PoliticsAmerica Down, Down & Down But Nigeria Is Equally in Soup by vwvw(op): 5:33pm On Sep 17, 2008
greedy and avaricious bankers have contributed in no small measure to the medieval circus the american economy has become. in Nigeria it is worse because stock brokers played 'kalo kalo' with investors funds; the danger is as the American economy winds up, Nigeria better be prepared for dreary times because several banks dumped our money with investment giants like AIG and Lehman brothers, all in the name of offshore banking. Soludo was right our foreign reserves ought to have been diversified from the ailing dollar before this crash.http://connectafrica.

We've seen this scenario play out before. joshua nkomo and robert mugabe and at the end what happened to nkomo, a frustrating period as VP of Zimbabwe; he died unceremoniously. this deal stinks to the high heavens, what does tsvangirai get for his struggles a demoralized police and cabinet ministers who owe their allegiance; 16 i see to the ZANU-PF. so folks how long would this diabolical chord hold, http://connectafrica.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Creates New Ministry For Niger Delta by vwvw(m): 5:28pm On Sep 11, 2008
Before the NDDC it was OMPADEC and presently DESOPADEC all set up with the aim of finding a lasting solution to the problem of the Niger-delta region. One cannot but wonder and ask questions like : will the responsibilities of the federal, state, and local government or even the commissions be given to the new ministry called the “ministry of the Niger-delta”.
Recently a 40 man technical committee was set up to look into the problems of the oil rich region. The big question however is isn’t the creation of this Ministry prejudiced knowing that steering committee hasn’t submitted its report. http://connectafrica.
PoliticsBefore The Talk Begins by vwvw(op): 6:17pm On Sep 09, 2008
10 days are required for the steering committee on the Niger Delta to prepare a blue print on how to solve the Niger delta crisis but the problems facing the region appear to be timeless. Almost immediately the committee commenced its work it was almost truncated when Ibrahim Gambari, Nigeria’s top diplomat was prevented from chairing the committee. Now with a new chairman, the first hurdle seems to have been bypassed but a recent comment by the most deadly insurgent group in the region; MEND, must not be treated with kid gloves if the Government intends to achieve any head way, http://connectafrica.
PoliticsYar Adua Pawns Kingibe: Then Ministers? by vwvw(op): 6:12pm On Sep 09, 2008
There will be no Part 4 on the piece ‘death wish for Nigeria’s President’ notwithstanding the macabre political comedy continues to play out. What better way for President Yar’Adua to announce that he is as fit as fiddle than resuming work with swearing-in new military chiefs and firing a bloody civilian for a never-to- be-made public reason. When this plot began, it was obvious there would always be a fall guy . Yesterday on local TV Nigerians watched a gaunt Nigerian leader move like an Ice-queen decorating Generals. It was apparent that he had more than traipsed the holy city of Mecca in the last fortnight. But why fire Baba Gana Kingiibe? The militants in the Niger Delta may have heaved a sigh and chorused gleefully, good riddance to bad …, But the baritone sounding ambassador had once been on the side of the progressives, http://connectafrica.
PoliticsRe: Kingibe Sacked by vwvw(m): 6:06pm On Sep 08, 2008
President Yar'Adua also sacked a high-ranking government official who had been linked with the rumours. Secretary to the Government of the Federation Baba Gana Kingibe was removed and replaced by former Defence Minister Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, it was announced by e-mail.
If he were to step down, or die, he must be replaced by Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan, who is from the country's southern Delta region. But according to the ruling People's Democratic Party's own formula for sharing power among the country's regions, the president must be a northerner, so really wants the president dead,

PoliticsRe: Chei ! ! Our Dear President is dead. by vwvw(m): 2:05pm On Sep 01, 2008
No hecklers at the newsstands, no apocalyptic political analysts on local Nigerian TV stations, even the insipid commercial motor cyclist who rode me to work could only offer a slight chuckle at the prospects of President Umar Yar’Adua dead. Now if you are not Nigerian you may have to forgive my morbid humour in trying to figure out the public’s response to the rumoured death of president yar’adua. This is the second time in a little over a year that president Yar’adua has died and we aren’t closer to the truth on the president’s state of health, unlike the former there is no president Olusegun Obasanjo to play hell’s angel and advocate, apologies to he’s asking ‘Umaru’ if he was alive last year when the media had been rife that the president had suddenly taken ill and died. One year on and the media is asking the same question.http://connectafrica.

SportsRe: Nigeria (0) - Argentina (1) In 2008 Olympics Final by vwvw(m): 12:02pm On Aug 22, 2008
Surprisingly Nigeria has an infamous reputation worldwide for its advance fee fraud records, but Argentina's pecadiloes however eclipses Nigeria when it comes to the beautiful game. Nigerians still seethe with anger when they remember Diego Maradona at the 1994 world cup and Lionel Messi more recently at the WYC in 2005, twice both men conned their way to help the Argies with dubious wins. Every encounter between both nations has always left a sour taste surprisingly even for the argies; they still claim Emmanuel Amuneke’s winning goal in the 1996 Olympic finals was offside, http://connectafrica.

‘3-1, nothing more that would be final score, the gold belongs to Nigeria’ a loud-mouthed bus conductor roared some hours after Nigeria had annihilated Belgium by four goals to one. ‘Why are you afraid of Argentina, we are as good as gold, Argentina had its time two years ago now is our time’ a female passenger two seats away from me boisterously announced. She was replying to chicken hearted men like me and a number of other travelers who were apprehensive of Saturday’s epic clash. One of the men quickly repented and asked that we all embarked on a vigil, however not a few laughed, http://connectafrica.
