IamAnderson: lol that's an unfortunate truth, a lot of people blog based on conspiracy, exaggeration and fake news just to get a few clicks on their articles. the best thing is to just fact check and always question when you can, sometimes when you question people on some things they claim to be sure about, they'll start rambling or run.
their was a vet that posted sometime last month that raw meat could cause a lot of things from giardiasis to antibiotic ingestion, after questioning him I got to see that he sourced his post from a random article online that was obviously not written by a medical professional and the antibiotic ingestion issue was disproved after a test carried out in south Africa in 2013 showed that only 3% of meat in the market contain traces of antibiotics. and that was in south Africa I'm sure the results will be lower in Nigeria where herders rarely give their cows drugs.
after disproving him the guy blocked me and I'm sure he'll keep on telling that fake news to his customers
sometimes people project articles written by people in other countries onto Nigeria where the same things hold no weight. someone else has told me that feeding dogs eggs from enhanced chickens is bad and can negatively affect the dog. it sounds like a good advice right?, but when you think about it you'll realise that how many farmers enhance their chickens in Nigeria? Here people just buy birds and lock them up so they can feed them and collect the eggs to sell. sometimes people burden themselves with issues that do not align with our own way of life someone that lives in the suburbs in the u.s with their indoor dog will write an article about bacteria infections that can give their dogs a tummy ache and someone in Nigeria with an outside dog that lives like the average Nigerian outside dog being exposed to bacteria every day will carry it on their head like it's a religion
another funny thing is that even in other countries people raw feed a lot, most of those dogs you see and admire from different foreign kennels are raw fed. it's not a new thing, some people fear raw feeding but will gladly import dogs from raw fed parents that were also brought up with raw food, does it make sense? I've still not seen any solid reason why people shouldn't raw feed, most of the points are arguable, improbable, or straight lies this raw feeding argument shouldn't even be an issue again at this point, let me stop here it's like I've typed too much Your points are valid but what cracked me up is how the vet had blocked you lmao What made him block you exactly? Maybe he felt he's right while you're wrong |

IamAnderson: that's the truth, if humans can build up resistance towards things what more a dog that lives it's whole life in contact with all these things? it annoys me when I see people talk about dogs like they are human babies that if you sneeze you can make them sick a lot of people have never seen a dog with salmonella infection before but they talk about it online like it's aids, that's how one vet was saying raw meat can cause gairdiasis, it's sounds like a deadly infection but do you know that humans can also get it too and recover quickly?, a human child can recover from it within 3 days then imagine how insignificant it'll be to an adult dog?. I feel people just google names of infections and bacteria and attach it to the disadvantages of feeding raw meat. if you read up about most of these things you'll see they're very insignificant and improbable in occurrence, don't let the big names scare you Lol these things don't really scare me bro, I get most people hype things in a bid to boost their site and blogs but sometimes they've a point. Most times |

IamAnderson: another thing I remembered now, you know that the commercial dry food people buy contains bacteria and naturally occurring organisms? if you read the back of dry food you'll clearly see it there. they are added during production to build up immunities and aid digestion in dogs. yogurt also contains bacteria, that's why you're advised to feed puppies yogurt to boost resistance to infections. bacteria is a regular occurrence in a dog's life, some people act like they have less stronger immunities than humans with the conspiracies they cook up. humans get exposed to the same things but we survive so imagine how it is for a dog?
dog's can actually digest rotting meat and eggs and come out unscathed but people aren't ready for that conversation the strays and the animals in the wild do it all the time, a dog that has become used to it will do it with ease Even some humans can digest some of these without problem too. Imagine what prisoners eat but if you dare then you'd purge so bad |

IamAnderson: exactly my point, a lot of our dogs eat lizards and some rodents when we aren't there but we feel one raw egg will bring a dog down I've seen half eaten rats in my compound before, I've caught my dog eating pigeon eggs from a nest that fell into the compound, I've seen him eating insects severally, saying I won't feed him raw eggs to avoid bacteria is a joke Lol, I did rat hunting with Gustaf earlier this week and after the operation, he (with Augusto) ran away with the dead rat and devoured them Just last night I was trying to get something outta augusto's mouth the smell of rotten rat oozed outta his wet mouth and I ran away in disgust... Wondering what kinda dog he is |

IamAnderson: the brushing thing is to strengthen the teeth and remove plaque that can cause tooth decay especially in older dogs, it's not really a necessity it's just a way of keeping your dog's dentition in good shape. I brush my dog Fine, I don't brush mine tho Murphy had a pure white set of teeth while Gustaf's is kinda yellowish lol I think it's a thing of nature |

IamAnderson: the coccidiosis thing is just funny, coccidiosis can be gotten from soil, water and food you know? they'll never say that but they'll blame everything on raw food. some of them have chickens in our compounds but we're not afraid of coccidiosis infection on our dogs or ourselves yet they say if you give a dog raw egg from the same chickens they'll get coccidiosis does it make sense? Lol it doesn't, was kinda confused hence the reason I had to upload it here for all |

IamAnderson: who said so? raw eggs are very good for dogs, they help their coat and eyes. it even works with humans too, raw egg is a natural hair moisturizer and conditioner. the avidin, vitamin A, linoelic acid and protein in eggs are all hair boosters for both humans and dogs.
some people say raw eggs can bring salmonella infection to the dog but the same people have never brushed their dog before and leave the dog outside to pick and eat things around without even thinking twice. so how does a dog that is exposed to bacteria every single moment of it's life want to breakdown because of ordinary salmonella? salmonella isn't a big deal to dogs not to talk of dogs that have built up immunities against most bacterias. the average Nigerian dog doesn't brush, eats rodents and insects raw, picks things from the ground, drinks water that has been left open for hours, eats food that flies have perched on, sparsely bathes,e.t.c if your dog passes through all that every day and you're still afraid of your dog getting exposed to bacteria then you're just deceiving yourself
another thing people say is that raw eggs cause biotin deficiency, that has also been proved wrong as egg yolk is rich in biotin and it takes an extraordinary amount of raw eggs to cause a deficiency.
when you want to raw feed eggs, buy fresh organic eggs and you'll be fine, nothing is going to happen to your dog What of terriers and hunting dogs bred to hunt rats and rodents is the bush, don't you think they're too exposed to the wild but how comes they survive and barely fall sick? I guess it's a natural thing tho I don't really supporting brushing dogs and all that, does a working dog need all these brushing and all that to survive? |

sulasa07: How will I be feeding a rabbit with #1.4mil a year,Am I crazy? In Nigeria you won't spend up to that amount, not even half that amount. According to the owner he eats about 12carrots a day and other things, 1k would buy the 12carrots and other little food for him daily so 1k times by 365 = 365k I personally spend upto 30k a month in upkeep/feeding my puppy the very first 2-3months they arrive while in a year I spend more than 200k for just one dog (feeding, vaccine, dog gears, treatment and all that) Feeding a pet is a thing of fun and I plan on getting a rabbit or two maybe next year |
