Did Jesus curse an innocent tree to demonstrate His power? The evangelists spent a lot of ink on the tree so you should not ignore that. Jesus spotted it from afar off, it was full of leaves, Jesus approached it looking for figs,he finds nothing, curses it. And they are not done. The next day they find it dead. Was the tree supposed to defy its Creator and produce fruit out of season as you commonly believe? Human traditions are powerful and that's why Jesus censured Pharisee for voiding the word of God with them. This is not seeing things differently, it is a faulty traditional interpretation being regurgitated here as the truth. Jesus expected the tree to have fruits probably from the foliage (no wonder it is mentioned). Unlike Gombs the plagiarist, I will be honest enough to quote my impeccable sources http://www.apologeticspress.org/apcontent.aspx?category=11&article=1956You may also want to see how other commentators treated the passage http://biblehub.com/commentaries/mark/11-13.htmThat fig was supposed to have something edible but it didn't and Jesus rightfully cursed it. Puny brained theologians such as mbaemeka haplessly regurgitate the BS of Jesus destructive powers at display and they don't even notice it PS: This is not a code but an actual ACT. You can't even begin decoding the significance behind it before you comprehend it. 1. Jesus is looking for fruit where he expects to find it. 2. Jesus is disappointed, there is no fruit 3. Jesus destroys that which was supposed to bear fruit but had none How many times did Jesus censure unfruitfulness? Bidam: We are different in the way we see things in the bible, that is actually what you are seeing there. But what i see is simply a prayer of powerful command. Jesus used the tree as an example to tell us that the authoritative spoken command of faith to actual circumstances in the natural realm is only the other side of a dependent, requesting heart before God in the spiritual realm.
Most of Jesus sayings shouldn't be interpreted literally and that was why i told you the tree represent a symbol. Jesus just demonstrated THE POWER OF WORDS by speaking to the fig tree.
If you read vv22 of another translation it says "have the God kind of faith" or let God faith be your example.
Jesus said "whoever says"(command) will have what he verbalizes.
Jesus sayings is written in code in symbolic spiritual language( 1 cor2:13) and hidden in the scriptures( 1 cor 2:7).
Or do you literally interprete Jesus saying when He told his disciples to be on the look out against the YEAST of the pharisees and Sadducees to mean exactly that? If Jesus did not explained it to them in the preceding verse, how will they know?
Another example to buttress my point is when Jesus being thirsty spoke to the samaritan woman at the well to fetch him water to drink. How do you explain His claim to the samaritan woman that if she drinks of his water she would never thirst?
Mbaemeka just nailed it the more for you. Have you checked the parable Jesus made in Luke 13:6-8?? Tell us your interpretation of that parable. |

Hooligan, plagiarist and now spammer Gombs: A Mystery To The Angels ·
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him but little lower than God, And crownest him with glory and honor (Psalm 8:4-5 ASV).
I’m ever so awed by the wisdom and greatness of our God. To think that He’d choose us—the new creation—to be His partners in executing His master-plan of salvation for the world beggars the imagination. The greatest of it all, which the angels themselves are amazed at, is that this great God of glory would call us into fellowship with Himself through the Holy Spirit, and give us the Holy Spirit to live in us. The angels haven’t got over that yet; they’re still seeking to understand its implication.
The angels of God are glorious beings; they know who they are: they’re mighty, and excellent in glory, but they’re amazed at what God has done for and with us, because as glorious as they are, God doesn’t live in them. However, as "unworthy" as we were, He gave us a new life and made us His living tabernacles. This is a mystery to the angels; they don’t understand the reason for this yet. And guess what! God chose us to explain it to them.
Every time we preach Jesus, and teach about the Holy Spirit, the angels listen. They love it! Because it’s something they only know about from the Scripture, but they don’t have the experience; they don’t know what it’s like; so they hear it from us. Read this beautiful verse: "To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God" (Ephesians 3:10).
This is the Apostle Paul writing to the Church; we’re the ones from whom the principalities and powers in heavenly places get to know the mysteries of God, and His multifaceted wisdom. The Bible lets us know that the angels would have given anything to be in on this (1 Peter 1:12), but we’ve been chosen to explain the mysteries to them. Since this is part of our responsibilities as God’s children, it means we must know the Word, live in the Word, and live out the Word, as the expression of the living Word.

Fig trees produce fruit at specific times because God made them thus. Did Jesus destroy this tree for creating it thus? Answer that question in the fewest words mbaemeka: Mark 11:12-14 MSG
As they left Bethany the next day, he was hungry. Off in the distance he saw a fig tree in full leaf. He came up to it expecting to find something for breakfast, but found nothing but fig leaves. (It wasn’t yet the season for figs.) He addressed the tree: “No one is going to eat fruit from you again—ever!” And his disciples overheard him.

Excellent counsel. Go and share with the pastor your dilemma. Usually, men have to be reminded of their (financial) obligations these are the most convenient to forget. Talk to any businessman, your creditors hound you 247 and you hound your debtors. They even have credit control function precisely for this. jdilight: I understand you, it can happen to anyone. I do own God some time, but I don't let even my closest friend know about it. Its love that should drive us to do something. The way you sounded was to me as if you wanted to just discredit the pastor. There is no gainsaying the fact that there are hungry pastors and fraudsters in the church, but we should always consider the result of dragging God's name to the mud in a bid to score a point or make our friends laugh.
Please next time try to keep your covenant with God or man personal. Also always take responsibility for your actions as a man. But try to be a man before taking the action so that the responsibility can be bearable. |

So Nigeria needs mbaemeka faith to fast track to first world? And the reason it hasn't is because he is Faith incarnate in a sea of negativity, invectives and so-called mixture? Smh We have a convenient explanation for EVERY conceivable scenario. Pray and recieve instantly? That's Harvest. Pray and it delays 5 years? That's your level of faith. Pray and don't recieve? You had no faith or others pulled you down with their 'negativity, invectives and so-called mixture'. That's godess mbaemeka's utopia; he has more excuses than results. In fact excuses are his staple and of course this is pearl that shouldn't be thrown to swine for they will trod it underfoot The reason The Trouble With Nigeria is as fresh as if it has just been penned is your escapist thinking and advanced PhD in excuses mbaemeka: Time didn't always exist! If you read the book of Genesis you would see when God created time. So God doesn't exist in time it is us humans that do. In God's mind there is no time. When a man asks God for A that was exactly when the man got it (but this is the truth that many like you are oblivious of). So the same man can wait till 5 years later and then say that was when God gave him the answer but that is untrue because God doesn't live in time. That's why Mr A can get a healing immediately and Mr B will wait for 5 years to get the same miracle.
Oh! If you could understand this you would know why that statement "Your miracle is on the way" is unnecessary. That miracle anyone desires can be instant but because of this wanton mixture of information many (even Christians) have subjected God to time and it is reflected in their prayers.
As per why the Bokoharam menace and what not haven't ceased since we began praying I have 2 things to say. The menace has stopped where I exist and I can only imagine what Nigeria will be like if other christians thought like me. In any case we are getting there. Secondly, with all the negativity, invectives and so-called mixtures concerning Nigeria it is not hard to see why we seem to be taking forward and backward steps. Moses faced the same issue with the children of Israel when they left Egypt. Moses will say A and they will ask for B. God will say 'say A' and the Israelites will be saying B that they learnt from Egypt. The bible says UNPERSUADABLENESS was their problem. It is the same with Nigerians today including some so-called Christians.
We would still be praying for them. |

So are you saying that Jesus was expecting figs in the tree in a no-figs season and he punished the fig for this? Bidam: Jesus does nothing except what the Father tells him to do. I believe the tree is symbolic representing anything that opposes, resists and does not flow with the timing and requirements of the kingdom of God at any point in time.
The mark account you quoted says it was not yet time for figs when Jesus made His incredible demand. Ofcos in the natural order it was not yet the time for productivity and birthing but in the Spirit there was a legitimate "now" demand from Jesus for fruit. That is why i agree with mbaemeka stance on active faith that is aggressive.
Sometimes the requirement of the Spirit is far ahead of the natural productivity on the earth.
The tree also represent human mentalities like yours that oppose the work of the Lord saying WOF is unscriptural and demonic. It can also represent even demonic strategies that resist the kingdom and insist there be no fruit, when already heaven has called on us for action, operations and kingdom advancing works in the earth.
Jesus had to neutralised it completely and encourages us to operate by the exact same principles he did in the situation, he even indicates that we can be more adventurous and SPEAK TO MOUNTAINS ALSO.

Walk with me and I will share right on. First, let's start with the verse(s) Mark 11: 12-14 (KJV) And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry: 13 And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. 14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.Mark 11:20-24 (KJV) And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. 21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. 22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have themJesus cursed the fig tree because it was fully green and as such he expected some fruits on it and moreso because it was not harvest time. He was disappointed and he cursed the barren tree. Was Jesus wrong in expecting fruit from the tree 'out of season'? This is a common mistake you WOF guys make. The phrase 'time of figs we not yet' means that no man had harvested the tree! But I hear you aksin how the owner would be expected to harvest before harvest time, right? Stick around for an explqnation Bidam: If i tell you now, it will enter another long endless debate which i don't wanna engage with you. Silly semantics. 1. Man decides WHEN to plant according to God-set seasons which rarely change so God sets seed-time 2. God sets harvest time IN the seeds There is sowing and there is sowing time. There is also harvest and there is harvest time. Man does BOTH sowing and harvesting and this for the Agrarian Palestine happened at specific times in the year over which man has little control. But somebody is busy out of a beautiful verse in Genesis inventing a wild doctrine where man sows wherever wherever and whenever but is guaranteed INSTANT harvest ( provided he has sufficient faith as one of your goddesses claimed), the time of sowing being seed time while there be no need for set harvest time as it happens whenever he 'faiths' it Isaac is propped as a shining example of this doctrine where there is actually no time you can't sow and reap since he sowed 'in famine'. This is why Isaac by all means MUST have sowed in famine and you won't be confused with facts by nobody Jesus too cursed a tree for not bearing fruit out of season is an event you use to show that ANY time can be harvest time So you can sow out of season and demand a harvest out of season....wonderful Bidam: God created seasons is different from God determines sowing of seeds. It is left for man to reason and determine it. Pls do take time to digest my posts before stating your conjectures, Thanks. |

This is wrong sir! The reason crops are planted differently is because of God-set seasons. If seed time was determined by man, then man would have randomly distributed sowing times throughout the year for ANY crop but as it were, man's choice over the matter is limited by God-set seasons and he would do well to follow these. It is only recently that technology such as green houses are overcoming this. Bidam: Crops are planted at different NOT the same times of the year. Are you the one to teach me biology again? why are you shifting the goal post na. You said seed time is not determined by man and i am telling you it's wrong.

Let's drop equivocation please. Sowing and reaping as taught or understood by Paul had everything to do with plants. I humbly request we stick to this before throwing the kitchen sink into the mess. Focus. Am the one who injected Genesis because I have heard it abused, and true enough, you,Gombs and mbaemeka fell for that hook, line, sinker and the raft You are somewhat scared of your beliefs or what you have been taught about Genesis and you'd rather stick to shadows. To you, absence of 'time' after harvest is a source of doctrine which you won't expound on. I have insisted that absence of 'time' in Genesis means NOTHING. am still waiting to dispute this. God has already set the harvest time in the seed sir! Man,through experience, knows exactly how long to the harvest. They don't wait indefinitely nor keep on checking whether there is a harvest. I repeat that it is God who gives increase, that is determines how much of the hrvest a farmer is to get. He blessed Isaac with a 100 times his investment whereas the norm was 30 to 60. Biblical symbols or analogies when stretched much can leave the logical and dive into error/heresy. I know a woman who killed her boy and her defense what Paul's exhortation to offer living sacrifices Bidam: Man can sow seeds anytime of the year taking into cognizance the climatic conditions. God sets the harvest time, i may agree with you that it may be predictable by man, let me also make another analogy of childbirth, doctors may know the expected date of delivery but not the Exact date of delivery. That is SET by God the Father, just as no one knows when the son of God will restore the kingdom to isreal but only the Father knows. We only know the season of the endtime but not the exact date. So also is harvest. Scripture records that can a nation be born in a day? For as soon as Zion travails she brought forth. We only apply Faith to the things of God, whether it is healing, finances, needs even salvation of souls, if it occurs now Glory to God, if it doesn't occur now, we water it with prayers and the Word of God until it becomes manifest by the SET time of God.Even Elijah had to be sure the seventh time by sending his servant when he was on his knees praying after there was no rain for 3 and a half yrs. |

1. That ONLY thing means a lot because famines are not mountains, they are temporal 2. Yes we never had verses until a few hundred years ago, but they envied his increase which is amplified to include servants, and flock. It says they envied him meaning the envy had a DEFINITE point before which they were not envying him. The envy started and grew as he increased. This increase covers flocks. In fact flocks are a better measure of wealth than agricultural produce but this is besides the point. If we were to compete in reading our hallucinations into the scriptures, you would beat me pants down. I give it to you. While there is a place and time for that, this ain't it Once again, where did you get the notion that Isaac sowed DURING famine? This is unwarranted inference no better but in fact way weaker than mine namely there was no famine when he sowed since it was many years since the famine of verse 1. Again where did you get the notion that the Philistines envied in the same year and this because of the famine? Are you insinuating that vine flock as well increased during the year? They could have been equally envious if Isaac's harvest was above average as secular history tells us that is if there was no famine but he still beat them. And recall he was a sojourner probably leasing their land. Xenophobia issues you can say that mbaemeka: 1. The bible says it was the same land. So the only thing that changed from vs 1-12 was the years past.
2. Vs12 was connected to Vs' 13 and 14. He became very great- in the same year- the Philistines envied. If not so, they should have sown in the same land like he was doing instead of envy him for his seemingly insurmountable success. |

My broda o You went ballistic when I talked of seed time and harvest time. You sought to make a mountain out of the 'missing' time in Genesis and I insist there is NOTHING to it. You pretended that seed time and harvest time are different from sowing and reaping. I even gave you a verse from Revelation showing that you were wrong. Have you revised your opinion on this? To answer your question about where Paul said that, 1 Cor 3:6- 8 (KJV) Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? 6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. 8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.Bidam: Don't be a scriptural misfit, does the Galatians 6:6-10 i quoted in my initial post to candour talks ministry? rememeber i told you previously that it is applicable in every realm of human activity in the earth, not only in finances. God does not set the harvest time any more than he sets seed time. And I told Gombs, you are fond of equivocation, jumping from the literal to the spiritual, symbol. Please before applying the symbol, can you try and comprehend it? You don't plant ANY time of the year else you risk losing everything. Yes it is true man decides whether to plant or not but they got a brain ( most not ALL of them) and they know WHEN to plant. Is this clear? The reason we have harvest and not harvest time IS NOT because God in Divine randomness decides when is harvest time, harvest is fairly predictable. What is not predictable is the returns on the investment. For each unit measure that you sow, how many measures do you get? It could be zero or a hundredfold. This is why Moses had Firstfruits, Freewill offerings and all Bidam: God sets the time for harvest, whether it is church planting, finances, etc. it may be now, it may be later, for example when Peter preached at Pentecost in acts 2 and 3000 were added to their number that day, it was the work of the Holy Spirit not the work of man. |

excellent submission. Now what you dread the most, thinking 1. What proof do you have that the famine persisted the many years since you are flagrantly presenting this as a fact? 2. What proof do you have that the Philistines envied him in the SAME year he received a bountiful harvest? Verse 13 (KJV) And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: 14 For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied himAnimals have a gestation period running into months, their multiplication however miraculous still obeys natural Laws. This means the increase in the flock necessarily implies Isaac's prosperity took more than one year oga mbaemeka: Candour,
You are right about Genesis 26 but I would show you a few discrepancies and by so doing maybe answer the questions directed at me.
1. Abraham and Isaac lived in Canaan as you said but Canaan was a very big region that encompassed Sidon to the north and then Gerar to the south. This region was governed by kings called Abimelechs.
2. When a famine arose in Canaan (as a whole) residents decided to migrate to Egypt. Abraham did so earlier on and Isaac wanted to follow suit in his time.
3. God stopped him while he was in Gerar (still south of Canaan) and God told him to remain in the land.
4. The land in question has to still be the same (whole land I.e Canaan or even still Gerar) and in any case the famine encompassed the whole region in Canaan.
5. The land in vs 1 of chapter 26 had to still be the land in vs 3 and had to still be in vs 12 as the writer made reference to 'that land' and in any case still it suggests that the famine still lingered.
6. The many years past as suggested by vs 8 was there to show that Isaacs lie that Rebecca was his sister didn't go unremembered by the King and his cronies. Years ago Isaac claimed the woman to be his sister but presently they saw him frolicking with her. That's why Abimelech asked him that question 'are you sure she's your sister?'. The many years doesn't mean the famine had stopped.
Summarily, Isaac wanted to head to Egypt to seek better pastures so as he drifted from the south of Canaan (Gerar) as though on his way to Egypt( the regions are close), God stopped him on his track and told him to remain in the land as he will be blessed there. Isaac obeyed and lived blessed despite the famine. Years later (and even in spite of the famine)he worked hard (by sowing) in the same barren land YET he reaped a large harvest in the same year that caused the Philistines to envy him ([their envy also alludes to the fact that they too sowed but didn't reap as he did)

IMPLIED. Paul's financial circumstances under Christ were worse than before. That's all Bidam: You should take time and study scriptures, pls. And read well what my post says without applying strawman.
Firstly i never ridiculed Paul's persecutions and sufferings those are your statements not mine.
Secondly you implied Paul was poor by you ridiculing about him not getting any "rewards" when he gave his time, money and priveledges for the gospel according to you.
The multiplicity of the 7 churches he planted, was it Paul's effort that multiplied it or God? Remember Paul planted the churches as seeds, what did God reward him with?
Even if he waived his rights to support did you NOT notice his doctrinal stand on GIVINGS he kept emphasing to the corinthians? Remember Paul dedicated a whole chapter 8 and 9 of 2 corinthians on christian generosity? Why would he do that since you said he doesn't want to burden the churches?
Moreso at the tail end of Paul's ministry he was a prisoner and wasn't working, if he gave all his money to the ministry, can you tell us where he got money to rent his OWN apartment for 2YEARS in rome doing nothing till he was to appear before nero in Acts 28:30? |

God of all Creation. He set the planets revolving around the sun and thereby created seasons Bidam: Good, now you are coming up to my scriptural level of reasoning, who set those natural laws in place? |

Puny brained goddess Mbaemeka, You have never recovered you shock discovery that Jesus kept the Law and advocated for the same BEFORE his death and resurrection? Gombs and his kid bro Bidam is yet to answer me on seed time. If it is determined by man, can you sow wheat or barley ANY time of the year? Now show me where it is written that Isaac sowed in famine and don't regurgitate Oyaks mbaemeka: Bro Gombs and Bidam. I am happy you saw him evading the questions that turned his illogicalities on its head. I told you he doesn't know scriptures yet he would be the first to speak. Very similar with the serial monicker changer. How any bible student could not tell that you were referring to Isaac just shows what we have to contend with.
As per the *coughs* others. Don't cast all your pearls to swine o! Not everyone will understand at the same pace. Jesus told his disciples repeatedly that he would resurrect but guess what they did on the 3rd day- they went to embalm his body.Which means they still expected him to be dead regardless of how many times he told them that he would raise his temple.
I assure you what is happening here is a foundation school. Many will go back to proof-read the contradictions they always held unto as truth. Also be wary about those who say "he was referring to Jews here, he was referring to accusers there" but when Jesus was teaching about tithes in Matthew 23 the same group will ignore that he started by saying "the Kingdom of Heaven is like" and then claim that he was under the law then. At the end of the day they will call you a thief for giving tithes and then use other gospel books to call you names, forgetting that when Jesus taught most of what he said, Jews, accusers and Pharisees were part of the same audience.
Very funny things I tell you. |
