EUROBOMBER: Ojukwu never intended to harm innocent Yorubas, we invaded d West because we wanted to capture d capital nd sack Gowon. Yoruba was nt d focus of d invassion.Lol this guy no kill persin o You wanted to capture the capital lol Olodumare Gba wa o |
dayokanu: Imo is no mans land.Precisely! What is causing all these problems now? Why cant we all get along? Why are the people of Imo not allowing our Fulani/Hausas brothers to live peacefully in Imo state where they have invested heavily over the years? |
mikeapollo: Shameless people! That is a very subjective comment. I think it would be more appropriate if we can ascertain the ethnic group that is mainly responsible for these crimes. |
ngozievergreen: am sure u wrote dis cos of these ngbatic losers. You see this is the problem with our IGBO brothers and sisters on NL. This fellow is either deluded or suffering from brain poisoning, how can anyone justify Drug smuggling and the negative effects it is having on the image of the country? All those problems you mentioned i.e. Omo-Onile, Agbero etc are problems we have locally and can be addressed internally. Drug peddling is a problem we have and a certain tribe has exported to all corners of the world and in the process have dented the image of Nigeria. I think you be ashamed of yourself for writing that post. |
ballabriggs: You see one thing I have noticed when threads like this come up is, it is those mgbeke's and agavu's that have never really lived in Lagos who come online to post crap about our Lagos.@Ballbriggs Oma da fun e! Amin! The problem with all these haters is that they are wired to be hateful and a lot of them do not understand that being Lagosian transcends tribe or ethnic affiliation but like our able Governor has shown yesterday, if you are a nuisance, you will be sent to the immigration distribution center in ONISHA en route to their village ![]() |
inice: This is sheer inhumanity to humanity and open hatred. This is Cain blood-line in display. This is an indirect call for division yet we pretend we are one Nigeria. "The Igbos should go and develop their land." Is Nigeria as a nation developed? When bribery and corruption is on rampage. These are the alliens we should attack not fellow citizens of Nigeria. The US opens visa each year to their country. Even the yorubas seize the opportunity. Here, we are talking about citizens of Nigeria. Can the SW survive alone without others. If truly Lagos Satate has done this to any citizen of naija, then I did they are really callous n if reciprocal action is taken by the victimized, then we are calling for DIVISION. Jealousy n hatred will not solve our problems in this country. Nigeria has been listed the 8th most corrupt nation n SW is busy compounding problems with inhumanitarian actions. Wicked people that did not love even themselves but live in pretense. Ekaro sir but with wickedness in their heart. May God forgive this country of her wickedness and lawlessness. Please stop exaggerating and hyperventilating o jare. Cain blood line ko Abel Sperm line ni Absolute rubbish!! Accusing Yorubas of being inhuman and wicked? Ok let us hear from you the Igbos- apparently you are the beacon of compassion, honesty and loyalty msheww. We have welcomed you with open hands in the SW, have you accorded us same in your states? Yorubas are pragmatic and interesting people- you want us to sit down and watch while the state turns to some places in the SE where kidnapping is a Multi-Billion Business? No we will send a message that we will remove any criminal or nuisance to their village like the LASG removed some people to ONISHA yesterday |
Classicalman: Yorubas are the most confused tribe in NIGERIA. imagine fashola deporting igbo, edo, delta and even hausa people to Anambra? what does he intend to gain from that? if people start deporting all yorubas from all over the country, im sure they will be the first to start begging.Rubbish- we are pragmatic and not mad people! We remove "immigrants" who are not productive and have come to OUR state to be nuisances. We have a lot of hardworking IGBOS, HAUSAS etc in Lagos, they are free to enjoy their life and contribute to OUR state. What happened yesterday is a gentle reminder of who owns the state at the end of the day. You all can huff and puff all you like , you distort the facts as much as you wish- it does not change the TRUTH. I think we all know which tribe will suffer the most if every state starts to remove criminals and indolent people who are not originally from their states. Apart from Abuja, where would you find a large concentration of Yorubas outside the SW? We have everything we need to survive, we need "immigrants" now and again but they are removed sharply when they over step their mark- an example is those who were taken to ONISHA yesterday. |
Onlytruth: Professor of English language, we use "deportation" in this case because of the INTENT of the governor of Lagos, which is demonstrated by his choice of Onitsha -the BORDER POINT OF defunct Biafra.Thank you for your contribution, although it does not surprise me that you have not said anything intelligent. I notice you have been very vocal in this thread - very emotive and clearly being sentimental. Sorry I will not buy your conspiracy theories about the "Border Point of Defunct Biafra" That is hogwash to me unless you can provide proof that this was the LASG's intention- I am sorry but I will not engage with someone who playing the victim, I deal with facts not opinions. I have explained to you that this not DEPORTATION but then I know how some folks find it very difficult to comprehend simple things,AFAIK, the government "REMOVED and RELOCATED" this miscreants who this time were Igbos using the most economically and logistical viable means. |
First of all I have to say Igbo Kwenu to my Ndigbo Brothers- I salute you! I have gone through the thread and I simply couldn't miss the extent to which you guys are murdering the English Language and its not a one off- it is a reoccurring theme with 99% of Igbo posters on here. My suggestion will be- can you guys come together and turn this shelling skills into some sort of Weapon- I can assure you that you will possess one of the most devastating ammunitions the world has ever seen and it will greatly help you in achieving your Biafra dream. @Topic I think what the eminent Governor has done should be applauded by all- it is indeed a right step in the right direction. A lot of folks here are either illiterate or are not making an accurate interpretation of what happened. First of all, this is not DEPORTATION i.e. they have not been extricated outside of the Nigerian state but simply removed from a geographical state where they have turned themselves to nuisances and unproductive elements. If they are have being deported then they will be unable to return back to Lagos as they will face immigration control on their return but this is not the case, these people can simply board a bus and return tomorrow. The actions of the LASG is intended to send a much needed message that Lagos is an economic centre of excellence and they will not tolerate indolence and criminal activities. Honestly I don't why some of our Igbo brothers and sisters are getting so upset about this. Like it has been suggested severally on this thread, you should put intense pressure on your leaders to give you similar opportunities in your states of origin and if you get so worked up about it, advise your governors to reciprocate the gesture. For all those you who have suddenly turned to lawyers and suddenly gained a PhD in Constitutional Law immediately you saw the report, I will implore you to go and read up because there have been precedence for relocation and movement of miscreants even within a political and economic union. |
Sagamite: Thank you jor.If we follow your logic and two chics mess up on the 14th year at different times, thats about 30 years of waste already bruv lol With regards to the topic, yes I used to find Sagamite very irritating because he repetitively calls anyone that opposes his views names and I felt it was inappropriate but the undeniable fact is that Nairaland is not exactly a civilised forum- is it? People swear and make indecent remarks on an hourly basis without any penalty. I personally find it quite hillarious that some Mods are complaining about him when there are no enforceable rules or a defined template to deal with such situations. As far as I am concerned, in a lot of exchanges with opposing views, he usually expresses himself relatively well and gives as much as he gets. He is brash, confident, sure of himself - no hassle in my opinion. When I come to Nairaland, I read sagamite and dayokanu's posts because I know I will surely be entertained and probably get some useful information. In summary, dont blame the player- blame the system. Essentially, It is petty, ridiculous, almost bordering on hypocrisy when people critise particular posters when the general attitude is the same- well unless you feel threatened by them. |
josite: to be candid.you overreacted by sacking the company.all you ought to have done is to report the erring cleaner and demand she be redepolyed away from your clinic permanently and further insist only well trained staff be depolyed to your company.as u said it depends on the terms of the contract,it may be the offence of a staff entitles you to terminate by contract.Sacked the company?? Or you meant he terminated a binding contract that was violated by the actions of one the company's employees. You suggested that they asked for the "redeployment" of this worker to another organisation, same worker that incidentally displayed an intolerable behaviour? So that her incompetence can be replicated elsewhere?? Surely, you must be having a laugh! Fairplay to the OP and it will be an opportunity for the company to revise their hiring model- to only employ workers that are suitable for the role they are employed for and share the company's Missions and goals if they have one. In todays world, the quality of service is paramount and customers have an array of choices; to keep them such behavior is untenable. I would tear up the contract too because I have customers to satisy. |
Obama in my opinion might have just shot himself and any chance of re-election in the foot by publicly supporting Gay marriage. Surely, we are all aware that this issue is an accutely divisive globally and even more so in the US. A recent poll supposedly indicates an equal spilt in public opinion, if this is put in perspective, he has lost the votes of the religious elements of the democratic party, black Americans, Jews and definitely the independents. He would however gain the support of gay Americans and admittedly a large vote from "progressive" young voters. I wish him the best of luck! My contention based on the arguement on this thread is the ridiculous attempt by some posters to equate Gay marriage to the emancipation of black people or some sort of civil right. I do not know if people are born gay neither do I care! How they live their lives is basically their prerogative as long as they dont affect my life negatively. I am black and everyone can see it even if I deny it or like MJ I decide to bleach it off, it would be apparent! A gay person does not have such biological or physical contraints, no melanin involved! (Please, any refutation should be based on very incontrovertible empirical evidence) In respect of gay marraige? My opinion is firstly, we should not give a d-amn what people do with their bodies behind closed doors. Secondly and more importantly, I will like a very honest answer why Gay people need to get married to ascertain their relationship? There are opportunities for civil partnerships in numerous jurisdictions which gives them similar rights to married heterosexual couples. The advocation for marriage for gay people in my opinion is pointless and maybe an attempt to push it too far. |
damilola15: Just as some Le Penn supporters said, Holland is not any better than Sarkozy, they just didn't have other options. That is the nature of French preseidential elections though. In my opinion, Sarkozy had to go! He is very arrogant, self centered, rewarded the rich while advocating policies that stiffled the middle class. He nailed his own coffin when out of desperation began spouting extreme right rhetorics. His attitude in addressing the Euro economic crisis has been self serving and pompous. He is a phenomenal politician, but on this occasion, he failed. |
cap28:You make some valid points but my opinion is that she had all the time and support to make amends and deviate from her destructive path. I referred to the birth of her child as unfortunate because her daughter was born in a household where both parents were regular and long-term drug users. If they were not celebrities, that girl would have been removed by the authorities. You are correct about the external influences that the average "superstar" faces but my opinion is that she could have done things differently. I agree we should let her rest in peace and celebrate her achievements; but it is important that her life should be used as an example to educate people on the negative impact of drugs. She was one in a million-no doubt! But to say we wont see another like her is pushing it. She made an impact and we are grateful but there are lots of talents out there yet to be tapped, her life will teach them on how to maximise their potential without making the same mistakes. |
It is really sad that W.Houston had to die at a relatively young age. I cannot comment on the exact cause of death as a post mortem is yet to be carried out, but given her lifestyle and way she was found (in a bath tub), it is sensible to infer that she likely died of drug related activities. Like a poster pointed out earlier, just days ago she was embroiled in a scuffle with journalists and photgraphers after she had partied with friends. There is also speculations she was about to be declared bankrupt in the coming weeks, it is a possibility that her lifestyle and the fact she was about to loose everything contributed to her death. I have read the arguements on this thread about her legacy which essentially is based on whether she got what was coming to her or whether she should be remembered for her talent and her contribution (which was immence) to the music industry. Actually, I think both parties are right regardless of the usual brickering on NL. My take on her life can be summarised by her own admission in an interview with O.Winferey where she admitted that "she was her own worst enemy". Lots of folks have understandably come with scathing attacks on B.Brown for his negative influence on her life i.e. drug taking, abuse etc but if we realistically examine that relationship from the beginning, she made the choice to be with him knowing fully well that he was just a low life gangster that had bad habits. He dragged her down but remember she did the chasing. They had a very turbulent relationship which unfortunately led to the birth of a daughter, I am wondering why this did not her make change her ways to give a good example to her daughter- remember she was raised in a church going family. The marraige has been over for over a decade and she did not do anything differently, she missed concerts, lost a considerable amount of weight and all the while was in denial about her drug problems. I am not here to castigate her. We are human afterall and all have our weaknesses and are fallible creatures. My arguement is that we have to recognise her failures and not just do the usual RIP without examining the fact that she had a lot of years ahead of her to make great inputs in her field. Some might argue that it is a tad too early for such critisisms- probably! However it is important that we use her case as informational and instructive to the current /future generation of youngsters on the ills of drug taking and the extraordinary negative impact it can have on people no matter how promising and talented they are. We must also celebrate her life because she was an inspiration and had a pivotal, positive effect on people all over the world hence why we are discussing her relatively short life. I hope she has found the peace that she desperately needed . |
Very sad end to a talented singer- RIP I don't think we would be surprised as to the cause of death- unfortunately. Source below: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/46355454 |
Evil Brain: Beaf:Sorry that sounds a bit contrived to me. I think it is counter-intuitive to introduce a policy that significantly increases the hardship of most Nigerians without putting forward measures to placate those that would mostly feel the negative effects. I understand the dirty nature of Nigerian politics but if indeed the new administration want a fresh start as they say- I would wager that openess and clarity would be a good way to start, |
Beaf:But isn't that putting the cart before the horse? How can a policy be formulated and be promulgated without a consise and clear framework that would alleviate the impact of the policy on the most vulnerable in the society? You say Iweala and Allison have "mentioned" education, maternal care etc, so essentially no palliative measures have effectively been put in place ? |
Beaf:@ Beaf, you have made some good points about the need for the removal of subsidy but you have consistently failed to address the effect of this policy on the average Nigerian. Without over-emphasizing what other posters have mentioned, there is simply no way low income earners ( who form the majority by the way) in the country can afford the new price of PMS without adversely affecting their disposable income, livelihood etc with in turn will have a negative effect on the real economy,a la- lower demand in good and services, increase in unemployment, general malaise in the economy, Admittedly, you say the effect of the subsidy removal would lead to temporary pains that would have future gains. The problem however, is that we have heard this before as past posters have enunciated, it seems to be a recycle of failed policies. Do not get me wrong, in economic terms, it makes sense but given the very chaotic nature of the political system in Nigeria- how can GEJ and his government convince Nigerians that they would eventually reap the benefits of a policy that will definitely cause untold hardship to the "avearge Nigerian"? More importantly, I have not heard anything from this government on how they intend to develop other sectors in the economy, so much emphasis is placed on the Oil sector- it seems to be a reoccuring phenomenon. I am a proponent of intelligent critical analysis, but going by the antecedents of GEJ since he came to power, I am not confident this would be be beneficial for the country in the long term. |
This man GEJ is daftness personified! He should start by addressing pertinent issues facing him at home, Nigeria is gradually been regarded as a terrorist country with all the Bokoharam debacle going on. I might be wrong but as far as I know, no one has been prosecuted for these bombings. He is very good at reactionary statements but there is no evidence of proactive measures to curtail this evil trend. He can go on facebook and spout out nonsense all he wants but the reality is that his administration has failed in protecting the country from these criminals. On the economic frontier, he has performed even worse! No innovative thinking or measures/solutions, it is all the same regurgitated policies we are used to- increase oil prices at the detriment of average Nigerians that are struggling to make ends meet and interestingly enough, the citizenry are not been offered any form of safety nets i.e increases in salary /reduction in taxes/government stimulus in the form of direct payments. He claims to have a Phd, which I think is negatively telling in regards to the standard of education in Nigeria, he has not offered any innovative solution, rather he is relying on the expertise of Okonjo Iwenla who has been trained all her professional life to persuade developing countries and impose policies that are necessary to benefit the developed world. In a nutshell, there is no way GEJ can ask for foreign countries to respect Nigeria and Nigerians if he has not accorded them the same . |
gidson12:I agree that it is just dreams. Ondo state can do far better than that with all the intellectuals that the state supposedly produces. The government should be looking for more creative and innovative ways of creating employment and raising revenue, however it is the name of the journalist that makes me laugh, lol. Surely, he would have had a hard time explaining to people the meaning of his name, OLADOYINBO, |
all4naija:You are still not getting the point and it is quite unfortunate for someone that came out with a 1st class. Essesntially that information you have provided is useless if there is no denominator to make a mathematical comparison. Coming 3rd in a class of 5 is qualitatively not a novel achievement, although it does not debase your result/achievement but that cannot be used as a measurement to determine your capability. In terms of the arguement about which University is better? I would wager that it would be a straight forward answer. Why? In making the determination about the superiority of these institutions, key elements should be considered: 1. The qualifications of the faculty- there is no way CU would measure up to UI in terms of the qualifications held by lecturers. I have read articles by senior lecturers in CU, some are decent but most are below average. 2. Reputation- That is clear, UI has a better reputation than CU, the truth is that the possibility of CU been known outside of Nigeria is remotely slim. 3. Grants/ Financial base- Even if Winners Chapel put all their offerings to develop CU, they cannot compete with UI 4. Most importantly- The level of education- Universities are citadels of learning where students are supposed to have freedom of thought, exhibit critical thinking, develop the ability to make informed matured decisions etc. With the level of control and censorship in CU, i dont think these qualities can be entrenched in the students. CU comes across as a unit of a religious establishment that imposes their doctrinal beliefs on the students. There is no way they can measure up to any Federal university based on that reality. |
dayokanu:Dayo you are mad, lol .This made me laugh, but I agree with you. Such is the state of the Nigerian educational system! |
