.... Marriage different sha....

Some pple na their parent go feed them till their leg go balance well well...

Very common with Yorubas...and it's a good idea...a lot of my mates married through this route..and most are doing fine now.

Anyway, regardless of what u are earning now ..it's just a phase, don't stay there...

keep moving, keep walking, keep looking for ideas, keep asking questions...keep solving problems....keep believing!!

You are absolutely right lol.
If not for this same pattern u mentioned, I would av been miserable or even gone 6ft with responsibilities. The month I resigned from my 20k hotel job out of frustration where about 15k goes to transportation, which also was the same month I got a loan of 1M to start up a business I have envisioned, my girlfriend (now wife) ran to me that she got pregnant. I was really devastated and trouble minded, after dragging back ND forth, I used half of the money to settle bills that comes with pregnancy ND did small introduction and she moved in with us in the family house. The other half of the money I used on a charcoal business wic didn't even manifest and it pack up few months later as the price of product skyrocket in the market.
To tell u it was my mom and my elder sister who kept me grounded as I do not have to bother majorly on food and I do so when I have enough from the little I earn from a patry teaching job I picked up whereas I have to provide for wife ND my daughter. I also do enjoy the support of my wife as she also has her business and we all just managing through.
I am very hopeful things will turn around, I am just buttressing ur point as u do not find anything bad to it, if not for this pattern, alot out there would av gone mad.....

If there's no support anywhere, if one like mk e go marry with 30k, him body go tell am....

"Spend below what you earn. This is where a lot of couples run into avoidable problems. With #62,OOO monthly, you should not live in an apartment more than 6Ok annual rent."

You don't need a soothsayer to tell you Seun Oladele is a SILLY boy who got his hands on one of those personal finance books.

You will NEVER find a habitable apartment for #60,000 per YEAR. Except maybe somewhere in Borno State.

Also getting married on a #30k or even #60k salary is just being dumb. That's NOTHING!

Deduct transport fare from that money and it's even LESS than nothing.

Whatever is left after Tfare would not even be enough to feed ONE person not to talk of feeding a FAMILY.

Also the idea that you could get married in January at a salary of #30k and MAGICALLY be on a salary of #200k by March is RIDICULOUS.

While not completely impossible, such leap in salary is RARE and UNLIKELY.

There is NO difference between planning your life on something like that and playing BetNaija as a viable financial strategy.

It's just STUPID!

You're factual the op is delusional...

i had to send wes a message and they said im not supposed to make any payment and i should visit nipost. omo i left it for them o. after all i have the soft copy already

Oh that's nice
Pls can I ask how u made Ur payment to Wes. I am about making payment and I have been having difficulty with it. Someone told me GTB mastercard do allow dollar online transaction and I am about going to open an account with GTB. Pls do u have an idea on this or any means I can make use of to pay to Wes...
Secondly, I have already submitted an application for Wes ICAP credentials evaluation and a reference number generated but I'm yet to make payment so I later decided to go for Wes basic evaluation but I do not see the option to modify from ICAP to Basic. Is it advisable I creat another account and pick the basic option then make payment. Hope my first submitted application with reference number already generated won't cause confusion with my application.

This credential verification is very tricky.

We had a recent situation (with WES) in June of this year and this was how it panned out:

1. Since WES was a requirement for admission, there were no alternatives. Registration was done on WES, with all the necessary details but payment was not made.

2. ETX,ng was contacted to get the process done and it was discovered that if you ask ETX to contact your Nigerian school, you're on a long thing. It's better you contact your school yourself, pay the necessary fees and give them ETX details. So, register your details on ETX and then get the codes and give it your school.

3. Depending on how long it takes for your school to process the transcript (federal and state schools take between 2-4 weeks), once ETX receives your transcript directly from the school through that secure channel, they will send to WES within 24-48 hours.

4. Once ETX confirmed that they have sent it. We followed up with WES to be sure they received it and the details are intact. We paid WES (using an international card to bypass all that Naija banks wahala).

This is WES on Facebook (https://web.facebook.com/WorldEducationServices). They are pretty quick in their DMs and Contact option on their website (wes.org).

Now pray to God that WES do not do a wrong evaluation.

Also check out ETX.ng. They respond to Emails faster than DMs.

Both organizations have not-so-good reviews online (as there are lots of issues with their processes, but with God, patience and some smarts, you can navigate through.

Good day sir, pls I would like to ask for Ur input. My school prepare my transcript in a sealed envelope and handed over to me to go about sending it to Wes myself. Pls which courier service do you think I can use in faxing my credentials. I have tried registering on etx.ng but to no avail...

Preferably do it to US equivalent as the US has more universities. Evaulate both and notify WES when and who to send the results to. If you are not looking at scholarships, then it means you are very rich or you have a wealthy guardian/parent to sponsor you through school.

https://www.nairaland.com/3033375/having-issues-wes/59

Thank you for your prompt responses. One of my uncle want to sponsor me. I just want to know if there will be need for Wes evaluation before applying to either US or Canada university or I can just start applying to universities without the evaluation.
Please make me understand... Thank u

Gerrard59:

You only need GRE fee, TOEFL fee, WES fee, SEVIS fee, visa application fee and flight ticket. Aside the UK, most countries' universities' offer scholarships, and as you stated, they are competitive. Why shouldn't they be? Everyone loves good things, and good things don't come easy or cheap. Yu must work hard for them. In order to compete, you need to have a competitive profile. I would outline the profile of folks I know one-on-one and from a distance:

- First class in Biotechnology from a private university and MSc from a federal university in the south east who is pursuing his PhD in the US. Source of funding: Graduate Fellowship (very competitive form of sponsorship by US' universities).
- First class in Biotechnology from a federal university who pursues his graduate studies in the US. His first class was even celebrated on the front page sef.
- First class in Chemistry from a federal university, and I think should be done with his PhD in the US. Prior to leaving Nigeria, he taught GRE/GMAT to job seekers in Nigeria.
- First class in Petrochemical engineering from a state university now in Canada pursuing his MSc, and as we discussed would move to the US for his PhD. He was a math teacher prior to leaving Nigeria.

While all are first class (including others too numerous to mention), there are also those with 2.1 who get scholarship to study abroad. I know one who did and would complete his PhD this year. I know another in Germany who we communicated via Nairaland and should be done with his PhD sef. Had a 4.33 in Chemistry from a state university. Myself, I had a 2.1 and got scholarships when I arrived. My parents said either I get scholarships as 25 million would not be spent even though they had/have it. No be only me dem born.

To secure these scholarships, your profile must be competitive, as admission into grad school is very competitive. I thought competition would have reduced as Chinese students shy away from the US, but Indians don cover the gap. First class graduates are more likely to be sponsored because foreign universities judge us mainly based on our grades before other factors compared to how they would assess Americans, Europeans or Chinese. A Chinese grad with 2.1. from Fudan University has little to exhibit compared to a 2.1. from UNIBEN. To compete favourably against that Fudan grad, it is better to possess a first class.

Hello sir, pls I have a question on the WES evaluation.
Do I really need to evaluate my results to either a Canadian or US degree equivalent.
I have a diploma certificate with 3.70/4.0 cgpa and a degree with 3.0/5.0 cgpa. Do I really need to evaluate my results with Wes before applying to any Canadian or USA universities. My diploma certificate/result is part of my university admission i.e I joined via DIRECT ENTRY into the university.
Note I will not be looking into any scholarship route as that path is extremely competitive.
Secondly, if my Wes evaluation can give me a 2.1 Canada or US degree equivalent, can I still go the scholarship route?!

Thank you.

My bro,it's well....

Simply because life's telling hard on you today doesn't mean you should give in...... Just like you said, move on and Keep striving hard....

Reminds me of how I toured Niger State and Abuja way back in 2016 all in the name of hustling.......Got my asssss kicked out by my sister who invited me over simply because I spoke against her kind of lifestyle which was irritating........

But these days,Personally,I don't really give a Fk about how many difficulties life may throw at me.......But one thing I keep on telling myself is that --no matter what,my tomorrow will definitely be better than todays.....

I say a big amen to your personal prayers and may God help us ALL....
Thanks for the words...

Recently, the major challenges for individual is a CAPITAL for start up;

I sat down and brood on how I failed in making strategy planning and how I blew it twice.

In 2020, I had the chance of choosing a state of my choice for NYSC deployment. I could have stayed home (no rent, no feeding etc) and save up aggressively but instead I opted going to Lagos maybe I'd interact and mingle and could possibly get chances to companies.

That didn't happen, COVID-19 struck, returned home empty handed.

In 2023, I had the opportunity to a loan facility for 1,000,000. My girlfriend (now wife) took in and went into marriage immediately. Took the money and sorted things. Also started a small business which doesn't see the light of the day.

Did I felt pain; YES
Did it weigh me down; YES
Did I regretted it; NO

I had move on and keep pushing.

Romance / Re: My Girlfriend Is Giving Me Attitude Because I Didn't Celebrate Valentine by vikgreen01(m): 5:18pm On Feb 15
Supremedrizzy:
Women can be really funny at times and take frivolous things serious. My girlfriend came around to stay with me for a while, so she was kinda of expecting that we would celebrate Val or stuff but unfortunately I am low on funds cos I just settled some bills earlier this month.

After work today, I just bought only 1k palm wine because we enjoy taking it together, but I observed she was a bit moody. I just faced my front cos I had just 5k on me and I still have about 2weeks to go till the next pay day so I am being very prudent with it.

She kept making side comments about how other ladies would be receiving gifts from their boyfriends by now and other sarcastic talks. She lager opened up this night about how today is her worst val ever and it's more of a haters day for her. I told her to calm down, after all we have celebrated Val for the past two years very well so she shouldn't be upset about us not going out today. She insisted that it's not about us going out but I couldn't even get her fish or meat, I simply told her that I can't afford anything now and she's been giving me the cold shoulder.

This is my reply to one. Na u dey stress urself...

I had a heated argument with a girl I've been seeing for a few months the other day. She called me, saying she was hungry. Typically, I would respond to such a request, but that particular day, my Opay was having issues. She then started accusing me, saying I wasn't taking care of her, despite the fact that she owns a fashion design shop and is financially independent. I told her that I'm only obligated to take care of her if she were living under my roof, and that she lives alone and her family is close by. She got angry and accused me of not loving her, even though I do give her some stipends like 10-15k from time to time. I responded that she has parents and was taking care of herself before I met her. If she is my wife then that's different.

My question is "are you obligated to take care of a girlfriend?

I always tell them I'm not her father.
