Nairaland is one forum with the highest level of responsible contributors on real issues, and i am sure to get helpful tips in this situation. I have a very close friend who has a 2.1 first degree in science laboratory technology. He is about 36yrs old and wants to go for a second degree in medicine or pharmacy. The issue is his premium is on viability of the program because he intends to establish his own outfit after graduation, though he may work for a while to gather experience. Please, my people which of the two would you recommend and why? He is submiting his application by tommorrow and still not decided. Please, help. Lalasticla, pls help move to front page to get more contributors. Thanks |
From the 15th paragraph, the wife called him @ 10am the day she died and informed him she was not coming home that day. If that is true, it implies the wife was very conscious of what she was doing and I may as well assume whatever she did with d so called pastor was of mutual consent and not induced. The story is getting clearer really. |
Its simple! Whether u are guilty of it or not, does not change God's clear stand against it. I was guilty until Christ took over. God hates it and so should every child of God. |
@Vinshu It's not a man's world actually. It's your society and you allowed your society make it a man's world. If you do the opposite of what society demands it will be the other way around. #Simple dem swear for u sef? Why can't u just accept what u cannot change and move on? One day u will challenge even God to a contest! Na wa you oooo |

M4gunners: Chaii i weep for my fellow youths who took to the street to campaign for APC hoping for job.I got bad news for you guys, as things is going now, there's no sign of Creation of jobs at least till the end of this year if a better solution to end Boko Haram is not fund . The good news is that, it's never too late for you guys to stand up and create job for yourselves. Job creation is not as complex as it is presented. Just like every principle of life, PLANNING! |
Thatz the point |
I just need GMB to focus on electricity and watch most other things fall into place. He should also champion accountability. We all expect him to do nothing less |
I have read various commentaries on the fuel scarcity. But why should Nigerians still suffer non availability of fuel, of all things! I decided to go into town to make a detailed research and I have come up with the following conclusions. First and foremost, I am based in Jos with quite a number of contacts across the country and this has really helped me to make an informed and wide spread investigation. 1. Poor Government Policy: The Nigerian government has a problem of sound policy. We all know that one does not need to be a rocket scientist to be able to draw out appropriate policies capable of taking care of such an embarrassing situation for a country of Nigeria's standard. Government should draw up well articulated policy that should make it impossible for petroleum products to ever be lacking. Government should fix the refineries, get more storage facilities, provide an effective product delivery mechanism and install electronic monitoring of product movement to ensure that dispensed products get to their destination accordingly. 2.Regulatory Body(DPR): The DPR officials are neck deep in sharp practices with the service stations to the extent that they ignore complaints of customers against erring serve stations. I remember calling the DPR representative in Jos several times to report sharp practices by Oando Service station at Zaria road, Mobil near Plateau Poly, Mobil at Faringada and some few others. They will promise to come but they will never show up. Severally the man personally shouted at me and told me to call the police or better still leave him alone. His phone number is 08033112432 3.Security Operatives: They are worst. Some times I wonder if those guys are serving the masses or the masses are their slaves. Every service station that sells PMS, security operatives and their allies get 98% of products. Some time they even buy and sell to black marketers. A lady who resisted them at mobil in faringada today was beaten and molested like a common criminal so helplessly that I began to weep. Now is it that the military authorities do not have channels of communication with the NNPC to take care of their energy needs? This is so disgusting painful. 4. The Masses: Nigeria will continue to remain in a mess until the citizens begin to fight for their rights. Imagine the incidence of the lady who was molested by the uniform men for standing up to them. Honestly, this country is a lawless country and unfortunately nobody cares. The most annoying part is when they come to the masses during campaigns as if we are important. Enough of this nonsense already, what is worth doing is worth doing well. If Buhari wants to work, let him work and he should be seen to be working otherwise we can as well give up hope on him and search for another Messiah. These are some of the observations I can make for now, you can add any that I may not have mentioned. |
No doubt, I supported Buhari for the presidency and still support him even now but I am very disappointed that at this level Nigerians are groaning under the heavy burden of fuel scarcity in the midst of harsh economic condition. One thing that baffles me is the availability of the product in every street in the hands of black marketers. If truly the product is scarce, from where are those street sellers getting it? I think somebody has to take responsibility for this fraud else Buhari will soon receive a treatment that will be worst than what Nigerians gave to Jonathan. There is an extent you push people and even the weakest becomes a beast! |
The senate of the federal republic just confirmed Amaechi minister. Details soon |
Mista, if you dont know what to do, go and follow Oshiomhole's advise. How can you allow your wife be the boss and come to NL crying. Its a simple matter, man up or shut up already! |
This is quite un-Barcanista like. Very weak points to say the least, without prejudice the president has done well so far even though I have not personally benefited yet |
Let them go for a scan. It could be fibroid. If it is, you can contact me. |
What did Sonni Tyoden do when he was Unijos VC? Has he returned all the money he despodently looted? Students he victimised, a man who has no respect for due process is here castigating Jang whose records he can never equate even if made a governor for decades. Let him and lalong go and sit down. Lalong who was a speaker in the days of Dariye, a known thief for that matter. Hissssssss out of thread. |
I have personally worked with Olorogun Gbagi as a foremost student leader. He is a truely successful business man, but I disagree with some of his positions on Jonathan expecially as it conerns the 2015 elections. All the same, much respect Sir. |
I hope Barcanista will not be affected, just kidding! |
Senator Bukola Saraki spoke to members of the press minutes after being sworn in as President of the Senate of the National Assembly. Senator Saraki spoke to the media just outside the Senate chambers. Senator Saraki’s controversial election took place with 57 Senators present out of the 108 member body. The vote also took place while All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders, including President Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo, were in a meeting to discuss various APC factions competing for leadership positions in the National Assembly. Late yesterday the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) endorsed Senator Bukola Saraki as Senate President, according to statements issued by the PDP Publicity Secretary Olisa Metuh. In his comments, Senator Saraki saluted President Buhari for remaining “steadfast” in his defense of the right of the National Assembly to choose its own leaders. “I am most honoured and privileged to be elected to serve as President of the Senate. I accept with humility and respect the honour you have conferred upon me today,” Mr. Saraki told members of the media. He also sought support and cooperation from senators, and asked members to be united. He also thanked the former President of the Senate, David Mark, for the “uncommon leadership” which he provided in the last eight years which led to the stability of the Senate. “May the future generation of citizens look upon the 8th National Assembly as a true assembly of our people’s representatives who did their best in the service of our nation. “I congratulate ourselves for this great day and the beginning of a new chapter in the history of our great Nation.http://saharareporters.com/2015/06/09/breaking-bukola-saraki-gives-first-remarks-controversial-senate-president |
A source at the Presidency has told SaharaReporters that Senator Bukola Saraki misled President Muhammad Buhari into believing that he was welcome to help broker a solution to a crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the choice of the party’s candidates for top legislative posts in the National Assembly, including President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives. The APC had chosen Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila as their candidates for the Senate Presidency and Speaker slots respectively. Senator Bukola Saraki But in a stunning development, Mr. Saraki was this morning elected as President of the Senate after garnering the block support of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and some APC senators who broke rank with their party. In a similar vein, PDP members of the House of Representatives threw their block votes behind Yakubu Dogara, selecting him as Speaker over the APC-endorsed Gbajabiamila. Our Presidency source accused Mr. Saraki, who had earlier shunned a meeting with Vice Present Yemi Osibanjo, of inviting President Buhari to intervene in the widening internal schism within the APC. In refusing to attend an earlier peace meeting with the vice president, Mr. Saraki had reportedly fumed that he could not be summoned to a meeting by a mere commissioner, a comment he later denied making. Soon after Mr. Buhari arrived in Abuja early on Tuesday, he invited all APC legislators to a meeting with him at the International Conference Center at 9 a.m. “Senator Saraki assured the president that he would attend the meeting,” said our source. According to the source, Mr. Saraki instead “held a marathon meeting with members of the People Democratic Party to cement their support for him.” The Ahmed Lawan faction of the APC awoke to news of the PDP’s endorsement of Mr. Saraki. Even so, they still headed for the 9 a.m. meeting called by President Buhari. They were waiting for the presidential parley when Senator Saraki and some other “rebel” senators of the APC moved into the National Assembly complex, where the police had thrown a cordon to prevent workers and reporters from entering, for the “election” of principal officers. While lawmakers loyal to Mr. Lawan and Mr. Gbajabiamila waited for President Buhari to arrive, word reached the president that Mr. Saraki had been elected as Senate President. “Mr. President felt deceived by Dr. Bukola Saraki. That’s why he did not bother to attend the [APC legislative] meeting he called. Mr. Saraki and his cohorts also ignored the protocol for the president’s formal proclamation for the inauguration of the National Assembly, a source close to Saraki said they relied on a letter written by Buhari asking them to be inaugurated. Instead, 57 senators loyal to Mr. Saraki, most of them PDP members, unanimously “elected” Mr. Saraki after he was nominated by Senators Dino Melaye and Sanni Yerima. The rebelling APC Senators worked overnight to produced new rules for the elections with the help of outgoing Senate President, David Mark. Mr. Mark was later elected as “Senate Majority Leader”. Mr. Saraki was quickly sworn-in as the new Senate President even as his APC colleagues were at the ICC waiting for Mr. Buhari to address them. Two APC lawmakers loyal to Senator Lawan and Mr. Gbajabiamila told SaharaReporters that they had hoped to move to the National Assembly for a real election after the “peace meeting” with President Buhari. The two lawmakers said they were dismayed to receive text messages reporting that Mr. Saraki had been elected. PDP governors from Rivers, Ondo and several other leaders of the party witnessed the election and swearing in of Saraki today. |
Yesterday, I wrote a piece, although with a very sleepy eyes in response to NgeneKwenu's topic titled " A list of Powerful Politicians Who "Defied" APC And Went Into Oblivion" You may wish to see it here, please ignore my grammatical omission and focus on the message https://www.nairaland.com/2366320/re-powerful-politicians-defied-apc. No man can take the place of God, APC have started derailing. However, the situation is still serviceable at least with the president's response I am sure something can still be done but this should serve as a lesson. https://www.nairaland.com/2368346/buhari-reacts-emergence-speaker-senate. |
As much as I would have ordinarily kept mute as usual on some of the undue interference of the APC leaders on some sensitive matters that should have been left to take their natural cause under circumstances such as these, I am however compelled to comment on this piece by my friend, NgeneKwenu. I am neither for Sen. Saraki nor Sen. Ahmed or for Femi nor for Dogara but I believe the party should have allowed the four of them go into the contest without giving any undue advantage to any of the contestants especially when the PDP has come out to state clearly their intention not to contest for any leadership position in the 8th assembly. Remember, these are all party leaders who contributed in no little way for the emergence of the president and for the party to come out with the reason of the geo political zone with the second highest vote in the election for producing the leadership of the senate, I believe it is a decision in bad taste and a complete disregard for the voters from the other zones without whose votes the president may not have emerged. Even the president himself has come openly to allow the process take its natural course but from all indication, the APC has not learnt anything from the PDP experience. On the list of those you said have gone into oblivion, I want to warn the APC not to take the place of God and proud itself up by threatening those who have contrary opinion or thinking the victory we now enjoy is as a result of its political SAGACITY rather, it should be seen as an act of God to deliver this country from the shackles of the then PDP which it meted to defenseless Nigerians. You may wish to recall: 1. The Parable of the Rich Fool{LK.12:18-20} …18"Then he said, 'This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.19And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry."' 20"But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?'… 2.The Nebuchadnezzar episode {Dan.4:32-33} …32and you will be driven away from mankind, and your dwelling place will be with the beasts of the field. You will be given grass to eat like cattle, and seven periods of time will pass over you until you recognize that the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind and bestows it on whomever He wishes.' 33"Immediately the word concerning Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled; and he was driven away from mankind and began eating grass like cattle, and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair had grown like eagles' feathers and his nails like birds' claws. enough said! |
@ Sirolad, are u invited on friday? |
Former Inspector General of Police Mike Okiro, who also is the current chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), was reportedly subdued during questioning yesterday by anti-corruption agents over his alleged role in a fraud involving N350 million. Mike Okiro A source at the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) told a correspondent of SaharaReporters that Mr. Okiro seemed sometimes disheartened yesterday as he was questioned on alleged fraudulent embezzlement of funds obtained by the police commission for an election-related study. Mr. Okiro presented himself early yesterday morning at the offices of the ICPC. His police orderly, George Todonu, and two officials of the Police Service Commission, including an accountant, A. Bisala, accompanied him to the ICPC. Other PSC officials arrived at the ICPC headquarters about two hours later, our source disclosed. Mr. Okiro’s interrogation arose from a petition against him that was submitted to the ICPC by Aaron Kaase, an official in the PSC’s press and public relations department. The Police Service Commission suspended Mr. Kaase for contacting the media with allegations of Mr. Okiro’s fraudulent activities. The petition accused the former Inspector General of massively defrauding the Police Service Commission. Part of Mr. Kaase’s petition alleged that Mr. Okiro swindled the PSC of more than N275 million. A copy of the petition stated that the PSC received N350 million “from the National Security Adviser (NSA) purportedly to train her staff in monitoring the conduct of the Nigeria police in the concluded general election.” The petitioner added that the PSC asked for and received approval from Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) to use “selective tendering method” for the training of commission’s staff who were to monitor the police role in the 2015 general elections. Mr. Kaase wrote to the ICPC that Mr. Okiro “quoted the prices for the training as follows: Abuja (Abuja staff) 500 participants, awarded to Bobec & Associates at N95.3 million; Kano staff (200 participants) awarded to Direct Knowledge Consult Limited at N95 million and Lagos staff (200 participants) awarded to Tzone Communications Limited at N85 million.” His Kaase’s petition underscored the fraudulent nature of Mr. Okiro’s breakdown of the training funds. Specifically, the petitioner noted that the entire employees of the Police Service Commission are not up to 400 in number. “It is also a fact that the Commission has no office in Lagos and the entire South West. It is also a fact that the Commission has less than 10 members of staff in Kano,” the petition stated, adding that Mr. Okiro misled the Bureau of Public Procurement in order to obtain an approval for a fraudulent disbursement of the N350 million. Other allegations in Mr. Kaase’s petition include one that, in 2013, Mr. Okiro received N4.6 million ostensibly for a first class flight ticket to the U.S., but never made the trip. The petitioner also accused Mr. Okiro’s police orderly, Inspector George Todonu, of obtaining cash supposedly meant for two different police conferences that were scheduled within the same dates in Orlando, Florida (USA) and Dublin, Ireland. According to the petition, despite the fact that he collected monies for the two coinciding conferences, Mr. Todonu did not attend either conference. Mr. Kaase also accused the former IGP of using several of his personal aides, including Supreme Ibitomi and Peter Opara, as fronts to collect allowances from the commission. In a related development, Mr. Kaase reported that he had faced harassment and his life threatened for submitting the petition. According to him, at a meeting at Mr. Okiro’s office on June 2, 2015, a visibly shaken former IGP asked him to withdraw his petition, retract his media statements, and write an apology in exchange for the lifting of his suspension. Our source at the ICPC declined to reveal specific details of Mr. Okiro’s responses to specific allegations in Mr. Kaase’s petition, adding simply that the anti-corruption agency wanted to “do a thorough investigation.” Mr. Okiro was granted administrative bail and left the ICPC headquarters just after 4 p.m. yesterday after questioning. http://saharareporters.com/2015/06/05/okiro-subdued-during-icpc-questioning-over-n350-million-fraud-allegations |

No doubt, it may be too early to start casting aspersion, however, all well meaning Nigerians must make meaningful contributions to policies of government perceived to be a negation to the campaign promises of our president or the collective aspirations of all Nigerians. While I am very optimistic on the ability of Baba to deliver on majority of his campaign promises to the populace, I must also quickly point out certain observed deviation from what is expected of the current dispensation also known as ' PEOPLE'S REVOLUTION'. Baba may not have made any strong policy decision but recent events are pointers in the wrong direction. This write up is not in any form to draw conclusions, but to make certain observations for those who have Baba's ears to draw his attention to them. I will use this avenue to therefore mention a few of the observed deviations so far as: 1. Baba immediately after his inauguration said he would not intervene with the process of electing the officials of the national assembly, and not quite 48 hrs later, the same Baba is reported to have held a meeting with APC chieftains to draw out plans on how to deliver candidate(s) of a certain geo- political zone as reported by punch newspaper www.punchng.com/news/apc-lists-criteria-for-senate-presidential-candidate/ 2.It is no longer news that Baba clearly promised to do away with the office of the first lady, but immediately he was sworn into office he seems to have jettisoned this salient promise with crass disregard to the collective feelings of Nigerians, especially considering the fact that the said office is unconstitutional at the first place. This is a very bad omen. I remember how crude Nigerians were treated in Jos on Monday the 1st of June, 2015 when the First lady visited Jos, it almost made me to begin to loose hope in our hard earned expected change but we must not allow that to happen. As much as Baba has not categorically stated his support for the re-emergence of the first lady's office, he has not distanced himself from it either. 3.On the issue of public declaration of asset, late president Umaru Musa Yar' dua of blessed memory may have scored a pass mark. Even if Baba decides to make public his assets today, it will be on records that he was pressured to do so. 4.On the appointment of two spokesmen, I personally feel it was not necessary especially from Baba who believes in prudence in government. As I said earlier, while it may yet be too early to castigate Baba of any wrong doing, it behooves on us his true supporters to point out some of these negative indicators for necessary action before it is too late because any building raised on a wrong foundation is bound to fail and we cannot afford any form of failure. TO WHOM MUCH IS GIVEN, MUCH IS EXPECTED. Shalom |
