slimmy05: You know we Nigerians are mostly copy and paste which they regard here as academic theft (criminal offense). They love originality, not Nigeria where you have to write down every lecturers speech including his accent just to scale through. You are right and it's because our lecturers want us to give it back to them verbatim if we want to have an A in the(ir) course |

tanzii: @walspring & co, Men thanks guys for the tips, the questions centered on what you guys "tipped". A 30 minutes interview came down to 10 mins, the Prof over hear my phonetics, come dey ask me if i school for U.K with the mix of my nigerian and british accent, loolz, i politely said no, and told him i have been speaking this English since the age of three. i swear the school don give me wahala taya. i have applied to 3 schools already and they all gave me admission, just looking at my documents... U of H, Tulane, New Orleans and University of tulsa, but this Oklahoma people dey worry. hopefully, the Letter go come this week, However the man noted something important which i wanna share with you guys, he said that 20 % of the students in their College of law over the years have been NIgerians. From his interaction with them, he has discovered that their spoken English is always good but when it comes to written English, they always struggle (Maybe due to time allotted in exams and tests etc.) This issue he noted translates to poor grades. (maybe the reason most schools insist on English Proficiency) Maybe we guys going over there to study should watch our written English. Let's give the thanks to God #Teamspring |

tanzii: So my school decided to organize a skype interview for me tomorrow, to test my knowledge and proficiency in English. has anyone here had this kind of interview before? just wondering what the director of admissions will be asking. any tips guys? Expect general question, am sure s/he want to see and observe your level of communication in English either verbal or speaking aspect, if you can also understand him/her during the interview and so on and I think you will access generally and get ready to talk about yourself, why the school, why the course and your profile. |

slimmy05: Private school gives annoying scholarship. A friends niece got scholarship to Ferrum college and she still pays close to $30,000. Where the hell is the scholarship. Well 50% is not a bad idea. In as much as its a scholarship and the rest of the payment is reasonable. You are right about the annoying scholarship that some private schools gives out to student, I saw a school total fee is 49k but the school is giving out 18k which is 36% or 36.5% |

Wfmopraiz: Hello good people, is it possible to change a B1-B2 visa status to F1 visa? If that can't be possible what's the cost of getting an F1 visa, and I'll like to know more about the TOEFL exams, basically I was planning to visit the states sometimes in December, but elder sister who is in Wyoming told me I should try and come through study, she said I should apply for the TOEFL exams, I should make enquiry about the F1 visa. she's going to handle the admission and other stuffs needed. What's the different between the GRE and TOEFL? I'll be glad to get a response from you as soon as possible. Thanks If you currently have visiting visa and you have been to USA and return back then you can apply for F1 and it will be easy for you and no much stress but if you have visiting visa and you went to stay in USA and planning to convert it to F1 visa the chance is like 50/50 and it might take longer time than expected because of this and that. I hope your sister won't process 2 years community college admission for you, it better to apply for a 4 years university and write the toefl so that you will have upper chance.. toefl is used to check applicant level of communication in English, expression as well etc, both undergraduate and graduate applicants usually write it to get admission of the school ask for it but GRE is mainly for graduate students |
