Does the digit have to be such that when it is deducted from 100 only a single number is left?
This too works for a limited number of digits so it's pretty invalid.

I think this only works when the sum of the two digits is less than 10.
For example 67 * 11 isn't 6137.
It's 737. I stand to be corrected though.

Voting makes the whole process seem democratic. It appeals to the mind everyone that they helped select the best out of the better nominees. How would it be if organizers nominated and still picked out the winner themselves?? That's too much power for one person. If several people have been nominated, it's because they've passed the criteria and are considered better than others who weren't nominated. It's then up to everyone to pick the best.

People are very wicked in this world. Each time I go to my grandma's house, she'll show me fake thousands that people have paid her with.
One day, I was with her and this calabar south boy comes and asks to buy the most stupid thing so that I can break the fake one thousand naira note into smaller denominations for him. I just saw his singlet and wondered why he wanted to buy white handkerchief. One look at the money confirmed it was fake. I gave it back to him and told him the money was bad. He didn't even deny it. He just said ok and left. My grandma said I should have shown her the boy first so she'd remember his face. Some people have no fear even for old people.
I don't know how to really explain the process of detecting fake money to her.
