rotecch77: Sorry but why don’t you feel comfortable with your builder (a professional) haaa, unless may be he is not what you called him. Lol... Well I'm not an expert, but I see most buildings here with 9". I felt 6 would be the minimum recommended. If there's no problem using 5, it's alright... Since there are columns. |

Person2person: I assume you have not done your oversite concrete (DPC)yet.....
ensure your columns are not too far apart (you may need to introduce column to support the 5inch block)
ensure your columns is 6inch as you can still correct that now
do your oversite concrete (DPC) (very important) with proper mix
you can continue your work with 6inch block
Good Luck Thank you very much. I've not done the oversite concrete yet, I was thinking of flooring it later. The builder said there's no problem with 5in, but I don't feel comfortable. |

Person2person: Roughly 1100 blocks for the four courses, but I will advice you make it 6 courses so 2 blocks will be below and 4above the ground level....in this case, roughly 1650 blocks
GoodLuck I discovered recently that blocks being used on my site is 5inc, instead of 6inch. The building is at 4 course dpc level, with starter column. Can I continue from dpc with 6in block? Will there be any effect? |

I am currently working on a 4 bedroom bungalow already at the dpc level, with filling. I'm thinking of incorporating columns at the corners in case of concrete fascia, I don't know if it can be done. Please help. Thank you. |

chimexdnice: most of these so called "contractors" you mentioning are greedy. .. it's difficult getting a genuine one (except you a money bag or a politician) ... if not... appoint a "professional experience contractor" but don't make the mistake of handing over the entire finance of the project to them ... manage your finances yourself (buy your materials yourself) and pay the "professional contractor"an agreed wage that way you in control of your project and everyone is happy ... talking from experience. I'm currently working on a 4 bedroom bungalow at the dpc stage, already filled. Now I'm thinking of incorporating columns at the corners. Can it be done? Thank you. |

Nice one sir... It's amazing how you achieved so much with that budget. I guess most times we just stuff our buildings with unnecessary features that end up costing alot. I'm inspired. |
