Salary issues aside,

I have taken time to analyse the upcoming 2019 Gubernatorial Elections In Rivers and I came to the following postulations,

1- Gov Wike doesn't have the security Agencies to back him up as it was in 2015.

2- Gov Wike doesn't have federal might like it was in 2015 when The presidents wife stood for him.
3- Gov Wike Isn't carrying the state citizens along in terms of people knowing what's in the budget.
4- Gov Wike will have issues with sacked Time Riv workers voting for him.
5- RSSDS workers owed for three years and families whose children's scholarships were withdrawn will have issues voting for him
6- Pensioners will have issues voting for him due to non payment over three years.
7-Civil Servants which I am among them without promotion, being owed arrears, even those promoted still earn same thing with arbitrary deductions in salaries with frequent cum endless biometrics will have issues voting for him.
8-Sacked Ken saro wiwa polytechnic lecturers bori, will have issues voting for him.
9- The various LGA moribund fish farm workers and banana plantation will have issues voting for him.
10-Taxi & Keke drivers who pay different high levies will have issue voting for him. Even the Obio akpor boys who collect levies and seize peoples cars and goods will make his goodwill to reduce and they may have issues voting for him.

In conclusion, its not going to be easy for him to win like it was in 2015 which was a walk over.
. But Wike has God and the people. He has impacted on the people's life by the numerous projects he has executed and is still executing.

Minimum wage : FG gets 14-day ultimatum
ON September 13, 2018 2:07 AM / IN
Headlines , News / Comments
By Victor Ahiuma-Young
•Industrial peace cannot be guaranteed thereafter — NLC, TUC, ULC
•FG keeps mum
LAGOS —Organised Labour in Nigeria, yesterday, handed down a 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to ensure completion of works on the new national minimum wage or risk unprecedented industrial unrest in the country.
minimum wage
At a joint briefing in Lagos, leaders of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, and United Labour Congress, ULC, warned that at the expiration of the ultimatum, they could no longer guarantee industrial peace in the country.
Efforts to reach the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, last night, proved futile as he neither replied calls put through his known mobile phone lines nor the text messages sent to the lines.
The Director of Press, Ministry of Labour and Emplotment, Mr. Samuel Olowoekere, also failed to respond to calls made to his phone lines.
They accused the federal government, particularly the Minister of Labour and Employment, of frustrating and delaying the process of arriving at a new minimum wage workers had been expecting since 2015.
The labour leaders in a statement signed by President of NLC, Ayuba Wabba, lamented that the tripartite committee set up by government had yet to finish its job, having failed to agree on a figure, following government’s refusal to present any.
He argued that, while the committee had concluded its deliberations, the Minister of Labour, Senator Chris Ngige, told the committee that the federal government needed to consult more before coming up with its own figure.
According to him, this negates the earlier agreement to work within its timeline.
The Labour statement
The statement read: “This press conference is made inevitable by the latest provocative statement by the Minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngige, who said a few days ago that the committee should adjourn indefinitely to enable him do further consultations with the government.
‘’His pronouncement came at a time the committee was finalizing its work of arriving at a definite figure for submission to government.
“We view his latest pronouncement with great concern, suspicion and outrage. This new antic certainly is not acceptable to Nigerian workers who had expected a new national minimum wage since 2016 but who out of uncommon sacrifice and patriotism, hearkened to government’s appeal and the process was delayed.
“You may wish to recall that the National Minimum Wage Committee was inaugurated in November 2017 but commenced work in March 2018 with timelines to deliver on its mandate of arriving at a new national minimum wage in August/September 2018.
“In the course of the work of the committee, members had the ample time to consult. In any case, the committee was satisfied that it received memoranda and inputs from 21 state governments, specialized agencies of the Federal Government, the Organized Private Sector, Organised Labour and the general public.
“We even recall that Dr. Ngige himself had assured workers during the 40th anniversary celebration of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, in February this year that workers should expect a new national minimum wage in September this year.
‘’We wonder what has gone amiss between February 28 and now. Or do we assume that the Minister is acting a script?
“In the light of this, his pronouncement is capable of rubbishing the work of the committee as well as raising serious concerns about the readiness of the government to accede to the putting together of a new national minimum wage.
‘’Beyond this, the Minister’s pronouncement has generated considerable tension among workers and provoked sharp reactions from the unions which justifiably argue that the government is only out to waste the time of workers and is not prepared to pay a new national minimum wage.
Need for new minimum wage
“For the sake of emphasis, the national minimum wage was not only legally due about two years ago, the increase in the pump price of petroleum products by this administration with fundamental consequential effects on the citizenry, the increase in electricity tariff, the massive devaluation of the Naira, leading to a punitive exchange rate, and hyper-inflation, all of which led to a rising cost of living for workers and other Nigerians, made a new national minimum wage not only necessary but urgent.
“Similarly, we are saddened to note that the recommendations of the Technical Committee on Minimum Wage and Palliatives, chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, which was mandated to fashion out mitigatory strategy, policies, and programmes to cushion the vagaries of the increase in the pump price of petroleum products, have not been implemented to date.
“The present posturing of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, who functioned as Acting Chairman of that committee brings back painful memories of precious time wasted, energies dissipated and hopes betrayed.
‘’Coupled with this, the Minister’s latest pronouncement goes to cast further doubt on the integrity of the government as well as underscores the inherent danger in doing business with government.
“In view of the foregoing, we demand that government does all that is necessary to ensure that the Tripartite Committee is allowed to conclude its work within 14 days from today.
‘’We would want to use this opportunity to let the government and the whole world know that in the event that this demand is not met, we will not guarantee continued industrial peace and harmony.”

With d threat of voting in or out flying here n there, I humbly advice we should be careful we down land from frying pan to fire. In my opinion, Wike is not d best but is better than others. He has no better alternative yet. While u are thinking of "voting out" due to non promotion, another person may be thinking of voting in for d job opportunity created. First let's understand that things isn't all that easy for d state financially. Secondly let's note the fact that d state has so much demand befallen it ranging from Workers to Community based n much more. Thirdly let's encourage d good works of Wike as we constructively n unitedly demand for more. Any rational governor facing an election with limited resources will surely opt to employ more rather than promote because by employing, u gain more votes from a household. it's better to be prompt n up to date with salary payment than having d reverse when u promote. Wike promised promotion, employment n interest free loan n I belive with passion n zeal i see in Wike on assumption of office, he will do what he has promised when permitted by available resources.

He also stated that youths will take more than 70percent of the 10,000 and 4000 non-academic staff to be employed by his administration.
EventsRe: Yoruba Bride Avoids Kneeling Down For Her Husband At Their Traditional Marriage by waliezi(m): 7:27pm On Aug 24, 2018
IamHeWrites:
A Nigerian woman based in Toronto has told of how she challenged cultural norms by choosing not to kneel down for her husband during her traditional marriage, and that Nigerian men are mad about it.

The gorgeous Yoruba bride said she and her husband spoke to the coordinators (Alagas) ahead of the wedding and asked that they do not ask her to kneel for her husband. The wedding day came and it was the way the bride and groom wanted it. There was no mention of submission and she didn't have to kneel.

She said her sister also took a stand at her own wedding which took place earlier this week.

After she shared her story, some women who did the same thing came to share theirs. A few Nigerian men applauded her for challenging the status quo. But the majority of Nigerian men were angry and called her out. Some even insulted her husband for supporting her.

See reactions below;

. Then your sure not to have a complete traditional wedding. What you had is called arrengy. It's not about pride, ego or gender embalace. it's culture n it comes with it's spiritual implications vis a vis blessing. I'm sorry u missed it.

Why do you always come up here to defend the Governor for what you should know that it is impossible for the Governor to employ 14,000 person withing a month.
I don't know what he has given you people to eat that has poisoned your mindset toward one particular direction without making any analysis.
This same Governor who find it difficult to payroll more than 2,000 pensioners since 2015.
This same Governor who have refused to implement the promotion of teachers.
This same Governor who have refused give out just 5,000 naira as Christmas bonus to civil servants of the state.
This same Governor who always complain of the increase in wage bill of the state thereby bombarding workers with Biometric upon Biometric exercise.
This same Governor who sacked over 300 staff of UST demonstration secondary school without reinstating them till today.
Do you still expect the Governor to sincerely employ 14,000 teachers and non teaching staff?
I did not say he will not employ at all, but it will not be up to 1,000.
May be 1,000 will be = 14,000.
Let's just watch out.
. You should commend the government for the steps taken while you ask for more. It is wrong to outrightly discredit a process of employment which has not even begone. The pronouncement has been made n it's not in your place to talk ill of it at this stage if u aren't bias already. Mind u d eployment of 14,000 more workers is only going to add about one billion to the wage bill n d income accrueing to d state is not static in d negative. If u are very observant lately, u should have known that there is great improvement in our income both internally generated n from FAAC 4 d past few months. I think this not too much 4 d government to do? Common let's be reasonable n support d government to do what it has pronounced. U outlined d failure of d government to effect promotions n other things but u fail to acknowledge the good works of the government; clearing of huge debt inherited from previous government, interest free loan to workers, massive infrastructural development, training n re-training of teachers, creation of jobs n so much others. Yes Wike remain the best but still has more to do. He should employ d 14,000 workers n effect our promotion. All men of good conscience ought to commend government's effort at creating more jobs. Why e dey pain some persons here say Wike wan employ more workers? U were quick to attact me because of ur obsession to see Wike pulled down else u would have noticed carefully d point I have been trying to make. How can some one claim that the job offer for 14k persons is a scam when d government has made her position very clear. www.rivjobs.ng is not 4 any specific job offer but it's a government sponsored website to create a data base for job seekers, train them n link job seekers to potential employers. It's very obvious on the website if u visit it with open mind. Only d bias persons will see otherwise.

How many of you believed that Gov. Wike will employ 10,000. teachers + 4,000. non teaching staff when he find it very difficult to promote teachers who have worked for over 10 years and 5 years.
.
If at all they will employ, it will not be more than 500 teachers and non teachers.
.
Remember, about #45,000. minimum wage is on the way coming for him to implement compulsorily which will eventually increase the wage bill of the state.
They should not deceive us ooo.
. if u are not bias or rather if u don't have ur sense of judgement be clouded by sentiment, or frustration, u will attest to the fact that Wike has never pronounced what he can't do. U should also know that no sensible government will deceive her people at this wee hour of going an election.

Remember Ameachi's last statement before leaving office; "I will see were he will get money to pay salaries". This alone will tell you that Ameachi never meant well for you n me. If for nothing, I thank God for Wike's ability to be upto date in payment of monthly salaries since the inception of his administration n also his ability to deliver much in physical infrastructure.
