AAPOLY: Gunmen attack students, one shot dead Students of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic living at kings villa, Depolu,ojowo, Ijebu – Igbo were attacked last night with two injured and one shot dead.The deceased, identified as Oduntan Azeez was an NDII student of Business Administration of the institution.
AAPOLY News gathered that the gunmen entered through the back door of the building and tried to rape a young lady but did not succeed.
AAPOLY News gathered that the robbers moved from one room to another packing phones, laptops, and other valuables belonging to students.
On a visit to the robbery scene, students and sympathisers lamented the incessant robbery incidents in Ijebu-Igbo.
“No security in Ijebu Igbo. Shall we wait until they kill all of us? An injustice to one is an injustice to all.” A student protested while expressing his displeasure to AAPOLY NEWS.
Students have however embarked on the street to protest incessant killings, maiming and robbery of students in Ijebu Igbo community. Students were seen converging at strategic locations as well as the front of the Ijebu North Local Government secretariat.
They have also called the school management, security agents and the state government to intervene by providing adequate security of lives and properties.
The body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary at about 11:45pm. Earlier today, the parents of the deceased had come to claim the body.
The incident has also affected academic activities as lectures could not hold today.
The registrar of the polytechnic, Mr. Osiyale while addressing students announced that examination has been postponed to 7th March, 2016 while registration and preparation towards exam continue.
