 72 hours after your temperature increases again.

6. The mucus method
This method involves tracking changes in the amount and texture of vaginal discharge which reflects rising levels of estrogen in the body.
For the first few days after your period, there is often no discharge, your vagina is dry. As estrogen starts to rise, there will be a cloudy, tacky mucus. Your vagina feels sticky to the touch, but not truly wet. When ovulation is near, the discharge starts to increase in volume and becomes clear and stringy. The vagina is wet and moist. When you’re ovulating and most fertile the discharge is similar to raw egg white, very slippery and stretchy. The vagina feels lubricated. When ovulation’s passed there’s either tacky, cloudy mucus or no discharge.
This method, combined with the Basal Body Temperature method can have a success rate as high as 98%.

7. Ovulation indicator kit
Ovulation prediction kits are designed to measure the amount of hormone in the body – hence they can predict when a woman is most likely to ovulate.
a. The urine kit
Begin testing your urine 2-3 days before you expect to ovulate based on your previous monthly cycle. Urinate onto a test stick and the amount of luteinizing hormone will be indicated by a color change.
The intensity of the color is proportional to the amount of luteinizing hormone in your urine which increases 20-48 hours before ovulation and can be detected 8-12 hours later.
b. The saliva kit
The saliva kit has a hand-held magnification lens that allows you to check the pattern of your saliva. Hormones filter into saliva and during fertility, a pattern that looks like a fern can be seen in saliva under a high powered magnification lens.
Just prior to or during fertile days, estrogen levels in saliva will typically dry into a fern pattern just like cervical mucus. During non-fertile days only random and shapeless dots will be visible.

PoliticsJonathan’s Last Minute Appointments, Sacks, Trap For Buhari – APC by vicostyle20(op): 8:00am On May 06, 2015
https://www.informationng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Davies-Ikanya.jpg
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has accused President Goodluck Jonathan of setting booby traps for the incoming administration of General Muhammadu Buhari, through last-minute appointments as well as the removal and immediate replacement of heads of strategic government parastatals.
The Rivers APC Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, accordingly, advised the in-coming administration to reverse some of the sacks and appointments, which it said was aimed at planting mediocres that will undermine the lofty ideals of the party and present it in bad light for the 2019 general elections.
Ikanya said, “We are appalled and disappointed by this gale of appointments, sacks, and replacements by a go-slow President who was hitherto known for his inability to remove erring public officers and to replace ministers and heads of government agencies who either retired or resigned their appointments.

“The last-minute rush by President Jonathan to remove and replace heads of strategic government departments and agencies is therefore nothing but an attempt to set traps for the incoming Buhari Administration in the hope that reviewing these illegal actions would result in the loss of goodwill by the successor-administration.
“To us this rash of sacks and appointments apart from unnecessarily over-heating the polity is also distracting the incoming administration. We wonder why all these late sackings and appointments at the twilight of this administration that has caused our nation a lot of hardship which will take the administration of General Buhari much time and efforts to mitigate.
“We advise the incoming administration to reverse some of these vindictive sacks and unwarranted appointments aimed at planting mediocres that will undermine the lofty ideals of APC and present APC in bad light for the 2019 general elections. We should not accept this in the interest of both our great party and future of our dear nation”.
While urging the outgoing president to concern himself with his handover notes and smooth transfer of power to the President-elect, Buhari and refrain from further acts of illegality, Mr. Ikanya commended the national leadership of the party for stopping the influx of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the APC.
He said, “This principled stand by the APC National Leadership will go a long way to strengthen our democracy as PDP members now have no other option than to remain in their party and form a strong opposition that will keep us on our toes. It will also go a long way to make our politicians to believe in their political parties and their ideologies instead of jumping ship at the earliest opportunity.
“PDP has for the past 16 years ruined our nation. To allow such mischievous, greedy, and unprincipled politicians to have any foothold in our great party will result in avoidable contamination. PDP members should, therefore, stay back in their party and allow us to see how quickly we can clear the mess they created in their 16 years in power”.

PoliticsWe Must Question Sources Of Rich Nigerians’ Wealth –osinbajo by vicostyle20(op): 8:46am On May 02, 2015
https://punch.cdn.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Prof-Yemi-Osinbajo-360x225.jpg

The Vice-President-elect, Prof.Yemi Osinbajo, on Friday explained how the Muhammadu Buhari administration would prosecute the anti-graft war, saying that Nigerians must question sources of wealth of the rich.
Osinbajo, while delivering the keynote address at the Abuja edition of The Platform, said the incoming administration would ensure zero tolerance for corruption by reforming the Justice system.
He said within the last few years, what the country had experienced was a situation where people got away with corrupt practices, noting that going forward; the incoming government would make sure that corrupt people suffer the consequences of their actions.
He said when people are made to suffer the consequences of corrupt practices; it would send a strong message to everyone that the era of looting of the treasury was over.
He said, “We have always talked about zero tolerance for corruption but it is also important that people are made to understand that there will be consequence for corruption.
“What we have seen so far is that there is hardly any consequence and people simply get away with it and if you get away with it often, it sends a message to everyone that there is no problem, and we need to fix that whole thinking that there has to be a consequence for corrupt practices.

“People have to explain, for instance, if you are a public servant, that how come you have 50 houses. Somebody needs to ask you those questions and some of the reasons people get away with that is our criminal justice system.”
He said in view of the fact that the incoming administration would be taking the fight against corruption seriously, one of the reforms that would first be carried out is in the judicial system.
The Vice-President- elect said the nation’s judicial system as presently constituted was slow, adding that this had made it easy for people to get away with criminal acts.
He said, “Our criminal justice system needs to be fixed. The system is slow and it almost always ensures that people who have been charged with offenses would not be tried forever and after a while people forget that people are on trial.
“We have to fix that criminal justice system to ensure that criminal trials are speedy and that anyone who is guilty of an offense will be punished for that offense.
“So there are so many initiatives around what we need to do in that area. The United States has 300 million people and they have 2.2 million people in jail. We have 170 million people and we have convicted people of just 12,000.
“Now if you add those awaiting trials, it comes to about 50,000 but actual convicted people are just 12,000. Truly it shows you that there is a failure somewhere of our criminal justice system, practically every one of us knows somebody who has stolen something.
“The truth is that the system of protection, investigation and trial of people is wrong and the truth is that everybody gets away with criminality in Nigeria and I think there is a need for us to review the system such that it begins to work.”
In the area of policing, Osinbajo said a country as big as that of Nigeria needed community policing.
He said it would be difficult for the Nigerian Police Force in its present form to fight crime in an effective manner owing to what he described as structural problems.
He said, “We need to look at law and order. The question of policing our society, how do we police this country? At the moment we know that policing is ineffective.
“If the police want to deal with the criminals, you and I know that they are hampered from doing so, they are hampered structurally, they are hampered by the fact that they are not as well equipped as they ought to be, and they are not resourced as they ought to be but the structural problem is the major one.
“A country of this size needs some form of community policing because criminality is always local, we need to have policemen who understand the local language, who live in the local community, who understand the language. So there is logic in it to have community policing.”
The event powered by Covenant Christian Centre had the theme: “Business and governance.”

PoliticsPay Our Six Months’ Salary, Doctors Tell Aregbesola by vicostyle20(op): 8:34am On May 02, 2015
https://punch.cdn.ng/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Aregbesola.jpg

The Nigeria Medical Association has accused Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, of deliberately denying workers their six months’ salaries.
The Chairman of NMA Action Committee in the state, Dr. R.A. Adebayo, said in a letter to the governor and a copy of which was made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Friday, that the governor had collected up to March, 2015 allocation but he refused to pay doctors and other workers.
NMA also alleged that Aregbesola had deliberately made himself unavailable for dialogue with the association over the issue.
It said a meeting called at the instance of the state Head of Service with the National President of NMA, Dr. Kayode Obembe, and the Chairman of NMA in Oyo State branch, Dr. M.B Olatunji, based on the ultimatum given to Osun State Government led to many “discoveries.”
The association said, “Despite the non-payment of six months salaries to doctors and other civil servants in Osun, contractors and political office holders have been the beneficiaries of the available revenue accrued to our state from the federation account.

“Our association therefore concluded that the non-payment of six months salaries to our members as well as other civil servants is not a matter of government inability but unwillingness to pay.”
The NMA, however, accused the governor of paying political appointees who they said earned jumbo pay while workers who were paid peanuts were left to suffer.
The association therefore called on Argebsola to pay workers’ salaries without further delay, saying the governor should be held responsible for any action taken by doctors if their salaries were not paid.
But Agebesola blamed the alleged mishandling of the nation’s resources for the inability to pay workers regularly.
In a statement sent to our correspondent by his media aide, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, the governor said, “With transparent handling of national resources, the days of revenue crisis in Nigeria will soon be over and workers will once again be assured of their place of priority. We are committed to furthering our achievements in Osun State as far as the welfare of workers is concerned.”

Foreign AffairsNorway Apologizes For Selling Military Wares To Nigerian Insurgents by vicostyle20(op): 12:24pm On May 01, 2015
https://www.nigerianbulletin.com/data/attachments/49/49305-77c94056ac973602ca8d07e7ab580b7f.jpg

Norwegian Defense Chief Haakon Bruun-Hansen admitted on Thursday that military officials had done a poor job of selling several surplus vessels in 2012 and 2013, and he apologized for that at a parliamentary inquiry. The vessels wound up under the control of paramilitary forces in Nigeria, and a former military employee has been charged with corruption.

“The fact that the vessels have landed in Nigeria under Nigerian flag reflects a breakdown in our systems, and I apologize for that,” Bruun-Hansen said during a hearing before the Parliament’s disciplinary committee. He was not defense chief at the time of the sales, but took responsibility for what’s become a military scandal that extended into his tenure. Norwegian regulations prohibit the sales or export of material or services to private buyers who may arm the vessels and offer them for use in areas of conflict, and those regulations were violated.

News bureau NTB reported that Bruun-Hansen admitted that military officials did not carry out a thorough check of the company, CAS Global, that bought six missile torpedo boats (MTBs) and the support vessel KMN Horten three years ago.

The vessels were sold after they’d been stripped of weapons, rebuilt and repainted so that they could be classified as civilian vessels. Representatives for CAS Global had also declared that the vessels would sail under British flag and British jurisdiction, and with European crews. Norway’s Foreign Ministry, which is responsible for controlling exports of military material, then cleared the sale. The Horten at one point was reported to be part of a transaction involving anti-piracy efforts off Somalia.

Both the defense and foreign ministries were under political leadership of the former left-center government at the time, headed by Labour Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg who is now secretary general of NATO. Current Foreign Minister Børge Brende, also testifying at Thursday’s hearing, said that much remains unclear about the sale and export of the vessels, and Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reported that Brende had notified the state prosecutor (Riksadvokaten) about possible criminal violations.

The so-called “Nigerian boats” scandal emerged after a series of reports in newspaper Dagbladet, and several members of the parliamentary committee noted on Thursday that a simple Internet search would have revealed that CAS Global only had a postbox address. Defense department officials nonetheless received the Nigerians who represented CAS Global and wanted to inspect the vessels that were up for sale.

“Does this mean that anybody can buy these boats, as long as they sign a declaration?” asked Erik Skutle, a Member of Parliament for the Conservatives. “Even terrorists? How on earth could this happen?”

Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reported that Bruun-Hansen and the head of the defense department’s logistics organization (FLO), Petter Jansen, tried to answer the many questions that arose after Dagbladet revealed how the Norwegian equipment landed in the hands of owners described as Nigerian warlords. Another former Norwegian Coast Guard vessel, the KV Titran, was also sold through a brokerage company in a transaction that both Jansen and Bruun-Hansen also admitted did not comply with regulations. It was sold on to a South African weapons trader, Nautic Africa, which in turn sold it to another Nigerian company.

Corruption charges

Norwegian and British police made three arrests in January in connection with the sales. A former FLO employee who was responsible for sales has since been charged with corruption and Jansen, his boss, admitted that his own follow-up of the case had also been deficient. He claimed he since has made many changes in the FLO as a result of the scandal.
Harald Sunde, who served as defense chief when the sales were conducted, also apologized on Thursday and said he was disappointed over all the mistakes made in connection with the vessel sales. He blamed a difficult reorganization of FLO at the time for the breakdown. Now both prosecutors and Norwegian police are investigating and more charges may be filed.

Helge Thorheim, a Member of Parliament for the Progress Party, told NTB that he thinks the defense department was under pressure from the Defense Ministry to sell the vessels, to raise money at a time of tight budgets. “But it’s very difficult to get to the bottom of this case,” Thorheim told NRK.

CelebritiesBeer Company To Sell Drinks Made From Wastewater by vicostyle20(op): 11:48am On May 01, 2015

A beer company received approval from the Oregon Environmental Quality Commission to use filtered wastewater to produce beer. The light yellow lager beer will be brewed by home brewers using recycled wastewater.

Clean Water Services of Oregon, said it hopes to show consumers soon how pure recycled wastewater really is. Drinking recycled wastewater is quite common in some parts of the world, but to a lesser degree in the United States.
Clean Water Services said that they are proud of its recycling system and applied to the Commission on Environmental Quality to be allowed to brew beer. Permission was granted on Wednesday. Oregon Brew Crew now produces a wastewater beer and serves it at company events, but the final product will have to be approved by health and safety officials.
One health authority approved the idea, giving credit to the high quality of treated water, additional microbial reduction in the process of brewing and a low risk of health in general.

CelebritiesBrother Eulogises Late Gbenga Adeboye 12-years After Death by vicostyle20(op): 11:56pm On Apr 30, 2015
'Though I knew the time was up, I braced up to keep saying it was well...' were some of the words of the late Gbenga Adeboye's brother, Femi Adeboye as he eulogised his late brother.

Femi Adeboye went emotional on Thursday, April 30, 2015 as he took to his Facebook to reminisce and eulogise his late brother and ace comedian, Gbenga Abefe Adeboye.
12 years after the shocking death of the popular Yoruba radio personality, his brother remembers his brother with emotional description of his last meeting with the Itu Baba Ta star.
In the words of Femi, “At exactly 4pm, 12 years ago, I left you helplessly on your sick bed at St Nicholas hospital to attend to an issue in Ibadan. Though I knew the time was up, I braced up to keep saying it was well. Before I left, I recalled that I said to your almost dead body that “if we meet again, we shall be glad. If not, God has made our NEXT meeting impossible. The following day, very early in the morning, the news that it was not well, which I kept at the back of my mind, was finally let loose."

Continuing, he said, 'I left Ibadan without believing that you had given in to death. But on getting to the mortuary, it dawned on me that it was not well. Looking at you in a crate where you were deposited, something came to my mind that some time ago, you were like us, living together as ONE.
'And even if we live as though we are never going to die, one day ,we would be like you: living together again where we shall part no more. Brother, keep resting on in the bosom of the Almighty till the appointed day when we shall meet again and part no more,' he wrote.

PoliticsBorno State Govt Reaffirms Chibok Girls Are Still Missing by vicostyle20(op): 12:52am On Apr 30, 2015

The Borno state government has reaffirmed that the 293 females rescued from Sambisa forest are from Bumsiri village, Damboa local government and not Chibok.

Contrary to speculations, the Borno state government has reaffirmed that the 293 females rescued from Sambisa forest,Boko Haram stronghold, on Tuesday, April 28 are from Bumsirivillage, Damboa local government and not Chibok.
The Commissioner for Information in the state, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, disclosed this to journalists in Maiduguri, Borno capital, on Wednesday, April 29.
"These girls and women rescued are still our daughters as much as the Chibok girls and we have to commend the military for liberating them, hoping that the rest will equally be liberated. Though everyone had thought they were the Chibok girls because of the hype surrounding the abduction of the girls, but we should not lose sight of the fact that they are as important as the Chibok girls and those that are still in captivity, which we hope would be liberated soon. But at the moment, we are looking up to the time the 293 women and girls would be handed to us so that we can begin the process of rehabilitating and reintegrating them back into the society.” he said.

The Commissioner’s statement buttresses that of the Nigerian Army spokesman, Sani Usman, who told Reuters on Tuesday that the young women rescued are not the missing Chibok girls.

Health4 Common Causes Of Infertility In Women by vicostyle20(op): 11:03pm On Apr 29, 2015
https://static.pulse.ng/img/incoming/origs3710148/1091699788-w308-h960/PelvicInflammatoryDisease.jpg
Infertility, the inability to bear children, is a huge problem in Nigeria, it is also often the cause of breakups and stigmatization.
This horrible condition can be caused be a number of things, and they include:
Endometriosis- This condition is characterized by a tissue implanting itself in other places rather than the uterus, this unnatural occurrence affects the lining of the uterus, disrupting implantation of the fertilized egg. This can also cause damage to the sperm or egg. When this is scarred or inflamed within the uterus, it can disrupt implantation.
Uterine or cervical causes- These interfere with implantation of the fertilized egg thereby increasing the possibility of a miscarriage. They include cervical stenosis, a cervical narrowing caused by an inherited malformation or damage to the cervix, uterine abnormalities present from birth, such as an abnormally shaped uterus, fibroids or tumors blocking the fallopian tubes or by disrupting implantation. Another instance is when the cervix can’t produce the best type of mucus to allow the sperm to travel through the cervix into the uterus.
Tubal infertility- This involves damage to the fallopian tubes caused by pelvic inflammatory disease, an infection of the uterus and fallopian tubes due to chlamydia, gonorrhea or other sexually transmitted infections, previous surgery in the abdomen or pelvis, including surgery for ectopic pregnancy, in which a fertilized egg becomes implanted and starts to develop in a fallopian tube instead of the uterus and pelvic tuberculosis, a major cause of tubal infertility worldwide. This damage prevents sperm from getting to the egg or blocks the passage of the fertilized egg into the uterus.
Ovulation disorders- This means you ovulate infrequently or sometimes not at all. These can be caused by flaws in the regulation of reproductive hormones by the hypothalamus or the pituitary gland, or by problems in the ovary itself.
Apart from the above causes, there are other unexplainable instances that science is still trying to figure out.

HealthExcess Vitamin Intake Can Cause Cancer by vicostyle20(op): 10:42pm On Apr 29, 2015
According to the major study, taking extra vitamins “does more harm than good” and increases the risk of cancer and heart disease.
https://static.pulse.ng/img/incoming/crop3688487/0632781344-chorizontal-w644/download.jpg

Excessive intake of vitamins can cause cancer. This is according to a new research finding by Dr Tim Byers who is the associate director for prevention and control at the University of Colorado Cancer Center and one of the world’s top cancer experts
Byers who admitted to not being sure why this was the case said taking extra vitamins “does more harm than good” and increases the risk of cancer and heart disease.
The cancer expert who examined research papers spanning 30 years looked at three widely taken over-the-counter pills and supplements - vitamin E tablets, beta-carotene and folic acid, and warned against exceeding the recommended daily amount.
According to him:

"We studied thousands of patients for 10 years who were taking dietary supplements and placebos. We found that the supplements were actually not beneficial for their health. In fact, some people actually got more cancer while on the vitamins.”
A member of Byer's team also discovered that folic acid supplements which is taken by hundreds of thousands of pregnant women each year to help prevent spina bifida and other birth defects affecting the brain and spine could increase the chances of getting cancer by 56% if taken in excess.
In addition, the acid or vitamin, beta-carotene taken to cut the risk of heart disease and polyps in a colon could in fact yield the opposite result.
Taking more than the recommended dose therefore increased the number of dangerous polyps, thereby increasing the chance of developing lung cancer and heart disease by 20%.
Also another trial of 35,000 people between 2001 and 2014 in theUnited States found taking too many vitamin E tablets increased the risk of developing prostate cancer by 17%.
According to a journal, Byers began his study after it emerged 20 years ago that people eating more fruit and vegetables were less likely to get cancer and wanted to see if vitamin supplements would reduce the threat of the disease even further.
Instead "we have discovered that taking extra vitamins and minerals do more harm than good. This is not to say that people need to be afraid of taking vitamins and minerals. If taken at the correct dosage multivitamins can be good for you. But there is no substitute for good food.” he said.

Health8 Common Causes Of Infertility In Men by vicostyle20(op): 10:35pm On Apr 29, 2015
https://static.pulse.ng/img/incoming/origs3710205/1551694425-w308-h960/infertility-10-male.jpg
It is no secret that women suffer infertility, however this is not limited to the female folk as men suffer it too.
Causes of male infertility include:

-Using steroid- this causes the testicles to shrink thereby rendering the man infertile.

-Malnutrition and anaemia.

-Wearing tight pants and boxers- this causes infertility by decreasing the production of sperm due to the heat created by the tight underwear, this heat affects the scrotum negatively.

-Lots of intense workouts- Too much of high intense exercise is capable of rendering a man infertile as this causes the body to produce lots of adrenal steroid hormones, which then cause a testosterone deficiency.

-Smoking– this significantly decreases both sperm count and sperm cell motility, which is the ability to move spontaneously and actively.

-A prolonged use of marijuana and other recreational drugs.

-Chronic alcohol abuse.

-Lack of adequate vitamin C and Zinc in the diet.

The above show that male infertility depends a lot on health, so, men who live a healthy lifestyle are more likely to produce healthy sperm, thereby their reducing chances of infertility.

PoliticsAPC, PDP Factions Form Alliance To Produce Senate President by vicostyle20(op): 4:55pm On Apr 25, 2015
The PDP factions in the two chambers of the National Assembly are reportedly forming an alliance with some aggrieved APC members to produce a speaker and a senate president.

https://static.pulse.ng/img/incoming/crop3697496/9652782920-chorizontal-w644/APC-LEADERS.jpg

It has emerged that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is planning to capitalise on the failure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to reach a consensus on the zoning of key offices in the incoming administration.

Some APC members, had, in a crucial meeting in Abuja on Thursday, April 23, disagreed on the zoning of the Senate President seat to the North-Central and Deputy Senate President to the North-East, as recommended by the party’s National Working Committee.

Reports say the PDP factions in the two chambers of theNational Assembly are forming an alliance with the aggrieved APC members to produce a speaker and a senate president different from candidates approved by the APC.

At the APC meeting, the office of the deputy speaker was reportedly zoned to the South-South.
A member of the alliance who spoke to journalists anonymously said the caucus will ensure that holders of the offices are not choices of the APC leaders.

“Although we are not disputing the fact that the APC should produce leaders of the National Assembly, we will ensure that those who will emerge are people we prefer, not the choices of the APC leaders.

“By doing that, we will snatch the control of the National Assembly from them, just as the APC controlled the House through Aminu Tambuwal,” the source said.

However, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had in a statement earlier this week dismissed the reports of disagreement in the party over zoning of offices. He described the claims as ‘products of hyperactive rumour mills’.

PoliticsIf You've Looted Nigeria's Money You Must Return Our Money – Says Buhari by vicostyle20(op): 2:23pm On Apr 24, 2015

President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that his government will recover much of the monies looted from the treasuries of Nigeria with an initiative he will put in place.

Buhari said by the time his government's anti-corruption programme is unveiled, those who stole blindly from the government coffers would cough out every money that have stolen.

He insisted that, 'Stealing is now corruption and nobody will be allowed to go free with our money'.

Buhari made this known in Daura recently when responding to entreaties from supporters of the APC who urged him to keep to his promises to Nigerians and not take the war against corruption with levity.

He is set will put in place a committee to probe the monies generated by the Nigerian government in the past few years and determining how much had been misappropriated within the period.

One of the APC top members who was in attendance at the brief meeting in Daura said the President-elect was optimistic that those who stole from Nigeria in all tiers will return what they stole very soon.

He said Buhari was of the view that while he would not go all out to initiate a process to jail looters of the treasury, anyone who failed to co-operate with measures to be put in place for recovery of looted funds will have to face the consequences.
