Sagamite:I can see the logic in your arguement, I have family members that I have known most of my life and some of their actions surprise me and I am absolutely positive that they feel the same about moi. When it comes to a relationship akin to marraige , it is a lot different in the sense that you are getting together with someone that you probably share your body with . It is monumentally complex when emotions are combined with sexual feelings I totally agree with pre-nups because they mitigate mess-ups but my problem is : Are pre-nups legally tenable? If they are! Are they enforceable? If they are enforceable, are they open to interpretion from members of the deciding judiciary? If that is the case , then pre-nups are not really valid ( a priori). |
dayokanu:My brother, It is a very complex world we live in at the moment. Gone are those days where our mums stood by her dads irrespective of the situation. The world has changed in terms of marraige, feminism has altered the dynamic! while I appreciate the fact that they had to stand up and confront domestic violence and some apparent injustices that women were subjected to, but like all social empowerment causes e.g. Gay rights, Black movements etc, it has created a dangerous politically correct syndrome that is gradually eroding the core of societal values. Dayo, the only advice I can offer anyone is to meticulously and carefully choose a partner .It is highly important to know your wife/husband to be! Do they think/act independently or do they rely on family to make decisions? The truth is if I am rich or if I had visible/ identifiable prospects to be very wealthy in this day and age I will not get married until I am satisfied that there is a genuine commitment from both parties . |
Sagamite:Sagamite, I cant really comment on how sensible he is i.e whether he ia mumu or not, lol but this link says he did sign a pre-nup! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-122815/Heathers-20m-pre-nuptial-deal-Sir-Paul.html |
dayokanu:Hey Boss, Welcome news! But I will approach it with extreme caution, courts in most western countries reportedly have sexist agenda when it comes to issues of this nature. For instance Sir Paul McCartney signed a pre-nup with with ex wife Heather Miller that expressly stipulated that she gets £20 million in the event of a divorce but the courts disregarded this and gave her more. On the other hand, when men have sought to exercise their rights with regards to Pre-nup arrangements, there has been different outcomes: Below are examples in the UK for instance. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1197008/Landmark-court-victory-cements-pre-nups-English-law-100million-heiress-wins-court-battle-ex-husband.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1172279/Heiress-fights-cut-ex-husband-100m-fortune-landmark-test-Britains-pre-nuptial-laws.html I am not alluding that I necessarily agree that there is some sort of conspiracy against men in the pre-nup enforcement equation but the statistics of pre-nup court decisions seem to validate the fact that in pre-nup court cases , the wealthier female will in most cases win. I am not too sure about the legalities of pre-nups in the USA i.e whether they are infinitely bounded by the law but in most European countries it is just a piece of paper until it is adjudicated upon by a court of law and evidence of most judicial outcomes support the theory that it is more like to favour females. The summary is that until pre-nups are constitutionally binding, they are still legally subject to the interpretations ( invariably the discretions) of the presiding judge/judges. |
dayokanu:Ha!!! My wifey dey ask all sorts of questions now!, lol We no dey fear nobody at the time! and I doubt we do now. Na Dapo hit the guy wey still decoder for eye, I see blood commot for him eye and i shiver! I remember the OTU incident!, he dey mess up and we generally treat him Bleep up, haha If we dey there , na to quitely take am go them Hakeem estate and it would be free for all, lol |
viewlekan:Bros!!, na wa o!!, I tire dayokanu:My brother I tire!!!, Nostalgia, rite there, I remember in 1998 when one guy that stole a ceiling fan and some clothes was " punished" swiftly beyond recognition. That is the Akowonjo I knew. We no dey cause trouble and police no dey bother us but if you mess with us -na war. Its a pity that the Nigerian police force has denegerated to such low levels ( as if I didnt know) , How can you kill a man because of 50 naira (simply insane), my prayers are with the guy's family but like you said he wont have lasted 5 mins on "our street", no be mouth!!! |
dayokanu:Ahem!!, My brother na wa o!!!, our area!! It is very sad that all this is happening in peace-loving Akowonjo, all we do is flenjo and think strategically. Akowonjo would boast of the most number of MEN that have made it from nothing( We dey Hussle and enjoy against all odds). Its pathetic that this incidence occured just where I grew up nad learnt how to be a man but I agree with you that that policeman is very lucky to be alive- I really doubt if the same would have happened 5 or 6 years ago!!, Dayo I thought we left a good legacy?? anyway nothing do us!!! |
Sorry D1, had to bring it in here to stir some waters!! ![]() Haha, I applaud your performance as the self appointed spokesman of German footbal!! but in all fairness your assertions are becoming ridiculous at the moment. Your statement about Ballack making a difference to the team is just simply nonsensical , I dont know how a single player can make such a difference to a team of 23 players such that they would beat England in " Buckingham Palace" Shocked, give us a break DK!, admittedly, there are players that could have such talismanic effects on their team but the Ballack of 2010 is def not in that category ( Bless him - he was refused an extension in chelsea and reportedly he is back in Leuverkesen Sad) I really liked your analogy about Tuns and Franca ( Brought back such lovely memories) , lol. I will attempt to give you a similar yet more realistic conceptual illustration so you can understand my position and I would be using your fav sports, Sex, lol. If Dayo has a reputation for been a top dude in the bedroom department and is respected for his swagger and delivery in bringing smiles to the ladies but as usual after the law of diminishing returns sets in and is not able to perform as he used to and Taofeek after nuff practises and patience is deemed to be a prefered option to D1, would that be surprising??, The Germans are regarded as a strong footballing nation and have performed over the years but I am sorry to say the present crop of players have no clue, they were extremely lucky against the Ghanians and that is the truth!!, England have not been spectacular either but you can just sense that they have that something extra to defeat the Germans. My arguement is we c |

My arguement is we can ascribe a potential German loss to inexperience, rubbish!!!, no one said that when they had a fluke of a game by beating Australia by 4-0. |
dayokanu:Dayo you speak fom both sides of your mouth sometimes . You have done done nothing but villified English football in its entirety over the years and even two days ago, you predicted doom and gloom for the English team in their second round match against "the Great Germans" , all of a sudden you are giving excuses for a highly likely German loss to England. On the contrary, I would have surmised that the Germans been a youthful team will use that as an adavantage to overcome the supposedly " inept , clumsy and incompetent " English team that is the second oldest team in this World Cup tourney. I believe you see the inevitable happening- which is England beating the Germans !!, and using the absense of some players as an excuse to justify their loss. I have made a calculated decision not to bet on this match because it is highly unpredictable due to the fact that it is going to be more of a mental and emotional game than physical or skill-based- the Germans traditionally should win in such a situation but I think England has the mental edge at the moment , ( and this can be observed from the jittery and ridiculous comments by Franz beckenbauer ), I'll show my hands, see below, I predict England wins in 90 minutes!!! |
12large:The first part of your post is quite ridiculous. In all honesty, Kanu remains one of the best footballers Nigeria ever had. He gave the country his all and was always proud to be a Nigerian. I have watched lots of his interviews on BBC and CNN, yes, he is not eloquent but he never ceased to acknowlege his love for for Nigeria and football. This dude also saved a lot of lives through his Kanu Heart Foundation by not only consistently raising awareness about the dangers of heart conditions but also sponsoring victims of the disease for corrective operations. I watched a lot of portsmouth matches last season and I never saw Kanu play the way he did against the South Koreans. I am sure we all know that Kanu uses the notorious " Nigerian age" which means he must be close to his 40s if not older but he showed more exuberance and agility than players that are purportedly in their early -mid twenties, P.S No one has the right to suggest he retired from Club football, he has the right to play as long as his legs and health dictate. The decision is strictly left to him!! Kanu well done, nutin do you !! |
The French team seems to be imploding at a first rate!, how art the mighty fallen Source: http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2890/world-cup-2010/2010/06/19/1984521/world-cup-2010-france-forward-nicolas-anelka-could-be-sent Reports emanating from France Saturday morning underlined the scale of the rift in les Bleus’ camp, with Nicolas Anelka’s angry and very frank exchange of words with coach Raymond Domenech at half-time in the recent Mexico fixture the culmination of weeks of tension. France Football states that with les Bleus tied 0-0 with el Tri after 45 minutes, Domenech gathered his troops in the dressing room at the interval, but Anelka was not impressed by what the coach had to say. Domenech “firmly but politely” told ‘Nico’ that he was to stop dropping deep from his centre forward role, or else he would be replaced. “Go f*** yourself, you dirty son of a b****,” the Chelsea ace is reported to have replied. “Ok, off you go,” Domenech said to the striker, who was by then already making his way to the shower. The newspaper added that a disciplinary meeting will take place on Saturday afternoon to decide Anelka's fate, while RMC has reported on Saturday morning that the forward could now be sent back home prematurely. But the former Real Madrid striker was not the only France player to respond unprofessionally on Thursday. David Astorga, a journalist with TF1, tried to interview William Gallas on the field after the Mexico defeat, but the out-of-contract Arsenal centre-back gave him what the French call ‘the finger of honour’. |
I am still recovering from the outcome of today's match, we had everything going for us until the Kaita incidence. I can presume that if he hadn't recieved a red card we would have comfortably won the match . I still opine that I am more comfortable with lagerback as a coach than Amodu and it has absolutely nothing to do with lagerback being a foreign coach cuz I would have preferred Siasia as our coach in all honesty. It was very unfortunate that the red card came earlier on in the match and that affected the team drastically. The Nigerian team is not known for its discipline and focus during matches hence i knew we were in trouble immediately such Kaita was shown the red card as he plays a very important role in the midfield, lets be frank- if it was it was Enyeama that was sent off (God Forbid!!) we could still have won the match but loosing such a pivotal player in the midfield was disastrous for the team dynamic. I applaud the courage of the Greek team and their coach because they displayed high levels of tenancity and forward thinking because I doubt if Nigeria would have taken advantage of the same situation. Haven said that, and I surprise myself by saying this- I believe that this could be a blessing in disguise, the group is still "wide open " for Greece, S.Korea and Nigeria. Barring any surprises, Argentina would comforatbly and easily beat Greece and all Nigeria needs is a win, just a win!!, its going to be difficult as the S.Koreans are no push overs, but we have a mental advantage??///Enyeama is the darling of the world cup at the moment and he knows this and would put up his best performance and equally the Nigerian side can change formation/players for the third match . Lagerback has no choice but to put forward an attacking formation next tuesday. He has to play Etuhu, Haruna, Osaze and probably Uche in the same match. While Yakubu has surprised me with his average level of hunger as opposed to the usual nonchalant attitude, it would be interesting to see Martins start the game. The ball is out of our court and we cannot decide our fate but all the things being equal and with some measure of luck , i would not be surprised if Nigeria qualifies for the second round. After that , it would be expedient to start making preparations to return home, just my thoughts |
Beaf:Funny that! for someone that is calling for a UN investigation into the matter and you have already arrived at your own conclusions- what school did you go again?? |
Beaf:Ironic, isnt it, A nigerian trying to educate isrealis about civility There is almost no basis for comparison between the two cases, canada lives in peace and is not in constant fear for the lives of its citizens and thier property, on the other hand Israel is always under attack by its nieghbors, I see no plausible reason why they shouldnt be proactive to protect their nation- they owe their citizens that much. |
Beaf:Just like I imagined!!, you would never be straight- it is your prerogative to bring evidence to the table to substantiate your point, this is not a beer parlour where people bring all sorts of anectodal stories and dates to negate facts. You seem very hostile towards the israelis and the reason is quite simple- the Jewish state is a democracy that consistently tries to appease the international community and explain its actions even in the face of unbelievable hatred from its arab neighbors. I cannot recount such level of uproar when North korea sank a whole ship a few weeks ago!! neither was there a UN investigation when Russia dealt swiftly with the Chechen opposition, Isreal is seen a soft target by marxist, anti-semetic ideolgues. Like a poster mentioned earlier, I believe a lot of this criticism stems from intense jealousy, a small country of just over 6 million people with such powerful economic base, technological advancement and immence influence- its a enough concern for the unsuccessful and feeble minded! |
Mr Beef , can u plsss sharrap there, u are just making a fool of yourself. u have been asked countless times to justify your claim about the US consulting widely during the Cuba debacle, you ignored the call rather you use native wisdom to bamboozle people. Just because this is a faceless medium does not mean you can conduct yourself in such a disgraceful manner. i can equally recollect that you didnt not know that prior to 1948, the modern day isrealis were refered to as palestinian jews and even after a poster educated you on this, you still continued arguing blindly!! Your analysis of the incident that occured is very one-sided and biased, It is apparent that you are one of those folks who decide to take this position for the sake of being refered to as critically minded but unfrotunately you come across as someone who is very shallow, knows very little about history and a " a king of the internet" who sources arguemental viewpoints from the media without evaluating the geniuity or authenticity of their claims. P.S As usual i await your abusive comments, it wont surprise anyone- it would just continue to validate the forums perception of you being intellectually deficient and making up for your inadequacies!! |
slyfoxxjoe:Well I think you must be the one deluded or just self-absorbed!!! Different colleges have different grading systems for their postgraduate programmes, some schools just give the three you mentioned while others have a broader grading system. Always argue with facts and stop replying other peoples posts by insulting them, it tends to show you are very uncouth!! |
I must confess that this thread has proved to be quite interesting, some of the views offered have been well informed and articulate while others have been simply shambolic. When analysing issues of this nature, it is necessary to take a critical perspective and not just reply to a thread for the sake of expressing personal opinion. my take on this issue are: 1. Was Isreal heavy-handed in its approach ? probably, but if i was leader of a country of 6 million citizens/inhabitants ( which surprisingly includes moslems and arabs - where they are able to worship freely) and I am surrounded by countries with a population of over 300 million people who do not believe that my country should be in existence in the first place and consistently seek my country's destruction, i would be inclined to have a similar position. 2. I think it is quite disingenious for some folks to quote from particular sources and portray them as the gospel truth while they cast aspertions on other sources ,I have noticed the BBC been quoted a lot nad yet when they aired their " Lagos series a few weeks ago" folks were upset as they felt it misrepresented the true picture of affairs in the city. Moral of the story- No one media outlet is 100% accurate- they all vested interests and the earlier we understand that the better. 3. I have watched the footage released by IDF, and it shows some of the activists on board the ship been uneccasrily aggresive towards the soldiers - it doesnt happen anywhere. Yes, the IDF could have utilized a more collaborative approach but truthfully speaking the millitary in most countries would have used force to mitigate such a situation. for eg North Korea did not only attack a south korean ship a couple of weeks ago but it sank it with over 150 people on board- didnt get as much outcry!! P.S Alhaji Muzb, I still await your aljaezera footage of the activists waving white flags because that could honestly take the issue to another dimension. |
vinisky:There is absolutely no need to use such strong language, as much as we might disagree with a lot of his assertions, certainly no need for name calling!!! |
I am so loving this, This is a such a beautiful thing!!!!, like numerous posters have been asking Where is Dayokanu ??/ |
Interesting statistics. Did you notice that the number country was the European Union and then the second largest was united States. Lol, lots of countries in the European Union, when you separate all of them Naija will go back to 59th position hehe This is besides the point of the thread but seriously whoever wrote the above comment needs to update their knowledge on basic ecnomics and it also encapsulates the attitude of most people that try to argue on the internet, they spout out nonsense as facts without carefully reading . The list clearly shows the eu in first position but also includes individual countries of the eu like the UK, Germany etc, |
BAC:The level of analysis by you and some others is quite bewildering to say the least!!, last time I checked Nigeria was supposed to be a democratic state with all the characteristics of a representative government. A former head of state just confirmed that his successor was in fact selected rather than been elected and you are telling us about paying debt , do you really understand he could only afford to pay it because a substantial part of that debt was forgiven. You could as well roll out the drums in Otta and expect some naira notes, seriously instead of these crass praise worship, you should be asking key questions like what business obj had with selecting yaradua ? |
Guardian:I understand your point but you seem to make it so simple!, 1. What he ate or drank on the airplane might not have triggered his ailment on the plane, this could be a result of what he consumed prior boarding?/ 2.Nothing was mentioned about him being ill before travelling , I am sure you have heard of people falling ill suddenly, it happens all the time! 3. You were not there , ( neither was I ), so you cant adequately comment on what or waht didn't transpire between this dude and the airline workers, In summary, its pretty obvious that the said fellow was profiled because he was Nigerian, , considering that his fellow country man tried to blow up an airplane just a day before, I would be reasonable and acknowledge the fact that if I was in the airline's position I would have done the same, its natural to logically make assumptions between two similar behavior, given the level of informational opacity that these folks have about Nigeria, Having said that, I think its time that we as Nigerians start to make constructive arguements and not resort to ethnic bashing!!!, I therefore apologise for all my comments in this thread against my eastern Nigerian brothers, we cannot paint a whole set of people by the actions of a few!!!! |
metal-gong:You never fail to disaapoint me , You must be a genius at been stupid!!!, I think its hugely disingenious for any one from eastern Nigerian to accuse other Nigerians ( while been conscious, as in not under the influence) of tarnishing the image of this country. , are u insane ??, ( over 90% of people caught trafficking Drugs from Nigeria and abroad are from your end) and what is calamitous is your above quote about prostitution, political assasinations etc, are for effing reeel!!!!!, that is what your people have absolute comparative advantage over the rest of the populace( go to Germany, eastern europe, the Uk etc , most african drug peddlers are from eastern Nigeria), .interestingly u mentioned political issues ( well, I am aware that a certain ex CBN governors father , some actors were recently kidnapped , and guess where ?)Admittedly we have bad elements in every ethnic group,, but the level of atrousious activities by eastern Nigerians is of great concern!!!!!!, I respect Chinua Achebe and a few of you, but there is were it stops!!!, the level of your mentality is abysmal when you cannot decipher between a terrorist who attempts to blow up a plane and some shiite in "onipanu", you and your sympathisers would talk about nonsensical issues about thier relatedness, but hold up, Nigeria ( internally is almost a failed nation, hence we have the likes of Massob and Opc, ). The Yoruba nation would never ever apologise to the Ibos, because we have done nothing but support you, while in your usual charasteristic behaviour , never fail to castigate us, guess what ( Newsflash!!!!!!) , we are moving on!!!!!!, I advise you to do the same ( not that u have the common sense to do that) |
metal-gong:This is precisely the problem with the Nigerian state, eejits like yourself!!!!, you must be living in another planet not to know that if not for Yorubas , there would be no Nigeria ( Yes I am Yoruba and proud and I honestly feel we deserve better than Nigeria), All you can come up with is some rubbish about some Nigerian police arresting Yorubas, are u 12!!!, you should be aware of the Yoruba peoples contribution to the country u claim ( and I would deliberately not give instances as I feel it would be too much for your IQ), We are discussing a terror threat on a global scale , your triffling degenerated mind is referring to an incident in "Onipanu", are you for real??, you need help!!! mate Have you been overseas b4 ??, obviously not!!!, most professionals are of Yoruba extraction( , and I didnt say all, u cant be all dullards), U need to think b4 you post next time ( this is not a forum for duping people or setting up prostitution, ), Word!!!!! |
metal-gong:Are u an idiot of some sorts!!!!, Me thinks the yorubas have done more than wherever you are form to give this country a good name!!!! |
Apparently after the aftermath of this naughty person( Abdul, whatever his name is) trying to blow up a plane in the US, the profiling has began. An innocent Nigerian petrochemical engineer travelling to the US on business was detained on suspision of being a terroist, only for them to find out that he actually had food poisoning ,this is what I detest!!!!!!!! |

I think we are over-reacting a bit. Yes, it is a disgrace that one of us(unfortunately), tried to blow himself up with "firecrackers" ( a bit silly for someone who apparently was studying Engineering), but I dont think it would mean profiling of Nigerians as Terrorists ( the CIA and FBI and other security agencies know better), yes there are going to be elements in the country who are crazy enough to blow up themselves, but we all know that they form a very very very minute part of the Nigerian population( and these security agencies know this as well). If you guys can recollect that one of the sucide bombers in london in 2005 was a Jamaican muslim convert and this has not led to labelling jamaica as a terriorist country, yes some would argue that ther are more muslims in Nigeria than Jamaica , but as Nigerians we know our deficiencies, ( poverty, corruption, 419 etc), blowing up ourselves in the name of religion is certainly not one of our problems to be honest!!!, We would get over this |
