KPhantom: Hello please I need help. I went to an approved testing centre(Mikon institute in Benin) to make inquiries about SAT registration, and I was told that the registration plus study materials plus tutorials is N105k.. I shock.. i simply told them to give me the price for just the registration, i was told N55,500.I tried to tell them that the reg fee on the college board website is $45 without eassy+$35 add ons for non US residents, bringing the total cost for registration to $80 which is N28k In naira (N350/$), I even asked them if I can just register by myself online and choose their institute as my testing centre(it's the only approved centre in Benin) but they told me that it's not possible. That I must go through them. please i'll appreciate advice thanks. Forget those people, go to college board website and register the test yourself with paypal or your naira debit card, but the exchange might not be $350 since its not stable but after making the payment you will know how much your bank charged you. Also you dont need to go through them before writing the exam in their centre, don't let them deceive you.. It is possible to do it online yourself now and not like before because registration method has changed.. |

benjijosh: Am a 400lvl student in a federal university studying Mathematics here in Nigeria, I am so mean to have my M.Sc in computer science from a reputable university in The United States. Have been hearing and reading a lot of issues about denial of Visa here on NL so i would like if someone could guide me through on how to start processing. I am the last of the 4children in my family, my dad is a retired civil servant (retired Feb. 15) , I have two brothers and one sister, My eldest brother is a civil servant and also own a Business(printing on polythene) and I think he is financially OK, the other one is self-employed. My sister is a teacher in a secondary school. I would love to know the minimum amount for tuition fee and living expenses in any reputable university over there(my dad is retired and yet to receive is gratitude/pension but from the little he saved he can still give 4million Max and my brother can still support with 2million max) i can still afford to pay for my flight and visa and for my exam any exam i must take(profiency in English). The only related person i have there is the sister of my sister's husband. what are steps needed to start processing??
what are the chances of me given visa?
do you think the fund at hand now is enough to see me through for my stay?
is there anyway the govt. there could finance me and i work for them after my studies?
do you know of anu individual/organisation/ company that is capable of financing me and i work for them after my studies?
do you think am being too ambitious, maybe i should just forget studying there?
or US isn't the place for me mayb i should set for Europe(where in Europe)??
Between is there any scholarship for my kind(an first class student currently on 4.63/5.0 scale)
Thanks in anticipation. I will advise and suggest that you stick to thread like bread and butter in order for you to learn more and start reading from part 3 till recent part and focus on your final year first and make sure you get the first class and it will help you to go for Ph.D directly in some schools in US that match you profile. Also during your nysc year you can start searching for schools that suit your taste with the amount that you mentioned above, then write GRE and Toefl but make sure you have good scores because it will help you during funding or scholarship application also with a good statement of purpose as well. If you get good grades in those test and good Gpa, you will end up getting a full ride scholarship and you won't spend much for either your Msc or Ph.D Lastly some schools will ask you to evaluate your university transcript and make sure you get ready to do that too.. Wishing you all the best |

I may use my secondary maths text to prepare for the math section, and the TOEFL materials you sent me to prepare for the English section. You can buy the latest SAT materials Barron to be precise at Ojuelegba or yaba |

LagosismyHome: Thanks. ....got ya. As for the bold i am not a believer ooo of its benefits .....but if u guys say so i hear ...lol Lol... If what you are thinking is about performance that's not the health benefits I am talking about. It goes beyond that and while we are small and young then, majority of the parents gives it to their children since children love taking sugary things, I hope you remember the consequence of it and that is the health benefits am relating the previous post to. |

tomisinobbm: Its not advisable they use that. I really don't know the content of the new SAT, but let's avoid stories that touch so it's better they are aware. It is still the same syllabus either old or new SAT. College board just redefined the test, before applicants register and the test officially comprises 3 sections (essay, critical reading and mathematics) but now applicant register and the test officially comprises 2 sections (critical reading and mathematics) while essay is optional and when applicant pick essay applicant will pay for it. The only difference I noticed few days ago was that college board didn't make eassy section compulsory for the new SAT, it is the applicant that will personally request for the essay section during registration and then pay for it and which makes it higher than the new SAT Another good news I discovered there is that applicant can register for this new SAT by themselves without going through Gieva anymore.. |

LagosismyHome: Although the answer no dey for me. I am confused by what u wrote. .....u said soak it when u get to Obama land. Do u mean soak after u leave the airport
Also i think Ekofisk just mentioned something about soak it in water although didn't mention at some point. ... i guess also maybe because i am not clear in what form it comes in . Sure after leaving airport and the person settled down. Most people I have seen usually take it to Obamaland without soaking it inside water even someone that left to Texas last week Wednesday his cousin told him and warned him not to soak it inside water because it will be siezed at Poe. Since some people claimed and said that they soaked it and they didn't sieze it from them, I assume that the officers who usually siezed the ones soaked inside water usually take it home and drink it for their own health benefits if I am not wrong. |
