bionixs: Senseless Tacha. You have the right to call out the leadership of any state you live and pay your tax.
When it is time to collect his tax, you wont tell anyone to go to their state. I went to Idioro, Mushin yesterday, the mountains of stinking thrash in the middle of the busy road, was quite disturbing oooo. It has been there for months. Yet the enthusiasm with which all manner of tax and state backed extortion was going on same road is choking
Before you open your stinking mouth to defend thrash here, first visit that location this morning.
I would say that 90% of Lagos street and major link roads are shamefully terrible, going by how much revenue this state make daily Your right comes with a caveat - you should criticize responsibly and objectively. Do you pay your waste management bill? Did the Lagos State government drop the waste and refuse at that location in Idioro or your street in Lagos? Is it not human beings like you that reside in your street and every other streets in Lagos that turned those spots into refuse dump sites and yet don't pay for waste management? |

2billion naira will buy you an amazing duplex in most highbrow cities in the US, UK, Switzerland, France, etc, now tell me can you compare any of the aforementioned countries cities with any city in Nigeria?
We are the reason our politicians are misbehaving and misleading this country.
The critic never said his state of origin is better than Lagos, he only said nothing but the truth that our properties are overpriced.
Every criticism of the government must be viewed with tribalism glasses No one forced you to buy properties in Lagos. If you don't like Lagos, invest your funds in properties or assets outside Lagos or better still, in your home state. |

Ofunaofu: The DSS is not Tinubu’s PR team or his personal legal counsel. Their job is to protect national security, not the image of one man especially a man who, as you admitted, would need to be investigated with evidence before any action is taken. But Sowore didn’t arrest Tinubu, he spoke via a post on his social media handle. And in a democracy, speech is not a crime just because it makes the president uncomfortable. If Tinubu feels defamed, the courts are open let him sue, like every other citizen.
Weaponizing state security to intimidate critics is not strength, it’s weakness and calling it 'proactive' is just a fancy way of excusing authoritarianism. When you boldly and publicly call a President a criminal, you should be able to prove it beyond reasonable doubt. The best place for Sowore to prove it is in a competent ccourt of law. DSS just offered him that opportunity to prove it so he should be bold enough to do that. This is not weaponization of DSS; it is accountability on the part of the accuser. I am not holding brief for the president, I just want us to be careful with our utterances. |

Politics › Re: ADC Demands Natasha’s Immediate Reinstatement by Wallade(m): 11:24am On Sep 11, 2025 |
Ofunaofu: That is very flawed . First, let’s get the facts straight: Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension was imposed by the Senate, not a court of law, and that suspension has already lapsed. There is no legal basis for her continued exclusion from the chamber. Period.
Now, to this your your "she was asked to apologize" claim, apologies don’t override constitutional rights or due process. This isn’t a monarchy where personal pride trumps law; it's a democracy. You don’t silence an elected senator and by extension, her constituents over ego.
If Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan made accusations against Akpabio, the proper path is due legal process, not political punishment disguised as procedure. And let’s not pretend the justice system moves swiftly or without influence especially when high-ranking politicians are involved.
Finally, let’s not ignore the bigger issue. Just as it was highlighted by the ADC National publicity secretary, Mallam Bolaji, only 4 women out of 109 senators, and one is being politically sidelined for refusing to bow to power. That’s not just stubbornness, it’s courage. What’s really stubborn is the refusal of certain power blocs to let democracy work unless it serves their ego. I read sentiments all through your position. The Senate decided to suspend Natasha Apoti but she took the matter to court. The court advised the Senate to lift her suspension and gave some instructed Natasha to apologize for her provocative purported apology on Facebook within 2 weeks. Natasha refused and challenged the entire judgement in court. The Senate President also challenged the judgement in court. These actions escalated the matter to the Court of Appeal. Hence, status quo is expected to be maintained pending the decision of the Court of Appeal. That is the legal basis for the continued suspension. However, you need to be reminded that the decision of the Senate to lift the suspension of Natasha Apoti in the Senate is dependent on her proper and firmal apology to the Senate for her misconduct, she hasn't done that till date, instead she has been trying to disparage and embarrass the Senate of the FRN. It is not the fault of the Senate that Justice process is slow. Natasha Apoti was never sidelined for refusing to bow to power. She violated the rules of the Senate and must account for her actions, she must take responsibility for her actions and be punished accordingly. The essence of punishment is to get the recipient to understand the offence and ultimately to make the recipient willingly understand the need not to repeat that offence again. The behavior of Natasha Apoti doesn't show that she learnt any lesson from the the incidents, she feels she is being victimized, sexually harassed, targeted or bruised by power unjustly. That is Natasha Apoti deflecting from the real lessons and essence of the punishment. She could have just taken the punishment in good faith, apologized for the misbehaviors and assumed her responsibility like a responsible, honorable and sane human. |

Do you expect the Dangote Truckers to actively show to Dangote Petroleum that they want the NUPENG union membership? Don't you know that the management of Dangote Petroleum will start targeting every trucker that actively show interest in joining the union. That is why they will stay silent on the surface but actively pushing to join NUPENG in the background. They will leave it to NUPENG to compel Dangote Petroleum to allow them join the union. |

frog12: na him private business you can't have the cake and eat it big lesson to all those marketers. Oga, NUPENG is not for marketers. NUPENG is an association; it is a union of workers in the petroleum industry in Nigeria. NUPENG is backed and established by law and no company or organization can legally stop their staff from joining such organization, provided the staff wish to join. There are lots of advantages for the staff to join the Unions than to be excluded. Dangote Petroleum is not the only private organization operating in the petroleum industry that the staff will want to join NUPENG. |

Softmirror: Unionism as how?! Dangote should hold his ground firmly! While NUPENG should reflect on their past mischieves. Why should Dangote Petroleum prevent staff from joining their respective unions? The staff are free to join unions and that is the norm in the petroleum industry. The Union is a pressure group that has it's own advantage and protects staff interest across companies in the industry. |

Dogalmighty17: NUPENG must not be allowed to blackmail and threaten the government and the economy. Dangote refinery is a private entity and reserves the right to enforce internal conditions as it deems fit.
The only organisation that may even be considered to have a say here is the Petroleum and Tanker Drivers Association of Nigeria and they have told their members to ignore NUPENG and the strike.
NUPENG wants to force unionisation in a private refinery and by so doing will want to dictate to Dangote how to relate with drivers under its employ. That is a no-no. Did NUPENG go after Greenfield gas? Has NUPENG gone after Nigerian breweries, coca cola or Guinness? Does NUPENG dictate to any of these companies that they must enforce unionisation of their drivers? Why is NUPENG insisting that Dangote drivers must unionise?
Dangote has thousands of truck drivers in his sugar, salt, flour and cement companies. Why did NUPENG not bring up the issue of their unionisation all this while? Is it because NUPENG has read the hand writing on the wall and knows that Dangote is about to render them irrelevant? Dangote should call thier bluff.
NUPENG didn't down tools to force government to fix the terrible roads the unions drivers have been forced to use all these years. NUPENG kept looking the other way as hundreds of its drivers lost their lives in the course of delivering products across the country. Now NUPENG claims to have found its voice? Dangote should crush them. NUPENG has held Nigerians hostage for too long. Do you want to blame NUPENG on this development? Do you understand unionism? |

I don't think the 5% petroleum tax is necessary since subsidy was removed on petroleum products.
The economic situation of the country and cost of living compared to the Personal income of the various households also suggests no need for the 5% petroleum tax. |
