NASARAWA STATE NSCDC COMMAND CONDEMNS ATTACK ON JOURNALIST, ASSURES OF APPROPRIATE DISCIPLINARY ACTION.

The Nasarawa State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abbas Bappa Muhammed, msgt, received with great shock, the news of attack on the Head of News, Breeze FM Lafia, Mr. Edwin Philip at Polling Unit 016, Chiroma Ward, in Lafia Local Government Council, during the Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections by some personnel of the Nasarawa State command who were on a routine patrol and monitoring of election processes within the Lafia metropolis.

Commandant Bappa condemned this act in its totality, as it is not a true reflection of the character and attributes of the Command's personnel. He vowed to investigate the incident to fish out the perpetrators of the attack on the journalist.

He harped on the need for officers and men of the command to exhibit high standards of professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

According to him, "Officers and men have been repeatedly briefed on the need for good public conduct at all times and especially during the election, therefore, anyone who violate this order will be liable to punishment.

The State Commandant had directed that the injured journalist be immediately given medical attention with a promise to settle all bills incurred in order to avoid any health complications.

He promised the media community that he will leave no stone unturned in unraveling those behind this shameful act.

The Command wishes to apologise to the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Nasarawa State Council and the general public, assuring that such an incidence will not repeat itself.

*5 HOMOSEXUAL ARRESTED IN NASARAWA BY NSCDC*

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Nasarawa State Command has arrested five (5) suspects for engaging in homosexuality, in Doma and Lafia Local government areas of the state.

The suspects Mohammed Mutawakil 'm' 17yrs, Allu Patrick 'm' 28yrs, Muhammed Zanwa 'm' 28yrs, Ali Abubakar Abati 'm' 28yra and Shuaibu Yusuf 28yrs, were apprehended from different time and locations within Doma and Lafia Local government area of the state.

Upon interrogation they all admitted to have been indulging in this dastardly act for some years now before the law caught up with them in one of their hideout in Doma Local government area.

While parading the suspects at the Command Headquarters in Lafia the state capital, the State Commandant *Abbas Bappa Muhammed msgt* who spoke through the Public Relations Officer *DSC Jerry Victor,* frowned at this unfortunate and unholy act. He call on all parents and guidance to monitor the movement of their children and wards especially at this electioneering year.

As he said, investigation is ongoing after which they will be charge to court for prosecution, he concluded.

*CHILD ABUSE AND MOLESTATION, NSCDC NABBED AN ISLAMIC TEACHER IN NASARAWA*

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Nasarawa State Command, has arrested one Mallam Salisu Abubakar 35yrs for maltreating, Molesting and abusing his pupils in Sangaya Goni Maikanike Islamic school in Adogi, Lafia East Development Area of the state.

The State Commandant *Abbas Bappa Muhammed msgt* while parading the suspect at the Command Headquarters in Lafia, the Commandant who spoke through the Public Relations Officer of the Corps, *DSC Jerry Victor* frowned at the incident, in his words, it is disheartening to see people who are suppose to be role models to this children, ends up to be their nightmare, this barbaric act will not be allowed in Nasarawa State under my watch, he said.

This is a fore warning to all religious teachers, across the state, no one is above the law, if anyone is found wanting they should be ready to dance to the music of the law.


The NSCDC, in Nasarawa State will not and cannot developed cold feet and is ever ready to mitigate crime and criminality in the state.

The Victims Abudulhakimu Yibu 12yrs and Aliyu Sanusi 9yrs who hails from Maikwarya local government area of Katsina state, told their stories in tears and promised never to go back to the school again, we are treated like animals, we are sent to beg for food and if we are unlucky we will be flog with either rod or stick, they narrated.

The NSCDC boss, call on parents and guardians to take the education and health of their children and wards seriously, the well being of their children should be their top most priority. Calling on the general public to report such activities to the security agencies closer to them for prompt action.

The Football Team of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nasarawa State Command, win a bronze medal in the just concluded Governor's Cup tagged: *Engr. A.A Sule Inter-Security Agencies Football Unity Cup, 2022*
Receiving the Bronze Medalists in his office, the *State Commandant Abbas Bappa Muhammed msgt,* expressed joy for the team, *"despite all odds you persisted and came home with this Medal, I am happy and promise my unflinching support to this wonderful team, after seeing you play severally I knew the sky will be your starting point, wishing you all the very best in your future endeavors* he said.

From start, Team NSCDC beat their opponent NDLEA 6 : 0 in the opening ceremony of the tournament and subsequent games: DSS 1 : 1 NSCDC, NSCDC 5 : 1 NIS, FFS 1 : 1 NSCDC in group stage.

The Semi Final ended in favour of the NPF on Penalty 4 : 5, while the NSCDC faced the NDLEA in the Third Place and win the Bronze Medal on Penalty (4 : 3), The Tournament was first of its kind in the state organized by The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Nasarawa state on Sports Development, *Hon. Hamza Ibrahim Moyi* The purpose is to maintain, foster, boast, promote and strengthen the already existing synergy between security agencies in the state.

Meanwhile, Corps Assistant II, (CAII) Aminu Rabo, became the Golden Boot Winner, with a total of Nine (9) goals, as the Highest goal scorer.

*NSCDC TRAINED OVER 180 PERSONNEL ON ARMS HANDLING AND COMBAT CRAFT IN NASARAWA*

The 177 Guards Battalion Shittu Alao Baracks, Keffi of the Nigerian Army train 200 personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nasarawa State Command, on Arms Handling, Combat Craft, Close Contact Fight (Bayonet Fighting), Condor and Search and obstacles manoeuvering.

The Commanding Officer, 177 Guards Battalion Nigerian Army Keffi, *Lt. Col. AA Ali* expressed his satisfaction and very optimistic that the Trained officers will exhibit what has been impacted on them for the benefit of the country *"National Security cannot be compromise, the unity of this country cannot be over emphasized, watch out, give in your best and save the nation from the insecurity and be hopeful that one day it will be history"* The Commanding Officer, said.

The Nigerian Army and the NSCDC are co-join twins that cannot be separated, we enjoy working with you, and we are will do more to salvage this nation.

The Commissioner of Police *CP Maiyaki Muhammed Baba* accompanied by his predecessor, *AIG Adesina Soyemi* the later, expresses his joy to introduced the new Commissioner of Police to the State Commandant, whom he said he enjoyed working with and had a very cordial and working synergy, while he was in Nasarawa State.

In his words, the Commandant is a perfect gentleman and a critical thinker to the core, whose contribution, ideas and resilient attribute towards the security architecture of the state, makes it one of the peaceful state in the country, He said.

*COMMANDANT GENERAL SPECIAL INTELLIGENCE SQUAD NABS TWO KINGPINS FOR BANDITRY, KIDNAPPING AND CATTLE RUSTLING IN NASARAWA*

The Commandant General's Special Intelligence Squad has arrested two who specialize in Kidnapping, banditry and Cattle rustling terroriszing, Akiri, Azara Namu and Quan'pan, areas of Nasarawa, Taraba and Plateau States respectively.

The gallant men of the Special intelligence Squad, swung into action after receiving and verifying credible information about the activities of bandits, kidnapping and incessant cattle rustling in the aforementioned areas.

Parading the suspects in the Command Headquarters in Lafia, the State Commandant *Abbas Bappa Muhammed msgt* who spoke through the Public Relations Officer *DSC Jerry Victor* said, the suspect, Abdullahi Laru Abubakar 30years m' who hails from Turyan Village of Kwande district of Quan'pan local government area of Plateau State was arrested on the 27th September, 2022.

The suspect Abdullahi Laru Abubakar confessed to have called on his gang member simply identified as Umar, Duware and Ango (still at-large) all from Kwande area to rustle 10 cattle belonging to one Alhaji Sule Yamusa aka 'Alh. Amo', of Akiri area in Azara Development Area in Awe local government area of Nasarawa State, whom they succeeded to a Shimankar village in Quan'pan local government area of Plateau State. He said.

The second suspect
Danlami Ahmadu 40 years from Angwan Kurmi Kwande district of Quan'pan local government area of Plateau State was arrested for receiving four (4) rustled cattle from Duware one of the gang member. He confessed to have conveyed the cattle to Gidan Maiwa in Bauchi were he sold 2 for N440,000.

Investigation is ongoing when concluded they will be charge to court of competent jurisdiction for prosecution, he concluded.

*NSCDC ARRESTED 18 YEAR OLD FOR ARMED ROBBERY IN NASARAWA*

Following zero tolerant to crime and criminality in Nasarawa State, declared by the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Nasarawa State Command, *Comdt Abbas Bappa Muhammed msgt* in Lafia recently, the Command has arrested one Muhammed Hussaini 18yrs m' who reside at Shendam road, Lafia, for armed robbery.

While parading the suspect at the Command Headquarters in Lafia, the State Commandant *Abbas Bappa Muhammed msgt* who spoke through the Public Relations Officer *DSC Jerry Victor* said, the suspect, Mohammed Hussaini and his gang attacked some boys rearing cattle behind City Hall, in Lafia Nasarawa state with a locally fabricated pistol, but he fled the scene when he and his gang were overpowered by the boys, leaving his pistol.

The owner of the cattle reported the case to the Command Headquarters in Lafia on the 17th of August, 2022.

The suspect was on the wanted list of the intelligence, until he was arrested on Monday 26th September, 2022.

He will be handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Nasarawa State Command for further Investigation and prosecution, as he was on their wanted list too for a crime he committed sometimes ago.

The suspect have confessed to the crime and pleaded for leniency. He attributed it to the handy work of the devil.

The State Commandant call on the youth to shun all forms of social vise's and engage themselves on meaningful ventures that will make good ambassadors of the Country, he also pleaded with the good people of the state to make available credible and reliable information to security agencies closer to them. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nasarawa State Command, has arrested three suspects for rape and defilement.

While parading the suspects at the State Headquarters of the NSCDC in Lafia, the State Commandant *Abbas Bappa Muhammed msgt* who spoke through the Public Relations Officer *DSC Jerry Victor* said the suspects were arrested in different location in Lafia. The suspects Haruna Abdullahi 39yrs m' who hail from Tudun Kofa in Lafia and Dauda Muhammed 35yrs m' who hail from Dawakin local government area of Kano state but resides in Tudun Kofa, Lafia Nasarawa state, confessed to have raped Ramatu Dahiru, 13 year old at his house, in Tudun Kofa Lafia.

It is disheartening to know that the suspect Dauda Mohammed is a friend to the victim's father, he said.

The victim Ramatu Dahiru told news men that the friend to her father called her to his place, she went to him, thinking he wanted sending her on an errand, unknown to her he has a devilish plan awaits her.

In the same vein, the command paraded a 20year old Haruna Mohammed for raping, defiling and impregnating Sa'adatu Mohammed (Not real name) a 13 year old in Laying Kaji, Lafia Nasarawa State.

The suspect have confessed to have committed the act and promised to marry the underage girl.

The suspects will be charged to court of competent jurisdiction for prosecution.

He call on parents and guidance to not be weary on the whereabout of their children and wards. They should show keen interest on their movements.

The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and civil Defence Corps Nasarawa State Command, *Comdt Abbas Bappa Muhammed msgt* and the top management staff of the NSCDC in Lafia, gallantly led the officers and men of the Command to a peace walk across major streets in Lafia the state capital, to commensurate year 2022 *WORLD PEACE DAY* with the theme *"END RASICM, BUILD PEACE."*

The Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit of NSCDC Nasarawa State Command, sensitize the general public on the need to shun all forms of violence, tribal and religion sentiments and build peace in our society, it is more profitable if we all leave in peace with one another, the importance that cannot be over emphasized.

The State Commandant, ably represented by the 2ic of the Command, *Deputy Commandant, John Joseph Efere JP* while addressing the officers at the Command Headquarters in Lafia, said, no Nation can have a meaningful development and growth when there is no peace, therefore peace is not what we ask, but we seek to leave in peace with one another. The world will be a better place for you and I if we leave in peace, he concluded.

The resource person *Dr. Ahmed Usman Agye* from the Department of Political Science, Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia Nasarawa State, enumerated different and various ways through which peace can be attain and sustain, living in peace and harmony with one another irrespective of their tribe, race, sections, ethnic background, political inclination, and religion. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nasarawa State Command, has arrested two suspects for Burglary and theft.

While parading the suspect at the State Headquarters of the NSCDC in Lafia, the State Commandant *Abbas Bappa Muhammed msgt* who spoke through the Public Relations Officer *DSC Jerry Victor* said the suspect were arrested in Gudi, in Akwanga local government area of Nasarawa state, after they were trailed by the Men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Gudi Division, on 17th September, 2022, at about 2300hrs.

The suspects Ikiraman Surajo 20yrs m' an ex-convict and Mohammed Sani 21yrs m' were arrested with the stolen items, which includes but not limited to LG LCD Television set, Bedsheets, they confessed to the crime and attributed it to the handy work of the devil.


The suspects will be charge to competent court of jurisdiction for prosecution after investigation is concluded. He said.

He Commandant, commended the efforts of the men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Nasarawa State Command, and charged them to redoubled their efforts in discharging their official duties.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nasarawa State Command, has arrested a fake soldier in Keffi-Wambai in Lafia Local government area of Nasarawa.

While parading the suspect at the State Headquarters of the NSCDC in Lafia, the State Commandant *Abbas Bappa Muhammed msgt* who spoke through the Public Relations Officer *DSC Jerry Victor* said the suspect was arrested based on the tip-off made available by the member of the public and a victim to the suspect.

He said the suspect was arrested by the gallant men of the Command on the 9th September, 2022 at about 1700hrs in Keffi- Wambai, the suspect who is an indigene of Bakin Ayini, in Kokona local government area of Nasarawa State, was caught with various items that belongs to the military, these items include: No1 Dress, 1 set of Camouflage, P-Cap Tie, Military inner vest, surfiscated and poisonous Jack-knife and a motorcycle he allegedly stole from one of his victim.

The suspect, confessed that some of the items were sold to him by one LCPL Gabriel serving in Maiduguri, Borno State and LCPL Daniel serving in Calabar, Cross-River state who he claimed are serving military personnel.

The suspect, Moses Ayaka 32yrs confessed to have defrauded over 22 individual amounting to N440,000.

He has pleaded for leniency as he attribute this to the hand work of the devil.

The suspect will be charge to competent court of jurisdiction for prosecution after investigation is concluded. He said.

The Commandant General's Special Intelligence Squad (SIS) has arrested a notorious suspected kidnapper and cattle rustler, terrorising Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa and Toto Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State.

The Special Intelligence Squad arrested the suspect, Tukur Mohammed 25yrs m' in Tsafe local government area of Zamfara state, after a credible and reliable information of the whereabouts of the suspect who has been under the Squad's radar for some times now.

While parading the suspect in the Command Headquarters in Lafia, the State Commandant *Abbas Bappa Muhammed msgt* who spoke through the Public Relations Officer *ASCI Jerry Victor* said, the suspect, Tukur Mohammed confessed to be a member of a deadly and a notorious kidnapping syndicate and infamous gang of cattle rustlers, that specialised in rustling cattle and kidnapping for ransom around Abaji Area Council of the FCT, Nasarawa and Toto Local government areas of Nasarawa state.

At the course of investigation, it was revealed that the syndicate kidnapped one Mallam Ibrahim between Nasarawa and Toto local government area of Nasarawa state together with his gang and demanded Ten Million Naira N10,000,000 as ransom, after they collected one million naira 1,000,000 that was found in his vehicle.

While waiting for the ransom, they were dislodged by the combine operation of the Nigerian Army and the Vigilante group, leading to the shooting of some of his gang members, while him and others escaped.

The suspect also revealed that him and his gang, rustle over 50 cattle where they share amongst themselves, he got four as his shares and sold same for N30,000 each to one butcher in Nasarawa Local government area, he said.

The State Commandant, *Abbas Bappa Muhammed,msgt* reiterate the Corps readiness in combating crimes and criminality in the state, the criminals only have one option, change a new leave or face the full wrath of law, as the Corps will not and will never relent in its efforts in getting rid of the criminals in the State.

Notorious railway vandals, who specialised in dismantling and selling railway materials , terrorising Nasarawa, Kaduna, Benue, and Plateau states, nabbed by the Men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nasarawa state.

*T-0418KT KATSINA* was intercepted, loaded with 91 pieces of Railway sleepers and 630 pieces of cut rails ranging from 30-50kg, along Mada Station road, in Nasarawa Eggon Area of the state.

The suspects *Aminu Ibrahim (m) 33yrs (Driver)* and *Masaudu Ibrahim (m) 36yrs (2nd Driver)* who are currently cooling their heels in NSCDC net, making confessional statements.

The arrest of the said vehicle was made possible by the surveillance and the Rapid Response Squad personnel whom are on 24hours patrol in the state capital.

The State Commandant, *Comdt. Abbas Bappa Muhammed, msgt,* who personally lead the team to the area, and intercepted the vehicle in Nasarawa Eggon based on an reliable intelligence, commended the Men of the state Command of the NSCDC for this remarkable achievement, and also warned the railway vandals to desist from this dastardly act or leave the state, as the Nasarawa State Command of the NSCDC will not relent in its efforts in clamping down on all criminals and criminality in the state.

Investigation is ongoing to unravelled the suspects involved in this inhuman act, he said.

He pleaded with the good people of Nasarawa state and the general public, to report any suspicious movement within and around their vicinity to any NSCDC office nearer to them, he concluded.

CIVIL DEFENCE- JOURNALIST FEUD:
TRUTH OF THE MATTER BY EYE WITNESS

The feud between the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps officer and a freelance journalist, Rabiu Omaku, suddenly became a topical issue celebrated by media houses without any sense of objectivity. At least for the sake of objective professionalism, The Metropolitan got in touch with an eye witness, Alhaji M. Rimi, one of the pensioners with the Public Relations Officer, at the time the issue started gave the account of what transpired between the two.

According to his narration, the freelancer, Mr Rabiu Omaku, came to the Pensions’ Public Relations Officer’s office, at the pension bureau, Lafia, Nasarawa state and was warmly welcomed. I had to step out when he came in. He came out after sometimes. Then, I went back into the office to continue with my discussion with the Public Relation Officer.

Few minutes later, someone came to inform the Public Relations Officer that a journalist was taking snapshots of internal memo pasted on the Pension Board office notice board. The Public Relations Officer went there to stop the snapping and delete the ones he had on his phone. This resulted in verbal and physical assaults.

At this point, one of the officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps at the Pension Board security office, was called to separate them. There and then, Mr Rabiu and some so called journalists numbering about ten targeted the officer, tore his uniform, underwear and grabbed his riffle to disarm him. However, they didn’t succeed in disarming him. At this juncture, some pensioners at the scene suspected that Rabiu and his colleagues could have been acting under the influence of drugs or sponsorship of an individual against the state government.

To the chagrin of everyone, none of the journalists was brutalized as widely and falsely claimed by “foul sympathizers and quacks” in the noble profession. Everyone at the scene applauded the courage, sense of duty, determination, strength and professionalism of the Civil Defence officer. If not for the high degree of civility, bad happening could have occurred.
The Metropolitan meant to understand that the Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, had earlier interacted with the group of journalists. However, to one’s greatest surprise, what was heard on the news later in the day was a different thing entirely.
On the issue of struggling to disarm the officer, a retired military officer, who pleaded animonity said it was the most stupid step any civilian could take, because every armed state security actor has been trained to regard his arm as his life, he further said thank God the Civil Defence Officer show high level of professionalism and there was no casualty.
He stated further that, “one wouldn’t know what this set of journalists want, because there is cordial relationship between the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps and the media.
