SirWere: Recently, I got to test the "atheist in a foxhole" theory, unfortunately
My little cousin had a case of convulsion. He just shut up and started foaming in the mouth. All my uncle and aunt could do (in their defense, they both studied the arts) was watch helplessly in horror............and pray, of course. It was 3 am and there were no near hospital in sight. Fuel was not in both their cars...
And they prayed.
I put my hand to his mouth, forcing them to stay open because I knew if they closed, he would be axsphyiated. He almost bit my fingers off..
And still they prayed.
While struggling to keep his mouth open, he started foaming, saliva pouring from his mouth and frothing on my cloth...
And still they just watched......and prayed
He finally stopped gagging; and finally went limp...
Yet they watched, still too stunned to move, hoping I would somehow magically revive him.... And kept praying, of course.
When he went limp, I finally told them (shouted at them actually) to go open the door so I could carry him.
They finally burst into action and opened the door.
We ran to the neighbour's house, shouting liked castrated baboons for help...
They still muttered prayers,
we finally found a good helper and sped off to the hospital, where they stablilized him
The family started prayer in earnest and asked me to join. I couldn't really say no to something like that.
He survived the convulsion.......and the doctor complimented me especially for keeping his airways open.
To my relatives, it was God's work.
They did the testimony in church, of course.
It was god that did it
Draw a conclusion, that's all I will say So what would have happened if you weren't there? |

Aromas: No be unto salary? Any other thing is baseless. Our leaders are open to criticism and commendation. We look at issues at different quarters. Abi u bi salary earner? Adayi, that salary issue is enough to sit his ass down and get some serious work done. Pilgrimage isn't running away. Yes I am a salary earner but I don't work for the state government, but put yourself in those people's shoes. |

I'm Ebira. The only two words I've come across are Ozioma and Ejima. I can literally translate Ozioma to mean 'a child is born', dunno it's meaning in igbo, and ejima simply means twins, which I'm sure it's the same in igbo. |

OP reading your last update brought back memories, and even tears as I remembered the day I left where I served in Oyo West LGA, Oyo state. That day was the last time I shed tears as I saw my landlord crying as I was leaving. Just like you, every person I met back then made my stay a great one and I'm never gonna forget anyone of them. Thanks for sharing this your wonderful experience with us. |

Guys kudos for keeping this thread alive. It's been a while I visited. Just today I was telling my sister how I wish Enya would tour Africa (she's about to go on her first tour), how nice it would be to have her here in Nigeria. I have imagined being in that atmosphere, with Enya doing her magical thing, rendering the 'memory of trees' song, or 'Caribbean blue'. I have dreamt it, but nothing compares to experiencing it. I watch some of her live performances on youtube and I just imagine myself being among the crowd. Well, if Enya ever decides to perform in Africa, hopefully Nigeria, there's nothing I wouldn't give to watch her perform. What about you guys? |

Thanks guys. I called the number yesterday, a man picked it and I asked him a few questions concerning the interview. He was just dribbling me and all he could say was just come for the test/interview. He refused to mention the name of their company or the the position I'd be interviewed for, when he saw that I was persistent, he said he'd call back. As expected he didn't, so I rang him again in the evening, and he gave the name of their company as Alpha plus, but he still refused to state the position(s), googled them and discovered they're just another bunch of GNLD scammers whose case has one time being treated in this section. |

Afroconnect: Political office holders are servants of the people. In China a former minister just got a death sentence,In Brazil, there are wild protests due to allegations of corruption on the President and ex presidents, these are wise citizens, they know they are the masters and politicians are the slaves, cos we pay them with our taxes and National revenue.
The moments Nigerians all realize politicians are our slaves, then the dumb youths will stop fighting for them, but rather confront and attack them when they are not serving right, and when they steal, jail them for 30yrs or more. Our constitution needs to be amended. We the masters must demand our constitution carry higher jail terms for our political servants. America,UK-all nations of the world realise and apply this-Nigerians wake up,own and control your country and destiny. Sensible comment here. Most of us know this, but for some reasons I do not know we refuse to do something about it. Some of us are contented with the way things are done in our country, even though they're are always at the receiving end. These politicians have always been by for themselves only. They don't care about us at all. |
