Scholastica16: Cynic alert!
I have a feeling you want the exchange rate to keep getting bad. Perhaps, you benefit from round-tripping it. This is most certainly the reason even good policies fail in Nigeria- because someone somewhere is devising means to circumvent it.
I saw a subsequent post where you stated you are an ex-banker. If that is true, you should know that the FG had been pumping in FX (as much as they could) but the exchange rate kept getting worse because they prioritized manufacturers who in turn were re-selling said FX back through the BMs in order to make outrageous profits.
Well, the CBN Governor has changed methods and now FX is released to benefit school tuitions and PTA amongst other school related things so I am optimistic it will work and LAST. One reason I feel so is because the FX for the tuition will not be handed to the customer but will be wired directly to the respective schools who will have a hard time re-wiring money to the customer (if they wanted to be disingenuous) seeing that they could face money-laundering crimes in their country. This has been in place ever since pdp era and it was stopped for no go reason.. A guy came here and posted how he make money using form A, bank will send the money to his school account as his school fee but he got excess dollar via form A and his school send the balance to his US account and he will send the balance to exchange at BM to make cool cash.. Can't we see that we have so many problem in the nation called Nigeria |

LagosismyHome: Definitely watching CBN with side eyes. In a week it will be back to status quo........as in you go to banks and they continue to hoard the dollar due to demand/supply taking it back to square one or where it was last week....
anyway let enjoy the high naira , things have gotten way too expensive in Nigeria so this is good news Don't watch them because they are fooling themselves because they have already shared the $500m among themselves ( Business as usual) |

signature2012: Yeah.Let the $500m CBN pump into the system finish, then watch next what will happen. Those who pumped it will re-pump another one... Don't mind useless set of people called themselves FG and CBN.. |

ImpeccableOne: Lol. You know, I read your posts then last year when MMM was reigning. You were so confident in the scheme and were ready to defend it as though you owned the company. You have a good sense of humor to be talking cheerfully about the defunct scheme. Anyway, I'm not sure it has packed up, could you confirm to me? I have family that invested in the scheme (over a million Naira), and when they told me about how sustainable it was last year, and how they wished they had joined the scheme from day one, I immediately told them to tread with caution. After a few hours of research, I told them to start taking their funds out of the scheme ASAP because of one simple fault - there was no one you could hold accountable when all fails. Today, I don't even have the heart to ask them if they were able to recover their funds. Yes it's still work but not as it was last year and it has never packed up but fear of unknown is making some people not to participate again just as you impact the same fear to your people.. MMM is part time job for those who can take risk and not those who believe it's full time job and they went ahead to invest their life savings.. |

ImpeccableOne: My dear, don't discredit the Naira just yet. It has appreciated from N520 to N505 from 20th to 22nd Feb. The person who needs Naira will buy when they need it. Naira is still on offer guys! N375 to $1. If you have GTB or FBN acct, you'll get the Naira in your account as I hit the submit button on my internet banking. No NEFT delays. The truth of the matter is that it will be very hard to see someone who will give it to you at that rate unless the person just wish to do it because even in Texas a friend told me the current rate of $1 to #480 two or three weeks ago when I helped him with some cash and I was like BDC office don dey Texas be that and he transfer it back to me within 2-3 days.. Anyone can come here tomorrow to give you that amount maybe his spirit wanted him to give it that amount but you posting the above I don't think you will see because in this country where you and i can see higher amount that where we will run after same way I and others went after MMM just because we wanted registration bonus and 30% |

omoluabiguy: Please I need an urgent suggestion on how do I send transcript to WES; I mean would I send it as an applicant or I should have my school send it. Kindly advise Your school should be the one to send it but if you have a good rapport with those in charge you can collect it from them and send it to WES yourself via courier if your school is not using courier.. But let them be aware that WES will contact them to ask about the authenticity of the transcript and they should be ready to tell them they are the one that issue and mail it out |

Kevoki: Hello house..I want to know why VOs ask the question " how many schls did u apply to?" If you applied to only one school and they gave u admission, will it hinder ur chances at d embassy? And again test is more advisable to write? GRE/TOEFL/IELTS? Cc: lagosismyhome thanks for the wonderful job you ve been doing. God bless u ma Asking the bold question from the VO section will be the best for you to get the accurate answer but it all boils down to know applicants seriousness and if it was carried out by the applicant himself.. Some people applied to a single school or more than one and got their visa approved while some did the same and were refused visa |

Remember our statement here is in Naira so they gotta do the conversion with an exchange rate themselves to know if u have sufficient in dollars to cover first yr of study.. Do you mean for your sponsor? Well i don't think so or necessary as long as you have the naira to get your dollar |

ponpon: CBN Pegs Dollar Rate For School Fees, PTA At N375/$
In line with its determination to boost dollar supply in the economy as well as to bridge the wide gap between the interbank foreign exchange (FX) market and the parallel market, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday pegged the Naira exchange rate for payment of school fees (strictly universities) abroad and Personal Travel Allowance (PTA) at N375 to the dollar.
The central bank disclosed this in a closed-door meeting it held with all chief executive officers of commercial banks as well as other authorised FX dealers in attendance. The meeting took place in Lagos.... I can see Western Union and Money Gram doing carnival here because that's their rate when sending funds from to Nigeria You can see that CBN no get anything to offer at all.. Western Union and Money Gram rate is what they brought to us and some people will say they have done something great.. Make God help us |
