Usually at around 18 months they reach their height..... However they still grow in bulk up to 2.5 years

The reason to keep them lean is to keep as much weight of their joints as possible until the joints are fully developed.

A few pics of Mike this morning on our 10km hike.......pics don't do his size justice but what they do show is what a well conditioned working Boerboel should look like!

Now this got me thinking about the discussion on size we had yesterday, and proved what's wrong with alot of Boerboel breeders Internationally and even some local SA breeders
.Honestly speaking how many of those big(and fat) Boerboels would actually be capable of hiking even 1km?

According to the breed standard a balanced boerboel should weigh around 1-1.2kg(generally) for every cm he is tall hence Mike for example should weigh between 76-91kg(when fully grown) however to often I've seen Boerboels who around 65cm weigh upwards of 90kg.

Now don't get me wrong boerboels are gaint dogs, and there is nothing wrong with a boerboel weighing 90 or even a 100kg as long as its balanced and able to work.

Afrika Sakabuka is the heaviest Boerboel ever appraised in SA at 108kg, however he is perfectly balanced!!

My dream has always been to own such working boerboel bred differently from the shop boerboels but yet huge and athletic...

a country like nigeria cannot relate. We do not value humans let alone family. We value religion more than human lives and it shows that we really are confused set of people. Finland understands what it means to share quality time with loved ones, friends, family, spouse.
