PhonesRe: Why You Shouldn't Own A Smart Phone by walcolm(m): 10:49am On Jul 16, 2012
puskin: In this day and age when it seems like almost every week there is another “latest and greatest” technology gadget put out on the market, it can be enticing to jump in and pick one up for yourself.
I have serious doubts that everyone who owns a smart fone is really getting their money’s worth.

Below are some of the reasons why you simply shouldn’t purchase a smartphone:-

1) They’re Expensive with Ongoing Costs
Any way you look at it, these mobile devices are expensive.

2) Do You Really Need That Much Technology in Your Life?
I have a PC at home that I can access at any time, and I own a laptop that I can take with me if I need to. I have up-to-the-minute sports scores on my DSTV, as well as up-to-the minute news reports. To be honest with you, I have all the technology that I currently need in my life. I simply do not need the Internet in my pocket 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Do you?

3) Not as Convenient as You May Think
In my opinion, smartphones really aren’t as convenient as you might imagine. No matter what connectivity speed you have, pages load relatively slowly on smartphones, and navigating them is more a nuisance than anything else.

4) You Could Have a Misperceived Need
Majority of people who have smartphones think they are a necessity, when in fact they are not.
Twenty years ago, most of us didn’t even have cell phones, and eight years ago, I doubt any of us had smartphones. It then stands to reason that if you made it that far in life without a smartphone, there’s a good chance that it is not a true necessity in your current life.

5) They are replacing human-to-human interaction
You can hardly see individuals (youths especially) looking themselves in the eye and having a mutual decent conversation.
why do u have a PC at home...20yrs ago you didn't have a PC...so if you made it that far in your life, why bother with a PC and internet....maybe you don't need your PC and internet connection which you used in creating this post

PhonesRe: My Glocomonth Bis Keeps Dropping Back To Gsm Instead Of Edge by walcolm(m): 6:29am On Jul 13, 2012
ayolinger: I use a BB 8520 and I recently switched to Glo from MTN; But my Network Status keeps dropping back to GSM instead of the Normal EDGE and this makes me experience some interruption in my browsing and i have complained to Glo CC but all i got is my complain has been forwarded and will be resolved in the next 48hrs; don't know if anyone is experiencing the same thing although this is my first time of using Glo for BIS!; and if there is an alternative solution rather than me waiting for Glo CC that i feel are confused when i put the problem to them, Please don't hesitate to share abeg!.
maybe you should upgrade your BB operating system to a more recent version..that will resolve any issues you are having

GLO BIS is definitely not the problem because there are millions of people using it all over and not having that problem
NYSCRe: FG Overrules NYSC On Posting To Troubled States by walcolm(m): 12:25pm On Jul 11, 2012
maclatunji: You people don't get it, Nigeria is on the verge of becoming a failed state. If Corp members cannot be posted to any part of this country, then the government has failed. Now, I agree that people should not be posted to crisis-ridden states. However, instead of corp members and their families selfishly seeking to "escape" those states, we must ask the question, what about people living in these troubled states? Don't they deserve to live a normal life? Away from looking out for "our own." What pressure have we put on the Federal Government to secure these people's lives and property.

People like me say this every week on Nairaland and elsewhere, we get labelled "enemies of GEJ". You should put the same pressure and energy that you have put into protesting posting of corp members to troubled states into pushing the government to actively and efficiently protect the lives of all Nigerians irrespective of where they live.

Anything short of this is selfishness and hypocrisy and you should be ashamed of yourself on that account.
so to save those living in those states, we should selflessly send more people into harms way? i dont think your logic is very sound...one of the ways to put pressure on the FG is to prevent corpers from going to those states and the attendant PR implication will help motivate the govt to do something about the situation in those states

there's absolutely nothing selfish about not wanting to put yourself in harms way, its self preservation and its an innate quality that supersedes altruism

mashnino: Hello guys,

I am thinking of buying a new android device (samsung galaxy s3) i am a new android user actually so please tell me what to watch out for and what i should as soon as i switch on the phone cos i heard the thing can fit to suck all the credit away in a second(due to some updating stuff). so please how can i jump away from dis scenario and again can i use black berry subscription for it(i am using mtn). Thanks. will be waiting for a reply
i have the GS3 and its my first android too. it is the best android device out there for now and a worthy introduction to the android world.

50MB of data will not even scratch it and it uses micro-sim. i bought mine outside the country but i hear SLOT in lagos will help u cut your normal sim into mirco-sim size to fit into the GS3. 1GB of data as a minimum if you are not a heavy user is your best bet
PhonesRe: Instagram by walcolm(m): 10:47am On Jul 10, 2012
Chizolum: Instagram is not a photo editing app. It's a social network.
brianromel: correction, instagram is a phone app with a social media attached to it. Seen it used on iphone and used it myself on android. As i said, still cant see the hype.
the attachment removes any guess or off the cuff definition
