EducationRe: Did You Ever Regret The Choice Of Your Course Of Study? by vikgreen01(m): 9:41pm On Apr 09, 2022
Lordbinsmar:
Nice one Bro. I studied mechanical engineering and I don't regret. I don't care what others are saying about the course. It gives me satisfaction and I am happy doing what I love. The course has opened lots of opportunities for me. I'm grateful to God I studied mechanical engineering.

But the irony is that one of the best graduating student in my set never love mechanical engineering he choosed the course based on reputation, now he doesn't have enough motivation to continue in this domain, but he is doing great on his own and I am sure studying the course has equipped him with some transferable skills he can use in other aspect of life.

Keep chasing your dreams Bro. Start looking for schorlarship opportunities in the US, Canada and Europe. There are a lot of opportunities for STEM courses in these countries but you need excellent grades and lots of proffesional development to win these schorlarships.

For example as someone mentioned work very hard during your final year project and try to get it published. I did the same and it really helped me. I recently won a schorlarship to study naval architecture and marine engineering in Europe. During my interview, the Proffesor in charge is a Proffesor of ship structures. He was impressed with what he saw on my CV, as I had worked on several projects and research in finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics. He wanted to be sure if what I had on my CV is a scam or I really know what I am doing. He asked me more than 6 technical questions on application of finite element analysis to ship structural analysis and I was able to answer all the questions perfectly because I have developed expertise in this domain. On that spot, I knew I won the schorlarship already even before the results was published. A close friend of mine also shared the same experience.

My point is that when I was busy learning software, working on projects and publishing my research work. It was really difficult but now everything has paid off.

Wish you the best in your academic pursuit. If you want me to put you through schorlarships opportunities, you can message me directly but for now look at schorlarships such as DAAD, ERASMUS MUNDUS AND SWEDISH PROFFESIONAL SCHORLARSHIP. if you have interest to further your education in Europe. I don't know a lot about Canada and USA, but I have several friends that are currently studying in these countries on schorlarships.

If possible do make sure you graduate with a first class honour's. It will make things easier for you, but even with a second class upper with hard work, you will get fully funded schorlarship.
CHEVENING and SWEDISH scholarship don’t emphasize on degree point thou it matters in university admissions

Lots for you. You can work in Food Manufacturing coy(breweries, confectionery etc) , Petrochemicals (eg fertilizer) , Oil and Gas etc.
Even in the military. Chemistry, industrial chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering/science are all under explosive engineering and/or explosive science and technology but I see some commenters insulting those courses. Go and look at the ongoing direct short service commission for professionals of the Nigerian army many of their so called professional courses are been relegated….

If you follow Nigeria school system very well, you will no that 80% of biochemistry student are those that couldn't make it to medicine and surgery that ended up in biochemistry. It was never my choice of course and I did not have anybody to guard me through when applying for university, though the internet was never rampant like now. So I ended up chosen the wrong course. That is why I am shouting it here for the younger generation never to make the mistake I made
Lol
Bro is the course really that bad.? I have been seeing people insulting this course. grin grin I have seen some graduates of biochemistry in the military, some working in flour mill, pharmaceutical company, medical lab, beverages company nd even to some extent in the hospital. I have a street friend that always hype this course just because that’s what his elder bro studied and he has worked with 3 top pharmaceutical firm like norvatis and two others wic I can’t remember as medical sale rep. He told me his bro was given official car and he has been able to build houses as well as living well. Reasonable graduates has bagged fully funded scholarship with this discipline. The rate of unemployment is just too high in this country that’s why some courses just look so useless nd irrelevant. This biochem is what I have been seeing people hype abroad. U really crack me up with your comment wic made me rush to quote u and mind u I am even seeing some commenters saying they know some professional graduates still jobless. In this country it’s just what it is. Truly with no backings, one will suffer with studying irrelevant courses.

He's a corporal.
It seems the commission cadre of the US army is very hard to join. I have seen/read a lot of Nigerian born parading as NCO.

Secondly those folks yarning Nigerian soldiers will see this corporal and b crumbling for him, is it if this corporal see a commissioned officer of the Nigerian armed forces,,, can he(the corporal) still be feeling high nd brag.

I am even thinking this US corporal cannot see a Nigerian sergeant and still have the gut to have a feel of leverage thou I am guessing non commissioned cadre and commissioned cadre is clearly differentiated in all continents wic make me think this corporal cannot even look the face of a Nigerian commissioned officer or any other country.

Thanks if U can offer an insight on this.

My friend is very close to this senior bro family nd it was there he heard the guy denounced cultism 18yrs ago… he changed location, got married nd was a driver ( I don’t know if it’s Uber or bolt they call those driver) in a airport here. For them to trail him he must have been a deadly hit man during his regime… I believe the op narrating his evil days is an act of confession and he should be watchful and prayerful.

Again, shut the fk up
In other climates, the courses are good as useless. No, no one should go waste 4yrs studying a course they will never use or a course they will need to learn a skill and use the skill instead, 4years is a freaking longtime enough to become a millionaire. It's better not to go to university at all than to go study a course with no opportunity
The 4years can be dedicated to something else that would bring great income
Or better still, they should be eating and sleeping instead of having to go through pains, waste time and money. And yes, I'm being rude to you because I am angry that people still patronize those courses at university and they still have large amounts of students in class, just because people like you told them to do it
Firstly u must have been living a bitter life… I will stop at this junction with you…. And did I just hear u say in other climates it’s still as useless… smh….
Secondly, i can easily deduce u have never see the four wall of a classroom on the mention of eating and sleeping rather than accept any form of being learned
Thirdly, I know u can’t have this conversation with me in this manner in a real life setting u can only hide behind ur keyboard

3.5/5 will definitely make 3.0/4 when we have guys with 3.3 and 3.2 making 3/4. I have seen a 2.92 sef. The thing with WES from my interaction with people that have done it is that you course load also matters and the last two years of university how strong it is. I believe you stand a good chance doing the Wes evaluation. People with 2.2 do WES evaluation and get 3.0/4.

@Gentlesoul2021
Oh this is a relieve thanks so much for ur time… the wes evaluation is just too expensive about 208 dollars…

Will you shut the fk, all those that studied that course that I know can't get any job, and one guy recently commuted suicide after years of studying, time wastage, and still poor. He decided to kill himself and wrote a note.
People like you are the reason why innocent young people still go study the useless course
Just because you know one person out of millions doesn't mean there's an opportunity there,it's a waste of mind
U see I don’t throw jabs at people but you ve really display how mannerless you are nd u think u can just come at people… I saw a comment where a guy said 35% of individuals who studied useless course actually did make good use of it but here u are saying one in a million… it’s better to go to sch nd be learned with a useless course nd along the line added a good skills to it… from ur perspective haven’t u seen how tough it is to even make use of a good course. The useless courses u are actually criticizing dont u see how lucrative they are in other climes…. I am not here to drag issues with u but u can do well by communicating ur opinion with a logical approach rather than displaying your stupidity.

The major schools I have seen accept the results in the scale our universities use. I am avoiding schools that need WES evaluation which is very expensive. And from people who I have seen do the WES evaluation a 4.45 will most likely land in 3.6+/4. Which is a First class overthere.
What of someone that transfer to a uni thru direct entry nd start at 200lvl.. although WES do say they should submit their poly grades alongside the uni grades for evaluation and i heard a 3.5/5.0 will not make 3.0/4.0 and again I heard post grad point in the US start with 3.0 upward. With what I heard as to a 3.5 in a scale of 5.0 cannot make 3.0 in a scale of 4.0 can my poly grades of 3.5/4.0 sum up in the evaluation….

That's the magic, man.

My hands are tie right now but somehow you manage to draw me out with this your story. During my finals, a friend called to inform me about a sure NPF plug and I could pay next to nothing to get a slot but I was a neck-deep into reading as our exams was by the door. Well, to cut the boring story short, I rejected the move and I didn't make the distinction class too, few months after NYSC, the homie met me while hustling as a cleaner while he was already an inspector..

Let me just stop here. I'm grateful for everything though.
This is heartbreaking… I’m sure u won’t relent… we keep moving… I didn’t even included the invites I got from navy for their non degree category wic I also attempted coupled with a connection plug nd I cud just join their medical unit nd start from somewhere but I was aiming too high thinking a degree certificate will do more justice but the race is still on anyways…

I just concluded my service year on February 2022....barely a month ago and I'm still job hunting, although I have submitted so many applications but the job invites that are coming through are from lagos.

I'm currently in the east. Don't have anybody to stay with in Lagos for now. Now, I'm somebody that like to get a work in career or field that does not allign with my course of study, remember...I studied Animal and Environmental Biology and I came out with a good 2:1. In terms of job opportunities in Nigeria in respect to what I studied, it is very limited and chances of me getting in a job is very slim considering Nigeria factors as I don't have any connection.

A friend adviced me to go for my masters abroad and I told him, there is no money to do the initial processes although I believe in myself that I can get full funding if I apply but the money to write the necessary exams is not around, reason I'm trying my best to get a work of any kind that doesn't necessarily require what I did in school. So many people are doing it and if I ask them, they will say, they got it through graduate trainees and entry level roles in organizations and firms

I'm somebody that likes working in logistics company and as a customer representative but the major hindrance I'm having right now, is not having the experiences that will make me to work in those fields. Some, if not all of the job offers I always come across require for 1-3 years experience which I Don't have.

So guys, what's the best way to get through this? Just one month out of service and I'm already feeling bored at home doing nothing apart from helping my parents in the farm works and reading a basic course on UI/UX designing?

Please any advice of any kind is duely welcomed. Insults are welcomed too. I out here to learn because, nobody knows it all.

About digital skills....I can write but currently don't have a system to do the job again.

The mods please help me move it to the right thread and if possible, Front page.
Corper shun…. Ur posting of khaki on statuses don finish now ur eye don clear… welcome to the reality of life….

Are u on LinkedIn. If not go and register there nd start reading people’s journey and success there u mingle with people. Secondly u can kick start ur job hunt in ur location nd u might get thru since u don’t have a relative in the state the invites is coming for u… I also had so many invites in my email from Lagos. Lagos is really lucrative in terms of job opportunities. Lastly, u can opt in for volunteering role or virtual internship (either paid or free) programme/training just to acquire some reason work experience… it’s not easy out there…. all the best!!!

I lost one job opportunity during my finals and it still bite till date. Wasn't that street smart enough to have started hustling from my sophomore days, if I had done that when I had the chance, the story would have been another thing today.

But then, I'm grateful for all those times, everything now is just a bonus.
Reading through ur comment brings back my most grievance situation… I spent almost 10 years migrating thru sch (3years diploma, 5years degree plus a year strike nd 1 year of nysc). I was in my final yr in 2019 when I got an invites from a fed uni wic I applied for their non teaching academic staff with my diploma but I brushed it off thinking I sud focus nd graduate first then a better offer may come up Nd again in 2020 got shortlisted for army ssc/dssc course nd still couldn’t go cos I was serving then…. According to ur last paragraph been grateful is def the magical way to reach the top…

I remember back then in school when those children from poor families used to tell me that no course is useless. A lot of them were studying biochemistry microbiology and co.

I didn't believe, I focused more on my skills and started earning six figures by my second year in school....

Today I'm hitting more than half a million back to back and they are secondary school teachers...

Education is great but if you're not very intelligent, get a skill or get smart.... You'll need them....

Many courses in Nigerian Universities are useless, you will not know until you graduate.

Wake up
Are u saying biochemistry and microbiology are useless.. these are courses that has librated some set of individuals and they are been thankful…. It’s just so unfortunate your friends are secondary school teachers wic is also part of the scope of their discipline and as time goes on they can climb the ladder and go on to become a lecturer yet there are still lucrative sectors where these courses are best fit… you’re raking half milli just be thankful and get this what u do others might try it and still fail… this life is really an irony….. RomanceRe: I Feel Like She Manipulated Me On Getting Her Pregnant by vikgreen01(m): 10:36am On Mar 12, 2022
Brunosamel:
Hello everyone,
One of my girlfriend manipulated me into having sex with her while she was ovulating and the funniest part is I didn't cum inside her but she ended up getting pregnant and denied it when ever I ask her if she was pregnant and she denied it, if I told her let's go for a pregnancy test she will refuse not until after 5 months getting to six moths she have finally revealed that she is pregnant. We had sex on October last year before this happened.

She once told me she would love to be the mother of my child, but I laugh it off now this has happened, I have already told her I will be doing a paternity test after she has given birth just to confirm that the baby is mine and also I told her she should remove her mind from marriage cuz I'm not going to marry her.

We have ups and down but she doesn't seems to leave me even after breaking up with her she will end up in coming to my shop, I even showcase other women in front of her, she will cry about it but still yet she is still with me, she said she can't love anyone else except me, she adores me and pleases me all the time, she calls me daddy, hubby she worship me even if I treat her like shit and she hardly disobey me. I love her though but not in that way of spending the rest of my life with her.

I will be going for NYSC this month and I'm not planning on coming back, cuz I want to leave everything behind and start a new life, hearing this seems like a set back from my goal, I don't know if I should just go my way and forget if it even happened in the first place or what if I move on and at the end the baby is mine cuz I have already vouch my child will never grow up without a father and at the same time I feel manipulated cuz this could have been avoided but I guess her mind is already made up
Note: I'm the only son of my family and my dad is late.

What's your take on this, I have told her I'm not ready to father a child yet and she says she can handle it that I shouldn't bother myself and she won't bother me either.

I need good advice on this
Op I think she doesn’t have parents or relatives that will drag her ass come ur house or ur parents house nd drag things with u which will drag u in the mud… she manipulated u..? How’s that possible no b u dy thrust heavily nd jerk inside.. u better take that child nd don’t let a child grow up hating u..
