The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) – brainchild of Industrialist, philanthropist and founder of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has awarded Ogun State Government a N2.5billion Naira ASR Africa Tertiary Healthcare Systems Support grant towards the construction of a Mother & Child Hospital at the state-owned Olabisi Onabanjo University. This N2.5billion grant, which was presented to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun at a ceremony in Abeokuta, was drawn from the $100million annual ASR Africa Fund for Social Development and Renewal.
Presenting the award letter for the “ASR Africa Mother & Child Hospital” to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Ubon Udoh, Managing Director, ASR Africa Initiative said the grant was part of efforts by Abdul Samad Rabiu, the founder and Executive Chairman of BUA Group to give back to Nigeria and the Africa continent. Udoh added that the state-focused Tertiary Healthcare Systems Support Grant was awarded to Ogun State and 3 others in 2021 in recognition of their current efforts in delivering quality healthcare services and infrastructure within those states.
According to Udoh, “The grant is part of efforts of the Chairman of the BUA Group Abdul Samad Rabiu to give back to the African Continent and make a lasting impact in sustainable development as a means of uplifting and restoring the dignity and lives of Africans. “We believe that upon completion, the N2.5billion ASR Africa Maternal & Child Hospital will boost the tertiary healthcare delivery system, train adequate personnel, and drastically reduce maternal and child mortality rates in Ogun state.”, he added.
Reacting, Governor Dapo Abiodun thanked the ASR Africa Initiative and its founder Abdul Samad Rabiu for their continuous support to the people of Ogun State and noted that his government remains focused on improving the socio-economic well-being of citizens especially around healthcare delivery.
The Governor said the ASR Africa Mother and Child Hospital will provide additional opportunities for the people to access medical care in the state reaffirming his administration’s commitment to put in place appropriate policies towards providing efficient and effective healthcare for the people.

today, played host to the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami who came to commiserate with the state's chief executive over the recent political skirmishes in Gombe which led to loss of lives and destruction of property.

Describing the incident of Friday, 5th November, 2021 as most unfortunate, the Minister offered special prayers for Allah ( SWT) to continue to guide the Governor and give him more wisdom as he leads the state to prosperity in a peaceful atmosphere.

He said with the challenges facing the country, leaders need prayers and support to navigate through the path, commending Governor Inuwa Yahaya's developmental strides and commitment in the State.

Prof. Pantami also condoled with the Governor and through him, the people of the state over the death of some prominent personalities in Gombe State, including elder statesman, Alhaji Sani Labaran, former provost of College of Legal and Islamic Studies Nafada, Dr. Abdullahi Ahmad Ash-Sha'ali, Business man, Alhaji Garba Isiya Gaya among others.

Responding, Governor Yahaya appreciated the minister for the visit and for all that he has been doing for the development of Gombe State and Nigeria at large.

Infrastructure, education top Lagos’ priorities
Lagos State has earmarked huge capital expenditure in the 2022 fiscal year to service key growth areas in order to consolidate the recovery of the State’s economy and positively transform residents’ livelihoods.

In the proposed N1.388 trillion budget for year 2022 presented to the House of Assembly on Wednesday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the State would be spending N325 billion to deliver vital infrastructure projects in key sectors to energise and expand the growth of the State’s economy.

The key areas of growth identified by the Governor include Works and Infrastructure, Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Agriculture, Transportation, Energy and Mineral Resources, Tourism, Entertainment and Creative Industry, Commerce and Industry, Wealth Creation and Employment.

The human capital development drive of the Sanwo-Olu administration is projected to take a leap in 2022, with an allocation of 21.24 per cent combined in the total expenditure to education and health.

The financial proposal, christened “Budget of Consolidation”, will be the last full-year fiscal plan of the State before the next general election.

Sanwo-Olu said the coming year presented an opportunity for the State Government to consolidate on the progress recorded by his administration, while leveraging investment in-flow, partnership and business-friendly policies to maximally translate his achievements into noticeable positive impact in the lives of residents.

About N823.4 billion, representing 59 per cent of the 2022 budget, is earmarked for capital expenditure. Recurrent expenditure, representing 41 per cent, is N565 billion, which includes personnel cost, overhead and debt services.

The Governor noted that his administration had clearly articulated its vision in governance through the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda in the last two years, adding that the State was now looking towards the future with the activation of the implementation of a 30-year development plan (2021-2051) which replaced previous 13-year growth plan developed in 2012.

He said: “Year 2022 Budget is the next step on our journey to true and sustainable greatness in Lagos. The challenging environment requires that we focus our interventions on areas of greatest social impact and achieving the greatest good for the greatest number in the shortest possible time. Next year is an excellent opportunity for us to consolidate on what we have done so far, and ensure that every effort, investment inflow, partnership, business policy is translating maximally into noticeable positive impact in the lives of our people.

“It is in this light that we are presenting the Year 2022 Budget of Consolidation with a size of N1,388,285,459,990.51. This financial proposal is presented with a sense of duty and absolute commitment to the transformation of Lagos to a preferred global destination for residence, commerce, and investment. The budget projects to see a continuing but gradual recovery to growth in economic activity as the global economy cautiously recovers from the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.”

Of the total proposed expenditure, N1.135 trillion would accrue from Internally Generated Revenues (IGRs) and federal transfers, while deficit financing of N253 billion would be sourced from external and domestic loans, and bonds projected to be within the State’s fiscal sustainability parameters.

The State would be earmarking an aggregate of N137.64 billion, representing 9.92 per cent of the 2022 budget, for the funding of green investment in Environment, Social Protection, Housing and Community Amenities.

On Security, the Governor explained that the State’s continued investment in the sector had reaped positive dividends, stressing that more allocation would be channeled to security in 2022 to make Lagos safer for living, working and investment.

Despite global economic downturn, Sanwo-Olu said Lagos had seen more construction machinery deployed to deliver new infrastructure in the areas of roads, rail, housing, health, education and waterways.

He said: “There has been significant progress on the Lagos Rail Mass Transit projects, which include both the 27-kilometre Blue line, that will run from Okokomaiko to Marina, and the 32-kilometre Red line that will run from Agbado to Oyigbo and eventually to Marina.

“These rails, when completed, will deliver a combined 32.5 million people every month on their respective routes, reducing travel time by over 250 per cent, increasing the productivity and quality of life of our people.

“The Red line will come with eight new modern train stations, 10 new overpasses and 13 pedestrian bridges. These ambitious projects are expected to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2022.”

The outgoing year’s budget, Sanwo-Olu said, performed “remarkably well” despite the challenges encountered by the State, noting that the expenditure performance at the third quarter of 2021 rose to 80 per cent.

The Governor said the need to stabilise the State’s economy led to the adoption of far-reaching cost saving measures, including restructuring of local borrowings to reduce overall debt service obligations on Lagos.

“The State Government has successfully restructured all existing loan facilities, translating into a reduction in interest rates from an average of 18 per cent to about 12.75 per cent. This year, Fitch, a reputable international rating agency, upgraded the rating of Lagos from AA+ to AAA, reflecting Lagos’ capacity to service its financial obligations, compared with national and international peers, as well as its resilient operating performance during the pandemic,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The Governor thanked Lagosians for supporting and standing by his administration in the past two years. He said there were more challenges lying ahead, urging the residents to join hands with him in delivering his programmes for common good. He assured that pace of governance would be amplified in the coming years.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, praised the Governor for the “outstanding performance” of the 2021 budget, especially in infrastructural renewal and wealth creation among other things, promising speedy and meticulous vetting of the 2022 expenditure proposal.

Obasa said the progress under the Sanwo-Olu administration was commendable, but urged the executive arm to look inward and devise another methods of improving the State’s IGR beyond the current sources.

He said: “While the projections of this administration are being guided by its THEMES agenda, we need to further strengthen it to touch the lives of the people. It is a known fact that Lagos has the highest foreign debt profile. This loan has been the secret behind most of the infrastructural developments we all see all over the State. Nevertheless, I will advise the executive to focus more on intense projects that will be geared towards alleviating poverty in our State.”

The Speaker pledged more legislative support for the executive to achieve all the outlined objectives in the 2022 fiscal year.

"UN Now Regards Gombe State As Trusted, Worthy Partner", Says Kallon

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya played host to the outgoing United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mr. Edward Kallon who paid him a farewell visit at the Gombe State Governor's lodge in Abuja.

Mr. Kallon is leaving the country after the expiration of his six year tenure as the head of the UN systems in Nigeria.

Governor Yahaya paid glowing tribute to the UN chief, saying "Much as I regret your exit from Nigeria, I am consoled that it is in continuation of your service to humanity, your successes and achievements during your tenure in the areas of UN operations and humanitarian assistance are too numerous to mention. Gombe State and Nigeria have indeed benefited a lot from your hardwork, dedication and selfless service".

The Governor expressed gratitude to Mr. Kallon for his support and cooperation in the quest to put Gombe State on the pedestal of sustainable development.

"In the last two years of my administration, there have been several areas of collaboration with the UN system in SDGs and human capital development. Our partnership and cooperation have brought so much advancement to our dear State. Of particular importance is your support in the preparation and launch of our 10- year development plan, known as development agenda for Gombe State, DEVAGOM which is our roadmap to actualizing the SDGs and a prosperous future for our people".

The Governor noted that the Nigerian UN Project has progressed from Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) to the present United Nations Sustainable Development Partnership Framework (UNSDPF) for the purpose of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Nigeria by 2030 under the leadership of Mr. Kallon.

He wished him success in in his future endeavor.

Earlier, the outgoing UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mr. Edward Kallon said upon assumption into office he set out a vision to see, engage and serve Nigeria in her full glory, going beyond the traditional engagement with Government, the diplomatic and business communities but also to engage and interact with the people, their diverse cultures and traditions across the length and breadth of the country.

He particularly commended the disposition of Governor Inuwa Yahaya and his commitment to the development of his young State, describing him as an examplary leader.

"Your Excellency, my engagements with you, your government and the people during my visit to your State have not only yielded positive results but have been examplary. Jointly we have expanded and explored new areas of cooperation collaboration and partnership between the UN and Gombe State. Most Agencies, funds and programmes of the United Nations systems in Nigeria today regard Gombe State as a trusted and worthy partner, enhancing our common derive to collaborate in the realization of the development, aspirations of the people of your state and the country at large".

"In the last five years as I applied myself to realising this vision for the UN, I have enjoyed tremendous support and goodwill from the people and Government at the Federal and sub-national levels. For this,I remain forever grateful as this would not have been possible without you by my side".

During the farewell meeting, the two leaders also explored other areas of strengthening collaboration between Gombe State and the United Nations for the overall benefit and betterment of the citizenry.

Governor Yahaya used the occasion to present to the UN chief, his administration's midterm scorecard, which is a document that chronicles and showcases the milestone of achievements recorded as a result of his purposeful, focused, visionary and pragmatic leadership.

The meeting was attended by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget, Planning and Development Partners Coordination, Dr. Ishiyaku Mohammed, Director-General, Federal Government/ Intergovernmental Bureau, Mr. Nuhu Laumara Sada, Technical Assistant to the Governor, Aliyu Abubakar Garba among others.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya received in audience, the Special Adviser to the President on on Social Investment, Hajiya Maryam Uwais who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

The Presidential aide, was accompanied by the Gombe State First Lady, Hajiya Asma'u Inuwa Yahaya and other officials of the ARC-P office.

Hajiya Maryam Uwais, who is in Gombe for the graduation of the first batch of At Risk Children Programme, ARC-P Youth Facilitators holding tomorrow, Saturday, 13th November, 2021, told Governor Yahaya that Gombe has now become a role model for other states in the implementation of the newly introduced youths and women empowerment scheme.

She disclosed that Gombe is the first to key into the programme and first to witness the graduation of facilitators on training format.

Under the ARC-P programme, youths will be trained in ICT,Agriculture,entrepreneurial and financial literacy,digital and mental skills,child rights and mentorship,ARC-P national goals as well as monitoring,evaluation and reporting.

Recall that Gombe State has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU with the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Social Investment on the implementation of At-Risk Children Project’.

No fewer than 500 volunteers were trained under the At Risk Children Project in Gombe.

The graduation ceremony will take place at the Hajiya Amina Mohammed Skills Accusation Center, Bypass Gombe by 10 o'clock in the morning.

Gombe Governor Presents N154bn 2022 Appropriation Bill To Assembly

The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, has presented the sum of N154,610,614,000.00 billion appropriation for the 2022 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.

Speaking on the appropriation bill tagged “Budget of Consolidation”. The Governor said, ” this is because we intend to consolidate on gains made over the past 2 and half years in the service of our people”.

Addressing the Legislature on Thursday afternoon, Governor Inuwa said the proposal is made up of Sixty-Nine Billion, One Hundred and Seventeen Million, Two Hundred and Fourteen Thousand Naira (N69,117,214,000.00) as recurrent expenditure. This represents 44.7% of the total budget.

Also, Eighty-Five Billion, Four Hundred and Ninety-Three Million, Four Hundred Thousand Naira (N85,493,400,000.00) stands for capital expenditure which represents 55.3% of the budget sum.

The Governor said, “this is envisaged to be financed by an estimated recurrent revenue of Seventy-Three Billion, Six Hundred and Twenty-Six Million, Seven Hundred and Eighty-Nine Thousand Naira (N73,626,789,000.00)”.

According to him, capital receipts of Seventy-Nine Billion, Eight Hundred and Sixty-Five Million Naira (N79,865,000,000.00) is expected while an estimated closing balance of Four Billion, Eight Hundred and Eighty-One Million, One Hundred and Seventy-Five Thousand Naira (N4,881,175,000.00).

On the sectoral allocation, the economic Sector sector got N57,913,100,000.00, Social Sector N20,599,200,000.00, General Administration N4,374,000,000.00 while Law and Justice N2,607,100,000.00.

Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, Mohammad Abubakar Luggerewo, assured the Governor that having fulfilled a vital constitutional requirement of scrutinising his submission for subsequent passage into law based on section 121 of the constitution, the House will give it expeditious legislative scrutiny and passage to enable him to continue to implement all his laudable development policies and programmes

Preparatory to the presentation of the 2022 appropriation Bill to the state House of Assembly, the Gombe state Government has held a stakeholders' meeting with traditional rulers, community leaders, trade unions, faith-based and non- governmental organisations to harness their inputs in order to ensure an all-inclusive budgeting process.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya while declaring open, the public engagement, said that since his administration came on board, he made it a policy that the views of the citizens will continue to remain fundamental in policy formation and implementation because of the firm belief that the present administration in the State belongs to the people.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya observed that since budget is a projection of financial resources and how such can be applied for the benefit of the people, his administration together with the legislature, the judiciary and the people of the State have over the years maintained a clear understanding on how to work in synergy towards making the State work for everyone.

"The 2022 townhall meeting on budget is the 3rd by this administration and we are determined to maintain the tradition we have entrenched in getting the input of all stakeholders in order to ensure ownership and this also goes to demonstrate our commitment to transparency, accountability and good governance .

"You all know as mentioned by the chairman of Appropriations committee, we were ranked number one in terms of creating enabling environment for business to thrive and in transparency and accountability we ranked 7th now instead of where we were by 2019 when we came in".

He challenged the stakeholders meeting to discuss on what is most beneficial to the people of the State as his administration will not hesitate to implement the resolutions reached at the engagement meeting.

"As at the end of October when we took indices in terms of knowing the performance of our 2021 budget, we clocked 68 percent by the end of the year, I know we shall reach more than 70 percent, 70 percent in any examination is an A, so we are an A team".

Governor Inuwa Yahaya however stressed that the Gombe State Government under his leadership is committed towards bequeathing a State that its citizens will be proud of through an all inclusive budget preparation and implementation.

"You will all recall that I had promised upon assumption of office that my administration is committed to ensuring that our people enjoy the dividends of democracy via our focus on the delivery of social service.

"Our priorities are Health, Education, Water supply, Infrastructure and Rural Development. We have consistently maintained this focus and your input during past consultations has guided our march towards making Gombe Great again".

He said the ten year development plan conceived and being implemented by his administration is the first since the creation of Gombe State and it encapsulates all the 13 human development indices of the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs.

"Without planning you cannot allocate resources, you may misallocate or even misappropriate but with proper planning and control you know where you are heading to and what you want to achieve".

The Governor encouraged communities across the State and Stakeholders at the budget engagement meeting who are yet to go through the State ten year development plan to do so in order to appreciate the unwavering commitment of the government towards a systematic development approach.

The Governor used the stakeholders' meeting to fault the rationale behind spending a whooping 5 billion naira by the immediate past administration to build a Conference Centre, with no bearing on the lives of the people, especially when there are alternative halls for citizens to converge and discuss issues of State and national importance.

"I still can't understand, at a time when the Northeast zone was facing security challenges, you were building a conference centre that nobody will occupy
when the whole of the North East geopolitical zone was facing security challenges and its associated consequences.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya said even upon the completion of the conference facility, the contract for the supply of furnitures that would have facilitated the ease of utilizing it was yet to be done, disclosing that the State may need to expend over five hundred million naira to procure such items benefiting the status of the edifice.

According to him, if his administration does not borrow to complete such abandoned projects, they will come to waste and the people will not derive any benefits from them.

He said his administration was strategising on gathering what was wasted and maximise it for the benefit of the people.

The Speaker, Gombe State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo thanked Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for initiating the stakeholders' meeting on budget preparation.

He said the stakeholders' engagement on the preparation of the 2022 budget estimates will go a long way in aggregating the views of representatives of the citizens for an all-inclusive implementation of policies and programmes.

In his goodwill message, Chairman House Committee on Appropriations,.Hon Ali Baba Manu said the governor's approach towards developmental projects at the grassroots eases their legislative tasks in their respective constituencies.

He pledged absolute support of his committee in ensuring that the document captures what is required.

The Gombe State Commissioner of finance and economic development, Muhammad Gambo Magaji assured citizens of the State that just like the 2021 budget proposal, the present administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya will equally give heed to submissions contained in the 2022 budget.

In his address of welcome, the Special Adviser on Budget Planning and Development Partners Coordination, Dr. Ishiyaku Mohammed had earlier in an address of welcome said the stakeholders' meeting on budget preparation was a clear demonstration of the Governor's disposition to transparency and accountability in governance.

He said consistent physical presence of Governor Inuwa Yahaya in the Townhall Meeting for the preparation of the State presupposes that the Governor is a champion of good governance, transparency and accountability.

Gombe Governor Extols Sultan’s Virtues On 15th Anniversary

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has extoled the virtues of the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, on his 15th anniversary on the throne, saying his reign as the spiritual leader of muslims in Nigeria has
brought about unprecedented peace among the people of all faiths in the country.

In a goodwill message to the royal father, the governor recalled what he described as the significant roles played by the Sultan in ensuring that the interest of Nigerians is taken care of and that the spirit of cooperation, communal living and peaceful co-existence is preserved.

He said, “On behalf of the government and good people of Gombe State, I congratulate and felicitate with our revered religious and traditional leader, His Eminence, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs
(NSCIA), on the occasion of his 15th anniversary since ascension to throne as the 20th Sultan of Sokoto.

“His reign as the spiritual leader of all Muslims in Nigeria has brought about unprecedented peace not only among the Muslim Ummah, but across Nigeria.

“As the custodian of culture and traditions, he has played significant role in ensuring that the interest of his subjects is taken care of and that the spirit of cooperation, communal living and peaceful co-existence is preserved.

• The people’s governor who is very interested in the welfare and wellbeing of women and being a very gender positive man, has successfully empowered over 600 women with ingenious business idea to the tune of N4billion through the Lagos State Employment Fund [LSETF] W-Initiative in collaboration with Access Bank Plc.

• He has also supported not less than 3,673 various types of businesses with N1.156 Billion.

• Through the MSME Recovery Fund, Governor Sanwo-Olu has successfully supported 1, 835 businesses with N939.97million and saved a total of 10,005 direct jobs 40,020 indirect jobs.

• Following his love for education and to ensure every child is given access to quality education in Lagos, the governor initiated the N 5billion EduFund in partnership with First Bank and EdFin MFB.

• In other to encourage and empower the practitioners, the ever brilliant governot set up a N1billion Fund targeted at businesses in the tourism, hospitality, entertainment, arts and culture sectors – to be accessed as both loans and grants.

• In the area of agricultural empowerment, Governor Sanwo-Olu has also pumped no less than N1billion Agric Value Chain Fund targeted at businesses that operate within the Agric value chain.

• To ensure the youths of Lagos state are digitally at par with their counterparts in within Africa and in Europe, Governor Sanwo-Olu has successfully ensured the training of about 5,908 youths and placed 706 in jobs in partnership with, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and United States African Development Fund (USADF), Microsoft, Coursera.

The ever progressive Governor continues to show his capability in steering the affairs of Lagos state and prove doubters and opposition wrong.

Several other economic empowerment strides of the governor are further expatiated below.

• The governor has also supported 152 businesses and persons in the tech eco-system under the Lagos Innovate Programme.

• Trained 78 persons and placed 12 under the Talent Development Programme (TDP) -a student loan programme aimed at training young persons in tech skills and placing them in employment.

• Rescued 48,000 households from poverty through various social intervention programmes.

• Trained 1,050 rural women in agricultural related enterprises such as cultivation of vegetables, cassava planting and cultivation and garri processing among others.

• Supported 2,704 Lagos residents whose means of livelihood had been disrupted by COVID-19.

• Assisted 500 women with various cash grants Rural Women Grants from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.

• Produced over 6,000 graduates yearly from the State’s 20m Skill Acquisition Centres.

• In 2019, Mr. Governor supported 18 outstanding students from the Skill Acquisition Centres with cash grants.

• Produced 500,000 face masks via the Skill Acquisition Centres for public use.

• Launched Mother, Infant, and Child (MICH) program.


• Empowered over 1000 residents at the third Phase of the Mega Empowerment programme.

• Empowered 1,050 vulnerable women and indigent residents in the State with various working tools.

• Organized a Mentorship seminar for over 1,000 Youths in the State on the theme: “AGRICPRENEUR: Strategy for Wealth Creation”.

• Empowered 200 household heads for orphans and vulnerable children in the State with various skills and tools.

• Empowered 200 household heads from the 55 registered groups of people living with HIV/AIDS.

• Trained 51,514 graduates for the Graduate Internship programme designed to expose Interns to hands-on work experience.

• Distributed 12,000 COVID-19 relief packages to Tradesmen and Artisans in the State to cushion the impact of COVID-19.

• Trained 2,000 Tradesmen and Artisans (1,500 Artisans and 500 Tradesmen).

• 21, 262 residents benefitted from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd tranches of the conditional Cash Transfer Payment Exercise.

• Rescued 3041 Beggars/Destitute/Mentally Challenged people and Street Children off the Streets of Lagos.

• 178 street children re-integrated back to the society after undergoing various interventions.

Gombe Governor Hosts UNICEF Country Rep, Restates Commitment To Sustain Partnership With UN Agency, Chinese Government Towards Achieving Universal Health Coverage

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has restated the commitment of Gombe state Government towards sustaining its partnering with United Nations Children's Education Fund, UNICEF in all areas of interest towards achieving universal health coverage.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya who made this known during a bilateral meeting with the Country representative of UNICEF, Mr. Peter Hawkins at the Government House, said his administratiin is equally desirous of establishing a strong bilateral relationship with the Chinese Government to boost other areas like agriculture, mining and renewable energy among others.

He expressed appreciation to UNICEF and Chinese governnent for the partnership and support that helped in the upgrade of 10 Primary Healthcare Centres in Kwami LGAs of the State.

The governor said the support offered by the intervention complimented his administration's vision of having one functional PHC in each of the 114 wards of the State.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya noted that so far his administration has done well in the health sector but that given the size of the state, there is the need to expand the programme to other Local Government areas, saying if extended, it will enable the State government to achieve universal health coverage.

"During my visit to the UN in 2019, I had solicited for partnership and support of the UNICEF in some key areas, including human resources for health, severe acute malnutrition through the scaling up of interventions and building local capacity to produce RUTF".

He explained that Gombe is currently producing complimentary food through partnership with IAR.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya observed that being at the Center of the North East, the State has continued to play host to a large number of displaced persons with a consequential effect on social service delivery.

Earlier speaking, the UNICEF country representative, Peter Hawkins described the partnership between Gombe State Government and UNICEF as critical to the enthronment of a sustainable development in the State.

"From what I saw in terms of partnership between the government and people at the grassroots, you have created an environment where a compact of trust has really started delivering quality services which is the important thing because people will continue to return to health facilities to access services".

He said the renovation of health facilities by the Gombe State Government in collaboration with UNICEF and the Republic of China re-emphasizes the desirability sustainable partnership going forward.

Mr. Hawkins commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his resilience and determination in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people, appealing for the sustaining of the tripartite partnership to build on the gains so far recorded.

The visiting UNICEF chief congratulated Governor Inuwa Yahaya for coming up with a ten year development plan, describing it as a model for States across the country and a nobility in a region that is in dire need of investment and deliverables for the people.

...Describes Gombe As Model in Basic Education In Nigeria

The House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education has applauded the unprecedented achievements recorded in basic education sector in Gombe State, attributing the feat to the clear vision and mission of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya as well as his commitment to service of his people.

The Chairman of the committee Professor Julius Ihonvbere gave the commendation when he led his collegues on a courtesy visit to the Governor.

The members who were in Gombe on an oversight function to assess the UBEC/ SUBEB intervention projects, lauded Governor Yahaya for putting into judicious use, the resources allotted for basic education.

"Our responsibility is to conduct an oversight and see how the matching grant and other resources from the federal government are deployed", he said.

Applauding the state government's commitment in developing education from the grassroot, Prof. Ihonvbere said among all the states the committee had visited, Gombe state stands out as a role model.

"We have been to so many states where we have seen schools without perimeter fencing, no play ground, no water, no toilet, classrooms are dilapidated, no furniture, and even children sitting on the ground in 2021. Your Excellency Sir, Gombe has shown that all these issues I have mentioned can be addressed, we commend your efforts in setting the pace and urge other state to borrow a leaf from Gombe", he said.

The committee lauded Governor Yahaya's move to tackle the challenges bothering basic education in the state, singling out the establishment of teachers’ resource center at Kwami as a great achievement that will help in building the capacity of teachers.

"No matter how good a pupil is, with a bad teacher they are going nowhere. "And your recognition of the need to empower teachers intellectually demonstrates clearly that you know where the problems are and you are ready to tackle them" he added.

The National Assembly nember also praised the Governor over the establishment of Alabura Model Primary School in Kumbiya-Kumbiya Quarters which is under construction, describing it as a landmark project, adding that "locating that kind of facility and edifice in that particular area shows that you understand very clearly how to use institutions to promote growth and development".

The chairman expressed his satisfaction with the calibre of people Governor Yahaya has assembled to work with him, describing them as "competent hands" and urged the governor to continue with his good policies and programmes.

The federal lawmaker commended the hospitality accorded to them in Gombe State and also applauded the good road networks, the 3G project among others, describing them as enviable projects that make Gombe stands tall among its peers.

"We were impressed by what we saw in Gombe State in terms of infrastructures, human resources and other developmental projects".

Responding, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya described the visit of the committee as apt and timely,expressing optimism that such engagements will bring good tidings to Gombe State.

He told the lawmakers that despite the effort his government is making towards building educational facilities and boosting capacity of teachers, the state's social infrastructures provided by his administration are stressed by the influx of internally displaced persons from the neighbouring states that are facing security challenges.

The governor noted that despite these challenges, his administration is not relenting in discharging its responsibilities. “That does not deter us from remaining steady and steadfast in trying to meet our own obligations” he said.

Going down memory lane, Governor Inuwa Yahaya recalled that before becoming Governor, he had identified the problems bedeviling basic education in the state and after assuming office he immediately swang into action.

“On 29th September, 2019 we declared a 'state of emergency' on education and that helped us to use whatever means possible, through whatever way to see that the bad narrative has changed”.

The Governor assured of his admininistration's continued commitment towards putting education on the right track, pledging to continue to do more in order to augment the developments recorded so far.

“Gombe is really up and doing and our leadership means business. We thank you for the encomiums and we want to assure you that we shall do more.

“We shall do more than what you saw so that we catch up with the rest of the country and the world”, he added.

He enjoined the committee to support the Federal Government in giving basic education the priority it deserves. “I would like to urge the committee to look deeper into how the Federal Government can leverage on the available resources to support basic education”.

The governor called for a symbiotic relationship between the Federal and State governments, noting that the success of any good policy of the Federal Government depends on the good and cordial relationship between the two arms.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya says his administration will continue to work in partnership with the Federal Government to deliver to the citizens of the State the benefits inherent in the Social Investment Programmes, NSIP towards mitigating the effects of poverty and other socio-economic challenges.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya stated this when he received the national coordinator of National Social Investment Programme, Dr. Umar Bindir in his office.

The Governor maintained that "synergy is all that is needed between the Federal and State governments in order to fast track the smooth implementation of any programme aimed at impacting on the lives of the people".

He remarked that being an APC State, Gombe will continue to work in partnership with Federal Government and key into various programmes of the NSIP to deliver to the citizens of the State the benefits therein.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya tasked the team from the National Social Investment Programme to redouble its efforts towards ensuring that the programme achieves the results upon which it was created.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya said with the economic downturn and the consequential effects of covid 19, insurgency and other socio-economic challenges, there is no way the ordinary man can get out of the grip of poverty without initiatives such as the National Social Investment Programmes.

Earlier, the Coordinator of National Social Investment Programmes, Dr. Umar Buba Bindir said since 2016, the programme has been reaching out to the poor and vulnerable Nigerians.

He explained that the NSIP has four flagships to which Gombe State, through the resilience of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, is neck deep into, including N.power, the National Homegrown School Feeding Programme, the Conditional Cash Transfer and the Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme GEEP.

These four flagships of the National Social Investment Programme, as explained by Dr. Bindir, are aimed at institutionalising growth and development of the Nigerian economy for which its citizens will be the ultimate beneficiaries.

In its role as a religious body, Nigeria Prays, North Central zone is to hold a Day National Prayer Rally in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

The theme for this year’s prayer is “Behold, I Make All Things New.”

In a statement issued in Ilorin, by the Kwara State Coordinator, Nigeria Prays, Revd. G.J Olaoye, the prayer rally is a time for personal and corporate prayer involvement.

BESDA: Gombe Government To Transform Tsangaya School System To Meet Needs Of 21st Century

...As Governor Inuwa Lays Foundation For Construction of Modern Almajiri Integrated Quranic Education Centre In Gombe

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has called on the proprietors of Tsangaya schools to embrace Government policies and programmes aimed at developing the skills and capacity of the Almajiris so that they can contribute meaningfully towards societal development.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya stated this at a stakeholders meeting convened by the Better Education Service Delivery For All (BESDA) for Islamic scholars and community leaders in the State.

The Governor said the objective of the meeting was to equip and improve the capacity of Islamic Teachers to meet the teaching needs of the 21st century.

"We are here today to discuss better ways of improving the Tsangaya education system in our dear state. Many Muslim countries like Morocco, Sudan, Indonesia have done very well in upgrading the Tsangaya system and making it fit into the requirements of our time".

He equally noted that "Tsangaya Education programme is one of the initiatives of the Federal Government to address the problems of out-of-school children with the objectives of providing access and equity to basic education for all school age children".

Governor Inuwa Yahaya explained that available data has revealed that the number of out of school children in Gombe State is alarming as well as the nature of the education system in the State.

He said that his administration upon assuming office in 2019 immediately declared a state of emergency in the education sector and keyed into the World Bank-supported BESDA programme in order to bridge the gap.

"BESDA has so far succeeded in mopping up over 150,000 almajiris in Gombe State through the establishment of about 676 non-formal learning centres across the State over the last two years. Similarly, we have so far constructed over 200 new classrooms and renovated over 400 others across several basic and post-basic schools.

"We have also just witnessed the laying foundation ceremony for a mega Tsangaya school at Goni Sani Tsangaya. Insha’Allah we shall construct additional of such mega schools in each of our local government areas over the next two years".

He said the establishment of non-formal learning centres through BESDA in Tsangaya schools is aimed at introducing modern education into the Tsangaya curriculum so that children in such Schools can benefit from both educational systems.

"I therefore wish to call on the Tsangaya School proprietors to continue to embrace Government policies and programmes aimed at developing the skills and capacity of their Almajiris so that they can contribute meaningfully towards societal
development".

The Governor commended Islamic Teachers for their contributions toward the propagation of Islam by establishing educational Institutions and other outreach activities.

"This has helped humanity tremendously. I therefore urge all the various stakeholders, traditional rulers as well as other public-spirited individuals in our society to support them in this noble course".
Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed the hope that at the end of the meeting, participants will be more knowledgeable in advancing Tsangaya schools to greater heights.

The National Coordinator of the Better Education Service Delivery for All, BESDA Gidado Tahir represented by the State Base consultant Dr. Sani Abdullahi described Gombe State as a shining example in the implementation of BESDA programme in the country.

"Since this programme will not last for a life time, I think it behoves on states implementating same to emulate the ingenuity of Gombe State in the BESDA programme".

The Director, Better Education Service Delivery for All BESDA in the Federal Ministry of Education, Amina Buba Haruna said the Ministry is enthused by near perfect implementation of the programme in Gombe State.

She therefore lauded Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for appointing men of goodwill and sound character to manage the affairs of the Service.

She noted that all hands must be on deck to integrate the Almajiri Education into the western system so that the children can holistically function well in a contemporary society.

Earlier, the Gombe State Coordinator of BESDA, Dr. Abdullahi Bappah Ahmed noted that the successes so far achieved by the sevice could not have been possible without the sound support of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

He described the stakeholders' engagement meeting as necessary to consolidate on the gains so far recorded.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya was earlier at the Goni Sani Tsangaya in Bolari East where he laid the foundation stone for the construction of an ultra modern Almajiri integrated Quranic education centre.

When completed the one storey building will bear classrooms, hostels, offices and skills acquisition centre for the convenience of the pupils and their teachers.

In what appears to be 'not letting go' the memories that heralded Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya's 60th birthday anniversary, the Forum of Gombe State Commissioners earlier today delivered a suprise birthday package to him before the commencement of the State Executive Council meeting.

Items contained in the birthday's package included a customised calligraphic birthday card, Cake, magic mugs and other utensils as well as roll up banner, T- shirt among others.

The governor equally received awards he bagged from some organisations, including Arewa Media as the best performing and most outstanding Governor and another to the Gombe State Government as the most innovative Government in the country.

In the same vein, an award by the Guild of Medical Directors of Nigeria to the Governor as Hero of year as well as an honorary award by the Mining Engineers were also presented to the Governor by his Deputy Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau.

Earlier while presenting the suprise birthday package to the governor, the chairman of Forum of Commissioners in the State, who is also the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General, Barrister Zubair Muhammad Umar, described the attainment of age of 60 as landmark and a special gift from Almighty Allah.

"Sir as you are aware, at the time you celebrated your birthday, Exco had not sat and after that we thought we should honour you and celebrate with you this 60 years on earth; as I said it is a blessing from Allah and it is one of the signs that as we are united as honourable Commissioners we shall go with you with one voice and it is this kind of unity that has now given birth to this celebration".

He read the message thus:

"We join other well wishers to celebrate our amiable leader and phenomenal boss on this auspicious occasion of his 60th Birthday.

Your Excellency, Your sterling leadership and managerial acumen continue to define our growth and signpost our success in Gombe State.

You inspire and motivate us in so many ways with your refreshing ideas and wealth of wisdom.

You are indeed an amazing example of a good leader.

It is our prayer that Almighty Allah will continue to bless you with many more years filled with peace, joy and happiness".

Responding, Governor Yahaya said even though he was not a birthday freak, the outpouring of love and solidarity as depicted by the suprise birthday package had made him feel great.

"Coming from the people that are living daily with me and are contributing to the success that we seem to be achieving over this time that we are together, I think it is worth appreciating".

Governor Yahaya thanked the Almighty Allah for sparing his life to live this long and for keeping him strong and focused as he tries to deliver on his vision.

The governor equally thanked the Forum of Commissioners and the Government House Press crew for celebrating with him on his 60th birthday anniversary.

GOVERNOR ABDULRAHMAN ABDULRASAQ SHOULD DESIST FROM THEATRICAL DISPLAY OF INGRATITUDE

Gentlemen of the press,
It is delightful to address you this afternoon to discuss some issues arising from the catechism credited to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq as press interview on state matters.
In it, the taciturn and reticent Governor opened up a pandora box of pettiness, selfishness, vindictiveness and small mindedness while regurgitating his pent up angers on 2019 campaign funds and the periscope of his trajectory of political emotional instability since 1998.

According to a Chinese proverb, "The wise man forgets insults but the ungrateful forgets benefits". It is not surprising to those who are familiar with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq's background, that he has continued to bite the fingers that fed him.

He threw caution and decorum expected of a man in his position to the winds by calling the Hon. Minister of Information and Culture, Alh. Lai Mohammed unprintable names.

Nothing can be truer than the notion that in every class of society, gratitude is the rarest of all human virtues. However, it is least expected that a man supposedly brought up in Islamic philosophy could be so unmindful of the Islamic ethical values of gratitude and moral rectitude in human relationship.

Gentlemen of the press, ladies and gentlemen. I crave your indulgence to deflate one-by-one, the balloon of lies flown by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq.

1]. 2019 Election Campaign Funds

Without any fear of contradictions and with available records at our disposal, the credits of our resounding victory at the 2019 general elections should go to the Hon. Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed and other stakeholders. The Hon. Minister sourced and disbursed funds for election campaign and logistics. Alhaji Lai did, as a party leader all that was expected and required for a party to win elections. Ironically the then gubernatorial candidate,Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq who was being assisted contributed nothing to the campaign funds which himself had earlier acknowledged. It is also important to mention that the party received no kobo as campaign fund from anybody other Alhaji Lai that we relied on, contrary to the Governor's blackmail. All other stakeholders assisted the candidates in their own way and not through the party.

Therefore, why the governor has continued grunting and groaning over the dead issue left much to be desired since he was yet to account for #1bn campaign grants he collected from the APC National headquarters.
Gentlemen of the press, the question is ' who should now be robed with the garment of dishonesty?'

2]. Deviation From the Party

From the horse's mouth, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq had shot himself in the head about his loyalty and allegiance to APC manifestos when he shredded the document as
"useless" and declared it a mere waste basket material.

This settled the public worries about his lackluster and epileptic administrative style of emotional leadership.

We, by any stress of imagination, are not surprised by the governor's confessional statement on his abandonment of APC party manifesto. This was the same manner he left the party in the lurch in 2019 shortly after becoming the candidate.

After constituting two different committees on his governorship campaign elections - See The Nation, Monday, January 7, 2019, pp.38 & 39. He abandoned the party to financial harmattan, which forced the party to appeal to the Hon. Minister for a bailout that he took with sense of responsibility and diligence.

Therefore, rather than running his mouth against the Hon. Minister, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq holds a debt of gratitude to him, the party leadership and the entire party members for his electoral victory.

3]. Electoral Value

It is laughable that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq could infer that he had won his ticket and election on his personal and family political profile! This is a lie from the pit of hell.

We need to remind him of history:
a]. Of what political relevance was his father in kwara state? The father contested and lost governorship election in 1979.
b) Didn't his mother also contest and lose councillorhip election in Magaji Ngeri ward of Ilorin.
c).Did his elder brother Alimi not contest for governorship and lost?
d) Didn't his younger brother, Baba Razak contest and lose house of representatives election and lose here in Ilorin?

e). How many times has AA himself attempted to become a Senator or Governor, which turned him to a political harlot?

Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq's low self esteem and lack of intellectualism

Our source who claimed anonymity revealed to us after the video surface internet, " I asked the Osolo of Isolo, Oba Agbabiaka if truly he annointed Prince Nurudeen as the Oba elect of Oworosoki and Kabiyesii denied, saying what happened was not appointment nor selection, "He came to pay a visit with a large followers and I have to raise his hand up as my son and not as Oba elect" he said.

Oba Agbabiaka noted that only the government have the right to appoint any candidate as the Oba after the family are through with their selected names. He therefore urged everyone to wait patiently to hear from the government in three months time after the final burial of the late Oba Oloworo of Oworo land.

"We Are Determined To Harness Ecotourism Opportunities In Gombe State, Gov. Inuwa Yahaya Says As He Hosts US- Based Wildlife Conservationist

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa says his administration is determined to harness ecotourism opportunities available in the state towards boosting responsible travel to natural areas, conserving the environment, and improving the well-being of the local people.

The Governor stated this yesterday when he granted audience to Professor Lynne Baker, a United States-based wildlife conservationist and senior research associate at the Institute for Development, Ecology, Conservation and Cooperation, IDECC.

IDECC is an organisation working in disparate fields of environmental conservation and sustainable development in megadiverse regions of the world, with special emphasis on West African countries.

Professor Lynne Baker was in Gombe where she undertook a study of the underlining issues surrounding the colony of hipopotamus at Dadinkowa river bank.

The Governor commended rhe wildlife conservationist for taking special interest towards safeguarding the environment and promoting ecotourism. He assured of his administration's willingness to partner her institute towards unlocking the potentials in that sub-sector of the economy.

"What you have done is like opening our eyes to see the potentials that we have in ecotourism and wildlife conservation. So I will like to thank you most profoundly on behalf of the Government and good people of Gombe State and I also will give you the assurance that we shall provide the enabling environment on which you will carry out your work so that you can give us more ideas on how best we can approach the issue at stake and benefit from the opportunities therein".

The Governor expressed gratitude to Professor Lynne Baker for supporting the state government with Camera Drones, Life Jackets and other necessary tools for the successful implementation of the research work.

He also assured to continue to provide enabling environment for any person or group of persons willing to prop up development in the State.

"This is a symbiotic relationship that we must keep in the interest of our people, especially those living within the bank of the Dadinkowa river. Much as we protect the endangered species, we must also protect our people from the dreaded animals which are known for destroying farm crops and hindering fishing activities within the area. Hence the need for creating a colony for them cannot be overemphasised ".

The Governor equally intimated the visiting wildlife conservationist on the ongoing efforts by Transforming Irrigation Management in Nigeria, TRIMING to boost irrigation farming in the area and the implications the development will have on the water level.

"Recently between Borno and Gombe states we've allocated about 10,000 hectares of land that is being worked upon through the extension of irrigation canals so that will mean the reservoir will serve a lot of purpose downstream and this will see a reduction in the volume of water and may be the implication of that on the population of the hippos and how they generate will be something that needs to be taken into consideration".

He also hinted that activities are expected to spring up around the Dadinkowa river due to the award of contract for the construction of an industrial park which is leveraging on the 40 megawatts hydropower from the multipurpose dam.

The Governor maintained that his administration has keen interest in maintaining and sustaining the environment and wildlife for the benefit of the ecosystem and the generality of the people.

The US based wildlife researcher, Professor Lynne said she was in the State to undertake study on the population of hippopotamus within the Dadinkowa river axis, the challenges facing the endangered species and to create awareness.

"Hippopotamus is not common in Nigeria, it is considered a threatened specie in Africa and in the East and South of Africa they are more common but in the West of Africa they are not common, thereby making this location very unique and somewhat makes Gombe famous for this population of hippopotamus".

Professor Lynne described the Dadinkowa Dam as a site with huge potentials in wildlife and birds diversity, stressing that her research will be a launching pad for the development of ecotourism in particular and the Dadinkowa community in general.

She said she held a meeting with the local communities around the river bank in the cause of her study tour and also took photographs of the hippos and other species of birds.

Professor Lynne said she is also working with some international bodies to get a grant that will enable her work more closely with the state government with a view to establishing hippos colony so that the species would be confined within a particular area in Dadinkowa to protect the animals from extinction.

She stressed that the measure will also help boost socio-economic activities of the area, as there would be no challenge of hippos grazing or destroying crops or preventing fishing activities.

The Commissioner of Environment and Forest Resources, Dr. Hussaina Goje had earlier intimated Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya that in the last three weeks, the wildlife conservationist had toured the Dadinkowa dam site and criss-crossed 3 local government areas with a view to getting first hand information on the population of hippopotamus in the area.

" The objective of Professor Lynne's coming is to get us to have an estimate of the number of hippopotamus at the colonies, provide capacity for our wildlife staff and to create awareness to the local community as well as attract international attention ".

She revealed that her Ministry in conjunction with other sister agencies, as well as a non- government organisation, Jewel Environmental Initiative ( JEI) have provided logistical and non logistical support to the researcher and her home based team for a successful exercise.

As Muslims in Gombe state join other faithful all over the world to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Maulud on Tuesday, 19th October, 2021, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has sent his felicitations to the ummah, urging them to use the occasion to draw lessons and inspiration from the virtues of service, peaceful co-existence and exemplary leadership of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ( SAW).

Today, in a peaceful state Congress conducted by the Electoral Committee appointed by the National Caretaker Committee of All Progressives Congress and supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission, members of our party in Lagos elected state executive members at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has participated in the affirmation of result of the All Progressives Congress, APC State Congress in Gombe State conducted through consensus method in line with the party's guidelines, stakeholders' resolution and democratic process.

Speaking shortly after the exercise, held at the Pantami township stadium, Governor Inuwa Yahaya applauded the smooth conduct of the exercise, singling out the committee sent from the National Headquarters of the APC for special commendation.

"I want to thank Almighty God for giving us the opportunity to elect new leadership of our party at the State level, following the smooth conduct of the ward and Local Government congresses in the State. Today's State Congress which saw the election of 36 State Executives was conducted in accordance with the party guidelines and the expressed buy-in of stakeholders of the APC in the State".

To this end, Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed gratitude to APC stakeholders and supporters alike for their continuous solidarity and cooperation before and after the formation of Government in the State.

The Governor remarked that the State congress witnessed some change of guard, especially in the vacuum created by the death of some executive members and the fragility of some others due to old age.

He maintained that these decisions were meticulously considered by the party in order to avoid the possibility of any rancor that may arise within the ranks of the APC in Gombe State.

The Governor assured the people of Gombe State that with their continued support and solidarity, his administration will continue to deliver the dividends of democracy as encapsulated in his campaign manifesto.

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has charged the new Local Government Congress Executives of the All Progressives Congress, APC not to relent as they begin the onerous task of projecting and protecting the interest of the party, especially with political activities building up ahead of 2023.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya gave the charge while speaking during the inauguration of the elected Local Government Executives at the Gombe State APC secretariat.

The Governor praised the peaceful and transparent process that brought the new LG party officials on board, describing the unity of purpose that permeates through the Gombe State Chapter of the APC as rock solid.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya challenged the new party officials to see their election as a call to service to the party and the people who gave them the mandate.

"Prior to the Congresses, I did promise to bequeath a process where every member of our great party will be proud of and today we are pleased to announce that the outcome was nothing but a true reflection of the yearnings and aspirations of all and sundry".

The Governor expressed gratitude to the generality of the party faithful for their support and cooperation before and after the formation of the APC-led Government in Gombe State.

Gombe Governor Swears-in New High Court Judges, Khadis

Gombe Governor Assents Bills Granting Legislature, Judiciary Autonomy

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has sworn-in 3 new High Court Judges and Two Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal.

Those sworn-in as High Court Judges were Zainab Abdulkadir Rasheed, Abdulsalam Muhammad and
Daurabu Sikkam Suleiman while Adamu Kuna Jibril and
Ahmed Baba Bala took oaths as Khadis.

The Governor equally presented two laws which he signed, authorizing autonomy for the Legislature and the Judiciary in the State.

In his address at the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Inuwa Yahaya said the appointment of the High Court Judges and Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal followed their confirmation by the National Judicial Council (NJC).

Governor Inuwa Yahaya equally maintained that their appointments were further necessitated by the exiting of some Judges and Khadis in the State who attained the mandatory retirement age.

"The newly sworn-in Judges and Khadis are adjudged to be persons with experience, maturity, forthrightness, moral rectitude and deep knowledge of jurisprudence and are veritable jurists par excellence; I believe they are immeasurable assets not only to the judiciary but to the entire State and the country as a whole".

He said it is reassuring that such calibre of persons are being appointed into the top echelon of the State Judiciary at a crucial time when the nation requires a strong and upright judicial system that can address the challenges hindering the effective administration of Justice.

"Considering their sound education, dedication to duty as well as the vast experience they gathered over time, I am confident they will bring new insights that will help further strengthen the State Judiciary and consolidate our democratic system".

The Governor recalled that at the inception of his administration, at his instance, the State government received a comprehensive report on the judicial arm with information on the challenges militating against the administration of Justice in State.

The Governor explained that the action was borne out of his administration's desire to facilitate speedy dispensation of justice as well as the overall transformation of the Judicial arm of Government.

"It is against this background that our administration made the following interventions in the Judiciary; renovation and equipping of the High Court of Justice Central Library as well as the establishment of an e-library at the State Ministry of Justice".

"Other interventions, include the construction of the Sharia Court of Appeal complex that was abandoned by the previous administration, the facilitation of the establishment of the Gombe division of the Court of Appeal and the provision of ICT equipment to State counsels as well the payment of tuition fees to indigenes of Gombe at the Nigerian Law school".

"Let me use this opportunity to assure the entire members of the Judiciary and of course legislative arm of Government that we will continue to make available all necessary facilities that will enhance the effective discharge of their responsibilities".

He said his administration is committed to ensuring a strong and harmonious relationship with all arms of Government.

"So far we have provided an enabling environment for a healthy relationship with both the Judiciary and the Legislative arms, as the cordiality among all arms of Government will guarantee a strong and virile society as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In this regard, I have signed into law two bills on the autonomy of both the Legislature and the Judiciary as a measure of ensuring independence of the two arms".

Earlier in an opening remark, Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi said the event signifies the commitment of the present administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to the quick dispensation of Justice in the State.

Shortly after the ceremony, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya presented keys of official vehicles to the Acting Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Mu'azu Pindiga for onward distribution to the newly sworn- in Judges of the High Court and Khadis of the Sharia court of appeal.

The event held at the Banquet hall of Gombe government House, was graced by the Speaker and members of Gombe State House of Assembly, top judicial officers, government functionaries, traditional rulers and well wishers.

....Gives Nod For Upgrade Of Kuri Cottage Hospital, Payment of Land Compensation, Others

The Gombe State Executive Council meeting, presided over by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has approved the sum of seven hundred and fifteen million, seventy four thousand, one hundred and thirty five naira, (715, 074, 135) as fifty per cent counterpart fund for the 2021 Universal Basic Education, UBEC intervention projects in the State.

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mr Julius Ishaya Lepes, disclosed this to journalists shortly after the 18th SEC meeting.

Ishaya Lapes stressed that the approval of the counterpart funding for the 2021 UBEC/SUBEB intervention project was in fulfillment of the Governor's determination to further give impetus to the State of emergency already declared in the education sector his administration.

The Commissioner equally disclosed that SEC also approved the sum of one hundred and eighteen million, four hundred and thirty eight thousand, forty five naira (118, 438, 45) for the renovation and upgrade of the cottage hospital and Primary Health Centre in Kuri, a community in Yamaltu Deba local government area to give maximum healthcare services to the people.

"The renovation and the upgrade become necessary because of the level of dilapidation of the cottage hospital and the PHC; and some of you who are conversant with Kuri village know the community as densely populated commercial hub", Hon Lepez stressed.

The Information Commissioner said Council also deliberated on the payment of compensation made to victims of the Billiri crisis and confirmed that over 90 percent of the claims by the affected victims have been cleared.

"At the moment we are waiting for individuals who have not come forward to make their claims, so the committee is still hanging on until all of them are attended to" .

He emphasized the need for citizens to maintain the peace so that funds meant for providing services and developmental projects will not be expended in crises management.

Speaking on SEC's resolutions on land matters, the Commissioner of Lands and Survey, Usman Jafun Biri said Council approved the sum of one hundred and Seventy seven million, seventy two thousand, nine hundred and ninety nine naira (177, 072, 999) for the payment of compensation to individuals whose lands have been allocated to Federal University of Kashere, Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo and the Golf Coast in Tukulma Village of Akko Local Government Area.

Another report was received from a strong team involving two commissioners sent to investigate and assess the true situation of one Mariyo Primary School in Kalshingi ward of Akko LGA which was in the news where it was reported to be in bad condition despite the huge number of pupils attending.

The team, according to the information commissioner, discovered the school to be a community-owned facility, established in 2017, accommodating 250 pupils (as opposed to more than 500 pupils reported by some media outlets) with little intervention from the local government. The commissioner expressed the readiness of the government to assist the community in their quest to provide better education for their children.

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has performed the foundation laying ceremony for the construction of 500 mass housing units in Gombe metropolis.

The construction of the 500 housing units, to be built along Timothy Shelpidi way in Gombe, is an initiative of the North East Development Commission NEDC in conjunction with Gombe State Government to further bridge the housing deficit in the State.

Speaking at the event, Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for establishing the North East Development Commission whose mandate is to among others, rebuild the social, economic and infrastructural dimensions of the North East ravaged by the Boko Haram insurgency.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya observed that being at the centre of the North East and with the relative peace it enjoys, Gombe has been playing a comforting role to displaced persons that had to relocate to the State due to the consequential effects of insurgency.

"And the purpose of the setting up of the NEDC is to provide support and to ensure reintegration, rehabilitation and comfort to all those who have suffered as a result of the insurgency. In Gombe, though not in the frontline, we play host to a lot of displaced persons that come to live here; I think as at last count, about 75 thousand recorded families have relocated to Gombe and of these numbers, many have already integrated with our people".

The Governor observed that the accommodating nature of the State has equally put a strain on its health and educational facilities as well as other service-providing agencies of the State and therefore appealed to the NEDC to increase the level of its intervention to the State.

"Of recent, Gombe State Government, on its own, enrolled 25,000 displaced persons and those that have various forms of disabilities on the State Contributory Health Scheme known as GoHealth and of these numbers no one will be charged a single kobo, meaning they are going to get health services free of charge".

He assured the board and management of the NEDC that whatever it delivers to the State will be given to individuals in likes of IDPs and those with incapacitation who cannot fend for themselves.

The Governor said "Every food relief, health facility or intervention which you brought and all other support that you have been given especially the training of our youths will be utilized properly so that the prosperity of the people of the North East and those of Gombe State is really ensured and protected".

The Governor urged the Commission to prioritise its approach to the deradicalisation and rehabilitation of Boko Haram insurgents who have surrendered to the Nigerian authorities so that their reintegration to the society will be guaranteed in peace and harmony.

"Above all, this initiative of house development at this critical and crucial time is really worth commending; I will like to thank you most profoundly and it is for that reason that this parcel of land that has been lying fallow for so many years has been committed to this project because we have the belief that whatever you promise you will deliver".

The Chairman of the North East Development Commission, Major General Paul Tarfa said the mandate of the commission was to bring development to all the states that made up the North East sub-region, be it in education, road rehabilitation and food for the destitute among others.

He commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his giant strides in turning around the social,economic and infrastructural dimensions of the State, especially his noble Gombe Goes Green, 3G project which seeks to address ravages of climate change and global warming.

"Your Excellency you have done very well; anyone who comes to Gombe will see development even without going round, something has been done and something is being done. There are indeed signs of development everywhere".

The Managing Director of the North East Development Commission, Mohammed Goni Alkali said the 500 mass housing units will be constructed in phases, saying while two hundred and fifty houses will be constructed in Gombe metropolis, the remaining two hundred and fifty will be spread across major cities in the State.

The Managing Director explained that through the support of the Gombe State Government, NEDC was able to deliver tractors, planters, fertilizers and other farm inputs to the newly constructed farm service centres across the State.

He said the commission has equally delivered to Gombe State, assorted food and non-food items for onward distribution to displaced persons and individuals in need.

He said the graduation of the Batch B of ICT programme of the NEDC is an indication that it is committed to building the capacity of young North Easterners for self reliance.

The event, which started with the foundation laying ceremony of the construction of the 500 mass housing units, also witnessed the flag off of the distribution of food and non-food items, commissioning and handling over of fully rehabilitated farm centres, tractors and other implements and graduation ceremony of batch B graduands of the NEDC/ICT training.

World Habbit Day: LAWMA Boss Charges Lagos Residents To Patronise PSP Operators

The Managing Director/CEO of Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni, has called for total compliance with the environmental laws of the state, to protect the environment and its inhabitants, from the harmful effects of indiscriminate dumping of waste and other negative practices.



Mr. Odumboni made this observation yesterday, in his statement on the occasion of this year’s World Habitat Day, where he highlighted the need for residents, to maintain a cleaner and healthier environment, in their various business facilities and residential areas.



He said, “For the environment to be conducive for living and business transactions, the onus lies on us to keep it clean. Failure to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment leaves us vulnerable, exposing our homes to preventable health and environmental challenges, such as disease outbreaks, blockage of drainage channels and flooding, among others”.



The LAWMA boss said the Authority was working round the clock, to ensure that the waste management needs of residents in the state were met, adding that the agency was working with PSP operators for prompt evacuation of wastes generated by tenements across the Lagos metropolis.



He urged residents to patronise assigned PSP operators and desist from dumping refuse at inappropriate locations or giving same to already outlawed cart-pushers, whose activities undermine efforts of the agency, warning that defaulters would be made to face the wrath of the law.

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya says his administration will continue to utilize enormous potentials available in the Information Communications Technology, ICT to enhance efficiency in governance and public service.

The Governor gave this indication when he received in audience, the Global Vice President of ZKTecko in charge of West Africa Region, Mr. Kiven Wu.

ZK Tecko is a globally recognised ICT organisation with outlets in West Africa and Asia, engaged by Gombe state government to manufacture the device currently being used by the GOMBE STATE INTEGRATED PAYROLL, PAYMENT GATEWAY AND HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM COMMITEE (G-SIPHMIS).

Governor Inuwa said the need to introduce ICT becomes paramount in order to encourage and enhance efficiency in Government businesses across Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs.

He said, " the issue of governance is tied to the ability and efforts towards ensuring effective and efficient time management and deploying human resource in the correct place by ensuring that it delivers on the mandate assigned to it on every aspect of human endeavor".

He noted that Gombe State is faced with some challenges owing to her inability to fully deploy ICT to manage the art of governance while using human side by side as a means of providing them with resources to support their lives.

The Governor noted that the e- governance plan of his administration which entails digitising government processes and services in order to raise the coverage and quality of information and services that are provided to the general public, is yielding positive results.

The Governor assured ZK Tecko that his administration will continue to work with the technology firm in monitoring of staff attendance and other public service reforms matters to improve productivity.

He enjoined the global ICT giant to give all the necessary technical support to the state, assuring them that more jobs await them in other states across the country if only they distinguish themselves in Gombe.

The Vice President, ZKTecko in charge of West Africa, Mr. Kiven Wu said what he experienced upon his arrival to Gombe has justified the fact that the status of Gombe State as the number one in the Ease of Doing Business in the country was not a fluke but a well deserved honour.

"We have been in Gombe for three days and within this period we met the Commissioner of Trade and Industry and his counterpart in the ministry of Finance and we had discussions on several issues which made us realize why Gombe stands out among its peers in the Country".

Mr Wu said over two thousand organisations within and outside Nigeria are using ZKTecko platforms to manage and monitor attendance which is critical to productivity.

He said his team was in Gombe to ascertain the efficiency of the devices earlier sent, detect problems if any for improvement.

"We also want to assure Gombe state Government that other devices required in all other local government areas for the staff attendance biometric data capturing have already been manufactured, programmed and will arrive Nigeria in no distance time for onward operation".
